The private VIP ward of Targaryen Group Hospital was filled with the faint scent of disinfectant.
Aerion Targaryen lay unconscious in the hospital bed. Thick bandages were wrapped around his head, and electrodes connected to monitoring equipment were attached to his chest and arms. His vitals looked perfectly stable. The only reason he had not yet awakened was that the anesthetic from the operation had not fully worn off.
The room was crowded.
His poker face father Maekar stood beside the bed reading the physician’s report. His elder brother Daeron leaned against the window, staring outside with the bewildered expression of someone who had not yet recovered from a hangover. His young brother Aegon had fallen asleep while leaning against his nanny, Dunk.
And then there was Dunk himself.
Dunk was the one who witnessed Aerion’s car accident. He had called the ambulance immediately and notified Maekar. At the moment, he looked even sleepier than Aegon because it was already ten o’clock the next morning.
From the moment he learned of Aerion’s accident, Maekar had forced his two sons in house to come to the hospital with him. Perhaps the only weakness of the second-in-command of the Targaryen Group was his pups. Whenever one of them was hurt, he became exactly like this—wanting the entire family gathered at the bedside.
As both a witness to the accident and Aegon’s nanny, best friend, or in some ways family, Dunk had no choice but to stay in the hospital with his boss.
The minor surgery went very smoothly. The doctor said that Aerion would wake up around ten thirty.
Sure enough, just as Dunk was on the verge of nodding off, Aerion’s eyelashes finally began to flutter.
The young royal forced his heavy eyelids open. His violet eyes, unaccustomed to the bright light, immediately squeezed shut again. After a moment, he slowly opened them once more and looked around at the people in the room.
“Aerion, how are you feeling? The doctor said it’s nothing serious…” Maekar stepped forward at once, concern evident in his voice.
But Aerion seemed not to hear his father at all.
He gazed around blankly until his eyes landed on Dunk, who had awkwardly risen to his feet. Instantly, royal’s eyes widened. His violet pupils contracted sharply, and even his breathing grew uneven.
Seven Above, Aerion thought. Such innocent eyes. Such a beautiful body. I have to make him my man.
“Aerion?” Maekar asked in confusion , still receiving no response from his son.
Aerion’s gaze remained completely fixed on Dunk. His throat bobbed as he swallowed, and in a tone no one present had ever heard from him before, he asked, slightly slurred, “Who are you?”
The anesthesia had left his tongue clumsy, but the emotion in his voice was so intense it practically overflowed.
Dunk blinked in surprise and pointed at himself.
“I’m Dunk. Duncan Pennytree. You don’t remember?”
Aerion muttered a few words in Valyrian. Realizing Dunk couldn’t understand, he immediately switched to English.
“Come here,” he said.
“What?” Dunk asked, certain he had misheard.
Aerion continued staring at him, naked greed—or perhaps desire—plain in his eyes.
“Come here,” he repeated. After a pause, he added a single word stiffly:
“Please.”
Daeron’s drowsiness vanished instantly. He sprinted across the room to Aegon and grabbed his brother’s shoulder.
“Did I hear that correctly ?” he demanded in horror. “Did Aerion just say please?”
Aegon looked like that he’d seen a ghost.
Maekar, who was completely ignored, his mouth twitched. With an irritated huff, he seized Dunk by the arm and practically dragged him over to Aerion’s bedside. Left with no choice, Dunk found himself standing there awkwardly, staring back at Aerion.
“Hi,” Aerion said. His voice had returned to calm. He seemed to return to normal, if ignored the fact that he was still gripping Dunk’s wrist with unwavering determination.
“Uh, hi, Master Aerion. It’s good to see you awake. Please let me go, I should call the doctor.” Dunk tried to pull his hand free.Aerion had never liked him. Every encounter between them ended with some cutting remark, and only last month they had argued over Aegon. This kind of proximity, this direct physical contact, felt completely unnatural.
“No.” Aerion’s answer was brief and firm.
Not only did he refuse to let go, he tugged harder, pulling Dunk toward the bed. Caught off guard, Dunk stumbled half a step forward. The distance between them was suddenly closer than ever before.
He looked at Aerion Instinctively. The undisguised desire in violet eyes hit him like a blast of heat, and he hurriedly looked away.
“Don’t move.” Aerion’s gaze never left him. Fever gleamed in violent.
“You’re so charming . How can someone as perfect as you exist in this world? Stay with me.”
The hospital room fell instantly into dead silence.
Dunk frozed. His looked like that his soul had left his body for a while. Maekar had turned to stone. Aegon’s jaw had dropped far enough to fit a lightbulb.Meanwhile, Daeron was shaking from the effort of holding back laughter. Quietly, he pulled out his phone and aimed it at Aerion’s hospital bed.
He opened the family group chat that created by Aerion and titled [MAKE TARGARYEN GREAT AGAIN], despite the fact that no one ever used it. he decisively started a livestream.
Daeron: @Valarr @Baelor @Daenora @Rhae @Aemon @Matarys
You absolutely cannot miss this!!
On the other side, nobody noticed Daeron’s little stunt. Aerion’s behavior had already consumed every remaining brain cell they possessed.
“What a beautiful body. So full of strength.” Aerion’s eyes gleamed. He wore a strange, almost obsessive and possessive smile. “An angel blessed by Seven. You’ll have one strong and excellent pup after another.”The way he stared at Dunk sent a chill down Dunk’s spine.
“Enough!” Finally, Maekar snapped. He strode forward and tried to pry his second son’s hand off the man he was currently harassing. If Aerion weren't lying in a hospital bed, he'd sure as hell give that loose-tongued little bastard a beating.
Still not fully awake from the anesthesia, Aerion, with thick gauze around his head, nimbly dodged his father. His eyes still fixed on Dunk as he continued stroking the pretty muscles of Dunk’s arm.
With naked hope in his voice, he asked,“Tell me. Do you have a husband?”
Dunk stared at him blankly.Aerion asked again.
Instinctively, Dunk shook his head.
Aerion smiled in satisfaction.”Good. Otherwise I would’ve had to figure out how to remove him from your life.”
Without hesitation, he yanked the IV needle from the back of his hand, then took the long length of tubing attached to it, looped it into a ring, and slipped it onto Dunk’s finger.
“Then you have one now.” the Targaryen announced firmly.
Three seconds later, Aegon and Maekar started screaming simultaneously.
Entirely unfazed, Aerion continued. He looked Dunk up and down for another moment, then licked his sharp canines with barely restrained longing.
“I can’t wait anymore. Just imagining your strong, beautiful legs wrapped around my waist, the way you crying and moaning beneath me, carrying my pups, belly swelling for—”
Aegon came running over screaming and shoved the whole egg which had somehow appeared in their hand, into Aerion's mouth.
The world became peaceful temporarily .
Dunk had been completely checked out ever since Aerion’s proposal, only snapping back to reality when Aerion erupted into a violent coughing fit. Maekar was swearing while feeding Aerion water. Daeron was laughing so hard he was practically rolling on the floor, yet still stubbornly holding up his phone to record. Aegon tried to charge at Aerion and beat him senseless, only to be caught and pinned against Dunk’s chest with one arm.
The Targaryen family had descended into chaos.
Aerion gulped down several mouthfuls of water, then pointed sharply at Aegon.
“Dunk, is that your pup?” he demanded. “Your biological pup?!”
Aegon frozed.
The room fell silent once more.
Deathly silent.
“Pfft.” Daeron finally lost control.“Hahahahaha!” His laughter rang through the room, shattering the bizarre silence.
“DAERON! PUT DOWN YOUR PHONE !” Maekar ranted in exasperation. He was fairly certain his blood pressure had reached dangerous levels.
“ Aerion! What the Hell are you talking about? He’s Dunk! Your brother’s nanny!”
At the sound of the shouting, Aerion finally spared Maekar a glance.
He frowned. “Old man, show some respect. I won’t allow anyone to belittle my man.” Then he turned back to Dunk, still visibly annoyed.
“So? Is that bald pup yours or not?”
For nearly fifty years, Maekar Targaryen had never been insulted to his face. Certainly not by his own son. His chest rose and fell violently. Color flooded into his face.
“Excellent.” He laughed from sheer fury, then spun around, stormed out of the room, and bellowed down the hallway:
“Get me a sedative. Right now!”
The family group chat had never been so active.
Baelor and Valarr had paused a company meeting to watch Aerion propose to Dunk, while the younger Targaryens spammed the chat nonstop.
On screen, Aerion was clinging to Dunk’s waist with his still-bleeding hand, loudly declaring that he wouldn’t let go unless Dunk accepted his proposal.
Baelor: Dunk is a sincere and kind boy. It’s perfectly normal for Aerion to love him.
Matarys: So all those times Aerion acted like he hated Dunk were fake?
Daenora: One round of anesthesia and all my brother’s secrets come spilling out.
Rhae: A marriage with Aerion sounds relatively sad.
Valarr: We should save this and play it in front of Aerion regularly.
Aemon: I’ve compressed the full recording. Anyone want a copy? I doubt this group can survive tomorrow.
Valarr: Me.
Daeron: ME!
Rhae: Me.
Daenora: Me.
Baelor: I’d like a copy as well.
Matarys: Me too.
Meanwhile, at the center of the storm, Dunk was doing his best to reason with Aerion.
“Let me go please,” he said patiently. “The doctor needs to rebandage your hand.”
Aerion refused.
Not only did he refuse to let go, he kept trying to reach Dunk’s cheek with his lips.
“Just one kiss?” he muttered. “Just one!”
Dunk had no choice but to plant his huge palm against Aerion’s forehead to keep him at a safe distance.
Unfortunately, he didn’t dare use any real force on the head of a man who had a surgery and was recovering from a concussion.
Dunk’s face radiated despair.
The standoff continued until a doctor rushed in and jabbed a needle into Aerion’s arm.
The drug hit almost instantly.
His eyelids grew heavy. His grip on Dunk gradually loosened. He gave Dunk one last lovestruck look.
Then his head tipped to one side and passed out.
At last, it was over.
“Gods…”Dunk let out a long breath.
Rubbing at the wrist Aerion had nearly crushed, he felt as exhausted as if he’d just finished two rugby matches back to back.
Maekar stared at his unconscious son for a moment before turning to Dunk awkwardly.
“Dunk. I’d appreciate it if today’s events remained confidential.”
“Of course.” Dunk rubbed his nose.He also replied awkwardly.
The faint flush lingering at the tips of his ears, however, was a little suspicious.
Aerion, who had fallen back into slumber, seemed to be having a sweet dream.A dreamy smile still lingered on his face.Compared to the cold, aloof Aerion everyone knew, he looked like an entirely different person.
Everyone present understood one thing:
Once the anesthesia wore off and Aerion Targaryen got his memories back, he was about to experience the most embarrassing day of his entire life.
As for how he planned to face Dunk he’d proposed to in front of his family, that was another chaotic and romantic story .
