Chapter Text
The phone rang 3 times before your beloved boyfriend, Choso, answered his phone.
"Hey, sweetheart. Why'd you call? You okay? Did you eat?" His voice hit your system like cold water on a hot night and the questions rattled off his tongue like it was his natural instinct to protect you.
"Hi, Cho! I'm okay, and I just ate. Just bored during lunch break. What'cha doing?" His voice was one of your favorite features about him. Not too low, not too high. It reminded you of sipping smooth wine. The aftertaste pleasant, and the low hum of it making your stomach flutter everytime.
You heard his deep sigh of relief as he began to speak normally again. "I'm just driving to my next job...." He said. "How's your day been?" Choso immediately changed the topic. He didn't enjoy talking about his job, especially with you. You were his safe space, and he didn't want that side of his world to even make eye contact with you. Heck, he even had a whole different phone strictly for business that was completely off limits to you!
"It's been a little weird, honestly."
"Then, talk to me, baby." His voice immediately softened. You knew how much you meant to Choso, and he definitely couldn't stand knowing you feel even a little bit miserable.
"I don't know, I guess I'm just having one of those weird days, you know?" But, it wasn't just that.
You had been getting this weird feeling in your stomach these past few days that something terrible would happen, and you decided to ignore it for the sake of inner peace. But today, it felt rampant as ever, causing a wildfire of worry and ache in your head.
"Are you sure, baby? I promise you can tell me anything." You could hear the metronomic beep of the car's turn signal. Hearing Choso's meltingly sweet yet troubled voice nearly moved you to tell him about everything that happened, but your self judgement led you to an ultimate answer of no. Your heart told you that you can take it on by yourself. After all, its just some silly feelings, right? They'll eventually leave and your mind will be normal once more.
"Yeah, I'm okay."
You looked at the watch on your wrist and the time read 12:58. Already 2 minutes left until you have to go back to work?! It always felt like time was flying when you were with Choso, but not this fast! You let out a frustrated sigh and spoke into the phone again.
"Cho, baby, I gotta leave soon or else my director will give me another write up. I love you."
"Wait, baby, before you leave, can I ask you to do something?" Choso asked. His tone was questionably shy yet somehow bold at the same time.
"Yeah, what is it?"
"Could you turn on your camera and show me your necklace...?" Wow. Definitely not what you expected. You let out a little laugh and you could already see Choso's flushed face in your mind.
"Only if you show me your face too, pretty boy." You smiled at the camera like an absolute loser, but you lived for moments like these. You liked when Choso let his possessive side peek out a little.
But about as soon as the words left your mouth, Choso's camera was turned on. His face's pale canvas was painted on with pinks and reds, focusing especially around the area of his tattoo. His phone was situated above the screen of the car's dashboard, his phone in the cutesy pink Hello Kitty phone holder you bought for him as a joke.
You then proceeded to also turn on your camera. You brought the phone out so your face and the low cut of your dress shirt were in view. The chain with Choso's inital sitting on your neck sparkled brightly against the fluorescent office lights. You let out a smile, unable to hide your delight for when Choso was like this.
Choso was simply staring at you. His camera showed his tomato looking face, and it seemed like he was trying to analyze and take in everything about this moment like you were something he would never be able to see again. The curve of your chin, your lifted eyelashes, your plump lips, and especially the way his inital sat on your chest, framed by your clavicles.
"Goodness, you really do something to me, pretty girl...." Choso said, and you swore you hear the tiniest groan coming from his lips. It satisfied you way more than it should've.
The time now read 12:59. Now, you really had to go. "Cho, baby, I really have to go now. I love you!" You were rapidly picking up your coat and speedwalking back to your office.
Choso quickly snapped out of his lustful gaze and melted into a smile once more.
"Bye bye my love, stay safe. If you need anything, call me." Choso said these words like a binding vow lingering in his soul more than a simple comforting sentence. It shook you up inside.
"I always will, Cho. Bye!"
You quickly ended the call and ran at the speed of lightning back to your cozy office. You settled down in your chair when you looked at the time. 1:00. Perfectly on time. You let out a sigh that seemed to take off years of your life, before quickly getting to work again.
But, there was only one thing lingering in your mind.
That gut feeling.
The thoughts in your head.
That terrible premonition that something will happen very very soon.
