Chapter 1: The Mooncell Holy Grail War: Prologue Part 1

Summary:

Lin Ling is a normal boy on his way to school. But he discovers more and more that there is far more too it than it seems.

Notes:

So uhm I'm back.

So for the readers of To be Agenda X, no it's not abandoned just on hiatus for now due to burnout.

Why am I writing this? Simply I can't stop thinking about this AU so I figured I write more about it so that I can empty my head and make space for other ideas.

And since I will write a few chapters in a row, might as well make it it's own fic. At least that was my train of thought.

Also this first chapter is nearly the same as the one in To be Agenda X, with one tiny detail changed near the end.

So that would be all, I hope you guys will like this chapter and the next few that will come out.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Lin Ling walked the same path he usually walks. Usually?

He wore the Tsukimihara Academy. Why would he wear that?

He was infront of the entrance and there stood Zac.

"Hey there. I'm supposed to check the dress code but really does it even matter? I mean it's just clothes." He lazily said as he typed on his phone.

How could he be the student council president?

Anyways he walked forward and past Zac.

Once he entered he walked towards the second floor and into the Room 2-A.

He is one of the many second years. Wait he shouldn't even be in school

Entering the room he walked towards his seat next to the window in the last row.

It was calm and serene with the sun shining through the window.

"Could you look anymore mindless?" An arrogant yet familiar voice said to him.

"Hm?" When Lin Ling turned around he saw Qi Shi, he has long black hair, pale skin and wears glasses. His long and traditional green coat and the stylized black tang suit with gold accents, secured with an olive and gold sash underneath it made him stood out.

Is this even remotely acceptable with the dress code?

"What do you mean?" He asked since whether you believe it or not, they are friends. Somehow. No that can't be right

"Well allow me to explain it to you. The way you look outside-" While Qi Shi rambled on Lin Ling looked outside again.

He could see some students late running towards the building. He gave them sympathetic look. It was more often than not that he came to late to his work and got yelled at by his boss.

Wait what? Work? Boss? He's a teenager how on earth is he supposed to have a boss and job? Yet he couldn't shake the feeling that this did happen.

*Ding* *Dong*

The bell brought him back to reality. Qi Shi having long stopped ranting about him also sat down on his seat two rows before Lin Lings.

Pretty much everyone was waiting for the teacher to come.

*Slide*

And there she was. Miss Juan or Miss J. walked right through the door.

Her blue and gold outfit was the only thing anyone in this class has seen her wear. It's also said that she has a wardrobe only with multiple copies of this outfit inside of it.

But considering how much Miss J. cares about appearance he wouldn't be surprised if that was the truth.

"Oh before we start we'll have a new student in this class starting today. Come in." Miss J. said and soon afterwards a blonde, short boy came through the door.

He wears a orange uniform with white shoes. Though the most important thing is the way he carries himself. It is as if he was the king and everyone else nothing but a pawn beneath him.

He could already see Qi Shi frowning at the boy.

"Hello everyone I'm Leonardo Bistario Harway and I hope we can have a pleasant school life with on another." He said formal, dignified yet distant and somewhat as if he was looking down on the others.

"Though it seems only me and Qi Shi noticed it." That's because the rest of the class began to ask him all sorts of questions.

"Silence! If you want to know more about him ask him during the break and not my class!" Miss J. yelled annoyed.

With that the class began after Leonardo sat down.

The class was math so Lin Ling lost focus FAST.

When the class ended nearly everyone stormed Leonardos desk and continued the questioning.

Lin Ling walked out since he wasn't interested in asking any question and he also felt fear towards Leonardo. Though he can't say why exactly. He just feels uncanny.

So Lin Ling went to the rooftop.

But what was supposed to be a calm and relaxing break was shot down the moment he opened the door and saw a blonde girl standing on the rooftop.

"Oh? And you are?" She asked.

She wears a brown jacket on top of a colourful T-shirt, with blue jeans and sport shoes. It looked more like someone who travels the world than a student.

"Doesn't she feel hot?" It's summer and she's wearing a jacket and not a thin one.

"Uh well I'm Lin Ling second year and you?" He asked after realizing that he was staring at her.

"Second year? It seems you still need to recover your memory. Or maybe you're an NPC." She whispered to herself.

Before Lin Ling could ask what she meant she just... disappeared. She must be a good Spiritron Hacker

Huh?!

"Wha-What?!" Lin Ling was speechless and yet the feeling that something was wrong grew exponentially.

He went back to class after this. Like what else should he do with what just happened?!

The day went on rather quickly without anyone else disapearing suddenly.

And the next day began.

Wait when? He can't remember ever going home.

He walked into the class room.

It all seemed so peaceful.

And yet there was still the encounter with the blonde girl.

"Hey Qi Shi, can I ask you something?" He asked as he walked to his desk.

"Huh? You want something from me?" He asked perplexed.

"Oh come on we're frie-friends right." He said though when he tried to say friends something felt odd.

But why? They were friends since the first year. They never went to the same school

"Well do you know who the blonde girl that looks like a traveller is?" He asked sadly not knowing the name.

"A blonde girl that looks like a traveller?" He muttered when suddenly his eyes shot open.

"No it couldn't be." He said in shock.

"So you know who that is?" Lin Ling asked him.

"Get away I need to think." Qi Shi coldly said.

"Whoa sorry dude. Didn't mean it like that." Lin Ling said as he walked away not knowing what he did wrong.

Well now even Qi Shi is acting weird.

So what now? Search for the girl? No, he barely has any clue where she could be.

Sighing he went to his desk to look at his notes only to see that there isn't anything written in the notebook.

He was sure that he took atleast some notes.

It's kinda shocking that his notes suddenly disappearing is not the strangest thing that happened today.

*Ding* Dong*

The class bell rung and everyone went to their seat.

Everything was peaceful until afternoon when Lin Ling suddenly felt a massive headache.

"Wh-what is going on?" He asked painfully. He looked around but his vision was slightly static.

"Oh? It seems I have to say my goodbyes." Leonardo suddenly said as he stood up.

"To all those who I won't be seeing in the future. It was an enjoyable time even if it weren't two full days." He said with sincerity.

"And to those I will be seeing in the future. Until next time." He said coldly as if those people were his enemies.

And so Leonardo stepped out of the classroom.

Lin Ling followed him.

He must know what's going on here.

Leonardo went down to the first floor and Lin Ling followed him even if his head was killing him.

He went towards the left wing until he was at the end where only a wall was.

Only to suddenly turn around.

"It seems you will be one of the people I'll see in the future." And for the first time it felt as if Leonardo was looking at him directly.

And it was terrifying.

"What?" Was all Lin Ling could utter.

Though Leonardo didn't say anything else and went through the WALL as if there was nothing.

Lin Ling approached the wall slowly and carefully until, after a few seconds of waiting, touched it only for there to be sudddenly a door which he walked through.

When he was on the other side he was in a storeroom.

His headache was also gone and some of his real memories returned to him.

That's right the Mooncell and the Holy Grail War.

But he still needs to go further and recover the rest of his memories.

He looked around and some kind of mannequin like thing was on the ground, which suddenly stood up.

That it didn't attack him meant that it would be his sword and shield for whatever will be coming next.

And now on the other end of the storeroom was a portal(?).

He knows the moment he walks through that he will be a master in the Holy Grail War. Whatever that is, he can only remember it but not what it is.

So he walks with the mannquin thing behind him into the portal only to be blinded by light.

When came to himself he was in a dungeon.

Blue see through walls and floors made a sort of starting room.

"Do you wish to get your answers then go to the end of this Dungeon." A voice said from somewhere.

Steeling himself he walked forward.

It was very simple there was only one way forward and the "enemies" where more to make him feel familiar with commanding someone else.

When he reached the end he was on a circular colourful glass pane and three glass doors in front of it. But there were also... corpses, many corpses, and another one of those mannequin things.

Before he could fully comprehend what this meant the masterless mannaquinn thing stood up ready to attack.

Lin Ling ordered his mannequin to attack, only for it to be blocked and then countered.

This led to the masterless mannequin attacking over and over again.

Lin Ling paniced both by the corpses around him and also by the one sided battle couldn't do anything to help his mannequin and so it was destroyed.

The masterless mannequin walked towards him.

Lin Ling fell to the ground in fear. Was this the end?

He still hasn't recovered all his memories but he knew he had a reason to come to this dangerous place.

He can't give up now. He has to live!

"So you are my master in this Holy Grail War." A female voice said as two of the three glass doors shattered and the area was illumanated by light.

When Lin Ling looked towards the last glass door he saw a white haired women standing there.

She wears a white combat dress with golden and black accents while white cuisses and greaves protect her legs. And of course a golden crown on top of her head. With her hair being tied into a ponytail. In her hand was a lance.

"Huh?" He could only utter.

"So why are you on the ground?" She asked though when she saw the masterless mannequin it seemed to click.

"So I came just in time it seems." She said as she took on a combat stance with her crown turning into a golden mask covering her entire face.

The mannequin sensing the danger immediately went to attack only to be effortlessly blocked and countered.

Then it tried to attack with enough force to break through any defence, though it let itself wide open for any faster attack which the woman used to attack.

On it's last legs the mannequin tried to block the next attack, though the woman was this time the one to attack with all her might breaking through it's defences.

Still alive the mannequin tried to get up only to be decapitated by the womens lance.

"Now that this is done let's do this one more time." She said after defeating the mannequin without any effort.

Her mask was now back to being a crown. "Allow me to introduce myself. Servant Lancer and I ask you are you my master in this Holy Grail War?" She said and now that he was able to calm down Lin Ling noticed the beauty of the woman, Lancer.

"Uh? Yes I am. My name is Lin Ling." He said coming back to reality, while also standing up.

Suddenly he felt a burning pain in his hand.

When he looked at what the cause was he saw three red sigils on the back of his hand.

"It seems the last master of the Holy Grail War has been chosen." The same voice from the sky said as the last glass door began to open.

"Are you ready master?" Lancer asked him.

"Yes and please call me Lin Ling." He nervously requested.

"Of course." She said with a small smile and the two walked through the door towards a fight that will change the course of the world and also the relationship of the two.

Notes:

So a few extra things to note:

In this timeline a few things were different.

Firstly Lin Ling was born twenty years later and the current year is 61 AD.

Second Queen died in her fight with Bowa.

Third is of course the existence of Magecraft and some Fate Characters.

And all that brought many more changes that will be elaborated on later in the story.

So yeah I hope you liked it my dear readers.

And with that have a nice morning/day/evening/night and goodbye.
