Chapter Text
Damn Notch, damn Mojang, damn everyone who decided their fate, damn this perfect world in which those traitors live.
Herobrine and Villainsbane, two entities far beyond this world, have been trapped here, in this stupid world of Minecraft, since its begining. And not only was it boring, but also what were they supposed to do? Wait and argue until fate gets bored and gets rid of them somehow even though they're immortals? What a joke!
It's what they've been repeating. The only source of entertainment here was the other, and most of the time they argue. This was worse than Hell.
And it has been this way for what felt like decades, but it's not exactly like there are clocks around this fully rural and devoid of industrialization world, so who knows really?
But then, one day, although it seemed like a normal day at first, everything changed. While on a stroll, bickering as always, they find two beings laying there, in a field of flowers, next to each other, unconscious. Two beings that looked like the deities, but... livelier. Bulkier, tanner, no sharp ears, no dark limbs, things they have never seen before, or they don't remember from how long it's been.
The new entities looked strange, beautiful. One was a masculine dark-skinned brunet with short hair and a beard, along with a light blue short-sleeved shirt and dark blue pants. The other had more feminine traits, a ginger with long hair in a low ponytail. This one's skin was rather pale with freckles everywhere, and they were wearing a green shirt with slightly longer sleeves and brown pants. Both their breathing were even, calm, but too deep to be simple sleep. No one would sleep here anyway.
The deities didn't know whether to approach or not, and stayed hidden for now. Right choice, as the beings woke up at the same time with a sharp startled breath before screaming in unison when seeing each other. Good thing to not: they did not have fully white eyes. The ginger had green eyes and the brunet had dark purple eyes. They had separated quickly, panicked, and... apparently amnesic. From what they could hear, these two didn' know each other, didn't know where they were, hox they got here, or even where they came from. All they knew were their names. The ginger was Alex, the brunet was Steve.
The two calmed down, still uneasy, and stood up. They were shaking, looking around worriedly. Villainsbane chuckled in her hiding spot, earning herself a slap from her friend. Thankfully, the beings didn't spot them.
The deities stalked them as they got used to the world and stopped questionning for now, favorising their survival by working together. Villainsbane quickly got bored of them though, and decided to wander off. She found a village. With the beings of this world, which they call mobs, she can interact, so she walked around aimlessly. It was unnervingly calm. By now, dawn was nearing, yet a villager, instead of going to her house to sleep, rushed to Villainsbane, grabbing her arm to catch her attention.
"You! There's something in that house," they said frantically, pointing at a house more isolated than the rest. "I heard screams coming out of it, but no one is listening to me! Please you have to believe me!"
That piqued Villainsbane's interest. She forced the villager off of her and teleported to said house, looking around with curosity. She touched the heirloom in a corner, the wood and threads decaying under her fingers, when she noticed something odd.
She took a step back and hit the floor a couple of times with her foot. Nothing weird, just wood sounds, a bit of creakings too from its age. Then, she took a step forward and did the same. Creaks, but more importantly; it sounded hollow and weaker. She teleported under it, and she was right. There was a basement, which was not normal for a forest village. It was made of stone and pitch black. It was a corridor.
She followed it, touching the wall to guide herself, and ended up in front of an iron door, which was a strange occurence as only blacksmiths use iron for other purposes than creating an iron golem. She just teleported through, and was met by a horrifying sight.
The villager living in this house was standing there, still as a statue, back toward her, facing something she couldn't fully make out but she could guess from the blood and entrails painting walls, floor and even some on the ceiling. Then, the villager turned.
They were dead.
Their eyes were open, but empty of life. Their skin was rotting, their jaw was wide open. It wasn't even a zombie, it wasn't infected, it was just dead and being puppeted. It tried lunging forward to her, but she teleported behind it, and with one touch of her black decayed hand, the corpse rotted until nothing was left, only bones and putrid flesh falling to the ground. None of this was normal, and Villainsbane knew that.
On his side, Herobrine had nothing to complain about. The entities figured out how they could survive and started getting to know each other. He was watching and listening closely. They were anomalies in his world, but they didn't seem like bad ones. Prehaps a change of pace that could be beneficial.
Then, Villainsbane teleported again, this time to him, who didn't even react at her arrival. He was still watching the new entities with curiosity.
"Brine, I have something to show you," she muttered, tugging at his shirt to get him to follow her.
"What? Another terrible building?" he asked sarcastically, swatting her hand off.
"Ha-ha, hilarious. No. Something happened that shouldn't have," she explained vaguely, this close to grabbing him by the ear and dragging him there herself.
"Fine, fine. Just be quick," he agreed reluctantly.
She teleported them both to the house so he could see where it was, then broke the block leading to the basement with her rot. She led him to the crime scene. They both teleported through the sealed door, and saying Herobrine was surprised would be an understatement. He was shocked beyond belief. And even more when she explained everything. They debated on what to do, how to understand what happened.
"I don't understand how this is possible. The villagers aren't advanced enough for any of this, this shouldn't exist!" he said, looking around at the gore and blood.
"Maybe it's these new things' fault. Something like this never happened before, but then it does the moment they appear? It's a weird coincidence," she theorized.
"Well, not directly, that's for certain. But maybe they brought in some sort of anomaly with them when they appeared here. It's worth verifying," he replied.
And with that, they agreed on a plan; Herobrine will keep an eye on Steve and Alex, and Villainsbane will stay in the village to see if an event as such happens again.
