Chapter 1: The Death

Chapter Text

“There he is”, his father claps on Jeongguk’s back as someone he can barely see with all the people around hands him a drink, “you are late to the party Jeongguk, do you have any idea what your brother did tonight?” his father squeezes the back of his neck as he points his own drink towards his brother, a large smile covering most of his face.

His brother looks smug, a smirk tilting across his face as he lifts up his drink back to their father, “I one upped Jeonggukie tonight.”

Jeongguk raises an eyebrow as his father roars with laughter and people- hunters- follow, laughing loudly as they all raise their glasses. There are hundreds of hunters packed in that one bar with glasses of beer toppling at the edges as they clinked against the others.

“Your brother was incredible tonight”, his father’s eyes shine as he says, not letting go of Jeongguk, “he did it so neatly that we did not even have to worry about cleaning up the blood. One strike”, those intense eyes glisten, “that is all it took to kill that dirty mutt off. Their great fucking head alpha”, he spits out, “and just one blow from the second best hunter too”, his father starts laughing and the rest of the hunters follow, except for the said hunter- his brother whose eyes had grown hard at the words ‘second best’.

“No but imagine if Jeongguk had gone instead of Jaehyun, it would have taken him even less time to kill that dirty excuse of a head alpha”,Jonghyun, one of the other hunters, one of his uncles, laughs. Everyone agrees but-

“Don’t even bring Jeongguk here”, his father says, “it's an insult to Jeongguk to be put in the same sentence as that mutt. Clearly they weren’t even worthy of the attention from the world’s best hunter of this age”, he says, somehow sounding prouder with his chest fluffed up.

“You are right, so right”, some other chant.

“Let’s all celebrate the death of the newly crowned head alpha! They have got nothing on us! We shall wipe every single one of them off!”

Roars and huge thumps on the tables go up.

Jeongguk takes a swig of his drink, hanging back as his father talks with the other hunters. Some of his uncles pat him on the back as a greeting, some hug him and he hugs them back, nodding and smiling at their greeting. Some younger hunters- in their teenagehood- come bounding up to him to tell him how much they missed seeing him. How much they want to see him train since it has been a long while Jeongguk had trained at home because of college.

Jeongguk’s both elbows rest on the bar top behind him as he leans against it, legs spread out as the dark jeans stretch over his thick thighs as he sits on the bar stool.

He nods at another younger hunter who is stammering her way through telling him how much he has inspired her, “you can do it as well,” he encourages her, “all those things you mentioned, I did those at your age so that’s proof enough that you can too, you just have to learn to let yourself go.”

“You are the Golden hunter, oppa”, she argues with a pout, “the best of this age, of this decade, I can only look up to you, I can never be you.”

Jeongguk gives her a smile, one that makes her heart skip a beat, "that is the trick though, you don’t have to be me. I am me. You can be you and maybe you will become the silver hunter.”

Her eyes positively shine at that, her silver hair glistens in the dim light as he gives her another smile and turns towards an aunt who has come to greet him.

The hunters surround Jeongguk like moths to flame. Jeongguk is their pride. Their prized possession. They missed him a lot now that he could rarely come home because he is in his final year of studies.

It is precisely because of that, that the responsibility of the newly minted head alpha’s death had been given to the second best hunter. Jeon Jaehyun.

Jeongguk is on the phone as Jaehyun approaches him. He can barely see him out in the dark balcony of the bar with his dark clothes and even darker aura.

“-back by tomorrow morning, baby, I promise”, Jaehyun stills as he hears his brother say that.

Baby?

The word echoes in his head.

“Yes, yes I-”, Jeongguk notices him then, his phone pressed to his ear, brows pinched as if he is listening intently to whoever is speaking on the other side, “yes I will. I will, I promise. I got to go now, see you tomorrow morning okay?”

Jaehyun watches as his brother nods to himself and says a goodbye before cutting the call. His voice sounded the softest he has ever heard from the cold blooded hunter.

“You are leaving already?” Jaehyun asks because even he knows how far the college is from here.

Jeongukk pauses before he nods slowly, “I wasn’t planning to come back here so early on so I have to go back to college.”

“You just came back. Dad is throwing a whole celebration tomorrow for this win, my win, but you can’t even stay for that?” he asks, getting irritated.

Jeongguk’s eyes flashes, “I drove here for four hours in the middle of a busy week to celebrate your win! I am here because of your win and am giving as much time as I can. But I can’t be here tomorrow because I have something else to do back in college-”

“Is your ‘baby’ now more important than your family?”he asks all of a sudden and Jeongguk pauses.

“You are the golden hunter. In every single one of your celebrations, I have celebrated with you from when you were young. This is the first time mom and dad are proud enough of me to celebrate something I did but you can't be here?” Jaehyun scoffs, “is it because you’re fucking jealous of me? That I got to kill that mutt and not you?”

“Jaehyun,” Jeongguk cringes lightly, his voice measured, “you are talking shit. Whoever you killed-”

“Its the fucking head alpha of the biggest pack. It is a big fucking achievement!”

“Yes, of course it is”, Jeongguk says, “but I am still the golden hunter so I have no reason to be jealous of you”, he frowns, “I am not. I am proud that you got this in your belt, you trained hard for it but I just can’t be here tomorrow-”

“Mom wouldn’t come if you don’t stay hyung”, Jaehyun says, the spite in his voice dying.

“That is not true”, Jeongguk shakes his head but Jaehyun comes close to hold Jeongguk’s hands in his, “hyung. She didn’t even come to this party because she didn’t think you could make it so she is not going to come if she hears you already left and you can’t leave without seeing her! You have to tell her you are proud of me, hyung. You have to do this for me.”

Jeongguk holds his hand, pauses to give Jaehyun time to take a few breaths before, “did you make sure to kill the head alpha off properly?" he asks, voice kind but serious.

Jaehyun snaps his head to nod as fast as he can.

“Did you clean up after yourself properly?” Jeongguk asks next.

Jaehyun nods again.

“Then, mom will come to congratulate you regardless of if I am here or not tomorrow.”

“Hyung please, if she doesn’t come, I-”, Jaehyun gets desperate then, knowing already that if Jeon Jeongguk leaves then Jeon Yeonha will not even bother to come to his party. She has only ever cared about her prized possession. Her heir. The apple of her eye.

“You at least have to talk to her for me then Jeongguk hyung. She always listens to you. She will listen to you. Can you please?”

Jeongguk does not want to bother. He is planning to leave Busan as soon as an hour from now. He is still staying just to show that he is here. That the golden hunter respected this hunt. His mother will make his stay longer but he has to be back in Seoul for Taehyung’s recital. “I will talk to her okay? Before I leave, I will go talk to her and make sure she comes”, Jeongguk says.

“You promise?”

Jeongguk nods, “I do.”

And it is sealed. A promise by Jeon Jeongguk is not to be taken lightly. His promises are set in stone, in principle of nature.

“Mom?” Jeongguk’s voice echoes around the marble mansion as he steps in. He can hear some of the people scurry towards him in a hurry even as it is the middle of the night.

“Master Jeon”, one gasps, “you are back home.”

Jeongguk tries to smile, “not for long so you don’t have to prepare anything for me. I just needed to talk to mom.”

They deflate much like everyone at the party did when he told them he couldn’t stay. Everyone wanted him to be there with them. To drink with them, to party with them, to celebrate with them. It was not always they got to be with the heir.

“You are not staying? But it is late at night, your wing has been cleaned and polished just this morning for you. Your mother had-”

“Is she in her study? I will go talk to her,” Jeongguk does not want to hear more as he walks to her study, his steps confident, like he owns this mansion and the people in it.

“Mom”, he opens the study door and there his mother is, long black locks falling across her back and stopping at her waist, strong thinly shaped eyebrows that spread out in bliss as her eye and lips smile, “my golden son”, she hugs him tightly, “you have returned home.”

Her short manicured finger nails graze against Jeongguk very lightly, the dark robes she is wearing that fall around her like a shroud whirls around Jeongguk, covering him protectively.

Jeongguk closes his eyes, breathes out, “hello mom.”

She parts from him, “I wasn’t sure if you would come but it makes me happy that Jaehyun did something worthy for you to come for once.”

“He did really good”, Jeongguk nods, his mother hums, “yes, a clean knife wound in the body of that mutt, was not even that much of a fight. Head Alpha they had named that wolf just last week but clearly, it wasn’t strong enough for Jaehyun”, she tsks, “I went over the fight with him. Jaehyun just did his caliber. Nothing special.”

Jeongguk feels his stay getting longer just as she mentions it, his muscles weigh a bit heavier,  “Does that mean you are not going to go to the party dad is hosting for him?”

“I wasn’t thinking of going no”, she says softly as she brushes Jeongguk’s hair back affectionately, her eyes shining with pride and that motherly love, “but since you came here for this, maybe I should go and have a word with Jaehyun along with you.”

Jeongguk nods at her before he holds her shoulders, “That is not a bad idea except,” he pauses briefly and gathers his words, “mom, I came down here because he did really well. Even for his caliber. I know you heard about the fight but that wolf was the head alpha that Yoongi had said the Kim pack was staking all their claims on. They clearly had full hope she could protect them. But, Jaehyun got to it and finished it off like it was nothing. So Jaehyun needs to hear it from you. But,” he says, looking at her, “I can’t go tomorrow.”

A silence falls over them. It takes over the previous warmth and douses it with the cold Jeongguk was so used to feeling in this very room.

Yeonha frowns, “why can’t you?”

“I have something important for my class at college tomorrow that I can’t miss”, he lies, voice neutral, not giving anything away, it makes his mother frown more, “so your class is more important than this than I shall-”

“No, but mom, you need to go. You are here and you are the current leader of the hunters. You need to show that you are proud of Jaehyun.”

“But if you are not going-”

“I went to his party, I showed up. Just like dad. Now”, he says calmly, appeasing his mother, the ruthless hunter who had taught everything Jeongguk had to know about hunting, “you need to be there as well tomorrow. You need to show up.”

His mother looks at him, “so you are leaving now? If you have a morning class.”

Jeongguk nods slowly, tentatively, “I have to mom.”

“Very well”, she nods, letting him go slowly, watching as Jeongguk steps away from her with a bow and turns to leave,“drive back to Seoul safe.”

Jeongguk does not look back as he says, “I will.”

“But remember”, her voice takes that dangerous lilt Jeongguk had grown up with as the younger pauses, “This is your last year in college, Golden hunter. Remember that you have to return home as soon as you finish like you promised. You have to be back and take your rightful position. College. Seoul is only temporary. Something I have only allowed because you were being insistent and wanted this as your present for that one mission.  Nothing there can be permanent for the heir of the hunters. Of the Jeons. Remember that well.”

Jeongguk stares at the door ahead of him, his hand around the handle tightens, “yes mom,” he says before he is walking out of there.

“You…Did you get the flowers I left for you at your desk yesterday, Taehyung?”

Taehyung looks up and blinks, his long lashes fall over the apple of his bare cheeks, casting pretty shadows on them. His hair is everywhere, falling in curly strands over his eyes and ears because he has forgotten to style it like he usually did. The omega had worn one of Jeongguk’s old oversized shirts and paired it with a pair of his paint splattered jeans. He sits with his legs crossed, his hand on his phone as he looks at the alpha who approached him in confusion.

It is still way too early in the morning but even as a mess, he still makes other humans steal glances at him and some of the alphas glances at him as they eye him and Minho.

Since Jeongguk is a human, he doesn’t have a scent to be able to scent mark his omega. He is sitting outside, directly under the sweet sun, scentless and that somehow became a signal for the alpha to approach him.

“Minho”, his baritone voice is thick, “what flowers?”

From beside him, Jimin looks between them in confusion as well, his eyebrows raised.

Minho tries to laugh, his eyes dazed from how his breath leaves him because of how beautiful the bare faced omega is in his most casual wear, “you must have missed them then, has your amma called you about the courting gifts I sent for you to your pack from mine?”

A bit of the confusion leaves the omega’s almond eyes as he shares a look with Jimin, “Minho”, he says quietly, “you know I am being courted by someone else right-” Minho’s eyes loses some of its vigour but Taehyung continues, it is too early in the morning for Taehyung to be gentle about this, “and I have accepted his courting proposal with all my being. I cannot accept your courting gifts.”

The alpha is deflating, “is- is this about Jeongguk? H-he knows you are an omega? He is a human isn’t he?”

Taehyung’s throat bobs at the question, but before he could reply Minho says, “and your parents are accepting of him? I am the Alpha heir of the Chois and he might be a rich man but he is a human who cannot know what wolves need and want.”

Taehyung tries to smile, “maybe I can help look for an omega for you?” Minho flinches, “but I am not an option for anyone but him, you are a great alpha Minho but not for me”, he says, almost automatically saying it with a cheshire smile- something he has said to at least a hundred alphas ever since he presented.

He knows he is beautiful. His whole pack has drilled it into his mind by putting him on a pedestal even since he was born.

“Coming here this early in the morning, they really, truly want you”, Jimin shakes his head as soon as Taehyung manages to make Minho leave.

Taehyung shakes his head, looking mildly defeated, “if Jeongguk could just scent me, fuck. I don’t like talking to alphas again and again about this. It has been years.”

“You know you wouldn’t have to deal with this if you just, I don’t know, tell Jeongguk that you are an omega right?”Jimin says, his voice knowing, making Taehyung bite his lip, “it’s so- you have to wear suppressants always in general to study in this godforsaken college and because you are dating a human who doesn’t know what you are you have to take the slick suppressors and birth control as well. It’'s affecting your omega as well” The omega scolds him.

Taehyung just listens silently.

“Why don’t you tell him?” Jimin asks, voice softer now, “Jeongguk worships the very ground you walk on. He is so in love with you and he is such a quiet and gentle soul, if not anyone else, I have this feeling that he is one of the few humans who would completely accept you as a werewolf”, Jimin says, voice a mere whisper to make sure nobody else hears their conversation.

Taehyung just shakes his head, looking up at the sky as his eyes get a kind of melancholy Jimin knows of very well.

“Tae, you know with how your scent is starting to leak now through the suppressants, I can’t bring you more dosages of them because it is pretty fucking risky for you but”, he sounds tentative all of a sudden and Taehyung braces for what he knows is already coming, “it is high time you told him you are an omega. Mating season is so close and your omega is getting antsy, so are aunty and uncle for your mating now that Dowoo has become the head alpha-”

“I know, Jiminie”, Taehyung says, sounding tired as he nervously looks around and refuses to match eyes with Jimin,”I will tell him, I have to right? Just let us graduate, then I will tell him, take him to the pack and introduce him to amma and appa okay?”

Jimin patted Taehyung's forehead with the back of his hand, “I just want everything to settle for you like it is for me and Taemin. It has only been a night since Jeongguk went back to his family and you are already this worked up so you guys should make it permanent if it is affecting you this much. Your omega clearly can’t be without him for too long.”

“No it's not that", the omega whines, “but my recital starts in an hour and he is still not here yet, Professor emailed me a bit ago and  am just worried he won’t be able to make it, which is why I am this worked up, Jiminie come on.”

Jimin shakes his head, dropping the subject, “he just texted you right, you clingy baby, he will be here soon.”

Taehyung looks at his phone again, staring at the last message Jeongguk sent when he sees another call coming in.

He frowns when he sees a call from the pack. They do not use phones in the pack so they do not talk every day, Taehyung calls them once a week to talk to them but they do not call him randomly like this.

“What’s wrong?” Jiimin asks when he sees Taehyung’s face.

“I am getting a call from the pack’s telephone.”

Jimin frowns at that too, “maybe someone needs you to do something in the city?” He checks his own phone and frowns harder when he didn’t get a call but Taehyung is. If the pack needed something, it would always be Jimin they would call, not Taehyung. A kind of eerie feeling drops on both of their spines as they match each other’s eyes.

It is a communal phone. But it could only be either the elders or the royals from the pack who would have access to it.

Taehyung picks it up, “hello?”

“Taehyung”, Taehyung freezes as he abruptly stands up at the voice, at the tone his name was called upon, “amma?” he asks, eyes wide. Jimin stands up with him, his own eyes wide now, unknown fear seeping in them.

“Taehyung, it's the heir”, his mother’s voice is broken.

The omega frowns as he matches Jimin’s eyes, “Dowoo? What is wrong with Dowoo?”

Taehyung doesn’t think he recognizes his own voice at the moment.

Shaken sobs from the other side makes Taehyung’s heart still. His chest withers in on itself.

“Amma”, he whispers, “what- what happened? Why are you-”, his throat is clogging up as the bad feeling in him intensifies ten folds.

He stands frozen in between the busy college. The chatter of people increases as they come in for the day. People turn to look at him with enamoured eyes- even in this state Taehyung looks like a deity amongst them. Jimin holds Taehyung’s arm tightly.

“They found her body last night,” his mother says in between huge choked breaths, and Taehyung’s heart actually stops, “Do- woo our Dowoo’s, my daughter,” his mother cries as her sobs echo in Taehyung’s body.

Dowoo’s face flashes against Taehyung’s eyes. Taehyung’s older alpha sister. Taehyung’s only sibling.

The one whose coronation Taehyung attended just last week. For which Taehyung had left everything- even Jeongguk- for a week to go and celebrate it. Dowoo had just become the Head Alpha after his father. They just celebrated her. Threw the biggest feast the pack had seen in decades.

“Dowoo…”, Taehyung’s voice fails him.

He had grown up with Dowoo. She loved him like her own child.

Jimin is still looking at him in confusion and fear, not understanding.

“Tae, you and Jimin, come home. Your appa- he is not doing good. We have to- the funeral-” she starts sobbing again, her sobs shaking Taehyung as the omega stares at nothing. His ears start ringing as the voices around him- the chatter, the birds- everything disappears into a distant echo.

“They took away the Head Alpha of the pack, the hunters- the bastards-”

Taehyung feels like wretching as his insides turn on itself. He pushes the phone towards Jimin violently and rushes to the nearest corner he finds away from the crowd that had started to gather around him as his insides throb. He doesn’t see Jimin putting the phone up to his ears and freezing when he hears the news too. He only feels the bile rising, burning inside him as he clutches at the wall, his insides closing in.

He can barely breathe as the panic seizes him and he vomits his inside out against the already dirty wall. His hands are shaking as they mindlessly pull at his hair as hard as he can because it cannot be. His throat is clogging up with the need to scream as thousands of pins prickle his insides and he feels his eyes stinging. This cannot be his reality. This cannot be happening.

Not his sister.

Not Dowoo.

No no no no no-

The hunters got to his sister.

Their worst nightmare came alive.

He pukes again as he coughs violently, his insides hurting from the intensity of it.

He doesn’t notice when Jeongguk, who he has been waiting for the whole morning arrives and stills.

“T-Tae?”

He doesn’t hear the horrified whisper.

Jeongguk comes closer, eyes widening in panic when he sees the red mixed with the vomit right in front of Taehyung.

Blood.

His own blood runs cold. Funny how he has seen so much blood in his life yet it is Taehyung’s that makes his own blood run cold in fear. He runs to hold Taehyung only for him to shriek- “get away, get away, get away-”

Jeongguk immediately lets him go, his heart seizing in panic as he looks at Taehyung, his own eyes almost stinging, “h-hey, Tae- Taehyung, look I am not touching you anymore,” he raises his hands, voice barely audible, he ignores everything just for Taehyung, “Taehyung,” he says, “Taehyung,” he whispers like a worship.

Taehyung barely looks at him, his hands pressed to his ears, shaking.

Jeongguk inches closer when the other stops shouting.

Before he gently with the lightest of fingers grabs his shaking fingers before pressing onto them, “Tae,” he says firmly now, putting more pressure onto his hands making Taehyung look at him but not registering him.Looking past him with his empty fearful eyes.

“It's Jeongguk. Do you see me?”

Taehyung still stares at him. Does not reply.

Jeongguk’s heart pains as he gulps before his hands slowly release Taehyung’s hands to grip at his face, “Tae, it's Jeongguk,” he says softly, “You know me. You know I love you and would never hurt you, yes?”

Taehyung stares at him. Jeongguk gulps before he is taking the omega’s fingers, not caring that they are vomit and tear stained as he separates the omega’s index finger and presses it against his own face, “See? It is Jeongguk. I am here. With you. Can you count the moles on my face? You love doing that, no?”

At the word moles, Taehyung looks at him, actually looks at him before his finger gains some strength and he presses it by himself against Jeongguk’s face. Before gliding it down to touch the one below Jeongguk’s lips and Jeongguk gives him a fragile smile, “one,” he counts for him.

Taehyung’s hands slide up Jeongguk’s face to touch the one on his nose, “two.”

“Thats right, baby,” Jeongguk says, “can you breathe as you count like I am doing?”

He breathes in and out loudly, demonstrating it for him and watches as Taehyung follows silently.

“That’s better.”

He watches as Taehyung breathes in and out. In and out and the shaking calms bit by bit, agonizingly slow.

“Can I hug you?” Jeongguk asks gently. Taehyung does not reply as he lunges at Jeongguk to hug him tightly, starting to cry again,as he grips him like his life depends on it, unbeknownst to the omega, hugging the brother of his sister's murderer. A murder’s celebration Jeongguk had just gone to Busan to join.

“This is absolutely bullshit, Jimin, the fuck do you mean I can’t attend my own boyfriend’s sister’s funeral?” Jeongguk snaps, his voice tinged with anger as he looks at Jimin. His eyes are dark and intense.

And the omega understands his anger- hell if Jeongguk was an alpha and someone was telling him that he could not be with his omega at a time like this, he would have had all the rights to raise all hell and Jimin would have no power but-

“Jeonggukkie you have to try and understand. We come from a really traditional family and they will not take the fact that Taehyung has a boyfriend without letting them know lightly and it will cause drama during a funeral”, he lies, feeling guilty but Jeongguk does not know.

And Taehyung is in no position now to break it to him either.

Jeongguk gets more frustrated at that, “so what?” Jeongguk snaps, “Does that mean I have to marry him now to be somehow eligible to be seen by your family? Fucking fine, I have all the intentions of marrying him anyways, I will marry him now if thats all it takes for me to be there for him because I cannot- I refuse to leave him alone like this.”

Jimin presses his lips in a thin line. Feeling helpless as he looks at the human.

Taehyung is inside his room, still crying silently and refusing to register anything while Jimin and Jeongguk are in the living room with Jeongguk pacing in circles and pulling at his hair in frustration.

“Jiminie”, Jeongguk says, his voice barely levelled, barely controlled as his eyes look crazed at the utter helplessness he feels because he has never felt this kind of restriction in his whole life.

He has always been able to do anything he has always wanted so it suffocates him because for the first time in his life, he is without any control, “please you don’t understand, you have seen Taehyung, he is breaking. I can’t- I don't- everyone is going to be busy with the funeral, nobody is going to take care of him, he is going to be left all by himself and I can’t have that.”

“I will be there for him”, Jimin insists but Jeongguk cuts him off, “how? She was your cousin too! You have your own grief to handle, how could I expect you to forget yourself and handle him? Shit.”

It is hilarious. Jeongguk who has been known his whole life for being so controlled, so level headed, so stubborn in his wants and unraveling, unbeknownst to him, because of an omega.

“Gukkie”, Taehyung is standing on the doorway all of a sudden, hands curled around himself, his eyes red from all the crying as he tries to smile but it only comes out as grimace that hurts Jeongguk’s heart, “I will be okay. My parents and Jiminie and my other cousins will help me, I will be okay”, he says again.

Jeongguk looks at him, “baby.”

“Gukkie, please? We-we can’t be delayed anymore. My amm- mom called again. Jiminie and I need to go”, Taehyung whispers, putting a hand out for Jeongguk to take as he walks to the human.

Jeongguk pulls him to himself possessively as he hugs him tightly, breathing him in, “you are asking the impossible of me, Tae.”

“Just think that I am going to my city for a night out like you did yesterday hmm?” Taehyung’s voice breaks and Jeongguk shuts his eyes, feeling his pain as if it is his own, “I will see you. Come pick me up from the train station when we come back?” he whispers.

Jeongguk’s hands fists beside himself as he bites his tongue till he feels the iron taste of his own blood, he looks at Taehyung with heavy eyes as he holds his hands to walk to his car parked underneath the building.

He is going to drive them to the train station.

He remains silent the whole ride. Jimin, Taemin and Taehyung do not dare to speak much either. Jeongguk avoids looking at Taemin, knowing he would get pissed off at the fact that Taemin gets to go but not him. Taehyung kisses him and he puts a kiss on his forehead and the apples of his cheeks, “Thank you for taking care of the recital for me. Professor Kim will-”

“He will never penalize you, I took care of that Tae, just, promise me you will take care of yourself, hmm?” Jeongguk asks gently, holding both of the omega’s wrist in his hand as he bends to kiss them.

Taehyung watches him tearfully, “I promise Gukkie.”

Jeongguk nods, his heart just wilts as he lets those frail wrists go and watches them all enter the train station.

He turns then and waits to dial a number.

“Jeonggukie?” Yoongi answers, voice tired with sleep as it is still around noon.

“Hyung, I need you to find out about a murder in Daegu from early in the morning today.”

“Daegu?” Yoongi echoes, “a murder of a human?” he asks, voice careful now.

“Yes”, Jeongguk says, “of Taehyung’s sister.”

Yoongi gasps, “your Taehyung’s sister?”

Jeongguk grits his teeth, his Taehyung but he cannot go to the funeral, fuck, feeling his previous anger butt heads with his already frayed emotions, “yes”, he murmurs, “I need to find out if that fucking wolf pack had any hand in this. If they killed an innocent woman for revenge for what Jaehyun did last night to their shitty excuse of a Head Alpha because if they did, I will personally ensure I get rid of every single wolf from that pack I swear to god.”
