The day was very breezy and chilly, snow falling softly to the ground, grass covered almost completely by it, Book looked out her window, she could barely see anything from the coldness of that day
She rolled in her bed and stretched out her hand to her bedstand to reach for her phone, refusing to stand up, with a lot of effort she was able to grab it, looking for who was available to hang out with
No one seemed to be awake
no one except Nickel, who probably didn't even sleep
Book grinned and texted him
Book: Nickel are you there???
he left her on read
Book: Nickel I know you're awake.
Nickel: Fiiiiine what's up?
Book: Do u wanna meet up later? im bored
Nickel: alr, but it's too cold now, let's wait.
Book turned off her phone and left it to her side.. waiting and waiting for his notification to pop-up, in the meantime she made her bed, did herself a nice breakfast and showered, she was very excited to go out
as soon as Nickel called her, she rushed and picked up the second her phone rang
"Hello!" She greeted in excitement, "Uhuh.. meet you at the light post?.. What light post?... ok.. uhuh, okie bye bye" Book squealed in joy and put on the cute boots she was saving just for a day like this, her entire outfit looked like it was planned for days, Weeks even!
an adorable scarf with a light blue coat, white babydoll top, ruffled green skirt, pair of white thighs, and her boots that had pompoms she took ages to make, plus sewing them to the boots was hell- it was all perfect, clothing that could keep her warm- and- cute!
She brought her hair to a bun and left to her meeting point
Nickel was waiting for her just where he told her he would, compared to Book he was wearing a much more casual fit than her, they waved at each other and hugged
"Hi Nickel!" Book said, she couldn't contain her joy
"Uhhh we should do a Snowball fight first!" Nickel jumped like a jolly little bunny ( aw.. so cute, so cute🤤)
Book shook her head "Nuhuh! we should go for a walk!" They began discussing about what to do first but an idea popped in Book's head
"Wait! we should rock paper scissors!"
Nickel pouted- "But it's not fair! you always win!"
"Maybe you're just not good enough!" Book stuck out her tongue, they began their rounds of rock paper scissors and the winner was…
Book!
She laughed in his face and mocked him -"I did it! we're going for a walk around first!" squeezing his hand tightly, they made their way around the park, But someone looked more interested than another..
"Uuurgh what are we even supposed to do on a walk!"
"Take a guess!" Book got nudged by him and giggled "Hm, ok.. we can.. talk? take breaks in benches and.. talk more.. I dunno!" She shrugged, practically dragging him around like a dog in a leash, He groaned and whined silently, as they walked around the park, Book started saying fun-facts about every tree, leaf, animal and bird- call she recognized, trying to make this fun, but it really wasn't helping since Nickel looked as uninterested as before
“That seems to be a.. house sparrow, it's pretty common around but aren't they cute Nickel?.... Nickel?”
she looked at her friend, who was trying hard not to fall asleep on the spot, he noticed her glare and immediately straightened his back and shook his head
“Wha.. oh yeah that's pretty cute.. i guess”
She rolled her eyes and continued guiding him around
After a little bit of that they found a nice bench and sat down, As Book continued to rant about her favorite species and things she saw today, he silently admired her, not paying a bit of attention of what she was saying,he nodded and let out a soft “Uh-uh” at whatever she was saying, to be fair, she looked very pretty today, every move she did was somehow fascinating to him in a way, from the way she adjusted her glasses every time her gaze lowered, to the short glances she gave him to make sure he was listening
"Wowie.. zowie.." He whispered to himself, Book was a really good friend of his, but seeing her from this close made him realize how beautiful she really was, it made his body feel all jellyous ( ILLIT!) and weak
Book continued yapping, this time smiling at Nickel as she did so, that made his legs feel wobbly, he suddenly started to feel warm and started to feel something in his stomach
"Nickel.. am i boring.. Do you want me to stop talking?” Her smile suddenly faded
Nickel snapped out and nodded.. "Uhuh.. just.. give me a second" He stood up and walked away, leaving Book confused and surprised after what he said
"A-Are you leaving?!"
As he left he shook his head "Give me five! I'll be back!"
He looked around the park, he needed something to impress Book with and quick! Anything! He spotted a few flowers, if he brought her a bit of those, could it work as his charm?
He stared at the gorgeous flowers, he couldn't just grab the first flowers he saw, they had to be perfect, not one singular petal could be missing, Nickel tried to remember the flowers she talked about earlier.. he forgot their names because of being all focused on her beauty, He snapped his fingers, and closed his eyes, this had to be quick
was it.. lilies? no, something more like- ugh! ill just take these ones!
He picked out the flowers that matched the colors of her clothing, that would be a really cute detail she would notice and praise him for, just thinking about her reaction made him giggle and want to kick his feet like a little girl
he walked back, very proud of himself, oh yeah she was going to love this and love him and it was all…
Book was still in the bench alright, but her attitude shifted completely, she was sitting there cross armed and cross legged and tapped her foot impatiently, ignoring him completely
Nickel circled around the bench- “Are you mad?” He started to rethink if he said anything wrong but he couldnt manage to find out what
“Book, answer me, are you mad? why?” He kept repeating the same questions over and over until she gave up
“You called me boring.” Book murmured, looking away from his direction
Nickel’s mouth opened but the words didn't come out until later
“I did? - I mean...- I'm sorry, Book..” He sat very close to her, their shoulders touching, he tried to loop his arm around hers but she didn't allow him, not yet.
“Apologize properly.”
Nickel grinned slightly and let out a long ‘siiiiigh…’
“Im really sorry, Book i wasnt aware of my words.. can we please interact again?... Bookie?”
Book couldnt help but giggle, This made Nickel snort and laugh with her
“You like it? My nickname Bookie?”
Book nodded “I guess its cute… call me that from now on”
Nickel stopped laughing and cleared his throat, he got up and stood right in front of her
“For you, Bookie!” He showed her the flowers and offered them to Book
“Aw Nickel! you shouldn't!” She received them and held them in her palm gently. “And these are my favorites too! oh you really do listen!” She kept the flowers in her bun, placing them one by one trying not to squish or damage them in any way
Nickel felt Book’s arms wrap around him, making him giggle, he hugged her back refusing to let go of her any sooner
“Hey Book?”
“Yeah?”
“I had a lot of fun today, even if you made me take that long and dumb walk.. but you were there with me so that made it special.”
Nickel was taken off guard by Book as she peppered kisses everywhere in his face, Now this made him heat up completely, he pulled away her unexpected move made him feel very warm very very hot
“Eh.. too much?” She tilted her head fidgeting with her skirt, starting to regret whatever that was
Nickel shook his head impatiently - “No! i mean-” That was louder than expected “No, i just.. Rolly, Polly- I didnt expect that at all.. but.. its not like im complaining tho.. heh” Book looped her arm around his, something he wanted to do, but it still felt nice, they began walking away to the light post again, this means their little ‘date’ was coming to an end
but the little thing they had going on? that definitely isn't, in fact, it was just the beginning
When Book arrived home, she placed the flowers in a vase, giving them water and a nice environment, she took a picture of the scene and sent it to Nickel
