Chapter Text
Being an idol… It wasn't something I had ever seriously considered.
Manager Saitou said lies could become love. That if you kept saying something, eventually it would feel true.
I just… don’t think I can do it.
I walked down the street, hands in my pockets. Let out a quiet breath.
I hate people. I lie all the time.
So how am I supposed to say ‘I love you’… and mean it?
I stopped.
Looked up.
The sky was empty — doing nothing, saying nothing back.
"…I wish I could experience that feeling with someone." The words came out before I could stop them.
Silence.
"…That was a stupid wish."
A pause
"…Birthday wishes don’t come true anyways."
When I got home I shut the door and slid down against it.
The room was quiet like something was missing.
I clutched my legs to my chest.
"…Why do I even exist…"
CRASH!!
I flinched.
Head snapped up.
Something had come through the balcony. The glass was gone. The railing was bent sideways.
And sitting in the wreckage of my sofa — a boy.
"Ow… that hurt." He stood up, rubbing the back of his head.
I stared at him with wide eyes.
He glanced around as he walked — straight past me — toward the balcony.
I snapped out of it. "…Hey—"
He didn't respond as a gold and silver aura engulfed him.
Then… he was gone.
I stared at the broken floor. The shattered glass.
"…What was that…?"
CRASH!! It was coming from outside.
I rushed to the balcony and grabbed what was left of the railing.
A monster. Wrong in a way I couldn't put into words. People were running. Screaming.
And in the middle of it — him. Moving too fast to follow properly.
He darted side to side, trying to control the creature as it lashed out.
However, it caught him.
And hurled him.
His body hit the side of a building hard.
…!
A second passed.
He walked out.
Unharmed. His hands crackled — gold on one side, silver on the other. Something between lightning and fire.
He didn't hesitate.
Closed the distance — his fist was through it. Too fast. Too clean.
The creature collapsed.
Silence fell.
After a moment he walked back towards the damage.
Then — he was in front of me again.
"Hey."
I jumped slightly.
"Sorry about your place."
He held something out. "This should cover it."
A cheque. I stared at it.
Then at him.
2 million yen.
"…What?"
"I've got to go," he said, forcing it onto my palm.
"See you." He winked.
The gold and silver aura surrounded him again.
"Wait—!"
Gone.
I stood there on the broken balcony, cheque in hand, wind coming through where the glass used to be.
