“Ohhhh! Pancakes!!” Dazzled squealed smelling them from downstairs.
“Yes yes!!” Jack was seemingly excited.
They both got handed plates sitting at the counter on some stools, both holding a fork Sun and handed them including the plates. They were chocolate chip pancakes with dazzle having her special peanut butter on it. Jack liked his with a lot of syrup so his was covered in syrup. Sun started places some scrambled eggs on their plates too. Each pancake tasted just the right amount of sweet the chocolate almost literally the right amount that should be added. After the breakfast the two kids were content til lunch time would hit. Suns a great cook
Sun handed them their lunches as they put it in their backpacks including some homework and stuff for show-and-tell. They said goodbye to Sun and Jack gave Solar a quick hug before leaving.

The day went as usual, dazzle and Jack got to school greeting the small group of friends they had. They got to their first class with the teacher and did their usual class. Before getting to lunch. Dazzle had a sandwich same with Jack, they usually had the same lunches and a small desert of some kind like a cosmic brownie. They were also content after lunch going on normally with their day and everything seemed okay. Even in fact today was fun!
They got picked up from school by solar as they talked about what they did that day. About what they learned in math and what new things they learned in English like new definitions and moving on to harder books because they were advancing or said so from the teacher. Solar seemed proud of the two congratulating them for their school efforts. They arrived home and they ran to their room to play dropping their backpacks excited to go home and do whatever.
Until-
Solar reminded them on homework. The two groaned as they went into their backpacks and took home work sitting at the counter and doing it together

Later that night the two had finished homeowkr and were now hanging out in the room playing cowboys.
“Draw!”
The two giggled as they pretended to shoot eachother jack falling over dramatically as if he got shot as dazzle squealed out a victory and laughed, Jack also laughing on the floor.
“I’m gonna go use the bathroom” dazzle said to Jack who was still giggling on the floor.
“Okay!” Jack responded starting to sit up. As dazzle walked over to the bathroom as went inside to do whatever she needed. Jack started to get up.
The day was basically just like any other day. Sun woke up and went to work at the daycare in his usual clothing of a white collared shirt and his yellow vent with sun flowers on it. Moon woke up and went to the lab to work on some other stuff including solar who wanted to work on jacks updates to improve him as he went on. Dazzle and Jack went to school, they packed their lunches and had some breakfast Sun made before leaving to go to work.
“Jack!! Come down to the kitchen for a minute I have new updates for you!” Solar hollered from the kitchen.
“Okay!”
He started walking towards the door a sudden ache in his back, he tried to ignore it by simply stopping and rubbing his back thinking he fell on the floor a little too hard, he made it to the door way before a sudden sharp pain sprung through his back.
His breath hitched as he stopped as his path, the sudden sharp pain in his back suddenly becoming more and more suddenly coming in waves.
It hurts
It burns
Suddenly it all came in. Sudden pure agony that made his shut his mouth suppressing any yells or screams but was becoming more hard to keep down.

Solar pov-
Solar stood in the kitchen having a conversation with moon while Sun made some dinner. Solar browsed through his lap top checking over jacks new updates just to make sure he didn’t mess anything up.
“Jack! Could you come down to the kitchen for a minute!” Solar yelled
He waited for a bit about 5 minutes past and Jack hadn’t came down. He didn’t think about it much just thought he got distracted again. Sun handed solar a spoon of whatever he was making for dinner. He taste tested it
“Damn sun that tastes good, I think dazzle and Jack would love that, speaking of Jack”
He paused listening for foot steps.
“Jack!?” He called out again. No response

Jack felt his back burn and pure agony rip through his back his hand staying over his mouth, it hurt.
“Dad!” He yelled
“DAD!” He yelled again
Solar heard his name being yelled out almost in a ragged scream.
“Jack!?” He turned towards the door frame glancing at Sun and moon before bolting towards their room.
“Jack I’m coming!”
He ran up the stairs to their room busting the door open. He saw Jack, arms wrapped around his self trembling, shaking, crying a hand over his mouth. And suddenly his knees buckled.
“Shit-“
Solar grabbed Jack before he hit the ground.
“It’s okay Jack it’s okay”
Jack could barely speak he felt like his spine was being twisted and churned, he yelled out in his dad’s arms. Sun and moon running upstairs to see the commotion. Dazzle coming out the bathroom.
“Sun get dazzle!”
Sun didn’t question quickly grabbing dazzle telling her everything was going to be okay, while moon rushed over by their side to see what was happening.
Jacks insides felt like they were shifting more wails escaping him, he gripped his dads shirt his breath suddenly becoming quick and short gasps.
“Jack deep breaths it’s all going to be okay” to be honest solar didn’t even know himself what was happening or if he was going to be okay.
“Dad!- it hurts-“ Jack yelled
“I know it does bud just wait a minute alright?”
Jack cried more the pain intensifying almost by the second, his ears rang he could barely hear his dad, another strangled scream left his lungs, just trying to get some breath in.
Solar and moon looked at each other, panicked as jacks strangled screams and yelled escaped. They both tried to ask him.
“Jack where does it hurt?”
He sobbed more coughing in between
“Back- insides-“
He chocked out his breath becoming heavier. Solar tried rubbing the back of his head to calm him down as moon examined his back. From the looks of it the metal was shifting. Almost like something trying to escape from his back.
The more it shifted the more Jack yelled. Solar tried to soothe him as much as he could.
Jack started tensing more yells escaping. He wasn’t breathing right.
“Jack breath with me okay?”
He needed Jack to breath or else this is all going to turn south fast. Jack looked up teary eyed and tried to look at him but instead gasped and hunched over again, shifting in his spot.
His insides felt as if they were twisting his spine being poked and prodded, he cried and yelled nothing was helping it was doing the opposite getting worse. He kept muttering dad if he was yelling. The waves felt like as it they were tsunamis, he bite down another scream. Whatever was trying to escape him wanting out and was pushing his ends skeleton his joints not liking that. He panicked, the hyperventilating getting worse.
“Shit, Solar hold jack still for a second I think I understand what’s happening”
He saw two smalls dents around his shoulder blades or where they would.
He grabbed his metal cutters from his belt and apologized to Jack before starting to make two slits on his back.
Jack yelled as loud as he could. Trying to writh out of solars arms to get away every wave of pain wracked his body the pain becoming unbearable. Moon kept opening the metal, oil spilling out into the carpet below, Jack gripped his dad trying not to let his daggers come out. Solar held him and watched moon work just trusting whatever was going to happen to work. Moon took some pliers and started opening one side of the slits more, Jack squirmed in his spot trying to pull away Solar holding him there tight.
“Dad please! Dad!” He begged, solar out his hand out for moon to pause, Jack sat there his throat raw from yelling and still yelling, each ragged scream leaving him his spine twisting being poked and prodded, his joints not liking whatever pressure was going on inside, what is happening!
Moon stopped before continuing to the other side, continuing what he did for a bit smile Solar kept Jack still, trying to calm his fast gasps for breath. They were getting shorter and shorter.
Moon finally got the two slits open, that sudden thing that was moving around appearing around the slits. Solar held Jack just praying he’d won’t freak out.
Those things in his back suddenly started to appear out finally escaping his back after being trapped for so long. As they rushed out his bag a shrill-ish yell ripped out of jacks voice box, moon watched his back with concentration.
Solar continues to console Jack as much as he could.
The things stopped moving, they seemed fully out of jacks back. Jack sat there his hyperventilating not going away fast, solar helped him slow his breathing down.
“Shh it’s okay it’s over, the pain should stop”
Jack tried to follow still scared of what just came out his back. Moon stared in fascination.
They were wings
But how?
Moon touched them gently to not hurt Jack since they were new and they had a bit of purple goo stuff on it.
Rez
God damn it of course it’s Rez.
They calmed Jack down his breath now just heavy breathing still some soreness and rawness from his back.
“Dad”
“Yeah Jack?”
“I don’t feel good”
Jack looked up at his dad the nausea hitting him, the pain of everything hitting his stomach.
Moon quickly grabbed a play bucket, they need something quick without moving Jack far. Jack grabbed it and puked out whatever was left in his stomach, breakfast, lunch, all in the bucket. He coughed the rest out, about 4 rounds of this before he stops. He’s breathing heavier now his whole body just wracking in trembles. His dad sighs as he gets picked up and gently taken to the bathroom for a shower. Moon stayed outside the door.
Solar set jack in the bath tub taking down the shower head and started washing him off. The hot water felt nice after everything. He’s still lightly crying but Solar made sure he was clean and got him out the bath tub, drying him off his a towel and grabbing him some sweat pants the oh so obvious wings blocking any shirts in the mean time. He gave Jack his beanie and carried him out the bathroom. Moon followed, Solar brought Jack to his bed laying him down examining the wings, they were a dusk red that faded into a brown to a tan. He looked at his oh so exhausted son and stopped playing with the wings and let him sleep.
Later -
Dazzle came in the room to check on Jack, Solar brought in Sun and dazzle to see Jack. He was still asleep as they cut up an old shirt for Jack to wear in the mean time.
“Woah- he has wings!?” Dazzle sounded excited
“I can see why he was screaming” he had a face of somber and that he felt bad for him.
He came over and run his hand over his wing, they were wings that’s all he could say.
“Damn” Sun muttered
“Cuss word!” Dazzle scolded Sun
“Alright alright-“ he gave her a nickle from his pocket.
Jack laid there for the rest of the night next to Solar who was sitting on the bed watching him to make sure he was okay. Jack looked exhausted but relieved, some tears becoming more prompt, eye bags and slightly sniffles.
“It’s all going to me okay Jack”
