Chapter Text
When the Lines Start Blurring
How far can you trust someone before trust becomes its own kind of blindness?
Love has always had this cruel, particular talent — it doesn't announce itself. It doesn't knock. It seeps in through the cracks you forgot to seal, settles somewhere between your ribs, and makes itself at home before you ever thought to ask its name. And by the time you notice, it's already rearranged the furniture.
They say love makes you blind. But maybe that's not quite right. Maybe love doesn't take your sight — maybe it just quietly shifts what you're looking at. The signs were there. They always are. But somewhere between the late nights and the lowered voices, between the accidental brushes and the silences that said more than words ever could, the signs stopped looking like warnings and started looking like reasons to stay.
That's the thing about two people getting too close — the world doesn't end dramatically. It just... shrinks. Until there's only the two of you, and the air between you, and the question neither of you is brave enough to say out loud.
And then one day, in the middle of all that quiet gravity pulling you together, you stop and look at them — really look — and something in your chest does something you weren't prepared for.
Is this the same person I was trying so hard to leave?
And the terrifying part isn't the answer.
The terrifying part is realizing you're no longer sure you want to know it.
