Chapter Text
The only sound that filled Steven's ears were the sound of his shoes tapping against the floors of the endless void of a waiting room. It drown out all of the soothing words splilling uncontrollably from the mouth of the crystal gems and Greg.
It wasn't until Garnet placed her hand on Steven's shoulder did he take a deep breath and calm down, after all she could see into the future and the stillness in her face must mean that everything was well... right.
After what felt like an eternity, they were called into the hospital room and there she, Connie, holding what Steven deemed priceless. He got closer and placed a soft kiss on Connie's forehead. He looked down at the fragile being but among it's pinkish skin and human features, something stood out.
A faint shine caught his eye. Steven shifted the sheets covering the child to reveal a pink gem, a pink diamond gem. It was a mystery how she even inherited such but he'd already been prepared. A few months ago out of curiosity and uncontrollable impatience, sapphire couldn't help but see into the future... and there it was, every possible timeline had a gem. She understood that not saying anything until the day could cause a bit of a scene so she admitted. They decided that it was best for her to not meet the diamonds or to find the stories of Pink diamond's cruelty or else who knew what could happen...
"Congratulations to the both of you " Pearl said, trying to lighten the mood but it wasn't really working
It wasn't a bad day, infact it was great but the sight of the gem only made the air heavy.
