Running the Red Light

Summary:

The Grimm threat was dealt with half a century ago, leaving the SDC and other big businesses to race out and claim all of Remnant’s natural resources. Now, wealth belongs only to the elite, while the rest of Remnant’s populace are left to scrabble in the dirt or, if they’re plucky enough, try to make a name for themselves.

Will you be able to turn a small starting figure into a fortune? Or will you be just another forgotten figure forced to work in the mines? It's up to you to decide.

Chapter Text

This story was originally a management-based quest from Fiction.live by Andora, based in the RWBY world, at the time of canon, but HEAVILY AU. The main changes to the lore is explained in the first chapter, but basically the main goal is to “make a lot of money so you can win your place in the elite of Vale.” Anything else achieved along the way – romance, a reputation, followers, or anything else, is up to the audience of Fiction.live.

The premise of the quest is to give the audience the rough freedom to determine the direction of events and how cruel or nice they are while doing so. The tone will be as DARK or as fluffy and lovely as the audience wants with the accompanying choices to match. This also comes with the downside of the certain choices and decisions being narratively inconsistent with prior characterization, being the nature of narrative choice based quests.

I have the privilege and permission from the author to post this to fanfic sites like Ao3 and Fanfiction.net. I will be attempting to port this in such a way to make sense as a coherent story, with the fourth wall breaking author's notes and most technical quests mechanics being edited out. Links to the OG quest and to a VN based on the quest will be in the description of every chapter.

Hope ya’ll enjoy this story as much as I did!
