Chapter Text
Saturdays are one of Denki’s favorite days, and it wasn’t because he was off of school. Every other week, on Saturday, the class gets together to plan one outing for the whole day. The week before last, Mina had roped everyone into going to the movie theater, which caused a bit of chaos as to what movie they would be going to see, but eventually Aizawa got tired of them discussing their outing during class, so he just announced that everyone can go see different movies instead of the same one.
That’s the only reason why Mina’s movie plans worked, and the only reason Denki chose to watch an action movie with Kirishima, Sero, and surprisingly Bakugou instead of watching a romance movie with Mina and the other girls.
This Saturday was different though, because it was a mall Saturday. They usually go to the mall once a month, if not twice, but class mall days were super rare, which is the reason why Denki’s bouncing off the walls while glancing at every store they pass, which was starting to annoy Bakugou, judging by him glaring at the back of Denki’s head.
“Guys, we should check out all the clothing stores first.” Mina called out excitedly, causing the others to groan. If they were to go to every clothing store that caught Mina’s eyes, they wouldn’t have a chance to actually shop for things they want.
“Mina, that's going to be the whole trip.” Kirishima whined, trying to reason with Mina, only causing her to roll her eyes.
“It won’t even take that long. I already have a few things in mind.” Mina comments, turning around to see everyone’s exaggerated looks, along with Bakugou’s growing anger.
“The last time you said that, Mr. Aizawa had to drag us all back to the bus.” Sero reminds, which causes Mina to sigh.
“Do you guys really want to shop, or are you just going to complain the whole time?” Mina said while rolling her eyes, causing Bakugou’s hand to spark a little.
“How about I blast your ass into the next mall over.” Bakugou growled out, causing Mina to squeak and run to hide behind Kirishima, who went to try and calm Bakugou down, only to be stopped by the sound of an explosion. Denki quickly covered his ears, turning to look at the startled expressions of his friends. Mina also has her ears covered, and was looking around to see where the explosion came from. Bakugou was on high alert now, hands sparking as he also looked around the area. Kirishima had involuntarily hardened his skin, looking over at Bakugou to see if he found out where the explosion happened. Sero was the only one who moved, but it was because he saw people running first.
“Guys, this way!” Sero yelled out, already taking off into a sprint towards the area where people were running away. Everyone turned towards his direction, and when Bakugou launched himself forward, everyone’s feet began moving.
“Shouldn’t someone be getting Mr. Aizawa?” Mina yelled out, running a little bit behind Kirishima. She was already looking back to see if some of the others heard the explosion.
“It was pretty loud. He’ll probably appear with some of the others.” Sero responded, barely dodging a father who was running while holding his two girls. Denki was speeding up a bit, just barely matching Kirishima’s speed.
“Shouldn’t we be doing crowd control until we figure out what happened?” Kirishima called out while looking up at Bakugou, who was slower than usual, probably trying to find the villain.
“Like hell I’ll sit and fucking wait. You extras can do crowd control on your own.” Bakugou growled out, grinning when he spotted the person of interest, and he let out this huge explosion, sending him flying faster than the others could run. Behind the smoke Bakugou left, the others could only see the crowd running towards them, not the person Bakugou spotted.
“Bakugou wait!” Kirishima yelled out, speeding up his running, and leaving the others behind as he tried to stop Bakugou from getting into trouble.
“Guys look.” Mina yells out while pointing at a few civilians who were struggling underneath some of the rubble from the explosion. Denki and Sero both looked that way, even though they couldn’t really see where Mina was pointing.
“Shit, we have to help them.” Sero called out, and hopefully Bakugou and Kirishima could hold off the villain until the others arrive, because Mina, Sero, and Denki all turned and ran towards the civilians.

“Are you able to walk?” Denki asked softly, helping a crying little girl stand up. She had been trapped under a huge slab of concrete moments earlier, but with the help of a few bystanders, and Sero, Denki pulled the girl out from underneath. The girl had been clinging onto him moments earlier, sniffling and rubbing snot on Denki’s shirt. Denki didn’t know if the girl could walk on her own, but other people were still crying out for help, and he couldn’t leave her alone like this.
The girl didn’t say anything, but she did sniffle a bit more, wincing as she put pressure on her left leg, answering Denki’s question.
“Okay, that’s fine. You’ll just stay with me.” Denki reassured, picking the girl back up, and letting her head rest against his shoulder. The bystanders from earlier had disappeared, going to help others still trapped, and with no one to really watch the girl, it was Denki’s responsibility until help arrived.
“Denki, over here!” Sero called out, making Denki turn his head to find Sero struggling to lift some rubble off an unconscious male. He already has two bystanders and Mina helping him, but they still couldn’t get it up.
“Daddy.” The little girl whimpered out, also having spotted the man Sero and Mina were trying to save. Denki's heart clenched, and he was quick to look around to try and find anyone who was willing to watch the little girl while he tried to save her father. Everyone was busy, and everyone was so out of reach, that Denki felt himself start to panic.
“Daddy!” The little girl cried louder, reaching her hands out further as she continued to call out for her parent.
“Denki hurry up!” Mina yelled out, looking over at Denki, who was frozen in place, still looking around for someone to take the little girl from him. She doesn’t need to watch her father get rescued, not if…
“Kaminari!” A voice called out, a very deep and familiar voice, one who Denki recognized instantly. Mr. Aizawa was running towards him, along with Momo, Uaraka, Iida, and Todoroki. Denki could feel himself relaxing, just a bit.
“Dadd!” The little girl cried out once more, and that kind of snapped Denki out of his momentary relief. Now, Denki may not be the smartest, and he may have a few dumb moments underneath his belt, but you can’t blame him for what he does next, not when he’s been waiting to give the little girl to someone safe so he could help rescue her father.
Denki took off into a rough sprint, almost tripping over his feet the moment he started, but he made his way towards Mr. Aizawa, who looked surprised, quickly masked that emotion soon after. They met halfway. Denki held out the girl in his arms, who was still looking back at her father.
Mr. Aizawa slowed down and reached for the little girl, confused but also concerned. The exchange happened without words, and the moment the little girl was passed over to Mr. Aizawa, her right hand began to glow, showing a beautiful neon pink. Her hand rested on Mr. Aizawa’s shoulder soon after, much to his sudden disbelief. Denki’s eyes also widened, surprised by the flash of the bright light from the girl’s hand.
Denki became panicked a moment later, realizing that the little girl’s quirk probably just activated, and since she touched Mr. Aizawa, he was suddenly put into an unknown danger, but again, Denki has his dumb moments, and he wasn’t really thinking at the moment.
“Ahh, sorry Mr. Aizawa.” Denki cried out, before turning around and running back towards Sero and Mina, who was already getting help from Iida, who had just reached them. If Denki would have looked back, or had frozen for a second to look at Aizawa’s eyes, he would have seen the neon pink hearts that glowed with sudden desire.
“Daddy.” The little girl whimpered, snapping Aizawa out of his sudden daze. He looked down at the girl, who was still looking back at her father, and he looked her over for injuries while he softly spoke.
“He’s in good hands. Let’s get you somewhere safe first.” Aizawa said softly, turning away and taking off in a light jog to find paramedics, who are with some of his other students, that were helping out the injured at the front of the mall, even though the glowing distance pulled at his heart, and made his eyes glow that bright neon pink once more. He’ll just chalk it down to adrenaline for now. He’ll get this little girl checked out first, then he’ll go back to his students and hope nobody's hurt, Hope Denki isn’t hurt.
