Work Text:
"What's the worst that could happen?" Tenna asked, not listening to Mike.
"Just trust me boss, something bad will happen if you make him sign that contract." Mike warned a second time, making it clear that this is a big deal.
Tenna just rolled his nonexistent eyes "Well whatever 'bad' thing happens, Spamton and I can face it together!" Tenna looked up as he said this, knowing that he'd do exactly that.
"..N... Not this time." Mike looked down for a moment, before looking back up, frowning. "Boss, just.. please don't make him sign that contract."
Tenna just scoffed, crossing his arms. "Ugh... fiiine.. fiiine... I won't..." He said, semisarcastically
Mike's frown tipped up slightly, hoping that just means he'll let this go. "Alright, just trust me on this, Boss."
"Okay okay, you can go now." Tenna said, waving his hand at him. After Mike left the room, Tenna walked over to his desk. As he saw down, he pulled out the contract that he was gonna make Spamton sign tonight. They both have been working for a long time, and with this, it'll make them both big.
Ever since Spamton came to TV TIME, he was amazing, and Tenna yearned to know what his secrets were, and if he got Spamton to sign this contract, he would be obligated to spit them all out to him.
He knew Mike warned him, but whatever could happen, he could fix it with Spamton.
"..Mike won't mind... .." He muttered to himself as he grabbed his telephone and dialing Spamton's number.
~~~
"Sooo.. what did you need, Tens?" Spamton asked, leaning against the couch they were both sitting on.
Tenna scooted closer to him, closing the gap between them. "Well~ we've been working together for a while, haven't we?" He reminded. "And Spamton.. you are phenomenal on stage! The crowd loves you!! ..and love me of course but you know what I mean~"
"Mhm." Spamton nodded, before taking a sip of his drink, as Tenna brought alcohol. "What about that?"
Tenna wrapped an arm around him, before grabbing his own drink from the coffee table to sip. "Well you must have a reason on how your this good, right??" That question made Spamton cringe. Sure, he had his secrets, but those secrets were not for anyone, not even Tenna.
"Well.. I'd like to know a few, so we can both be big together! You can lend some, right?" Tenna stood up from the couch, and walked over to his desk. As he did so, Spamton could feel himself start to sweat. He didn't know what Tenna's plan was, but this situation was starting to look bad.
"Think about it, Spamton. We could be bigshots together! Isn't that what you always say?" He grabbed something that looked like paper from his desk drawer, and placed it in the middle of his desk, before grabbing two chairs for themselves. "Come over!"
As Spamton slowly walked over, subconsciously scratching at his wrists. "Yeah?"
As he took his seat, what he saw below him made his heart keep a few beats. It's a contract.
"I know you have lots of potential, so as your boss, I can make you my co-host! To make you big, to make me big! We can be big together, Spamton!" Tenna shouted gleefully, as Spamton just looked down in horror.
"...D- does it have to be a contract..?" Spamton muttered under his breath, his hands starting to shake.
"Of course it does, silly!! It has to be professional y'know~" He then looked over to a nonexistent audience. "Besides, you've signed contracts before, haven't you?"
Spamton stayed silent on that, just fidgeting his hands from under the desk.
"Well, it's easy! All you have to do is write your name righ-"
"No- I know how! I just ... .." He paused, not knowing how to explain this.
Tenna tilted his head in confusion, before he just grabbed a pen and slid it to Spamton's view.
"Tenna.. I.." Spamton paused once again, now looking away.
"Do you not wanna work with me..?" Tenna asked, in that puppy dog eye tone he usually does to get what he wants.
"It's not that! I just .. can't."
"Well why not!?" Tenna snapped. "Think about it, with your amazing talents, we can be big together on TV TIME!! It'll our dream come true!"
"Well... I know, but maybe we could do this a different way.." Spamton voice faded in volume by the more words he spoke. He shifted in his chair a little.
"Spamton, listen. After you sign your name on this, you can tell me your secrets.. on being a bigshot, and then we can be bigshots together! Isn't that what you want?" Tenna slid the contract closer. "You have to, it'll make our shows audience grow!"
Spamton took a deep breath. Maybe if he signs it fast, they won't find out. Taking the pen, he wrote down his name on the contract, sealing his fate.
The second he unclicked the pen, the ringing started, making Spamton flinch. No, they couldn't of found out this fast..
"I- ... I'll be right back.. I gotta answer that." Spamton quickly ran to his changing room.
Slamming the door open, he grabbed the phone, placing it by his ear. "... ..Hello?"
"...YOU BROKE OUR CONTRACT.. I TOLD YOU WHAT WOULD HAPPEN.. YOU CAN SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR FREEDOM.." They said menacingly.
"I- I'm sorry- I- I didn't-" His pleas only fell on deaf ears.
"THEY ARE COMING FOR YOU, SPAMTON.. DON'T KEEP THEM WAITING.." With the final sentence, the call came to a final end. He heard about the cats before, how once they target you, you can say goodbye to freedom forever.
He was next, and if he stayed here for long, he'd be killed. He had to get out of here, fast.
"Sp- Spammy..? Is the call important?" Tenna's voice reminded him that he was still here.
He has to escape, now.
He dropped the phone, and bolted out of the room as fast as he could, pushing past Tenna. "Spamton!?" He could hear him yell out, but it didn't matter. A few seconds after running he could still hear Tenna. "OH THAT LITTLE ... HE SCAMMED ME!!"
He needed to go, now.
~~~
As he finally got back to Cyber City, he was running down the alley ways, until in the shadows, there they were, chasing him. He was running frantically, having no idea where to hide.
As he ran, he felt one of them just barely bite his arm, another got his leg. There was so many of them, and they bit very very hard. Eventually, he spotted a dumpster. He ran towards it and went in, not even thinking about it. He slammed it close and hid. To make things more secure he grabbed some of the trash bags that were in the dumpster and hid in between them.
He had to hide now, nowhere was save, ever.
