Work Text:
frank and dannys eyes met from either side of the counter, a gaze not met but reflected. it was like each was more busy looking than gawking from being stared at. except danny, he didn't budge. frank fidgeted, sliding hishands across the glass. always shifting from one foot to the other, while danny simply tilted his head after frank finally looked around. but it wasn't like frank losing a staring contest, instead frank had lost interest. danny had no space to wonder why, he dressed plain but more importantly he got to see franks glimpse of the world. danny moved away from the counter, trailing in the previous steps of franks to glance down the isle. when he saw frank already disaparing from view he picked up his pace, wondering what frank would browse for. but the man didn't stop, and danny was glad there were plenty more people in the store. as he got to the darker back isles he turned a corner- his shin hit something, face clamoring foward fr before his feet.
"whoa, sorry there." a smooth voice rang flatly.
dnny turned, a rare thing for his subject to be behind him, he didn't have literal eyes in the back of his head. from the smile on franks face danny could tell he was being sarcastic.
danny spoke,
"i thought you said youd stay in the car...' he complained.
