Chapter Text

“Millie Byron, we need to be out the house in 5 minutes, get your backside downstairs” Flynn shouted up the stairs.

Poppy was sat in the kitchen finishing her toast. Flynn went back into the kitchen sipping his coffee. Millie showed up at the door with a fully rolled up skirt barely covering herself, an untucked shirt and tie barely even tight. She had a purple streak in her hair that had recently being put in much to her mums annoyance.

“If you think you are going to school looking like that, you’ve got another thing coming” Flynn warned. “Skirt down shirt in tie up, don’t even try it Millie”

She sighed changing her uniform and doing as she was told.

“And you will need that for your face” he said throwing her wipes.

“You’re so uncool dad”

“Yeah dads aren’t supposed to be cool, we’re practical, now breakfast” Flynn said.

“I don’t eat it”

“I’m a doctor it’s the most important meal of the day, at least have something”

“Ugh” she sighed grabbing a banana and shoving it in her bag “I’ll have it in a bit” she said grabbing a wipe and wiping her make up off knowing full well she would reapply it when she got to school.

“Good” he said “right come on pops let’s get you both to school”

“Dad, it’s poppy, not pops, not popsicle, just poppy” she sighed walking out.

“Alright” Flynn said opening the door and ushering them both out. “Blue car” he said as he locked up and unlocked the car.

The car journey was pretty uneventful, mainly Millie saying how embarrassed she was about living with her dad. Flynn was ignoring her as he pulled up at the school. “Have a good day girls, I’ll come and collect you at 4:15” he said.

They both hated that they had to get to school early and stay later because of Flynn’s shifts. Flynn went to the ED, where he sat in his car and put his head on the steering wheel.

A knock on the window made him realise he was no longer alone. Stevie looked at him and frowned through the window. Flynn got out.

“You okay?” She asked sipping her coffee walking round to the boot with him.

“Not really, but life isn’t it” he chuckled lightly getting his bag out and starting to walk into the ED

“What’s happened?” Stevie stopped him.

Flynn sighed “Claire’s in the ED, the girls are staying with me as of last night and literally I’m pulling my hair out”

“Oh” Stevie said “teen girls for you”

“Millie is just doing my head in, Russell text me to tell me that Claire’s having issues with Millie as she keeps trying to sneak out” he sighed “we’re gonna have to do the management meeting at my house tonight. I’ll text the others”

Stevie nodded “as long as there’s beer or wine” she smirked heading into the ED with him.

Flynn chuckled “more like a stiff whiskey” he said walking in.

“Can be arranged” she chuckled heading to the staffroom to change. Flynn also coming with her. They both grabbed their scrubs, Stevie leaving a vest top on under her top and shorts under her trousers to put her scrubs over the top. Flynn was similar using his black top under with just his boxers, neither of them caring as they were both still clothed.

“Let’s do this” she smiled putting her stethoscope on and taking a deep breath. She got the rest of her coffee and took an oxycodone with the remainder.

“Still struggling?”

“It’s never going away Flynn” she sighed “just got to grin and bear it” she smiled closing her locker and walking out.

Flynn sighed watching her go, he couldn’t lie, he really liked her.
