Realizing is one thing, doing is another. Kim Yooyeon was a woman of her own volition, until she noticed something regarding Yoon Seoyeon.

Notes:

hi. i have returned from my hibernation. im surprised i wrote this around 4-6pm and its currently 2am so

this is my take about omegaverse, and i find alpha x omega a bit too cliche and knowing me, i really want something different so here it is!! (probably my first and last idk)

theres a reason why they're both alphas. im not forcing anyone to read this if it's not their cup of tea, but if they do, thank you so much.

i have written this from the bottom of my heart, who still struggle to open about myself to my own family. i hope this fic comforts u the same way to myself at least. for now, enjoy the ride

Work Text:

Kim Yooyeon grew up normally. Everything was fine, stagnant, a bit boring, but overall it was okay.

Discovering she was sensitive to scents wasn't a big deal.

But realizing it was all because of someone named Yoon Seoyeon was.

Perhaps it started back in grade school, the first thing that caught her attention was how good Seoyeon smelled.

She wanted to ask what perfume she was using, but they weren't close. Mere classmates being all civil with each other, not casual, not friends—just only acquaintances.

When Seoyeon differentiated into an alpha, it all started to make sense.

No wonder her scent was so strong. And also smelled so damn good.

Eventually Yooyeon also differentiated; an alpha with really good genes meant people would flock over you.

Having this… thing—becoming an alpha is bothersome to her. She'd rather be a beta to be honest, all by herself without care in the world about others. She told Nakyoung about it, the said alpha from a different class (and unfortunately a really great friend) only laughed at her.

She was used to it.

She was also getting used to being an alpha. But she hated whenever people came to her just to profess their love to her. She was pretty much sure they only did because she was that.

Yooyeon doesn't like being called an alpha.

Seriously, why can't just people leave her alone? She'd be happier if they weren't super annoying about her secondary gender.

“You alright?” Seoyeon patted her back one time.

Yet all Yooyeon noticed was the smell of her pheromones.

“You smell nice.”

Great.

Great job, Kim Yooyeon.

Seoyeon paused, blinked twice, then let out a giggle. Her eyes shone brighter than it did seconds ago.

“Thanks. I bet you also smell nice.”

Yooyeon didn't answer her. A part of her wished she did.

They both forgot how the conversation went to this.

…

Omegas and betas alike also flock around Seoyeon. It was already a given, her status as one of the smartest students gave her fame and an alpha to boot. Naturally people wish to have a piece of her attention.

This is how Yooyeon started to notice all other different kinds of scents from other people. She wasn't sure whether it was their pheromones or their perfumes—some were flowery, some fruity, the strange she can't explain kind, or some other natural scents that aren't like those that have been mentioned.

Yooyeon has only one conclusion.

Yoon Seoyeon was the most fragrant of them all.

Then here comes the downside of her sensitivity. The bad odors are two times stronger with her sense of smell. The way her nose picked up scents wasn't a blessing. It was a curse.

“I need people to learn more about hygiene,” Yooyeon said as she covered her nose with a cloth.

Yubin, a classmate she recently became friends with, only sipped her milk. She knew about her situation days after becoming besties with Yooyeon.

“Honestly I'm still amazed your gland is chill about it. Meanwhile your olfactory nerves are having a party.”

“Tell me about it.”

…

Encounters with Seoyeon became more frequent. Maybe because they're near finishing the life of high school.

That one physical education class was the trigger. They were partners assigned to conduct proper ways of stretching.

As usual, Yooyeon was terrible at keeping the talk going. So Seoyeon led the chat, as if she was probing.

“Which university do you plan on going to?” the shorter girl sat on the floor, they were done anyway. She wiped her sweat using her own shirt.

The seemingly distracted Yooyeon acted like she wasn't affected by someone's pheromones, “Haven't thought about it yet. I guess a famous one with a high chance of admission? You know, basic stuff.”

An awkward pause. Yooyeon wasn't even planning to ask Seoyeon back.

“Are you always this bad at talking to friends?”

“Only to strangers, yes.”

“Ow. That hurts. Am I not a friend to you?”

“A classmate. Acquaintances at best,” she quickly said.

Seoyeon grinned, “I should try harder then.”

There were no additional questions this time.

…

Nakyoung noticed everything. Of course she did. She even reported to Yubin about how they study together during free time, the latter reported back saying the three of them are eating and sharing their lunches.

“Honestly if these guys weren't alphas I'd feel like a third wheel,” Yubin said. But it sounded more like a complaint than just a statement. As a beta, she doesn't feel this whenever she's with Nakyoung and Yooyeon.

There's something in the air with Yooyeon that's different whenever she's with her.

Yubin carefully observed her friend's actions. She was picking up a vibe and she doesn't even know that Seoyeon's scent is Yooyeon's favorite yet.

“I think your best friend's gay gay,” she whispered to Nakyoung.

Yubin was so busy gossiping about Yooyeon that she didn't even notice the other one's heart eyes directed at her.

…

Seoyeon definitely knew the power she held over Yooyeon. The worst thing that came out of it is the fact that Yooyeon was letting her.

Pair projects? Seoyeon immediately latches on to her.

Group projects? The same thing.

Individual reports? She still comes to join Yooyeon.

It was like there's some gravity pulling Seoyeon towards this highly sensitive nosed alpha.

This is killing Yooyeon.

Writing her notes while trying not to care about this certain alpha who happens to smell really good to the point of becoming her favorite scent is distracting her up to the deepest parts of her soul.

“Hey,” Seoyeon called. This is how Yooyeon slowly put her pen down, eyes gradually moving to her direction, not knowing this will be her thirteenth reason why.

“Are we friends now?” she asked, her chin resting on her arms, that also happened to rest on the seat’s backrest, and oh, with expectant doe eyes.

God help me.

“Uh—”

“Actually, can we not become friends?”

Like a curious yet lost puppy, Yooyeon slightly tilted her head in confusion.

She was starting to feel hurt. Seoyeon noticed how her shoulders lowered, her eyes twitched.

This was a chance she cannot miss.

“Can we be girlfriends instead?”

She said all that while still in the same position.

Yooyeon, with her mouth agape, hasn't moved for like five seconds.

Then she scratched her head.

“Me?”

“Who else?”

How Yooyeon slowly responded was also how quick Seoyeon was.

The latter twirled a strand of the former’s hair.

“I really like you,” she didn't stop with her seduction tactics, “And I like your scent. It makes me feel comfortable.”

That does it.

Yooyeon swallowed her spit, closed her eyes for a bit and decided.

“Me too.”

Seoyeon's smile and her radiance makes it all worth it.

…

This was how Yooyeon became a demon as a lover. It honestly scares the living out of Nakyoung.

What do you mean her loser best friend is a proactive lover?

“And who the fuck are you?”

Unbothered by her friend's glare, Yooyeon kept on tapping her phone. She doesn't get why her relationship is such a big deal.

A see you later popped on her screen, sent by her beloved girlfriend.

“Stop smiling,” it wasn't clear if it was an order or a request, “This is a horror movie in real life.”

“You're so dramatic,” Yooyeon rolled her eyes.

…

Their relationship was bound to evolve. Yooyeon didn't expect for it to happen this soon, yet it wasn't unwelcomed. In fact, she embraced it, liking it a whole lot more.

She worships every step Seoyeon makes. The most precious. The one and only.

Or maybe she was just down bad. Horrendously bad.

Holding hands were enough to make her go crazy, how much more if they kissed?

“You're adorable, you know that?” Seoyeon booped her nose as she sat on her lap.

“As if I don't get reminded everyday,” Yooyeon answered, scrunching up her face.

It took the shorter alpha exactly five seconds to decide.

“Mind if I kiss you?”

“I—uhh… sure.”

The tips were already red, Seoyeon pinched her girlfriend's cheeks in delight.

She kissed Yooyeon happily.

A few pecks and Yooyeon was already malfunctioning. Seeing this reaction (which Seoyeon already expected), satisfied her greatly.

Then she became greedy.

She wanted more.

The kiss turned deeper. Hungrier. Like a fire engulfing anything it touches. Hands gripped tightly on Yooyeon's skin, releasing pheromones that she loved, tiny gasps and moans filling the air along with it.

It was too much and not enough all the same.

It gets worse as Yooyeon's scent gland responds, their scents slowly blending as it permeates the room.

Seoyeon leaned away, breaking their heated kiss to breathe. Her entire system is screaming Yooyeon. It took everything in her not to bite, to mark her as hers. But before she could even submit to her desires, Yooyeon chased her lips.

A hand grabbing her hair to pull her in as close as she could get, the other on Seoyeon's waist.

They got lost in their own passionate lip locking once again.

No one knew how long it lasted. It felt like it went on for hours.

Together, they were drowning in the best way they could ever think of.

…

Alphas dating alphas isn't forbidden—at least not anymore. Modern society doesn't discriminate, only those who are traditional, stuck in the old times. So far the younger ones are more accepting.

Yooyeon wanted to keep it a secret. The fact that she's dating the brightest sun, another alpha, makes her go spiral. Mostly because she's afraid. Insecure.

While Seoyeon wanted to scream to the entire world that the unreachable moon is right on the palm of her hand, proud of her dating another alpha.

She doesn't care. She refuses to care about the others, because she loves Yooyeon so much. That's the only thing that matters.

Living together was fine, the university immediately offered them a room in their dorms because they're two of the brightest alphas their high school has ever graduated.

Good accommodations, great environment.

Seoyeon doesn't like the fact that they still aren't sharing a bed.

“It's for our own good,” Yooyeon spoke her truth. With the amount of kisses they did, there should be a limit. Everything is good in moderation.

(And the lingering desire she doesn't want to manifest because she's barely keeping it together.)

“Fine,” Seoyeon pouted, “But we still have to kiss three times a day. I have two more left.”

Yooyeon is god's strongest soldier.

…

Their relationship was kept a secret. Seoyeon agreed because to be honest, Yooyeon needs to adjust to the new environment and their relationship.

She was understanding of Yooyeon. Her girlfriend is a tough nut to crack, the only answer is to wait for her patiently and to get out of her own shell at her own pace.

As the older one of the two, she felt slightly embarrassed. She's supposed to be the more mature one here!

“Good morning everyone, I'm Oh Hayoung, I will be your professor for this semester’s history class.”

Yooyeon diligently took notes as she discussed.

The topic went to the hierarchy of secondary genders. How their system failed and lowered the number of omegas as well as the rise of betas.

There was a seemingly cocky alpha who spoke beside her, "Bet omegas on that period loose as fuck.”

“You're a dickhead,” Yooyeon can't help herself. Miss Hayoung has her eyes widened because apparently she—everyone, heard his terrible remark.

“What? If the omegas were rare, then alphas pretty much shared—”

“I need you to shut the fuck up,” Yooyeon aggressively said, “You're making things uncomfortable for everyone because you're shit. You don't even smell nice.”

And then silence.

“You dare tell me I'm a low class alpha!?”

“Oh because you are,” a new voice. It was a woman with a choker and based on how she presented herself, she was an omega. Yooyeon caught a whiff of her scent, and confirmed that she is.

“Bet your dick is small too.”

The guy wanted to retort, but the professor beat him to it, “The three of you will head to my office after this class. Understood?”

No response.

“Understood?” she repeated, with full authority.

“Yes ma'am,” the three answered in chorus.

…

Getting reprimanded on her first day of her first class as a university student ever felt extremely shitty to Yooyeon. But then again, she brought this upon herself.

Did she regret it? No.

The smelly alpha dude got way worse and that was enough.

“You were cool out there,” the woman from earlier said. Her name was Mayu, an omega from Japan.

Yooyeon scratched her head, “I don't think so? I just felt like I couldn't stand him being annoying. Then my mouth started to open on its own.”

She doesn't know what's funny that Mayu started laughing. She hit her arm lightly too.

Are we that close already? So soon?

“You're cooler now than earlier.”

“I don't understand your taste.”

Mayu held out her phone, “Let's be friends, dear classmate!”

Having a newfound friend felt good. So she exchanged contact details without a care in the world.

…

“You reek of omega.”

Seoyeon without any expression on her face is scary. She was smiling earlier too, but after they hugged she suddenly turned into this.

“Oh, sorry. Something happened earlier…”

“Let's call it a night. I still have to prepare for tomorrow's classes. Night.”

Oh no.

  1. She isn't smiling
  2. There's no good in her goodnight
  3. No kisses (⅔)
  4. My girl is mad at me I hope I die

“Seoyeon-ah!”

A slam.

The next day, Yoon Seoyeon acted as if last night didn't happen. She showed her with kisses (only pecks, no tongue or anything), bid her goodbye and went along with her day.

To say that Yooyeon was confused is such an understatement.

Mayu was her classmate in three subjects. Which means they'll be meeting frequently. She's a chill omega and a bit funny too.

Her smartness is often overshadowed by her sillyness, guess that's her charm.

Studying was less intimidating because of friends. Before university, she was able to get by because of Nakyoung and Yubin. And of course… Seoyeon.

She suddenly wants to go back and feel her warmth, falling asleep as she sniffs her neck.

What… Why is her mouth watering?

Yooyeon dismissed it. She had more important things to do.

…

She forgot to take her suppressants. Her neglect to her own body will cost her almost a week for sure. Rutting near midterms is probably not the worst that could happen, but it was close to that for Yooyeon.

Seoyeon was busy after joining an organization. Not wanting to disturb, she didn’t ask for help. This is a matter she can manage herself.

With a heavy body, she trudged her way to find suppressants. No wonder she forgot to take a pill, she wasn’t able to restock!

The next best course of action was to go to the infirmary. Yet her eyes darted towards Seoyeon’s door.

Her vulnerable body went its way to open the door—unlocked—and went inside. There wasn’t any rational thinking that happened, she went straight to her girlfriend’s closet, took out every clothing she could and threw them on the bed.

Was she nesting? Maybe. Nakyoung would definitely tease her about this, ‘How omega-like of you!’ and laugh it off like a good friend that she was. Yooyeon doesn’t give a shit anymore. She was craving for a scent.

For an alpha to stoop this low…

“Seoyeon-ah…” Yooyeon whimpered as she covered her face with the shorter alpha’s shirt. The familiar aroma entered her nostrils. The effect was instantaneous. Her breathing somehow stabilized, it wasn’t that uncomfortable anymore. Something still hurts. Still there, but tolerable now.

Her urge to bite was also still there.

Calm down. Please, not now. Not yet.

No.

I want—

No!

Her knuckles turned white, tightening her grip.

It was evening when Seoyeon arrived. Their space was eerily silent. Usually Yooyeon would sit around or study to her heart’s content.

She silently walked into Yooyeon's room. She wasn't there.

She checked her phone. No messages.

“Shit.”

Panic took over her senses. This has never happened before.

Dragging her feet to run outside, Seoyeon halted when she passed by her room.

Canines tingled the moment it reached her.

Her body's responses to Yooyeon's pheromones are immediate. Her hands were shaking. Seoyeon lightly twisted the doorknob, half scared and half pumped.

The door widened, the fragrance greeted her tenfold. It enveloped her senses—her entire being. The sight of Yooyeon, in her room, in her bed, surrounded by her clothing, her favorite jacket was in her arms as she continued to sniff and bite.

Hair a little bit (actually too much) messy, her shirt loose, everything about her is perfect.

“What are you doing?” Seoyeon mentally cursed herself for sounding coarser than she expected.

“You’re back?” Yooyeon mumbled, ignoring the question by asking another. Then she realized.

The jacket flew to Seoyeon's face.

“Stay back! Don't come any closer!”

The shorter alpha was snickering as she slowly peeled the jacket off her, “Now you feel embarrassed after using my stuff?”

“I wasn't clear headed and you know it.”

“Don't you just love it when someone spends their rut in your den—”

Another pillow straight to her head.

“Cuddles?” Seoyeon offered, tightly hugging the pillow.

“Come over here.”

…

Ruts are perhaps the most gruesome thing ever. Some say omega heats are worse, yet Seoyeon can't say anything. She can only attest for alphas though.

Never in her life she will help other people. They're not Yooyeon. Which means they're not special enough to Seoyeon's eyes.

Helping a raging alpha in the entire duration of her rut was something else. In a sense that she was a hundred percent deeply satisfied. Well, it's not everyday she gets to see a clingy and needy Yooyeon.

Ignoring the pain, she checked herself in the mirror.

Her grin widened.

Today is a great day. What a wonderful day!

Yooyeon woke up an hour later. When she saw her girlfriend's current state, she was deeply horrified.

“Oh my god. I'm so sorry,” she covered herself with her hands.

What do you mean Seoyeon's body, all soft and fair, was adorned by marks both shallow and deep, signifying ownership!

Thank goodness the last string of sanity in her didn't bite her scent gland. It would make her feel insane and will really kill her otherwise.

“What are you apologizing for? They're evidence of a job well done,” it was obvious in her tone that she liked it a whole damn lot—enjoyed it even.

“Don't say anymore. Please,” Yooyeon begged.

For Seoyeon, teasing this adorable girlfriend of hers was the best. It felt nice to know that Yooyeon loves her to this extent.

“Alright,” Seoyeon held her hand, pulling her to stand, “Let's eat first. Replenish that burned energy, you know.” The wink was icing on the cake.

“ARGHHHHHHH!!”

…

Seoyeon finally introduced her partner to her friends. Park Sohyun was her omega orgmate and a deep reader. Kamimoto Kotone was also an orgmate, as a beta she was saying AO relationships are overrated. And lastly, Zhou Xinyu who was her alpha classmate since freshman year.

It took them a year to be honest to their friends and that's okay.

Feeling accepted, especially after knowing what kind of relationship they have, is comforting to Yooyeon.

She wouldn't have it any other way.

…

Kim Yooyeon wasn't a jealous person. In fact one would see Seoyeon act up more than the other. They would have their petty fights, go argue about things, but they make sure to resolve it by talking properly.

She really wasn't a jealous person.

So why?

She saw Seoyeon bump shoulders with an omega and suddenly the stranger was going heart eyes over her girlfriend.

This has happened many times before. So why now?

The answer was painfully obvious.

As much as Yooyeon won't like to admit, the omega man also smelled good. Better than the ones who had a crush on her.

Not to Yooyeon's standards, but to an alpha's basic standards.

That's how she grabbed Seoyeon's wrist and dragged her to a secluded area.

“Take off your jacket.”

“What?”

“I said take it off,” her scorn worsened each second. And because she cannot wait, her hands quickly attempted to peel the jacket from Seoyeon.

“Woah, slow down. Something the matter?”

Him. I hate him.

Mine. Seoyeon is mine.

Seeing Yooyeon's expression, she lightly pushed her off to create some distance. She noticed the change in the scent. Yooyeon was displeased.

She had to act quick.

Seoyeon took off her jacket as well as emitting comforting pheromones to calm her partner down.

The same moment, Yooyeon took off hers, “Wear this. I don't like someone else's stench sticking on you.”

Seoyeon was too stunned to speak, seeing the jacket exchange right before her eyes and witnessed how Yooyeon wore hers. It doesn't even suit her outfit.

“For the meantime, I'll wear yours to override the scent.”

She was speaking with an annoyed expression, yet all Seoyeon felt was butterflies.

“You're actually jealous.”

“I just don't like his pungent smell. There's a difference.”

“Why won't you admit it?” Seoyeon was grinning from ear to ear, “You're so stubborn… and so possessive.” She clicked her tongue, “That's so hot of you.”

This tore off Yooyeon's walls. The tips of her ears turned red. It's been three years since they became official, yet everything feels brand new.

“Whatever,” her cheeks were also red as she looked away.

Cuteness aggression took over Seoyeon.

“You're so cute! It's so annoying!”

…

How does anyone know they'll last forever? A claiming bite isn't a guarantee most people expect it would. Multiple reports say 30% of marked relationships have their scars removed. It was lesser than 70%, but if you think carefully, it's still scary.

They're both alphas. They can't give permanent bites, maybe that's why they maul each other like some rabid dogs that they are. Silently ignoring the elephant in the room.

No matter how many, no matter how deep their claiming bites are, it will never, ever, be like how an alpha marks an omega.

Theirs will always fade in time.

It's a painful truth they are living by.

“Have you ever thought about dating an omega instead?” the state of vulnerability let Yooyeon open her worries.

The question lingered in the air longer than they wanted. “What? No!”

“See, you also wondered. Liar.”

“Kim Yooyeon—”

“Maybe it was my fault for speaking to you. Saying I like your scent. I'm the defective one.”

Seoyeon swallowed her spit.

Oh no.

“This… Us…” Yooyeon was in tears now, “It’s wrong. This relationship is wrong.”

She cannot stop her tears from falling.

“I can't bring myself to tell my parents about you. I'm so afraid to tell other people I'm in a relationship society doesn't really approve of. My friends—” she snuffled, “—Only knew about us because they noticed. Not because I told them.”

“Are you… ashamed of me?” Seoyeon felt her voice crack.

“No, Seoyeon-ah,” Yooyeon smiled bitterly, “I'm saying I'm ashamed of myself.”

The pain, the doubt, the insecurities Kim Yooyeon harbored all these years were now laid bare. The water has accumulated so much the dam broke.

“I'm sorry. I just think you deserve someone who loves you, loud and proud. Not a coward. Not some weak, scaredy cat jerk with a defective nose.”

Yooyeon didn't even wait for Seoyeon's response. She ran away. Fear took over rationality.

Everyone can say this was the worst decision ever. Hell, even the writer agrees. But then again, mistakes and regret are also part of the mold.

It falls upon us humans to act whether we let ourselves be shaped, or we carve ourselves.

…

The Kim Family welcomed Yooyeon warmly. Her brother greeted her in his own way. Maybe he noticed the sullen look and decided to be less annoying. A sad sister is worse than an angry sister after all.

No one dared to ask what happened. They'd rather wait for their daughter to share. As the alpha in the household, Mama Kim only forced Yooyeon to come out whenever it was time to eat.

It was on her third day that she opened up. Papa Kim lent his ears first. He was warmer than her mother, hence the easiest to talk to.

“Dad, I'm dating another alpha.”

At first, the pregnant pause left Yooyeon extremely nervous. Maybe this was a bad time.

Papa Kim wordlessly took out his glasses, tears silently flowing down as he embraced his lovely daughter in his arms.

“Yooyeon-ah, you're our most beloved daughter. What you like, whoever you love, we support wholeheartedly.”

“Dad…” the daughter of the Kim Family cried hard, “I hurt her. I said things because I was drowning in insecurities.”

“Shhh…. It's okay. Let everything out, Papa is listening.”

They wailed in each other's arms, all while Yooyeon came clean with herself. Mama Kim, who was listening behind, joined the hug.

“Always remember that we accept you for who you are. Don't you ever think otherwise, okay?”

With this, everything felt lighter.

“Okay,” this time, despite the tears, she smiled, “I love you mom. I love you dad.”

“We love you too, dear.”

…

Five days after Yooyeon blew everything, she returned to their shared space.

There wasn't anything new except for being relatively clean and silent, there was nothing.

Seoyeon was nowhere to be found.

After her calls and text messages were ignored by Yooyeon, she gave up by the third day of the taller alpha’s absence.

Of course, it was understandable that she's giving up. Maybe she realized this entire thing was just bullshit wrapped in rainbow cloth or whatever.

Regardless, they are still in need of talking. Seriously, deeply, wholeheartedly.

So she waited.

Hours later, no one came.

The next day, she didn't come.

Days later, radio silence.

It's been a week. Still nothing.

Yet when Seoyeon finally arrived, she didn't know what to do. What's the most perfect way to start a conversation? A greeting?

Nothing came into her mind.

“I’m sorry.”

Expect the unexpected. Because what Seoyeon did was drag her by her ear toward Yooyeon's room.

She ignored the sounds of pain Yooyeon let out, pushing her off the bed.

“What—”

“Shut up.”

Then she hugged her. She hugged her tightly, seemingly refusing to break free. She hugged as if Yooyeon has all of her life force and is the only means to keep her alive.

She buried her face in the crook of Yooyeon's neck, pheromones immediately entering her senses.

“You're cruel, you know that?”

“...Yes. And I am deeply sorry.”

“Later. We will talk later,” Seoyeon took a deep breath, “For now let me savor your warmth because I missed you.”

“Does this mean we're not breaking up—”

“Later.”

“Right.”

…

The talk was a lot less nerve-wracking all thanks to the hug. And because Seoyeon was earnestly listening, Yooyeon was even more courageous to voice out her feelings.

“I also told my parents about us.”

“I know.”

With widened eyes, Yooyeon met Seoyeon's.

Her smile, gentle and radiant, widened even further as she spoke, “I went there myself to find you. Imagine my surprise when I learned that you came back, but they told me to stay for a day. And we shared a few things about you—similar ones, stuff they don't know about, stuff I also don't know about. We basically bonded over slandering you.”

“Must be fun looking over my baby pictures.”

“Precisely. That's why I have them saved over my phone.”

“Yoon Seoyeon.”

“Kim Yooyeon.”

Yooyeon knew this really wasn't the time to continue the banter, so she let it pass (for now).

“Still, I put you through a lot…”

“Yeah,” Seoyeon nodded in agreement, “It was some work. Thankfully she's pretty, it was all worth it.”

“I knew it, you only dated me for my pretty face.”

“When you dated me because of how I smell did I say anything?”

Bull's eye.

“You're mean,” Yooyeon said.

“You're an idiot,” Seoyeon didn't back down. But when she sat beside her, she leaned her head on her shoulder as her hand carefully held Yooyeon's, each finger slotting perfectly with the other like puzzle pieces.

“I felt really moved when you told your family about me, did you know that?”

Yooyeon shook her head.

“Don't ever tell yourself you're a coward,” she pinched the taller alpha's right cheek rather aggressively, “I refuse to let you talk shit about yourself. You're great, and you're perfect.”

Yooyeon scoffed, “You're saying that because you're dating me.”

“And what of it? I honestly think you're fine the way you are,” she can't help but also think about how she has probably pressured Yooyeon into being openly public contributed to this, “I'm sorry too. As a girlfriend who cares about you, I'll do better I promise. Don't break up with me?”

“I'll think about it—ow!” hitting her side was a bit painful, “Be thankful I love you.”

Seoyeon grinned as she said on Yooyeon's lap, her hands tightly cupping the latter's face, “I really love you too.”

With these hands on her face, she muttered, “Have I ever told you how delicious you smell?”

“No, but your reaction to my pheromones was enough to tell me the full story,” Seoyeon booped her nose, “Pervert.”

“Fair.”

Seoyeon's lips met hers. It was a kiss off resolution, a testament of love and acceptance. The bitter taste of self doubts still linger, but the silver lining was enough to promise forever.

Breaking the kiss, Seoyeon spoke once again, “You should really give yourself some credit. Telling your family about us is the most courageous thing ever. You're not a coward, you think you are, Kim Yooyeon.”

“Thank you for loving me, Yoon Seoyeon.”

“Thank you for accepting me. I was literally the one who asked you out first. Now you're stuck with me.”

Yooyeon tucked away a strand of Seoyeon's hair, her eyes looking at her lovingly, “Can't have it any other way.”

The promise of forever can be shown variously, it falls upon the people how they do it.

But for some, feelings are enough to get along with the flow of time. It is human to find a partner. It is humane to love another.

“Do you wanna get some tattoos after this?”

“I do.”
