Work Text:
Anyone who thought of Tachibana Makoto would always think of his kind nature and his caring smile and the way he would go out of his way to accommodate those around him, no matter who they were or what they needed. No one ever really though of his serious side, and few people even realized that, just like everyone else in the world, Makoto had a temper.
Sousuke knew it.
Sousuke knew it very well.
He knew first hand how bad Makoto’s temper could get. He had witnessed first-hand the way Makoto wouldn’t let anything visibly affect him and would just let everything stew under the surface where no one else would realize. And, like any good time bomb should, Sousuke had witnessed Makoto explode.
That wasn’t this was, though, he reminded himself as he tied the top of the rubbish bag securely. This wasn’t Makoto caving under the pressure of work and university and general life.
This was Makoto getting on his ass for something as stupidly small as rubbish.
“There.” Sousuke said sharply, dropping the full rubbish bag - only cleaned beer bottles in this one - onto the floor for emphasis before he straightened. “Five minutes, like I said.”
“You said you were going to clean them up last night after Rin and the others left, actually,” Makoto countered, his own tone just as sharp though he refused to turn around from where he was cleaning a head of cabbage.
“No, I said I was going to do them today because you wanted to go to sleep.”
“No, you said you were going to do them last night so that you could sleep in this morning.”
“I’d remember saying something like that.”
“You never remember anything you say when you get that drunk.”
“Oh, so now we’re bringing this shit up again.”
“You brought it up, not me.”
“I didn’t say anything about my drinking.”
“That’s nothing new.”
“Just because I drink more with Rin than I do with the others doesn’t mean there’s a problem. If there was, you’d be dealing with a tonne more empty bottles, wouldn’t you?”
“At least I know you aren’t cleaning up after yourself to try and hide anything.”
“What does it even matter? They’re cleaned up now.” Sousuke nearly snarled, but he caught himself and instead roughly grabbed the bag, stalking away from his boyfriend and towards the door of the apartment. “I’m taking them down to the rubbish room.”
(By the time Sousuke returned to the apartment empty handed, there were two large plates of a cooked, Western-style breakfast laid out on the table and his boyfriend greeted him with a kiss.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have gotten so worked up over it.”
“I’m sorry, I should’ve done them last night… like I said I would…”
“No, it’s okay. I was asleep… Anyway, it’s over now. Shall we eat? I made you your favourite.”)
