Work Text:
Their heartbeat has gotten faster as she moved towards them, like a metal detector beeping for iron.
"Kris!" The girl, Noelle, grabbed their arm. "You actually changed!" But they never really changed. The Angel gestating in them forced them to, while it was scorching their heart from inside.
Noelle then talked to them how about she has been watching herself live for years. How she wanted to change. How killing Berdly and the thorn in her empowered her. How she wanted to use them to break free from the mortal realm. (Or simple hometown, as she insisted).
"So say the words I've been waiting to hear!"
As if on impulse, their heart was set ablaze, vibrating in their chest with the "Proceed" that the thing pushed out of their mouth. Noelle dragged them to their first steps into the lake.
The next few proceeds pushed them further into the lake, submerging their waist. In a couple more, their chest and head were submerged, but despite that, the thing in them burned brighter than ever. They held Noelle's head up high, like it were a very expensive phone that could short-circuit at the slightest touch of water.

Their lungs were filled up with air, and their soul was now burning and shining like the brightest star. The glow shone to Noelle's hand, which was infected by the thorns, with her head finally sinking into the depths, as their body decided to focus on bringing about the Angel's birth instead of saving Noelle from herself, against their will.

Their vision faded, and that thing shook within their chest, causing spasms in their heart, different from the burning sensation also affecting them.

A sharp pain poked holes in their heart, sucking their body dry of whatever nutrients that hasn't been drained out by time. They wanted to scream, but the water filling their lungs denied them of that. Why did it have to happen now? Why did they let it be conceived that day? Why couldn't it wait the usual 9 months for it to be born?

The thing burst through their heart, banging at the walls of their cage, with a mixture of blood, light, darkness, and amniotic fluid surging through their whole body, before concentrating to the crack in their flesh. They wished it would stop, they wished they would have been allowed to kill it, exorcise it before it became a problem.

Alarms ran through their body as that thing pushed through their cage, begging to be born. After it fractured it, the soul brought the mixture out of the cage and had it surround it, tearing a hole into muscle and skin for it to come out.

The Angel broke through the hole of flesh, tearing it even further, with the mixture surrounding its soul drag out Kris' heart like a baby's umbilical cord pulling out the placenta from the womb. The mass of darkness and light approached Noelle's disintegrating finger, merging with the thorn, absorbing the specimen in the thorns.
Noelle screamed for Kris to keep on saying the word, even though they couldn't manage to push the water out of their mouth.

The darkness solidified around the soul, the remnants of Noelle's finger being ripped from her body, forming an incomprehensible vessel, which seemed to be the Angel's true form. The gaping hole in their chest leaked out even more blood, coloring the lake red.
There was nothing left for the cage to do than be consumed by the lake, and watch Noelle fade into dust in despair, as they were used up.
