Chapter Text
BANG! BANG! BANG!
"CLARK!" Kara slumped against the doors of the Fortress of Solitude. "OPEN UP! CLAAARRRK! C'MON!" She slapped at the door and then poked it a few times for good measure. The nerve of him to just ignore her like that! "KRYPTO! COME HERE BOY!" She moved her fingers to her mouth and attempted a whistle, but couldn't quite get her mouth to form the right shape. Moving her spit covered hand away, Kara looked up at the massive crystalline structure. With a movement far too coordinated, for someone as drunk as she was, she shoved her hands into the center of the crystal pulling the door apart.
As she stepped through the entrance, her foot caught the tail of her overcoat. Kara fell to the ground face first and slid across the ice. "I'm fine," she slurred. Kara began to slowly float off the ground. Her bleary eyes drifted over the room. "Where is everyone?" She righted herself, not by pushing herself up but through rotating in the air. It took a couple of flips but she eventually managed to right herself. Kara slowly made her way toward the console of the ship, her powers of flight helping her to maintain balance. She approached the computer and entered her password. It only took a few tries this time!
"Hi Kara!" A hologram of Superman materialize a few millimeters from her face.
"Holy fuck!" Kara fell backwards, waving her arms wildly.
Clark continued, "Krypto and the Robots are with me. I tried contacting you, but I couldn't get through. You better have not forgotten to charge your phone."
Kara had the decency to look bashful.
"All I'm saying is, it'd be great if you could stay out of trouble. We'll be gone for a couple of weeks."
"Sir, please get off the phone!" Gary yelled.
"Oops, gotta go. Kara I'm serious be saf- Gary watch out!" Superman dodges a series of limbs flying past him.
"My name is not Ga..." A robot yells in the distance as the hologram flickered away.
Huff... What now? I wonder if the fridge is stocked?
Kara floated through the halls of the "Fortress of Solitude".
Pretty sure that name came from Lois, cause Clark complains every time it comes up. Despite being so large on the outside, it's actually pretty easy to find your way around. As I neared the end of the hall the crystals slowly changed to wood. The kitchen had been modeled after the Kent's. After all, Kryptonian ships weren't exactly fitted for Earth or its food. I opened the fridge to discover it fully stocked. I check the pantry and it was also full, perhaps too much. Guess I owe him. I went about throwing a sandwich together. Ok, multiple but who was going to judge; I had drank a lot. I doubled back to the fridge to grab a drink. Clark unfortunately didn't keep anything fun stocked unless he was bring people over. Even if there was anything, my metabolism has been kicking in since I entered the solar system; I couldn't get drunk if I tried. While he had stocked up on food, I didn't see any drinks. I looked deeper into the back and finally found one. Grabbing my plate, I made my way to the front.
Kara walked back to the front room giggling to herself. She jumped onto the only chair and look a large bite from a ham and cheese sandwich. After two more bites, she reached over to a control on the side of the chair. Kara turned the projectors on, various media flickered on the holograms. She didn't really care what was on, it was mainly for the sound.
I reached over and grabbed my drink. It bubbled and fizzed; probably some new soda I haven't tried. I took a sip. It didn't taste bad, but it was certainly a unique flavor? It was slightly salty, but still sweet. Not a fruity or cola taste. I cautiously took another sip. Getting over the initial shock, it had just enough carbonation to be enjoyable.
Seeming to grow more fond of the drink, Kara happily devoured the rest of her meal. As she stood up to return the dishes, an alarm flashed on the computer screen.
You got to be kidding me. I place the plates back on the chair. Covering my ears, I make my way to the console. I slam my hand down and the alarm quiets. A broadcast of the Daily Planet grows bigger on the holographic screen. Wow, that's ummmm... I watch as giant robots battle the Justice Gang. Looks like... Toyman. Damage doesn't look too bad. I mean they've got this, right? Oops, there goes Guy. The robot moves for a second swing, slamming the green lantern into the ground. I mean... Ughh... Sigh. Fine...
Kara lept into the air breaking the sound barrier. As she neared Metropolis, she found a surprising lack of smoke. Guy Gardener was battling the robots, but the rest of the gang didn't seem to be involved.
Well there's Guy, but uhhh... where's Mr. Terrific and Hawkgirl?
I slowly floated over. "Uh, so what's going on?"
"Guy insisted he could handle it." Hawkgirl looked unimpressed.
Mr. Terrific looked up from his monitor. "We've got a bet going if he'll win."
"How much?" I asked.
"$400 he loses." He began fiddling with one of his T-Spheres.
Guy materialized a green fist and slammed it into the hull of one of the robots. The robot crashed into another as they both toppled to the ground. "And if he wins?" I looked back over at Mr. Terrific.
Mr. Terrific's face morphed into a smirk. "He won't." I turn my head just as Guy is flung through a building.
"Ummm... So you're just waiting?" I don't see anyone in danger, so I guess it's fine?
"Yep." Hawkgirl clicked her tongue.
"So, can I go or..." I was interrupted.
"You can go." Mr. Terrific began typing on his keyboard.
As I turned to leave, a sharp noise rang out from one of the robots.
"Attention Metropolis, I am the Toyman!" The robot began gesturing. "With Superman out of my way, I will finally make metropolis into my personal playground!"
What a loser.
"I have planted a bomb with a reach to the outskirts of Metropolis. You have 5 minutes to surrender." Shit, I don't hear anything. Isn't ticking bombs part of his gimmick? Shit! Shit! Shit!
"Supergirl search for the bomb; We'll handle Toyman." Hawkgirl yelled.
"I have a better idea." I yelled back. I flew over and ripped open the front panel of Toyman's robot. "Where is it?"
Toyman looked up out of hull of his mech. "Ah Supergirl! What a supri-"
I picked him up. Lighter than he looks. I take off, flying above the city. We stop, he's hanging by my grasp on his shirt. "Where's the bomb Schott."
"Let us end this silly game Supergirl. We both know Superman doesn't kill." He mocked.
"Last chance Winslow, WHERRRE IS IT!" I growled.
"Did you..." He looked confused. "Did you just growl?"
I drop him. He screams as I watch him fall. It takes a surprising amount of skill to decelerate a falling human. Humans are squishy. You can't just grab one mid-air. Where was I... Oh... I should probably grab him.
Flying down next to him, I begin slowing his decent. "I'm still waiting for an answer."
"The toy store on Shuster Drive!" He gasped, trying to regain his breath. Three minutes and 40 seconds left.
I drop him again, only this time it's a few feet off the ground. It takes me about 10 seconds to arrive. I burst through the doors of the store. "Everyone out! Superhero business!" I yell. I really need to think of something better to say. It takes me another 42 seconds to get everyone out. I begin searching using my x-ray vision. Knowing Toyman isn't a complete novice, he probably knew there was a chance someone would try to look for the bomb this way. A nice casing of lead I would bet. However, just because it hides the bomb doesn't make it invisible. It's pretty obvious when there's a blank spot in your vision. I find the bomb hidden inside a stuffed bear. I fly it up and chuck it into space with half a minute to spare. I wait for it to explode, and I'm lucky I did. The maniac had gotten his hands on a nuke! Flying back down to Earth the Justice Gang seems to have take care of Toyman's robots. I land next to Guy Gardener.
"Ohhhh! Look who decided to show up late!" Guy looked annoyed. Nothing new.
Hawkgirl smacked him on the back of the head. "She wasn't late you moron. She just cleaned up YOUR mess."
I ignore Gardner. "Speaking of mess, do you guys have this handled."
"Of course we do, unlike you, we arrived on time." Guy huffed.
I turn to Guy. "By the by, he had a nuke, he was playing with you. I don't care if you have something to prove. Don't pull shit like this again."
I shake my head and fly off. As I leave, I can hear Hawkgirl berating the Green Lantern. Guy Gardner isn't bad but his ego is gonna be the death of him. I get back to the "Fortress of Solitude" a little after noon. I originally planned a straight flight, but people needed help. You know saving guys from trees and cats from burning buildings. Wait, other way around. As I fly into the main room... was this room always this big? Anyway, I realize I still I haven't cleaned my dishes. So I pickup my dishes and bring them to the kitchen. Apparently I worked up an appetite because it smells really good in here. I finish scrubbing the last plate. Then I sniff the air. What is that smell? Fridge? No. I quickly check the cabinets. Nope. There's nothing else left out. Wait, what's that whirring noise? I look over to a machine carefully dispensing food into Krypto's dog bowl. The bowl had long overflowed; I guess Clark forgot to turn off the timer? Is this the smell? I bend down and scoop a bit onto my finger. Giving it a sniff, it smells better than it has any right to. It couldn't hurt to try, right? I mean Krypto eats it. I tentatively reach my tongue out and lick the mixture off my finger. Wow, I guess Krypto eats pretty good. My stomach grumbles and I move back towards the fridge. It's a shame that so much food is going to waste. I reach towards the fridge door, but before opening it I pause. I mean it wasn't bad. I could probably finish the bowl and it's not like anyone would know.
Kara slowly backed away from the refrigerator inching closer to the dog bowl. She crouched down and picked up the bowl. As she moved towards the table a large dollop sloshed out of the bowl. Her next step landing directly in the mush, throwing her off balance. Kara threw her arms forward trying to keep the bowl from spilling, as her foot slipped out from below her. Her body leaning forward she crashed to the ground; Her face landing directly in the bowl. Kara laid still before slowly raising her face out of the dish. She licked around her mouth and began her meal. As she chewed, her canine teeth began to lengthen to sharp points. Her tongue grew slightly allowing her to get just that bit more with each bite. The ravenous pace caused bits of food to go flying. As Kara neared the end of her meal, she slowed completely out of breath. Finished and panting on all fours, she began to collect herself.
Huff... Huff... Oh... Shoot... I need to clean this up. Jumping to my feet, I walk to the counter; Grabbing a rag, I wipe my face and move to clean the floor. It takes a few minutes of scrubbing and a mop, but the floor was finally clear of debris. I pick up Krypto's dish and toss in into the sink. I can clean it later. Right before I step through the doorway, I remember to turn off the auto settings on the food dispenser. I bend down and... Ew... I got some in my hair. I enter the hall and make my way to my bedroom. Ignoring the clothes strewn across the floor, I can clean it later, I turn and look in the mirror. Yep I can make out a couple pieces of food tangled in my hair. Woah... Man I'm thirsty, should grabbed something in the kitchen. Whatever, I'll get clean first then I can go grab something. I open the door to the bathroom and... Why is the toilet seat up? Ughh, did Krypto figure out how to get the seat open. I'll have to leave the door closed from now on. I began undressing and... there's a stain on my costume; Well, at least it's not on my coat. Tossing the dirty clothes to the ground, I step into the shower. Ahhhh... warm water.
As Kara clears the chunks of meat from her hair, she grows even thirstier. Carefully lapping her tongue, she begin to gulp down water. Her tongue lengthens with each lap until it can barely fit in her mouth. Once Kara had her fill, she stops drinking and begins to pant. Her long tongue flicking lazily below her chin. Slobber pooling in her mouth begins dripping down her tongue and onto her chest. She grabs for the shampoo and begin working it into her scalp as the panting increases with each scritch. Finally, she has to wash it out an-
Eah! Puh! Igahdsopuhnmymowf!
With one final slurp her tongue disappears back into her mouth. Finishing her shower, she quickly gets dressed throwing on a sweater.
Whew, that was nice. I grab a brush from my dresser and move over to the mirror. As I comb through my hair I notice something, near the top, the coloration appears almost brighter than usual. Lifting a strand, the piece of hair appears almost white in color. Okay, something must be going on. I storm down the hall to the main room. Jumping into the chair I hit a few buttons on the side and a giant magnifier moves into position above me. Sunbeams hit the lens bombarding me with energy. After a few moments, the magnifier moves out of the way. Taking a second to breathe, I check myself over. Hair's still colored. Well... If it was actively harmful, the sun rays would have dealt with it. Right? Whatever, I'll figure this out tomorrow. I fly back to my room crashing onto my bed. Problems for "Later Kara".
