Work Text:
Jeon Wonwoo would like it noted down for the record that he usually likes babies, thank you very much.
He’s an omega; he’s biologically wired to want his own one day, after all. Were it any other setting, on any other day, with any other baby, maybe he’d find the humor in being handed a stranger’s teething, fretting child. Maybe he’d even relax and let himself enjoy his instincts, holding the warm, wriggly bundle in his arms, pressing his cheek against a downy head of hair and inhaling a lungful of milk and honey.
But right now, today, he’s at the music company that employs him, trying desperately to facilitate a critical comeback recording for Lee Seokmin, the rookie idol he manages. There is no room for babies!
And yet. The superstar alpha-omega writer/producer/rapper duo he’s been busting his ass the last year trying to book has just arrived with their pup in tow.
The taller of the two holds her up like a coat Wonwoo is supposed to take.
“You have glasses, you look responsible,” he says.
He’s an omega with a sweet cherry almond smell and big cow eyes. The eyes are probably the only reason he gets away with things like handing his baby to a complete stranger.
“Be good, Sunhee-yah,” the man coos, kissing one fat cheek. Quick as lightning, he turns to duck into the studio.
Leaving Wonwoo with the other man, a short alpha with pale skin and bulging biceps, smelling of cedar and smoke. He gives Wonwoo an awkward and apologetic smile.
“Sorry, it’ll just be for a bit,” he says. Under his breath, he mumbles something exasperated that sounds like, “You have glasses, Cheollie, really?”
He, too, kisses Sunhee and then disappears after Seungcheol into the studio.
Then the recording light goes on, effectively locking Wonwoo out of the studio.
Correction: locking Wonwoo and Sunhee out of the studio.
Sunhee, whose fathers will, if Wonwoo upsets her in any way, ruin his career. Or kill him. They look strong and Wonwoo hasn’t done a leg day in years. He can’t run as fast as he used to. Zero stamina.
So. Here they are. One of the most important days of his career and he’s been given babysitting duty. And if he’s honest, he’s not sure glasses have anything to do with it.
Wonwoo’s holding this small being because he happens to smell like nature’s appointed caregiver.
The small being in question, Sunhee, doesn’t look like she’s a fan of this reality any more than Wonwoo, staring up at Wonwoo with big round eyes and flushed, hectic cheeks. Her lashes have remnants of tears on them. Her cries are quite pitiful and soft, which is a small blessing even though it tugs on Wonwoo’s heart.
“Shh, Sunhee-ya,” he cajoles, rocking her gently. He paces up and down the length of the corridor, thinking uncharitable thoughts about the Chois.
“Lunatics,” he says, shaking his head. “Who just hands over their baby like that, hm?” Sunhee gurgles in agreement. “And by the way, giving someone childcare duties just because they’re an omega is still discrimination even if it’s another omega doing it!” Another gurgle, this one almost outraged.
“So what if your appa is a genius writer, hm?” Wonwoo continues, dodging Sunhee’s wild reflex to grab for his glasses. “So what if your other appa had the perfect rap line for Seokmin’s song? Are we so desperate for Seokmin to work with them that I’m supposed to take this lying down? Hmm? Is that the state of affairs?”
These are rhetorical questions, of course. Which Wonwoo would think is obvious. Still—
“I hope you aren’t expecting her to answer, hyung,” comes the reply behind him. He whirls, making Sunhee give a startled cry.
Boo Seungkwan. Oh no.
Seungkwan is a solo idol known for his stunning vocals and dreamy visuals. He’s one of the industry’s most popular alphas and also its most non-traditional: all soft sweaters and glitter and teddy bear-branded merchandise rather than the expected shirtless virility. His unexpectedly cute image has made him a fan favorite. It’s also made him a shrewd businessman who helps other idols flout expectations and pave their own way. Despite being younger, he’s taken Seokmin under his wing, in fact.
Wonwoo is grateful to Seungkwan. He respects him. But it doesn’t mean he’s excited to see him.
Because the thing is — Wonwoo’s also got a very inconvenient and very embarrassing crush on him. And whenever Wonwoo has a crush, he ends up making a fool of himself.
Sunhee gurgles in his arms, like she’s anticipating the show.
“Hello, Seungkwan,” Wonwoo says awkwardly, cheeks burning.
Seungkwan grins, skin rosy and bright. He’s criminally beautiful, with big brown eyes and pouty lips and cheeks that beg to be kissed. He’s got a fine-boned delicacy, but his shoulders and hands are big enough that if Wonwoo wanted to be pinned down—
“Hi, hyung,” Seungkwan says, bowing, interrupting Wonwoo’s mortifyingly primitive musings. “And hello, Sunhee-yah.”
Wonwoo supposes he shouldn’t be surprised that Seungkwan is buddy-buddy enough with Jihoon and Seungcheol to recognize their daughter. He jiggles Sunhee gamely Seungkwan’s way.
“Hi oppa,” Wonwoo says in a high-pitched baby voice. “You’re pretty today!”
He winces. Sunhee jams her fist in her mouth, swiveling her head to look at Wonwoo like, yikes.
Seungkwan grins. “Thanks,” he says. Then he switches his attention to Sunhee. “But am I really pretty?” he pouts. “No one is prettier than Sunhee!” He flicks his reddish-brown hair out of his eyes, affecting a pose.
Wonwoo lets his eyes trace down the curve of Seungkwan’s waist and ass. He only drags his eyes up when Sunhee wacks him in the face with her chubby hands.
Seungkwan’s eyebrow is raised. Wonwoo’s face burns even hotter.
“She’s a baby,” Wonwoo says. “So I feel like we have to judge her prettiness and yours under entirely different taxonomies.”
Seungkwan raises his eyebrow even higher, then nods. “Taxonomies,” he repeats gravely. “Right.”
Okay so it’s established that Seungkwan is pretty enough to make Wonwoo stupid. But worse yet, he smells extremely good. Rich and sweet like chocolate and yuzu. Heady and comforting.
Wonwoo takes a (probably unsubtle) inhale, trying not to drool, and Seungkwan’s eyes flicker.
“Seungcheol hyung decided to make you their babysitter today, huh?” he asks. “You know if it makes you feel better, when they did a record for TWICE, they made JYP sunbaenim hold Sunhee for a whole day. And she was fresh out of the womb, then! Very impressionable. Which is why I’m sure Cheollie hyung was more discerning this time around.”
It does make Wonwoo feel better, actually.
“Right,” Wonwoo says gravely. “No spandex vanity projects for me.”
Seungkwan’s cheeks tint pink but he almost keeps a straight face when he says, “Pity.”
Ugh. The worst part is, Wonwoo can’t even blame his obsession with Seungkwan on a biological imperative. Because yes, he’s handsome and smells good, but he’s sweet and funny, too, not at all like the posturing, knot-head alphas Wonwoo usually works with. No, Seungkwan always treats Wonwoo like he’s genuinely hilarious instead of hilariously inept.
They stand like that for a moment, Seungkwan playing with Sunhee’s socked foot, Wonwoo holding her like a shield against Seungkwan’s sheer beauty, both of them biting back grins like fools. Then, Sunhee makes a noise that is unmistakeable.
Prrrrrrrffttt.
She frowns, shifting in Wonwoo’s arm. Her whimpers pick up volume, gearing up to become a real sob. Wonwoo closes his eyes. He has no diaper bag, and he can’t barge into the studio while the recording light is on. On the other hand, he can’t just let Sunhee sit in her diaper. But he doesn’t have anything to change her into. And, if he’s entirely honest, he’s pretty squeamish about this sort of thing.
He stands there for a moment, feeling — and looking, he’s sure — helpless, holding Sunhee’s rapidly warming bottom in the cradle of his arms and trying valiantly not to look grossed out.
Seungkwan takes pity. He reaches out and picks up Sunhee from his arms with a brisk, “I’ve got you, hyung.”
And before Wonwoo can even give a token protest, Seungkwan is walking down the corridor, Sunhee blinking adorably over his shoulder.
Wonwoo has no choice but to follow. It helps that the view from behind isn’t so bad.

Turns out there’s a parent’s room at the company that stocks supplies for those bringing their pups into the office.
This is Item #235 on the list of Things Wonwoo Probably Would’ve Never Known if Not for Boo Seungkwan.
Numbers 1 and 2 on that list include “how to avoid getting locked out of a room you need to be in just because the biometric scanning stopped working” (make friends with a janitor DON’T punch the control panel) and “which cafeteria stall will for sure not give you food poisoning even if you’re prone to gastritis” (make friends with the cafeteria manager DON’T eat the seafood).
The memories of how he acquired this knowledge still make Wonwoo cringe, but he’ll live with the humiliation because they prove what is being proved even now: Seungkwan is the Snow White of Pledis.
He socializes with creatures big and small, high up the social and business ladder or not. The radiance of his grin and the disarming way he makes self-effacing jokes turns everyone into his best friends, and somehow, even the most dire situations feel like they’re handled without effort. It’s Seungkwan’s magic, to take care of others so easily.
Which is why Wonwoo should not be glaring at the poor intern who is staffing the parent’s room right now, just because he’s staring at Seungkwan like a fool. Hell, half the time, Wonwoo is staring at Seungkwan like a fool. He gets it. Seungkwan is amazing.
But the omega inside him still bristles, unwilling to share.
He is perhaps not as subtle as he should be when he edges himself in front of the intern, blocking Seungkwan from starry-eyed view. The intern makes a disgruntled noise and Wonwoo doesn’t growl, exactly, but he—
Maybe he kind of yips. Just slightly.
When the intern has finally gotten the hint and moved over to help a young beta-alpha couple from A&R, Wonwoo looks back at Seungkwan. He’s cleaned and dressed Sunhee in record time and is now holding her, the lower half of his face hidden by Sunhee’s curls.
There may be a smile on his mouth, if the twinkle in his eyes and the hill of his cheeks is any indication.
“Come sit down, hyung,” is all he says, though, gentle but firm. Wonwoo feels it both like a weight lifted off his shoulders and an order. He rubs the back of his neck and shuffles over.
“Thank you, Seungkwan,” he says, and holds his arms out for Sunhee. After all, borderline offensive or not, it was because he’s an omega that Sunhee’s appa decided he should pull childcare duties. Wonwoo knows alphas are famously reticent about being too close to pups that aren’t their own, biologies going a bit haywire.
But Seungkwan shakes his head. “No, let me,” he insists. “Sunhee is lovely.” His arms tighten around her and she gives a laugh, happy and bubbly. “And I heard you, uh. Venting. Before. About how Cheollie hyung stuck you with childcare duties.”
Wonwoo flushes. There’s something very intimate about Seungkwan overhearing Wonwoo’s frustrations about his secondary gender, which he’s tried hard to keep out of the company and away from work. It’s made even worse by the fact that Seungkwan is an alpha. Wonwoo would hate for him to feel obligated to comfort him just because—
“You’re an omega, so what? That’s not a reason to assume you’d be okay taking care of a random baby!” Seungkwan covers Sunhee’s ears for a moment. “Sorry, aegi.” Then, to Wonwoo: “It’s psychotic to hand your child to a complete stranger, first of all.”
Wonwoo’s chest warms. “Right?” he says. And then, because he doesn’t want the intern tattling later, he says, “Well, psychotic might be a bit much but. Definitely not advisable.”
Seungkwan shakes his head, animated now. “And to just hand her off to you like you don’t have your own schedule! Rude. I think they had blackmail material on JYP sunbaenim so he allowed it back then, but it’s really not cool.”
Wonwoo stifles a laugh. “Blackmail material, huh?”
Seungkwan nods solemnly. “And you know for him to be ashamed, it’s really bad.”
Wonwoo considers that thought for a moment before deciding he doesn’t want to explore the possibilities any further. Instead, he allows himself to lean closer to Seungkwan, enjoying both his impassioned defense and his body heat. The smell of cocoa and citrus. The way his voice goes one octave lower and softer when he talks to Sunhee.
“Well, too bad we don’t have anything to blackmail them with,” Wonwoo laments. “I really should be in the studio with Seokmin. I don’t want him to get railroaded into trying an ill-advised rap about a hat.”
Seungkwan’s eyes twinkle. “Ah, you’ve worked with Soonyoung hyung, I see.”
They both snicker, sharing laughter, and it feels—good. Light. All the pressure that was weighing on Wonwoo earlier today is gone, replaced by a pleasant sort of buzz.
This is what it might be like, to be Seungkwan’s omega. Something floods Wonwoo’s bloodstream, an embarrassing pull of want. His scent, a lavender sage that goes heavy on the herbs when he’s feeling a strong emotion, turns mossy and green.
Seungkwan’s jaw twitches and he lets go of Sunhee’s ears, casually bouncing her on his knee. She shrieks with joy and sticks her fingers up his nose.
He still manages to look perfect. It’s sick.
Seungkwan nudges Wonwoo with his knee. “I mean it,” he says quietly. “I’ve seen you with Seokmin. You’re so good at your job. It was unfair of them to put you in this position.” He clears his throat, pressing his cheek to Sunhee’s head in a gesture of affection that does not have Wonwoo’s stomach in knots. Nope. “But I also know you want to make a good impression. So I’d like to help today, if you let me. There’s nothing on my schedule that I can’t move.” He coughs, looking away. “If you were okay with me hanging around, of course.”
Wonwoo doesn’t know how to say of course I’m okay with you hanging around, you beautiful idiot, without seeming crazy, so he just gives a jerky nod.
“That would be nice, Seungkwan-ah,” he says. The endearment slips out of its own volition, and his eyes widen. Seungkwan’s eyes widen too, but he gives a smile so sweetly shy that Wonwoo doesn’t even try to apologize.
“Great! Let’s go remind those genius hyungs they have a kid,” Seungkwan chirps, and together with a gurgling Sunhee, they do.
|
To be fair to Jihoon and Seungcheol, they are geniuses.
Seokmin is glowing when they finally let Wonwoo and Seungkwan, accompanied by Sunhee, into the studio. He greets Seungkwan with a hug and Wonwoo with stories about the different ways Jihoon and Seungcheol have improved the song that’s sure to be the title track of the comeback. He’s so happy he doesn’t even question where Wonwoo was, or why Seungkwan is there, too, with a baby in tow, no less. His smile and creative energy is infectious.
It’s the only reason Wonwoo lets the Chois get away with the impromptu baby transfer this morning.
Well, that and the fact that Seungkwan looks so damn adorable holding said baby and Wonwoo is lowkey kind of pleased he gets to experience it at all, circumstances be damned.
For their part, Seungcheol and Jihoon don’t look surprised at all to see the addition of Seungkwan, nor to see Sunhee in his arms. They just give him hearty slaps on the back and drop kisses on Sunhee’s head and go back to work.
“Hyungs give new meaning to ‘it takes a village,’” Seungkwan explains wryly, waving Sunhee’s chubby arm around. “I don’t think they’ve met a single person they haven’t tried to make into a permanent babysitter.”
“Jay Park,” Jihoon says over his shoulder at the same time as Seungcheol’s, “Minho from SHINee.”
Seungkwan rolls his eyes. “Minho sunbaenim takes Sunhee on one 10k run and they decide he’s blacklisted forever…”
Wonwoo personally understands the blacklisting, but turns out Seungkwan is kind of a jock. In fact, in between supervising the track evolutions and taking care of Seokmin’s requests, Wonwoo sits with Seungkwan and Sunhee and learns all kinds of things about the man who’s always been a little untouchable till now. Distant like a star.
Today, he’s close, burning like the sun.
“The Wonder Girls are the best group to ever do it,” Seungkwan insists, in between blowing raspberries on Sunhee’s tummy and posing her like she’s dancing.
“Dogs are the best, but I think I’m a cat, even though the fans call me a lesserpanda,” Seungkwan declares, holding up Seokmin’s puppy-character plushy for Sunhee, which she promptly shoves in her mouth to gnaw on.
“I am very flexible, even though I have a shortened Achilles tendon,” Seungkwan explains, doing a complicated yoga pose that highlights the dip of his waist and a sliver of skin revealed by his shirt riding up. Sunhee is on the floor in Wonwoo’s lap this time, and they both stare boggle-eyed at Seungkwan for a moment.
Most of all, Wonwoo learns the soul-destroying truth that no one is more meant to be around babies than Seungkwan. Everytime Sunhee fusses, everytime Sunhee looks bored, Wonwoo feels something in his heart start to react, some bone-deep, primal reaction to a pup’s needs. But Seungkwan is always there first, soothing Sunhee, making her laugh, holding her close, dancing with her as Seokmin sings. It’s honestly textbook omega bait.
Well. Wonwoo is an omega. Sue him! He’s being baited.
When recording is in its third hour and Seokmin’s voice has started to flag, it’s Wonwoo’s time to shine, though. One of the reasons Wonwoo likes being a manager is it allows him to marry his logical, organized habits with his innate desire to nurture. He digs lozenges out of his bag and gets the honey sticks ready. Seokmin, a beta who is particularly sensitive to pheromones, comes sidling up to Wonwoo, whining for a platonic scenting.
He’s in the middle of patting Seokmin’s head gently, emitting soothing pheromones, when he hears Seungkwan mutter something that sounds like “I’m single, you know.”
“Hmm?” Wonwoo asks, distracted. He’s going heavier on the lavender, he realizes, a scent that is sweet and cozy. An ex-boyfriend once called it alpha-nip, but there’s no way—
“I’m single,” Seungkwan says again, loudly. “Like really single. Just so you know.”
His nose is twitching. Wonwoo gives a confused smile, unsure when anyone asked, but grateful for the information all the same.
“Um, so am I,” he says.
Jihoon snorts. “I’m not surprised,” he says. Elaborating in the face of silence: “About either of you being really, really single, I mean.”
It feels kind of insulting, but before he can respond, Jihoon is motioning to Seokmin that it’s time to get back into the recording booth. With a happy whuff, Seokmin bumps his head against Wonwoo’s chin, and then goes back to work.
Leaving Wonwoo with Seungkwan, who is staring at him with a thin ring of amber around dark, fat pupils.
Wonwoo feels a warm shiver run under his skin, the prickle of awareness that comes from an alpha’s regard. He takes a seat next to Seungkwan, and when his hand brushes the elegant slope of Seungkwan’s bare forearms, he can almost taste the rich, dark undercurrent of chocolate, a bite of lemon or orange on his tongue.
“It smells good,” Seungkwan says. “The—the lavender. Whatever you were doing to calm Seokmin down. You smell—very good.”
Shameless, really. One would expect decorum, but Seungkwan says this boldly, with a hectic flush crawling up his neck and something almost coy in his expression. Sunhee wacks him in the face with her little fists like a reprimand. Seungkwan simply kisses the round, dumpling-like hands and continues to leer.
“You do, too,” Wonwoo says, because he’s nothing if not shameless as well, and also when it comes to Boo Seungkwan, he’d rather shoot his shot than risk losing his chance just for the sake of politeness.
Sunhee gives a little cheer and pumps her fists, on a baby rampage. Wonwoo can’t help but grin at the one-baby wrecking crew she’s become, leaning over to tickle her squishy belly. She giggles, cheeks pink and nose scrunching up.
“Cutie,” he croons, letting just a bit of his instincts loosen now that most everyone is occupied with recording and he has nothing to do. He reaches out to Sunhee and she holds her arms out too. Seungkwan makes a little sound like he’s overcome.
“You want Wonwoo samchon?” Seungkwan asks.
Wonwoo pouts. “Wonwoo oppa,” he corrects, because by God, he’s not yet thirty!
Seungkwan gives a sly look and hands Sunhee over. “Wonwoo oppa,” he says, emphasis on each word. His voice, that beautiful voice, is low and almost sultry and it’s doing things to Wonwoo. Terrible things.
He’s definitely a closet pervert masquerading as a harmless boy next door. Wonwoo can just tell. A voice in the back of his head reminds him it’s because Wonwoo is a pervert, too. A match made in Heaven.
“You’re good with Sunhee,” Wonwoo says, instead of something insane like marry me. He gathers Sunhee close and inhales the creamy sweet scent of pup.
Seungkwan fiddles with his cuticles, an endearing tic that Wonwoo recognizes as nerves. “I know alphas can be careful around kids if they’re not their own, but I love them,” he says honestly. “I used to take care of all my cousins when they were small. I…I would love a family one day, but being an idol is so busy, so.” He spreads his hands, helpless. “I take whatever I can get now.”
Wonwoo frowns. That’s the saddest thing he’s ever heard, from the most magical person he’s ever met. It seems wrong, Seungkwan settling. The universe not giving Seungkwan a little brood of his own to look after and protect. Sunhee seems to agree, because she makes a disgruntled noise, reaching her hands back out to Seungkwan.
“Oh,” Seungkwan says softly, pleased. He takes Sunhee back from Wonwoo. “Sorry hyung, looks like she’s got a favorite.”
He’s joking, but Wonwoo isn’t when he says: “She’s got excellent taste.”
Seungkwan colors. “What about you?” he asks. “Do you…want a family?”
Wonwoo looks at Seungkwan, the way his whole face transforms when he smiles down at Sunhee, the gentleness in his large hands. He imagines a future where there’s a little girl with his terrible eyesight and Seungkwan’s soft cheeks, tucked in the circle of his and Seungkwan’s arms. For a second, his fun if embarrassing crush turns into something more, something deeper and a bit scarier, something that strikes an arrow right through the center of Wonwoo’s chest and turns into the kind of longing he’s not sure he can afford at this point in his life.
“I…want some air,” he says, suddenly and abruptly. “I’ll be right back.”
Seungkwan’s face flashes with surprise, before smoothing out into neutrality.
“Okay,” he says, bouncing Sunhee on his knee. “We’ll be here.”
Wonwoo flees, already trying to outrun the way Seungkwan’s voice sounds like a promise that will follow him outside this room.
|
Wonwoo’s outside in the nearest stairwell for approximately 15 minutes of pacing and unhelpful texting with his roommate Mingyu (⊙_⊙) hyung… bsk? flirting w U? No way….hey ask him if he can hook me up w jungkook from bts ㅋㅋㅋ ) before Seungkwan bursts out the doors with Sunhee on his hip. She is wearing a cowboy hat lopsidedly on her head, matching the bandanna inexplicably tied around Seungkwan’s neck. The absurd details, rather than dumbfounding him, makes Wonwoo’s heart clench with fondness.
“Hyung,” Seungkwan says, almost breathless. “I know it’s coming on a little strong, but I couldn’t just let it go. Like, we are literally taking care of a baby together. That’s the stuff dramas are made of. Little me would be so mad if I didn’t take the chance to at least ask–” He cuts himself off, looks down, then looks back up, determined. “I find you attractive. I have ever since I met you. And I think– I think you find me attractive, too.”
He sways in place, Sunhee’s happy gurgles the only sound. “Do you?” he finally asks.
Wonwoo has been speedrunning his fantasies of being a Boosadan Housewife, complete with an apron that has teddy bears on it, all day. Probably all year. It’s likely regressive, but he’s always been a sucker for cute, soft, kind people, and Seungkwan is that in spades. The fact that he’s an alpha, his smell intoxicating, his hands large enough to cup Wonwoo’s face and massage the knots out of his shoulders and lower back during heats, well. That’s just a plus.
And so, Wonwoo answer with full honesty instead of playing it cool or running away again:
“I really, really do,” he says.
Seungkwan’s smile is like the sun cresting a hill. “Ah,” he says eloquently, hiking Sunhee up and staring at her instead of meeting Wonwoo’s gaze, a wild kind of happiness on his face. Sunhee’s going a bit cross-eyed staring so closely. Wonwoo chuckles and leans over, gently prying Sunhee from Seungkwan’s grasp.
He holds her warm, heavy body in his arms and again imagines a pup of his own, big Boo Seungkwan eyes with the Jeon 20/50 eyesight.
“Want to go on a date, Seungkwan-ah?” Wonwoo asks, bold and brave, and he tilts his head, playful smile growing. “Want to make me the target of a million Boosadans all over Korea, and personal enemy #1 to alwaysBoofan-nim?”
The fansite master will live, Wonwoo thinks, as Seungkwan tugs Wonwoo’s collar in lieu of an answer. He brings Wonwoo close, and with the characteristic boldness of an idol, the agonizing cuteness of his on-stage persona, the deep allure that is all just him: Seungkwan kisses Wonwoo.
It’s a relatively tame kiss, all things considered. Sunhee is between them, cooing her baby coos, grabbing the hems of both their shirts. Wonwoo is holding the baby and he’s taller, a bit awkward. His glasses get in the way.
But Seungkwan’s mouth is warm, and sweet, and the chocolate and yuzu intensifies, settles into Wonwoo’s bones. Makes him think of fluffy blankets and sweatshirts and linens doused in the scent. A nest, a Sunday morning with sunlight streaming in, Seungkwan’s electric eyes and sharp humor, his hands in Wonwoo’s hair, a complete circuit.
They part, and Wonwoo blinks like an owl. “Wow,” he says.
“Wow,” Seungkwan echoes.
“Waw!” Sunhee babbles, pulling them both together again with her supernatural baby strength.
Wonwoo laughs, and so does Seungkwan, and they come together for one more, shy, exploratory kiss, right there in the middle of a secluded Pledis stairwell.
And then the door pops open and Jihoon’s saying, “Hello, can you both please return my baby, please?”
Which is rich, considering his husband is the one who dropped her into Wonwoo’s arms like a sack of potatoes earlier this morning, but Wonwoo very maturely chooses not to say so.
They make their way back to the studio hand-in-hand, fingers intertwined. There’s probably a bunch of company forms they’ll have to sign. But Wonwoo doesn’t even care; he survived getting locked out of a recording studio and having gastritis in front of the Boo Seungkwan and now they’re going on a date.
When they walk into the studio, Wonwooo places Sunhee in Jihoon's arms. She peeks over her shoulder at them, looking all of a sudden very drowsy, and gives a beleaguered sigh.
Seungcheol squints up at Sunhee, then at Wonwoo and Seungkwan. “So, are you guys together now or what?” he asks bluntly.
Seungkwan shuffles his feet, looking nervous.
“What do you mean?” Wonwoo asks slowly.
Seungcheol smirks. “Seungkwan-ah has been texting us for months about how in loveeee he was with this nerdy new manager at the company. We listened to Seokmin’s demo and liked it so much we decided we’d come kill two birds with one stone: help a promising young idol with his song and help another, less promising young idol with his love life–”
“Yah!” Seungkwan interjects.
“ – and we knew our baby was the best way. Because Seungkwan has baby fever.”
Everyone in the room nods solemnly, even Sunhee. Wonwoo feels crazy.
"The baby was a setup?" he asks, scandalized.
"A very successful one," Seungcheol grins, tugging on Sunhee’s foot. “Good thing Seungkwannie had nothing better to do than stalk you today!”
Sunhee reaches up and grabs a strand of Jihoon’s hair like a reprimand. He winces. Wonwoo cheers her on internally but goes to rescue Jihoon.
He carefully extracts the hair from her grip and lets her wrap her tiny fingers around his thumb instead. She gums it happily, still watching him with big, strangely knowing eyes.
"I think Sunhee is an old soul, hyung," Seungkwan whispers, propping his chin on Wonwoo's shoulder. "What a wing-woman."
"She's a baby," Wonwoo says, but he's smiling.
"She's a very smart baby," Seungkwan says, squeezing Wonwoo’s waist. Sunhee shrieks, pointing at Wonwoo then Seungkwan in turn.
And really, Wonwoo can't argue with that.
