Work Text:

“On your fucking knees!” Shadow snarled, one hand each on Sonic head and shoulder shoving him down with enough force to crack concrete.

“Fucking make me, asshole!” Sonic retorted, a manic gleam in his eye. His claves flexed and he met Shadow with equal force.

They were joined in a struggle of strength until one faltered. This was what Sonic wanted, what he’d traversed half the planet to get.

A fight he might not win.

A fight Shadow better not fucking let him win.

A fight Shadow wasn’t gonna play by the rules for, Sonic eagerly, desperately hoped.

Sonic’s bratty insolence lit that alluring dark fire in Shadow’s eyes and the black hedgehog clocked the blue across the jaw hard enough to send Sonic flying. Agony at its most beautiful.

Sonic righted in the air before he smashed headfirst into the half-destroyed wall of the defunct Eggbase he’d found Shadow combing through. Just as his feet made contact and his knees began to absorb the force of Shadow’s blow, a bright green flash heralded the arrival of a clawed hand. White leather gloves, speared through at the fingertips by razor sharp claws, gripped the side of Sonic’s face, drawing blood and driving it into and through the wall where it belonged.

Non-color overtook much of his vision, disorienting Sonic something fierce. His body reacted on instinct, taking over seamlessly when his conscious thoughts dissolved into sparks of pain and adrenaline fueled shivers of excitement. His legs snapped around, twisting his torso, and by some breakdancing magic, forced his feet under him once more.

Miraculously erect, the maneuver just set him up for Shadow to grab his head once again with both hands this time and shove it violently down onto a rapidly ascending black knee. A galaxy of stars rushing through Sonic’s optic nerves.

Fucking ecstasy.

Sonic was rendered dumb. His head was a solid balloon, so paralyzed with sensation that no neurons could possibly fire. He wasn’t even vaguely aware of his jaw being forced open and intruded by a wriggling alien phallus. Between the blood pouring from his nose and the copious amounts of saliva that had gathered in anticipation of exactly this, Shadow had no trouble getting so fucking deep into Sonic’s throat that suffocation joined the list of very real, very mortal dangers the blue hero was currently experiencing.

The thing writhed and wormed in his mouth, pulsating in a very unearthly manner as Shadow slammed Sonic’s muzzle against the white patch of fur at the peak of his pelvis. Seated as far in as it would go (this wasn’t true – Sonic knew Shadow had an ‘even more tentacles’ mode, but the hybrid knew how to maintain proper pacing, thank Chaos), it began to undulate, growing thicker and thinner to stretch Sonic out.

Under normal(?) circumstances, this was Shadow’s alien DNA preparing to fuck Sonic full of fertilized eggs. They’d attached to Sonic’s soft tissue and, given enough time, hatch and eat him from the inside out on their way to freedom. Exciting, to be sure, but not ideal.

After the first time Shadow laid a clutch in Sonic, both hedgehogs talked about it calmly and rationally and decided that that wasn’t gonna happen again. Sonic had only shrieked what the fuck, Shadow? What the fucking fuck!? a few dozen times, perfectly calm and rational like. Thus far, Shadow had kept his word, but the idea that he wouldn’t one of these days made Sonic hard on a subatomic level.

Sonic’s chaos energy roiled insides him, as if saying you dumbass as it knitted him back together with the resigned determination of a mother of five. Why do you have to make things difficult all the time? Why can’t you behave for five fucking minutes! Sonic really needed to breathe soon.

He bit down on Shadow’s dick as hard as he could.

A couple of things happened at roughly the same time or in quick sequence. First, Shadow hissed and tried to pull back, both involuntary actions, Sonic was sure. At about the same time, the thing in Sonic’s mouth released a small amount of fluid that tasted strangely similar to gasoline. Then Shadow slammed his fist into Sonic’s jaw repeatedly, at speed, until the blue blur released him, which he did after about 30 or 40 such blows.

“You are going to regret that.” Shadow said with deadly finality as Sonic slumped to the ground like an overstretched, discarded condom. Whatever damage Sonic’s teeth had done was quickly fading from the alien yard stick Shadow called a prick. The serpentine thing retreated to its lair inside the hybrid’s pouch, clearly promising devastating future revenge for this insult.

Sonic would have smiled if he could. Jokes on Shadow, he had gotten exactly what he wanted.

The helpless of the paralysis that Sonic had felt in the Black Comet had been a transcendental experience for the blue hero. Watching Shadow run off to face his evil dictator dad alone while the strangely cute, spiky eyeball things crept closer, Sonic had felt, maybe for the first time, like he wasn’t the titular character in a video game. He might die and that might, narratively speaking, be fine.

The relief had been intoxicating. For once everyone’s fate didn’t lay on him. He didn’t need to come up with some crazy, power of friendship boost at the last second. Thank Gaia.

Shadow won, obviously, and the world went back to the way it had been. Sonic threw himself at danger and felt unkillable as he bounced from one world ending event to the next. Gods, evil geniuses, world war, a plague…he was untouchable.

But he couldn't forget that feeling.

And he couldn’t help wanting more.

Sure, there was probably some Black Arms bullshit reason why Shadow’s snake dick gave off paralyzing excretions when it got pinched, but Sonic did not fucking care about the lore. When he got like this, he became a pure-cut vibes-based entity. There was powerlessness on demand and that made a pain slut like Sonic’s hole pucker in anticipation.

Grumbling bitterly (and probably like 80% for show), Shadow flipped his newly rendered Sonic-shaped cocksleeve over onto its belly. Sonic rag dolled, all muscle control offline, but plenty of nerve endings were firing like crazy. His jaw cracked on the concrete floor, his knees skinned as Shadow’s weight fell over him, and his hole didn’t even have a chance to relax as probably five feet of throbbing cock shot from cover and bullied its way inside.

Razor-sharp claws dug into the flesh of Sonic’s side and hip as the hybrid anchored himself. He began to move with the speed and ferocity only a chaos-imbued creature could, all the while snarling out little degrading snippets, each bearing an undercoating of alien clicks.

“Some hero you are, craving getting sodomized like a worthless piece of shit!”

It was times like these where a wiser hedgehog might reflect on his choices that had brought him to this juncture.

“I’m going to fuck you so deep my cum will be coming out of your ears!”

Sonic was not a wiser hedgehog, so he just enjoyed the ride.

“You’re far too stupid to learn your lesson, the only place you belong is impaled on my cock!”

Shadow was a poet.

Sonic took the abuse as only an empty potatoes sack could. Frantically his chaos energy, acting as the only adult in the room, worked to keep him alive. There was no way the ancient Echinda had this in mind when they frescoed Sonic onto their walls.

Sonic the Hedgehog, divinely chosen to protect the world. This guy, right here…

It was a lot of responsibility. Really, too much for anyone. Yeah, he was good (the best) and all, but he wasn’t perfect. His worst imperfection was forgetting he wasn’t perfect on occasion. So, really, this sort of shenanigans was necessary. A reality check of sorts. Jokes on you reality, Sonic was into this shit.

Anyways, Shadow was so far into Sonic that he’d passed the lower intestine and was making good time through the upper when the Black Arms timeout juice hit its half-life. Muscle control returning, to some extent, Sonic gasped and his (bad!) body bucked.

Shadow, too lost trying to come up with nastier things to say, wasn’t really paying attention and lost his grip (taking a nice tuft of blue and peach fur as a consolation prize). Sonic clenched his innards in the way only a prey animal could and rolled with enough force to dislodge the black and red intruder. Break time was over and Shadow was going to need to fight for his release.

The hybrid startled, his quills puffing and his monstrous length wrapping a full loop around his hips as he rolled, but was back on his feet fast enough to catch Sonic’s rapidly oncoming fist. Shadow snarled and Sonic grinned at him, a maniacal twinkle in his eyes. “Why are you like this?” Shadow asked as his eyes glowed.

Sonic feigned to pull back and then rushed forward as Shadow’s weight shifted, cracking their foreheads together so hard it splinted the cement underneath them. “Fuck!” Shadow hissed, a spray of blood misting from his lips, and he stumbled back, hand on his head.

“Just a guy who loves adventure!” Sonic quipped. Damn, his head hurt, but he launched forward at the speed of sound anyway. Where he expected to find flesh, he encountered a cloud of quickly dissipating chao energy as Shadow teleported away. Welp, should have seen that coming. Sonic blamed his poor performance on his brain hemorrhaging.

The steel-toed roundhouse to the back of his skull came swiftly and predictably. Sonic recovered surprisingly fast for someone with his degree of head trauma. Not fast enough given his opponent was Shadow, but still fast.

Shadow wretched Sonic’s arm behind his back, threatening to dislocate it, and slammed him face first into the ground. Blood filled his mouth, muting the snarl he meant to emit. Shadow’s knee pushed painfully into the base of Sonic’s spine, right above the junction of his hip and tail. With his free hand, Shadow grabbed Sonic’s tail and pulled hard.

Sonic cried out and arched his back, pushing into the painful pressure of Shadow’s knee. If he wasn’t careful, he was going to permanently lose use of his legs. “Yield!” Shadow hissed, a slew of threatening clicks underlining the command.

Was Sonic beat?

Well, he was still breathing so the answer was no.

He was the kind of idiot who never gave up, never surrendered, and certainly didn’t verbally acknowledge any sort of defeat. Shadow knew that, so the demand was really an embarrassing waste of breath on his part. The guy should really know better.

And, well, Sonic hadn’t cum yet…so really there wasn’t any way forward except through.

Sonic bucked up, accepting the searing hot pain of his crushed lower lumbar and dislocated shoulder like a champ. Shadow, again not paying enough attention, got a face full of blue quills. He screeched in a distinctly unhedgehog like manner, but did not release Sonic.

Still, the slight space Shadow shied away gave Sonic enough room to twist and curl. His ligaments weren’t liquid, but he treated them like they were, mousing his way free like a jellyfish. The pain was immaculate and thrilling. Every nerve and fiber of Sonic’s being was alight in a struggle against anathema.

Sonic thought he was a god, thought he was immortal, and Shadow was going to show him the grave error of his ways. Cosplaying Death was probably a sin in some religion’s books, but Shadow did not give a fuck. He was preaching the gospel of fuck around and find out on the daily.

The blue hedgehog curled into a ball and revved into a spin dash. Shadow dodged and followed suit himself. Blue and black smashed together, sending off sparks and waves of loose chaos energy. Their collision caused an explosion that sent them both careening away. Shadow ricocheted off a steel girder and Sonic found himself leaving the ruins altogether and zipping through the surrounding forest.

He uncurled and started sprinting because Shadow was hot on his heels, the telltale hiss of his airshoes growing louder and louder every millisecond. Fuck, Sonic was so terrified and turned on at the same time. The blue menace was making the hybrid work for his cookie and every second apart made the ass whooping Shadow was bringing larger.

They cut across wild territory, a glowing streak of blue and black. After a few hundred miles, Sonic started to lag. The fatigue and physical trauma might have been a bit much and Shadow was relentless. Still, Sonic was the fastest thing alive (trademark) and wasn’t-

Shit, that’s a cliff.

Shit, that’s the coast!

This time it was Sonic’s turn to not pay attention. He shot right off a high promontory going about Mach 3 and hit the water at a bad angle. Normally, he could totally run on water, but the set up was a bit tricky. Needless to say, he plunged right through, surface tension smashing the air from his lungs, and shot down until he ploughed into the seabed probably twenty or thirty feet down. He learned that coral wasn’t the best thing to have spearing his chest.

He wasn’t exactly conscious after that so the following bit was a touch blurry on the details, but next thing he knew, his nose stung while someone pinched it and probably the same someone was failing at Frenching him because there was a lot of blowing into Sonic’s mouth going on. None of that was probably important.

Sonic coughed up a gout of blood and seawater and Shadow pulled away from him. “You have got to be the dumbest person I know.” The hybrid growled. “Foolhardy and blind doesn’t even begin to cover it.” He was sounding pissed for real.

“Y-ou…” Sonic coughed violently. Some of his ribs were, like, fifty percent broken, probably. “Love it…”

“Hardly.” Shadow grimaced as he stood. The noonday sun shone on his damp coat as he loomed above Sonic making the speedster shiver. From cold. He was wet, so he was cold. Duh. “Speak.” Shadow commanded.

Sonic knew what Shadow wanted. Some explanation of what the hell got Sonic all bent out of shape to begin with to kick off this little violent roll in the hay. There was always some sort of trigger for this kind of bullshit. If Sonic was smart or listened to Amy even a little, he could probably draw some conclusions and maybe avoid getting all like this.

But sense was for other people. He was Sonic the Hedgehog and he hadn’t been tamed enough yet today. “No!” Sonic spat, his (relatively) dull fangs grit.

Shadow’s eyes flashed dangerously. “Very well.”

The steel sole of one of Shadow’s air shoes stomped down on Sonic’s throat, causing a gout of blood to fountain from his mouth, but trapping plenty loose fluids in his lungs. Sonic’s fingers grasped weakly at the foot holding him down, but he didn’t have the leverage or the strength to dislodge Shadow. Spots peppered his vision as he stared helplessly up into the cold, red eyes of his lover(?).

“I am going to watch the light fade from your pathetic eyes, fuck your dumb, cunt mouth full of my eggs, and then throw your mutilated corpse into the most irradiated of Robotnik’s cesspits.” Shit, Sonic was going to cum. “Then I am going to hunt down every single last one of those technicolored mongrels you call friends and tell them what I did to you, before I snuff them in kind.”

Shadow pressed his foot down harder and some warning light in the back of Sonic’s addled mind began to blink a worrisome red above the label oh shit, this might be serious.

The Vanguard smiled, wide and toothy, his elongating alien fangs coming loose. “Next, with the legion I bred in your remains, I will raze every city on this accursed planet to the ground, exterminate the entirety of the human race, and enslave each and every last remaining member of your foolish, wretched race as food, labor, or incubators.” Shadow laughed. Shadow. Laughed.

Serious. This was serious.

He was going to do it. He was gonna do it this time. Sonic had finally pushed Shadow too far and now he was going to actually, literally kill Sonic before actually, literally taking over the world.

And there was nothing Sonic could do about it.

Not a single thing.

He was powerless.

Defeated.

He’d failed.

He’d failed all his friends.

He’d failed the world he’d loved so much.

He’d failed Shadow.

He’d failed himself.

Sonic couldn’t breathe, could hardly think. But, apparently, he didn’t need either to nut aggressively hard.

It hurt so bad.

Like, Gaia, so, so, so, so bad.

Sonic transcended his mortal coil for a brief moment and looked upon the face of eternity. His body ceased to be, replaced every cell and nerve with pure, unadulterated ecstasy. Nirvana shook him like a dirty rug and smacked him against the rocks of pure pleasure. Death looked him in the eye and told him he wasn’t worth the trouble before flicking him on the nose and advising he take up some other kinks.

Sticky, white globules splattered Shadow’s shoe and the victorious hybrid’s eyes narrowed. “You disgust me.” He hissed. The deadly weight lifted from Sonic’s throat and his gasped, searing stabs of pain shooting through him like his veins had been replaced by red hot needles. “Time to put you out of my misery.” Shadow raised his boot once more, preparing to cave Sonic’s head just all the way in.

Sonic was tired and he felt as heroic as a wet paper bag, but damn was he satisfied. Thank Chaos…”I’m good.” He croaked.

Shadow froze and pulled back. “You’re good?” He confirmed, gorgeous, dangerous eyes narrowing. It was good to check. Sonic had pulled a gotcha! once or twice. Yes, yes, he was very aware of how much of an asshole he was, because Shadow had told him once or twice via supersonic fist.

Today though, Sonic was, in fact, good. (As safe words go, it was a terrible choice, but on the spectrum of Sonic’s terrible choices, it ranked low.)

“Yeah.” Sonic pushed himself up with shaking arms. His chaos energy thrummed inside him, repairing torn arteries and burst organs and generally tiding up the place. “I’m good.” He looked at Shadow, blinking a few times to get his eyes to focus. He smiled weakly. Was he missing a tooth?

The hybrid looked like dumpster got picked up by a tornado. His normally, infuriatingly, ridiculously handsome usual appearance was wildly disheveled, bits of blood, blue fur, and dirt just all over. But he stared back at Sonic with a weary warmth and the bloody shine of his iris’ dimmed to a nearly chocolatey brown.

Shads had been approaching his limit, Sonic realized. If Sonic had kept pushing, Shadow was going to eventually say bet and neither of them knew what would happen then. The whole fucking world might explode, who knows?

“Are…you good?” Sonic asked. Shadow nodded a little too eagerly. Sonic felt guilty. “Too much?”

Shadow looked away, but shook his head in the negative.

“You’d tell me if it’s too much right?”

“I don’t know.” Shadow sank into the dirt beside Sonic. They stared off across the ocean. “I don’t know if I’ll realize in time.” Shit. That wasn’t great.

Sonic drug his tired ass across the sandy ground and enveloped Shadow in a hug, burying his face into the crook of his…fuck-rival(?)’s neck. Shadow was stiff, but didn’t move to push him off. “Thank you.” He said.

Shadow grunted. “Are you going to tell me what the fuck got you so bothered?”

“Eggman.” Sonic answered flatly, not moving from the comforting location he’d found himself in.

“Obviously.” Shadow sighed. “Details, hedgehog. I think I earned some details.”

“Fight was easy. Too easy.” Sonic explained in a monotone. “I felt invincible. I got cocky. I almost died. Tails saw. Gave me that look.”

Shadow hummed. Sonic didn’t need to explain what that look was.

The did you just do that on purpose? look.

The have I been missing the signs? look.

The we really need to talk about this, we’re really worried about you look.

Sonic didn’t have a healthy relationship with his own mortality and he was fucking terrible at communicating his failings in a way that anyone else could understand. It wasn’t fully his fault though. You go Super and shit just changes, you know? Your place in the world and everything is just different after you go back to your old regular, can’t-take-a-bullet-to-the-skull body.

It was enough to lead someone with poor impulse control and an addiction to heroics and adrenaline to push the envelope in very, very risky ways. Sonic didn’t have a death wish, it only looked like he did…and apparently that was grounds for talks and shit.

No one understood.

No one, except Shadow.

Or, well, Sonic figured Shadow got it. They hadn’t really talked about it all that much between the fighting and the fucking. But the gist was that Sonic needed to get put in his place on occasion or he was just gonna get his ass merc’ed in some stupid way. It really was as simple as that.

And Shadow needed to bend the strongest thing on the planet to his will. He didn’t describe the need in, like, words, but Sonic figured it was some sort of Black Arms bullshit (as was often the case). Sonic showing up and begging to get his shit obliterated scratched some deep, dark overthrow-the-planet-and-enslave-the-populace itch Shadow had. One that, you know, if it wasn’t itched, might have some pretty dire consequences eventually.

Which, if you think about it, meant Sonic was saving the world by getting his brains beaten and then fucked out.

It was a public service.

He and his holes were taking one for the team. He was a hero, after all. It was par for the course, really. When you thought about it…yeah, totally.

Anyways, it was a good arrangement, all things considered. Sonic, for some inexplicable reason, could read the ambient chaos energy or something and hunt Shadow down anywhere on the planet. Once there, Shadow would drop whatever he was doing and rail the blue blur into submission, often time in full sight of whoever happened to have the misfortune of being near. They’d done it in front of Rouge, they’d done it in front of Eggman, they’d done it in front of recording cellphones many times.

No one understood.

It just became some sort thing no one really talked about. What the fuck was anyone gonna do? Try to get between Sonic and Shadow when they were going at it? No, of course not. Anyone stupid enough to try deserved what they got.

(Okay, so there was one exception named Omega. The killer robot wasn’t interested in the sexual element of Sonic and Shadow’s whole deal, but he sure as hell wanted to join in on the violence side. Those were the few times Sonic and Shadow took their ball and went home, teleporting off somewhere remote where they could be freaks in peace.)

Shadow wrapped his arms around Sonic and they held the embrace for a long time. Eventually Sonic passed into a daze, his body telling him to throw in the towel already. Shadow lowered him gently to the ground and climbed on top, straddling his hips.

Sonic never remembered this part very much, but when he came too some amount of time later, he was very nicely groomed and Shadow was dozing on top of him, playing the part of both a heat blanket, noise machine (the world’s most adorable purr, no contest), and guardian all at once.

Sonic released a satisfied sigh and Shadow’s ear twitched. The hybrid was quivering slightly and Sonic felt a pang of regret for taking so long to heal from the beating he’d begged for. He lifted them both, feeling Shadow’s racing pulse and rapid, shallow pants against his chest. Shifting them, Sonic looked into Shadow’s glassy, unfocused eyes.

He’d been holding it together so well.

“Shadow,” Sonic cupped his cheek, “let go.”

Shadow’s breath hitched and his body tightened, coiling like a steel spring. The sound the hybrid emitted put all Sonic’s fur on ends. A long, high-pitched whine. Shadow’s eyes were pinched shut, but tears were leaking from them nonetheless. Sonic hugged him tightly, pressing Shadow’s snout into the crook of his neck so he could follow Sonic’s scent home.

The boss battle had entered phase two.

It turns out flirting with one’s omnicidal nature had a bit of a mental cost associated with it. The first few times this weird coma-like thing had happened to Shadow Sonic had freaked the fuck out. The blue blur swore off his bullshit for better or worse, but Shadow eventually cornered him after the azure dasher about took a buzzsaw to the face that he really had no reason to be anywhere near. Shadow was clear in no uncertain terms: The bullshit was to be reinstated.

Sonic needed his priorities straightened and Shadow needed to reaffirm his autonomy. Now, was Sonic gonna give Shadow what he needed or was he going to be a pussy about it? Sonic really didn’t need to be threatened with a good time again after that.

Yes, going all villain-mode really riled up Shadow’s Black Arms instincts.

Yes, he felt tempted to do every nasty thing he told Sonic he was going to do.

Yes, Sonic was encouraging Shadow to flirt with the dark side.

But every time gave Shadow a clear way to demonstrate his mastery over his fate and biology by saying no. He wouldn’t do any of those things, not because he couldn’t (both of them were very certain that he could), but because he chose not to. Every time Shadow beat and fucked Sonic to within an inch of his life, the hybrid was reaffirming his control over himself and his life.

So, this was their thing, fucked up as it was. Sonic never gave Shadow a heads up, but the hybrid always rose to the occasion. They did normal shit, too, but that was the exception. Why be safe and sane when you could be this, right?

Sonic gently gripped Shadow’s face firmly and leaned forwards. Delicately, he licked away Shadow’s tears and began grooming the dark face. Occasionally, he’d pause and say something.

“You’re the strongest person I know. Just to be clear, though, you’re not the fastest.”

Shadow tasted like Eggman base. Machine oil and concrete dust and burn circuit boards.

I’ve got you and I’m never letting go. You’re okay. You’re okay.”

Shadow tasted like Black Arms. Bitter goo and tangy sweat and the light of distant suns.

“You can do anything you want and I’m so happy you fuck around with me anyway.”

Sonic wasn’t a poet.

Eventually Shadow’s whine stuttered out, but Sonic knew he was going to be unable to speak for a while yet, so he just kept grooming black and red fur. Once the hybrid’s face was clean, Sonic moved on to his ears and top quill. He wasn’t in a hurry. The slow, steady rasping of his tongue set the rhythm that both of their hearts were slowly synchronizing with.

He lifted Shadow and brought him to less sandy ground. Placing him onto his stomach, Sonic carded his fingers through the forest of quills, pulling away the needle-like spines to reach the soft fur below with his tongue. It was delicate work, but Sonic wouldn’t be anywhere else doing anything else, not in a million years.

Sonic knew they were both special in the way that separated them from everyone else. Without each other there would be a loneliness that neither could be free of. Eventually Shadow would have to contend with that loneliness again, maybe for a very long time after Sonic was gone, but in the meantime the blue menace was determined to leave a deep impression. So deep Shadow would be able to return to the memories for eons.

He kneaded the taunt muscles of Shadow’s back, harder than steel due to stress and the fact that Shadow was tougher than the containment doors of an intercontinental ballistic missile silo. Sonic pulled off his gloves and dug his paw pads into the stony flesh. After a lot of effort, the knots began to loosen.

Shadow would find someone new – at least, Sonic hoped that he would – to replace him once the blue blur finally kicked the bucket. And then someone after that. And someone after that. A whole chain of love starting with Sonic and stretching into eternity.

Shit, that was kinda romantic. This part of their deal always brought out the gushy side of him.

Suddenly, Shadow tensed and then went limp for a moment. He shuddered and gasped. “Sonic!” His eyes flew open, searching frantically.

In a blink, Sonic turned Shadow and pulled him into his lap. “I’m here, Shads!” Shadow’s hands encircled Sonic’s chest and he crushed him with a hug, burying his face once more into Sonic’s neck. No shaking, no trembling, just bone bruising force. Sonic held his breath until Shadow finally relaxed an iota.

“You went in deep this time, huh?” Sonic asked.

Shadow didn’t remove his face from the crook of Sonic’s shoulder, but nodded.

Riling up Shadow’s conqueror instincts tended to send the hybrid into a vivid internal dreamscape. Shadow said it had something to do with the Hivemind, even though it was a Hivemind of one now.  Sonic didn’t understand it no matter how many time Shadow explained the details, but the whole think basically boiled down to You should totes destroy the world and stuff and Shadow being all fuck you dad, I do what I want!

“What’d you tell ‘em?”

Shadow snorted and pulled back. He grinned. “I said I’m Shadow the Hedgehog and I determine my own fate.”

Sonic grinned back. “You’re damn right!”

Shadow pushed forward and captured Sonic’s lips with his, pushing them both over. They wrestled for who got to invade who and Sonic fought back pretty hard this time, though the level of violence was at a low boil. They began rolling around, each trying to end up on top, as the stars started to emerge from the retreating dusklight.

Who knows, maybe they then had totally vanilla sex or something. Stranger things had happened.
