Chapter Text
It was wet outside today, clouds frowning above tears falling from them. Mournful cries surrounded the girls in front laying. She looked peaceful. Calm. Lovable.
Megumi takes his hand and caresses the girl’s cheek hoping, praying to feel some type of warmth. He instead feels a cold clammy cheek, and his breath hitches feeling the tears on edge.
“Why would you leave me?” Megumi takes her hand rubbing it softly, longing for her dark brown eyes to open so he could see them once more. He missed the way she smiled when he came to her about his accomplishments. The way she drew small circles on his forehead, whispering quietly as he slowly fell asleep. The way her eyes shined, contrasting to how dark her eyes were.
“I love you Tsumiki.”
He left her slowly walking to Gojo’s car, tears falling freely. He never knew how much he loved the color brown until that day.
Megumi has had his job for 6 months now. He was grateful when he first got offered at the hospital because of the high pay and knowing all those shitty years in college wasn’t for nothing. Thankfully his position paid enough for him to move into his own apartment with his cousins.
Recently he started to work with patients by himself without the stress of someone watching him constantly. This was nice considering his patience was running low with people constantly questioning him and his decisions. Megumi was content knowing he was growing as a doctor, giving himself small celebrations by buying himself some nice coffee beans.
As grateful as he was some day were unbearable with grumpy patients, loud babies and immature adults, but it was okay. Routine was okay. Everything was a schedule, pattern, standard. Knowing every step before everyone else. It was just okay, and he kept it that way.
Megumi squinted at the screen, he rubbed his eyes checking again.

Section 4 Room 414
Patient was in a accident two months causing severe burns on his back and stomach. Minor burns on thighs, (they have been taken care of) focus mainly on back and stomach. His pain has increased these last few weeks, needs new antibiotic ointments and creams immediately. Daily check up every week.
A new patient. Of course it was.
Megumi groaned, sliding his hand over his face before looking down at his watch. “One more hour.” He mumbled pushing himself up out of his chair walking down the halls to get to his patient.
“Hey, I heard you got a new patient.” Mai smiled at Maki both of them giggling.
“Yeah, what’s it to you Zenin?” Megumi glared at them.
“I told you to stop calling me that.” Maki said rolling her eyes before turning to her computer. “Anyways that patient you have, be nice to him.”
“Why does my kindness concern you?”
“Because Muji, Kuji or whatever his name is, he’s friends with Maki’s crush.” Mai grinned, while walking towards Megumi. She leaned in close cupping her hand against his ear lobe. “She’s was fucking her last week.”
Megumi waved his hand trying to gain some distance between him and his cousin. He gagged at the thought. He didn’t want to know and he didn’t care what Maki was doing in her free time. “Please stop.” Megumi frowned the thought making him sick all over again.
“Stop telling all my business.” Maki raised her voice, face visibly warming up.
“Just saying if you’re going to do shit like that at least cover her mouth. We don’t have the thickest walls you know.” Mai shrugged strolling back to her seat.
Megumi turned dismissing himself from the conversation. He wasn’t in the mood to hear about his cousin’s love life when his own was sad enough. His phone rang in his pocket. He ignored it. It rang again and he shoved his hand in his pocket pulling it out annoyed.
[3:37PM] Weirdo: Gumi! Me and Suguru are going out to eat, I told him you’re coming so see you tonight at 8:00PM!
His jaw clenched slightly as he kept walking down the hall, lost in thought. “Why doesn’t he ever ask me? He just throws me into shit I don’t want to be in.” Megumi grumbled walking until he saw his patient’s door. He shook his head slightly getting rid of all thoughts, then knocked on the door signaling he was coming in.
Opening the door he saw a broad tanned figure with peachy hair. He was wearing a cream colored polo, light blue denim pants, and white adidas’s, with gold stud earrings. Megumi walked towards the man holding his hand out.
“My name is Dr. Fushiguro I’ll be your doctor for today.”
“Pleased to meet you, I’m Yuji.”
Yuji grabbed his hand and shook it with a tight squeeze. When they let go Megumi walked to the small counter where the medical equipment stayed. He put some hand sanitizer on then grabbed some gloves.
“So, I hear that you have some severe burns. Do you mind if I take a quick look?”
“Not at all.”
Yuji stood up, turning while lifting his shirt over his head. Megumi’s eyes widen to see discolored skin, huge red patches filling up the middle of his back slowly trailing down into his jeans. The scars pulsed as they got more irritated. Megumi leaned in inspecting the red marks. He then grazed lightly at one of scars feeling the other man wince in pain.
“Could you turn so I can see your stomach?”
Yuji turned again, and Megumi saw a disfigured stomach. He had a good figure, but the burns. They were worse, stretching up to his chest, dark red lines surrounding the light pink ones, like a pool. Small blisters layed outside of his hips.
Megumi touched the scars trying to be gentle, looking for any infections.
“I hope this isn’t rude, but I was expecting you to be a woman.” Yuji puts his forefinger and thumb on his chin.
“It’s fine.” Megumi glances up catching the man’s eyes. They were a light brown, but most would mistake them as hazel because of how bright they were. Like a flame on a winter night. Megumi looks down breaking contact. They sat in silence while Megumi felt around.
“So how long have you been a doctor?”
“About 6 months.”
“That’s awfully short.” Yuji furrows his brow.
“I assure you that I’m just as qualified as any other doctor here.” Megumi rolls his eyes. He’s heard that phrase at least 10 times today, and he’s getting tired of people questioning him.
“I wasn’t questioning your qualifications.” Yuji blurts, frantically waving his arms.
“It’s fine, but your skin seems to be irritated, have you been putting on your creams?” Yuji scratched the back of neck grinning like a child.
“So about that. It burns anytime I put the cream on so I’ve just stop putting it on my entirely.”
Megumi stared at Yuji.
“Ok I’ll prescribe you with some new medication. This time if it burns come back immediately, but until then please keep applying the medication otherwise your burns will get worse. Other than that you look fine.” Megumi walked towards the trash, throwing away the gloves. Yuji started to put his shirt back .
Megumi opened the door. “You can leave when you’re ready.”
“Thanks doc, I hope we get to see each other soon.” Yuji smiled cheerfully, permanent dimples showed as he made contact with Megumi
Megumi felt his face getting hot as he darted his eyes everywhere but Yuji’s.
“No problem.”
Well shit…
Megumi gets home hopping for some peace before the twins get home. When he closes the front door he’s met with two whining dogs, scratching at their bowls. Megumi exhales before grinning. “You guys are spoiled.” He bends to scratch Shiro’s head and taps Kuro’s nose. Then he grabs the dog food, pouring it in their bowls just like yesterday. Megumi smiles as the two furry animals start chowing down.
He then turns, walking to his room, closing the door quietly. As he settled into his chair he starts to let the noise outside dissolve around him. Children shout and scream from the park near by, while traffic became a distant melody. Bells rung from different convenience stores, conversations slowly turning to whispers as the sun fell. Closing his eyes Megumi lets the noise consume him like every day. Routine. Pattern.
A noise disrupts his peace. Opening a eyelid Megumi feels his phone vibrate in his pocket. He grabs it, and swipes up looking at his notifications.
[6:13PM] Weirdo: Don’t forget about our dinner tonight! ;)
Megumi groaned throwing his arm over his eyes. After a few minutes he stood up and stretched taking a deep breath before walking towards his closet.
“I really need to go shopping for some new clothes.”
Finally arriving at the restaurant, Megumi has grey, baggy, denim pants, a white t-shirt, and white Nike’s. He looks over to see Suguru waving at him smiling, sitting at a table. Megumi walks over and sits with him.
“Hey Megumi how have you been?”
“Fine. Where’s Gojo?” Megumi looks around, frowning.
“He’s running a bit late, but you know how he is.” Suguru chuckles before grabbing the menu looking around. Megumi does the same looking at the descriptions of each meal, displeased at none of them having ginger.
A few minutes of peace before a tall, pale man shouts his name across the restaurant.
“Gumi!!” Gojo shouts as Megumi tries to hide his face with the menu, throwing his nose deeper into the words on the laminated paper. Suguru snickers, as Gojo makes his way over to the two.
“Gumi , my child why haven’t you visited me?” Gojo throws himself into the booth, sitting beside Megumi. He loops his arms around Megumi’s neck, pulling him closer to him. Gojo hugs him ruffling his hair in the process, while Geto watches smiling at the two.
“That’s enough.” Megumi pushes him off, rolling his eyes as Gojo frowns a bit. “I do visit you, you’re just never home.”
“No, you visit Suguru, Mimiko, and Nanako. I don’t appreciate being left out of the family reunion.” Gojo throws his finger up, sliding his sunglasses down his nose, tilting his head towards Megumi. Geto rolls his eyes smiling.
“Maybe this weekend you could visit us. Satoru will be home and your sisters miss you.” Geto grabs Gojo’s hand, rubbing them gently, stopping him from touching Megumi.
“Yeah, no way.” Megumi waves his hand, frowning at the thought. He came home so he could get away from the noise, not so he could come home to even more.
“You say that like I’m a disease.” Gojo furrows his brow, wiping a fake tear from his eyes.
“You’re certainly not the cure for cancer.” Megumi rolls his eyes as they start bickering.
The waitress walks up, interrupting the their conversation. After everyone orders Geto stares at Gojo, both of them communicating in grunts, frowns and smiles. After a few minutes of ignoring them Megumi clears his throat making the two look at him.
“Tell me.” Megumi stares at Gojo.
“Tell you what?” Gojo’s eyes widen.
“Just tell him.” Geto sighs.
“Okay fine. Me and Suguru are moving soon.” Gojo blurts, breathing a bit harder. “We’ve been trying to find a way to tell you for months.”
“Months?!” Megumi shouts, making Geto wince while others in the restaurant stared. “You’re just telling me now?” Megumi hisses, making a effort to whisper.
“We just wanted to make sure you have some support before we left, like your cousins.” Geto says as he reaches his hand over to Megumi’s hand.
“Support? You waited months to tell me this, so I can have support?” Megumi slaps Geto’s hand away.
“See we knew you would act like this. This is exactly we didn’t tell you.” Gojo throws his arms over his chest.
“You know what. Fuck this.” Megumi stood up, shoving his way through Gojo’s legs. He walked towards the bright colored door of the restaurant and yanked it open, hearing the bell on his way out. He felt the cold air rush on his face as he walked down the sidewalk. He sniffled shoving his hands in the pockets of his jeans, the cold night numbing his fingers tips. Cold wet tears slide down his cheeks, Megumi throws his forearm into his eyes.
”This is fucking stupid.”
