Work Text:

The time crystal in Felt’s hand read 12:00 AM, it was nighttime, in a certain loothouse, and Felt had decided she would watch over it since her Old Man Rom had to go do business for the night, little did she know, the scariest night of her life would begin.

The night had officially begun, Felt went over and checked through the windows that somehow existed within the loothouse, there was nobody out there, that was good.

12:20 AM

Long before she knew it, 20 minutes had passed, the scent of the wood was the exact same as it had been, even if nothing of note had truly happened, it was still fun to think about. She decided to check on the swords and noticed they were slightly off, after adjusting them, they looked good as new! She decided to take a little nap, she had run around for almost the entire day after all.

She awoke to the familiar noise of knocking on the door, as she got up, trying to be as quiet as possible, she decided to check the time crystal. It read 1:50 AM.

It had gotten pretty late, she had slept for at least an hour and a half. After walking over, she slowly opened the door…

It creaked, and past the shining of the moon was a half melted thing, she couldn’t describe it, everything stopped making sense, too dark, too light, all her–

She closed the door immediately. She didn’t know what the hell that was, or whatever it had been doing in front of the loothouse, she reopened the door, and it was empty, like it had never been there at all, as if the sludge that it had left behind it as a trail of faces permanently etched in horror weren’t following its trail.

Maybe it was best not to think about that.

By the time she had managed to come back to her senses, it was already 2:30 AM as shown on the time crystal, she immediately ran over and picked up a sword off the wall. She wanted to defend herself from whatever that thing was.

She heard knocking on the windows, she rushed over and saw a silhouette, she immediately swung the heavy sword and the silhouette faded away.

Her breaths were heavy, palm’s sweaty–

For the next couple of minutes, she had decided to focus on any noises that were heard, proceed to go near them, and if there was a silhouette there, she would swing the sword.

The rhythm kept swaying before the noises eventually stopped, she went over and checked the time crystal, it read 3:10 AM.

She let herself rest, that was all she wanted for now, it laid very much on her heart, was any of this even real? Time crystals don’t usually read themselves so arbitrarily with numbers, they were segmented into four 6 hour segments. There was also the shadows, and whatever the FUCK she saw earlier, that fleshy melted mass will probably never leave her mind if she somehow manages to survive tonight, next time she’ll ask Rom if he ever had to see a flesh amalgamation whenever he stayed the night.

She saw a glint of a knife in the corner, it was very faint, it was a familiar feeling that she thought she would forget.

In the nick of time Felt had managed to jump over the blade of the bowel hunter, the hunter’s face was covered by her hair, and her movements were more erratic, as if she was a wild animal acting on instinct. Felt had to hop around the walls as she could with her divine protection, she knew if she had faltered even once she would be dead.

Felt slipped and before she knew it, she was pushed out of the way by a hand that she knew.

It was that boy she met, the strange one that maybe had the looks of a noble. His face was obscured and before she knew it, his guts spilled out on the floor and he was bleeding. She dropped down and tried to shake him, to make sure he was okay, she knew it was hopeless.

Hey, big bro.. BIG BRO!

Wake up, please, please.

Why was this happening, when did he appear? Why was he here? He saved her life again and instead of both of them being able to survive he had to die, it wasn’t fair.

Eventually, she found herself face to face with the hunter once more, this time, her hair wasn’t obscured, she was smiling, her prey was right in front of her, she raised the blade high. Felt started trembling uncontrollably, she was shocked, there was no way out of this.

Felt-sama?

She was shaking, full on, before she knew it there, her life was going to end.

Felt-sama!

Felt promptly shot up from her bed, there were tear marks on her face and she was still trembling, looking to her right, she found her knight, the sword saint, Reinhard van Astrea looking at her with concern. His voice was lower than usual. “Felt-sama, are you alright?”

She looked downward, not wanting to admit what she had just experienced. “I’m okay, you idiot.”

“Felt-sama, my divine protection of nightmares had indicated that you were having a nightmare.”

“Seriously!?” Felt looked dumbfoundedly at her knight, she wondered if he had a divine protection for EVERY situation.

She decided to simply let him off for the day, she also decided to rest for the entire day too, she really did not want to think about what would have happened had she not run back or had not been saved, she made it out, that’s all that matters.

Notes:

In the end, this fic doesn't mean much, I didn't intend to release it but It would irk me if I just had something unfinished, this was just a test of prose.
