inefficiency; a noun that stands for a failure to use time, money, labor, or energy in an acceptable and efficient manner.

Summary:

0629 stared at the blue, blue sky and wondered if 0701's Correction was over.

Or, longing is for those who have something to long for.

Notes:

Inspired by chapter five specifically >_<

It's kinda funny that we all ignore the fact that Mineta is canonically part of the Dekusquad.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

HPSC HANDLER LOG ENTRY # ██ : SUBJECT #0629 [ ██████ ████ ]

Subject #0629 [ ███████ ████ ]'s recent missions have been exhibiting inefficent tactics, such as allowing its targets a chance to alert potential witnesses. This habit must be Corrected immediately. 0629's previous handler has granted it a dictionary, use 0629's attachment to the fullest use immediately and train it for potential overseas assignments.

Denki's arms whirled as he tripped into the room, sending an incredulous stare towards Ashido, who just gaped in return before running away.

"Kaminari." Eraserhead deadpanned, raising an eyebrow at him.

"U-uhm, Aizawa-sensei! Haha.. Uhm, Hi..? I totally wasn't eavesdropping, by the way!" Denki stuttered, grinning sheepishly as he shot a pair of flimsy finger-guns. According to 1228, this is what 'Kaminari Denki' would do in this situation.

"What are you doing here?" Eraserhead said, ignoring Denki's pitiful tactic at saving face.

Denki gulped. This was going accordingly. "Soo, y'know how I have an Electricity Quirk, rightt?" Eraserhead pinched his brow, "I, uh-, thought I could, you know, help..?" He finished off lamely, his finger-guns drooping pitifully.

Eraserhead let out a pained sigh, glaring sharply before sucking in a breath, letting out an empathetic "No-"

"Are you sure?" The man next to him interrupted. Tsukauchi Naomasa, Denki noted, a policeman with a Lie-Detector Quirk. Useful. The Commission was wary of him. Suited for interrogation assignments.

Denki nodded, surely, blubbering attempts at bravado gone. "Very."

Hook, line and sinker. That's what the manual said for when something goes according to plan.

"We're here." Tsukauchi announced, nodding towards the door that led to the dark cube of an interrogation cell.

"-f at any moment you want to pull out-" Aizawa ignored him, repeating the same sentence for the umpteenth time, like a broken record of sorts.

Denki shook his head distractedly, repeating monotone. "-Turn to you and say 'I can't', I get it already!" He groaned, shooing them away and happily waving the pair off cheerily, turning away with an airy "I'll be fine!"

Denki shut the door with a quiet click, pulling off the blue hoodie and tossing it into the corner as 0629 looked up at the massive assignment tied to the chair.

How inefficient.

There were too many loose ends for the target to escape from, although it seemed that he hadn't noticed them.

"Oh, would you look at that? They sent an intern for me!" The target cackled, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

0629 stared at him, its expression impassive.

How odd. Its interrogation assignments were usually much more compliant. Maybe it was because 0701 always helped sedate them first.

This was new. How interesting.

0629 wondered if he might yield sooner with electricity or if it just did the usual. It worked for the others.

An earsplitting scream left Gotou's body, pathetic blubbering pleas leaving his lips as he tried to inch away. Away from the pain. Away from the feeling of all his nerves set alight. Away from the devil in front of him.

Away from unseeing eyes that knew too much.

Away from electricity flickering around pale fingers.

Away from the shell of a human being.

A finger lightly brushed against his tremoring arm.

Gotou stopped. A shiver felt deep in his bones as he stared down at the figure standing before him, electric eyes dull with amusement as they dug through his soul, reaching for every single reaction, tracking the sweat beading on his forehead, a hand reaching towards his head as Gotou's body froze stock-still in place. This was a terror one felt only when faced with the devil himself.

This boy-no, this monster was going to kill him. And it wouldn't even care.

Oh god. He was going to die.

His lips trembled as he opened his mouth.

0629 stared at the body crumpled in the chair. Information it had already been briefed on flickering through its mind as it sorted through what the assignment had told him and what his handler had informed him of.

It was unexpectedly easy, 0701 would be pleased since 0701 usually did all the work, which tired out his voice. So maybe 0629 could assist in a future assignment since he did an acceptable job?

0629 felt a warmth unfurl in its ribcage.

0701 caused that reaction a lot, although 0629 was unsure as to whether it was a "crush" similar to Kirishima's situation or different since it was quite similar to the other odd warmth 'Kaminari Denki' felt with Class 1-A.

How odd.

Blood seeped into the cracks of pearly porcelain tiles, staining the floor with a shiny red sheen, unmoving hands holding tight onto stuffed animals torn to shreds in the midst of their panic, small bodies curled around themselves, too still to be sleeping.

0701 stared at the corpses laid onto the floor, its hands dripping with blood, it still got hung up over completing its assignments, the scars on its face seemed to be there constantly, never with a chance to heal. Its eyes wide with an expression 0629 associated closely with the faces of targets right before their faces clouded over, their features melting away, nestling in the crooks and crannies of the ground before them, the only thing that ever stayed were the eyes. Dull, dead eyes that stared at the sky, waiting for their release from earth.

Waiting to fly to heaven, eyes sparkling naturally, without the training everyone went through.

0629 made sure to gently close their eyes shut for a peaceful rest with no need to wake up.

The dictionary that had been handed to 0629 by a previous handler had explained the expression as "anguish"? How odd.

0629 could not remember feeling that way.

0701 had no reason to look like that. It was supposed to be- What was it supposed to be? Hm.

"0701?" 0629 questioned, voice hushed as it tapped 0701 on the shoulder.

The flinch that accompanied 0701's frightened reaction resided in 0629's mind much longer than it was meant to be.

Oddly enough, after that, it never approached 0701 in that specific manner to 0629's utter confusion.

0701 stood before his handler, frozen as the voice seemed to echo in the room, trying to make sense of these new instructions. His uncut fringe covering his eyes, shielding him from looking at his handler.

"Create connections in Class 1-A, 0629's performance is deteriorating. Eraserhead is beginning to suspect 0629. Divert Eraserhead's attention away from 0629. Use any means necessary, exempt of disposing the interference. You can do that, can't you?"

0701 could do that, the question was how?

The trees rustled in the wind, drops of moisture glistening on emerald leaves as Denki strolled towards the dorms, humming a tune under his breath as he vehemently ignored the stares burning into his back, rendering his Quirk useless.

Was it not normal to have interrogation-specific learning? He would have to ask 0701.

0629 stared at the blue, blue sky and wondered if 0701's Correction was over.
