Work Text:

Another Friday night frat party ending around midnight due to campus laws, another chill afterparty in the alpha house for those who don’t want to go to bed just yet.
Jeongguk wants to go to bed; he’s had his fair share of alcohol tonight, and he can feel the beginning of his prerut kicking in, but his friends would never let him hear the end of it if he left the party early.
Even though it ended at midnight.
But alphas are dumb, so here he is, sitting with his friends while they giggle over stupid shit and Jeongguk plays a mindless idle game on his phone that he kept getting ads about until he finally downloaded it out of spite - now he’s got to play everyday to keep his stupid streak going. He swears he’s going to delete the app once he hits a certain level.
“Truth or dare?”
Jeongguk looks up at Yugyeom, pausing the game.
“What are we? Twelve?”
“Pick one, Jeongguk.” Mark whines.
He looks back down at his game, “Neither.”
“That’s not fun, pick one.” Mingyu kicks Jeongguk's foot, making him jump and lose his game. Officially out of lives for the next twenty minutes. He will not pay this app any more money than he has.
“If i pick one, will you fuck off?”
Mark almost squeaks, “we swear on the Goddess above.”
Jeongguk pockets the phone with an annoyed sigh, “…Dare.”
The immediate silence amuses him.
“Ah, shit. I thought he’d go with truth.”
Jeongguk rolls his eyes at Yugyeom, “okay, nevermind. I’m going to bed.” He stands up from the couch, letting his tipsy brain figure its shit out before he moves again.
“Oh! Mingyu! Make him do the thing!”
Jeongguk turns to Mark, “The wha—?”
“Oh shit, the thing!”
“The thing?”
“The THING!”
Jeongguk blinks at his friends, part of him hoping the Goddess herself would make them disappear, or at least become sober enough to tolerate.
Alas, she must be busy with something else. Because here they were, staring at him with big drunken stupid smiles.
He tries again, “What is the thing?”
“Park. Jimin.” Mingyu smiles, a glint of mischief in those puppy dog eyes.
“Omega Park Jimin?” The three friends nod like a three headed beast. “I’m not doing Park Jimin as a dare.”
“No!
“Ewugh!”
“We’re not demonic alphas, you creep!”
The three all start shouting in unison, Mingyu throwing a pillow at Jeongguk like the sight of the alpha offended him.
“What we mean, Jeongguk, is that Park Jimin is known on campus.” Yugyeom happily supplies, “and he’s known as being the best smelling omega, right?”
“Oh my god, it’s so good. I heard it’s almost like it changes to whatever smell is the smell of your soulmate.”
“That’s not a thing, Mark.” Mingyu glares.
“Yes it is!” Mark’s quick to defend, “When I was near him, he smelled like vanilla and sandalwood. But when Chris was near him, he said he smelled like freesia and jasmine.”
“Chris can barely smell as it is. And I doubt he has the brain cells to know what freesia is.” Mingyu’s eyes roll as per usual any time the other alpha was mentioned. Jeongguk would tease him about it if wasn’t so uninterested in being at this party.
“Yeah? Then what does he smell like to you, Gyu? Oh that’s right. You’ve never been able to get within ten feet of him because he thinks you’re a creep.”
“I’m not— who fucking cares? He can’t change his scent! That’s not physically possible!”
“Which is why, Jeongguk’s dare is to solve this question.” Yuegyeom interjects, hoping to put a temporary pause on the bickering.
“What question?” Jeongguk asks, already knowing where this was going, but hoping he was wrong.
Jeongguk has only ever heard of Park Jimin, never having crossed the same paths. Jimin majors in dance, Jeongguk changes majors every semester, only focusing on general education and fun electives until he figures it out.
Currently he’s hyperfixated on business, though his statistics class is enough to make him want to never want to look at numbers, or words, ever again.
All Jeongguk knows about Park Jimin is that he's allegedly the most beautiful omega and every alpha and beta wants him, but he doesn’t want them back. Earning him a certain title of being a prudeish omega.
Oh, and apparently his smell changes for any alpha he’s near. Which isn’t impossible, like Mingyu says, it’s just insanely rare; a specific genetic passed down from our ancestors that got twisted into stories of true soulmates and romantic fantasies. Jeongguk learned about that when he was on his history major kick.
“I have it on good authority that Park Jimin is in preheat right now.”
“And he thinks I’m the creep.” Mingyu’s pout can be heard across the world, making Mark giggle.
“Go to his dorm, get something that smells like him, preferably his panties, and bring it back. And we’ll decide once and for all what does Park Jimin smell like?”
He should have picked Truth…
