“GET HIM! He cannot have gone far!”
Scrambling to get to his feet, Leon ran as hard as he possibly could. He had to get away from them, the noise, the people staring at this young boy running from pirates.
One moment, Leon was minding his own business helping his mother hang up clothes to dry. The next, the clothes were stained with blood.
Ravenous sea monsters calling themselves ‘Pharmacists of the Tides’ murdered his parents in cold blood, only to steal a corner of a map Leon’s father had ripped into shreds for no one to find.
Leon hid behind a barrel, hyperventilating, trying to ground himself. His heart was beating louder than the yelling, his palms sweatier than any labourer’s pits. Leon couldn’t see clearly, trying to keep still in this mess of a situation.
If they found him.. He would lose the only thing left of his parents.
Leon didn’t hear the footsteps approaching.
“Hey, hey.. look at me, son. Focus on me, alright?” An older dashing man kneels down next to him, an attire similar to the Captain of Pharmacists of the Tides.
“Don’t worry, I am not one of them. Let’s get you somewhere safe.” The man picks Leon up, jogging to the docks.
“Weigh anchor and set sail! NOW!!” Leon felt the deck shake beneath his weight as he’s put down in the Captain’s quarters. Not feeling any calmer now that he’s been taken to sea by some stranger, Leon bursts into tears. His knuckles turn white from gripping the shred of paper so strongly.
The gravity of the situation finally dawning on him. His parents are gone, there is nothing left of his family aside from this tiny shred of paper. What is he going to do now, he’s lost everything.
30 minutes go by, Leon’s managed to stop hyperventilating for the moment. The older man walks in holding a glass of water and a pillow.
He kneels down in front of Leon, “You can call me Captain Lucky, and welcome on board of Lucky’s Revenge.
Me ‘n my crew have a shared goal of taking down those dirty Pirates, The Pharmacists of the Tides.
They murder dozens of innocents and honorable sailors trying to find the Siren’s Jewels. Your father, kid, was an important target for them. You see, that shred of paper in your hands is part of a map to those Artifacts. Luckily, he ripped it, but.. He was a good man. So was your mother. I’m sorry.”
Leon couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Dirty Pirates, weren’t all Pirates dirty?? A-and his dad, his mother.. There was no time to process this information, he had to fight for the, become the right type of pirate.
On this day, Leon swore to become a pirate. A Pirate of Justice, taking down the Pharmacists of the Tides.
Leon S. Kennedy, orphaned by the enemy, grows up to take over Lucky’s Revenge as a captain after everyone else is slaughtered during a lethal trap set up by the Pharmacists.
