Chapter Text

It was a dreadful morning for Marinette. However, for the rest of Paris, it was not. The sun casted a golden glow on the city at the early hour, the birds sang in almost synchronized harmonies, and civilians made their ways to work. It seemed as though everyone was happy, except for Marinette. She had decided that today, she would break up with Adrian.

Marinette had never wanted to have to do this. Ever. But, she knew she just couldn't tell Adrian who she became when there was an acumatized villain roaming around. She couldn't keep lying to him about where she suddenly had to pop off to where somebody reeked havoc. She just couldn't.

Marinette stepped down into her kitchen, hearing her parents faint voices in the bakery below. She realized how early it was, and tilted her head slightly. She decided not to overthink it, and that it just gave her more time to practice what to say to Adrian. She went back up to her loft and transformed, her attire immediately changing to the hero of Paris. She entered her balcony and took a deep breathe of the early morning air in, before alerting Alya, turning on her location, and finally, jumped to a rooftop where she would wait.

She kicked her feet impatiently untill her friend arrived. As Alya hopped onto the same roof, Marinette starting tearing up. Alya's face twisted from confusion to worry as she sat next to her. Marinette buried her face in her hands before speaking.

"Alya, I- I need to" She sniffled before crying again.

"Hey, hey. Take your time, Marinette" her friend comforted her.

"I need to break up with Adrien" She said, tears rapidly dripping from her face.

"What? Why? What did he do, I swear if h-"

"No, Alya, he did nothing it's just... he cant know about this. That i'm..."

"...Ladybug" Alya whispered, finishing her best friend's sentence.

Marinette fully broke down into sobs and Alya stayed with her for what felt like years. When Marinette finally calmed down, Alya hugged her tightly.

"Marinette, i'm your best friend. If this is really what you need to do, then... I support you"

Marinette ran home from school in sobs. She had pulled Adrian aside after school and told him that she could no longer be with him. She kept it brief, said that it wasn't working out and that she needed to be away from him. She didn't give Adrian the chance to even think, before running away from him. She clutched the straps of her backpack (?) and ran home. She rushed past her parents in the bakery, and ran up the stairs her loft, before locking the latch. she pushed her knees to her chest and sobbed. Tiki floated in the air, and she nuzzled her head against Marinette's cheek. Which was exactly what Marinette needed. No words were spoken, only sobs and cried coming from Marinette.

...

Adrian stood there, frozen. He watched as his bodyguard pulled up in a sleek black car. His face twisted into a big frown as he opened the door and sat down. He looked out the widow and could see Marinette running while wiping tears from her face, and he started silently crying. His bodyguard looked at him from the mirror above his head, but decided to just focus on driving.

Adrian laid on his bed and just stared at the high up ceiling. Plagg tried talking to him, but it was no use. Adrian just kept silently repeating "Why?" as he listened to a playlist titled "Sad Playlist" on Spotify. Adrians fingers had pruned from constantly wiping his own tears. Adrian knew he loved Marinette more than anyone. He knew it would be nearly impossible for him to stop loving her. She had become his world, and it was very hard to picture a world without Marinette by his side. Suddenly, Adrian heard a faint knock on his bedroom door. He sprung up, assuming it was Marinette. He quickly dried his eyes before rushing to the door. As he was about to swing the door open, he heard a soft voice. Not Marinette's, Natalies. His face shattered in disappointment.

"Adrian, are you alright? You rushed to your room before I could even ask you about school." her concerned voice spoke.

"Yes, Natalie, I'm fine" He said in a way that made Natalie aware that he was, in fact, not fine.

He listened to her footsteps backing away and sighed. Plagg had decided it was the right time to speak.

"Adrian you need to talk to Marinette"

"You don't think I know that Plagg?" He said coldly, before initiating transformation.

"Plagg claws out" he said unenthusiastically.

He jumped building to building for what felt like hours, but was only 7 minutes. He had only been jumping to clear his head, but it really only gave him time to think about how amazing Marinette was, and how he absolutely fumbled a baddie. Although he wasn't actually sure how. He was just thinking about how much he loved Marinette, when he realized he was passing by her house. Suddenly he had heard a sharp noise. "Here kitty kitty!" The voice came from Marinette's balcony (?) and once he realized that, his whole mood lightened. He used his pole to travel the gap between buildings, and landed on her railing. He frowned at her expression "What's wrong Marinette?" He already knew the answer, but Chat Noir did not. So, he perched on the railing and waited for a response.
