Chapter Text
It was just another day for Sucrose.
Sun high in the sky, a pleasant breeze that caresses the curtains inside the alchemist’s lab and flutters her own hair as it passes by. Sucrose couldn’t be more content with things as they were; working with Mister Albedo was always such a pleasure.
There would be this little game she played by herself, where she tried to guess what words would come out of his mouth next or what tool he would need at just a motion of his hands. Truly a commendable assistant on the outside, but hopelessly in love on the inside.
That didn’t matter much, for Sucrose could stay for as long as she was wanted inside this small piece of paradise called the alchemist lab. Her feelings could be easily ignored, as natural as they were to her. Loving Albedo was like breathing, and she was content enough with just standing next to him.
Albedo writes his annotations as she follows him. Sucrose is much accustomed to this moment of silence before they discuss the next step of experiments. She knows she should focus, write her own observations down as usual and yet, she is distracted.
Her stomach softly rumbles.
Sucrose’s cheeks flush red, but Albedo keeps on writing with a focused look on his face. She holds back a sight to not call his attention. Her mind wanders to one of her many alterations of the sweet flower, subject 2 to be precise. It was such a good test version of it, how was the experiment even cancelled in the first place? It wasn’t toxic at all and… Her stomach rumbles again, she can almost taste those sweet flower candies she makes.
“I’m so hungry I could eat Subject 2…”
She faintly heard the cracking sound of a pencil, but it was lost on her rumbling stomach and her thoughts.
Surely, it wouldn’t mean anything… right?
