Chapter Text
Many millennials ago, immortals such as Vampires and Werewolves lived harmoniously. They would get along to the point that Vampires were once part of Werewolves pack and would often go hunting together.
Vampires would use to use their powers to help the Werewolves choose and pinpoint their prey's location, just as werewolves were in charge of actually dealing damage and sometimes cleaning up after they finish their shared meals.
It was a tradition set in stone and followed by many generations. But up until the very recent centuries, the rivalry started to become prevalent.
Just as when humans started to be aware of their supernatural existence, the bond between the two creatures broke. Vampires became isolated and recluse as werewolves started to blend into human civilization, hiding their wolf counterparts to fit in more.
No one knew when the rivalry really started but one could only spew theories.
Inside the manor, a sleeping vampire emerged from slumber. Awoken by the sharp ray of moon that illuminated his room.
Freminet stepped out of his coffin, feeling his bones crack from laying down for almost three days on a hard surface.
He's hungry— famished, even. It's been a week since he last drank blood. He hasn't drank any even before he hibernated for three days.
He looked around his room, scrap metals , papers and books scattered around the floor.
He hadn't cleaned up as well as he left everything as it is before he slept.
Overwhelmed with the state of his room, he settled on cleaning first before starting his day…. night?
As a nocturnal creature, it's normal for him to be awake in the middle of the night. But for normal vampires, they shouldn't be waking up parched from blood like he does. He wouldn't even drink unless he desperately needs to to survive.
His siblings and Father strictly opposed this habit of his but he couldn't help himself.
He could practically hear them scold him as he picked up the fallen papers from the ground.
“Freminet, drink your blood! you'll turn into ashes before you'll know it if you continue acting like this!” scolded Lyney once.
While is sister, Lynette, would resort to a gentle approach, taking him by his hands and leading him to their stash of blood.
Their father would often leave a few packs on his bedside stand, ensuring that he drinks his fill as soon as he wakes up from his hibernation.
oh.
he remembered.
He turned back and saw his small fridge sitting besides his bedside stand. He slowly dropped everything he's holding onto his table and walked towards it, feeling sluggish.
Inside his fridge was multiple packs haphazardly left by his siblings. It wasn't filled when he slept so it became obvious to him that his siblings might have been leaving them each night for Freminet until he wakes up.
He smiled slightly as he took one pack and opened it.
“Ah…”
Freminet started drinking his meal as he absentmindedly played with one of the fallen gears that he saw when he sat against his bed.
Suddenly,
“THWACK—”
Freminet flinched at the loud sound coming from outside the manor. He immediately stood up as he walked towards his window.
When he peered over, he saw an unconscious human lying on the grassy field besides their century tree.
“what the…”
Curiosity got the best of him as he sipped the last remaining blood and opened his window.
He looked back into his room to make sure no one was there to catch him slipping out. There, he saw his robot companion, Pers, leaning against the leg of the table, having yet to be fixed.
He shook his head as he jumped out of his window with his bat wings extended behind him, letting him safely glide down besides the unconscious body
Up close, he realized that it wasn't just a normal human being. Now that he's near, he could make sense of the shape of the werewolves ears that sits on his heavy tuff of hair and his dark tail that wrapped around the wolf's body from the fall.
Thankfully, the wolf didn't have obvious fractures or scratches on his exposed limbs, just a few leaves and twigs stuck on his fur.
Out of nowhere, the wereman was up and tackled Freminet to the ground.
“GRAH!” he squawks, almost like a bird but mostly like the bark of a dog. Freminet's eyes were tightly closed. His arms placed on top of his eyes
Upon noticing his (lack of) reaction, the wereman immediately pulled away, giggling to himself. “What, don't tell me you're scared!? I'm only kidding!”
The wereman pulled him to sit up, helping him clear the leaves that were stuck on his clothing and hair.
“Penguin Pajamas? Nice!”
Freminet immediately looked down as his face reddened against his will.
He forgot.
“D-... Don't look at it…” he mumbled, trying to use his wings to cover himself.
“woah, look at this fleshy thing!” The wereman gasped. “You're a vampire, right? Can I touch your wings?”
Freminet blinked. No one had ever asked him that… preposterous…
“heh, I heard that.” the other giggled.
Have I been speaking out loud?
“Pretty much, yeah.”
Freminet blinks as he stares at the other's grin and the little bit of his teeth peaking out.
“I did it again…” He grumbled under his breath.
“Well, okay fine, I won't touch you without your permission!” the wolf said, keeping his hands inside his hoodie's pocket as if to restrain himself.
Freminet blinked loudly as he lowered his wings to look at him clearly without obstructions. “How did you find yourself here…?”
“Oh, you know!” The wolf’s ear twitched on top of his head. Freminet could see how the other shifted uncomfortably in front of him.
“I was hunting with my pack— err family, I guess in laymen's terms. And then I found myself tripping then I fell down from that hill and hit my head on my way down with that big tree.” The wereman continued as he pointed at the hill behind them, showing where he fell and what three had stopped his fall.
The wereman continues. “Then I found myself here, beside your big house!”
Assuming that the wereman could sense the vampire tensing and doubt of his story, he rapidly continues talking, over explaining himself to the stranger.
“Hey, it really did happen, okay? I even passed out for a bit before I sensed you coming towards me!” He said quickly as to quell the thoughts that might form in Freminet’s mind that could incriminate him. “I'm not lying!”
“I wasn't even going to ask…” Freminet mumbled.
The wereman laughed again. “You’re funny! What's your name? I'm Yip Ga Ming! Let's be friends!”
“I'm a vampire…! I—” Freminet looked away. “w…we can't b—”
Ga ming cuts him off immediately as if he already knew the next words that would be coming out of his mouth. “So what! That's an old tradition only old people follow and conform to!”
He gasped again. “Oh, right! You're a vampire right? You're so old that you don't follow the current trends anymore, right?”
“I'm not old…” He weakly defended.
“...Right… in vampire logic, right?” Ga ming asked. “500 years old doesn't seem old to Vampires! That's okay!”
“I'm not that old!” Freminet quickly shook his head no. “I'm only 90 years old…!”
“Oh…! So how do you compute that to human years?” Ga ming asked. “I'm 17 years old! Us werewolves also count our ages like how a normal human counts their age!”
“90 years old is equivalent to 17 years in human age… we typically turn 100 when we get to our 18th birthday.” Freminet mumbled.
“Great! then we're the same age! All the more reason why we have to be friends!” Ga ming chirped, leaning forward to match Freminet's height. There's not much of a difference between the two in terms of their height, but Ga ming still visibly looks taller than Freminet anyway.
“No…!” Freminet said with a little more force.
“Why not?” Ga ming dramatically sighed, pulling away from him.
“Because…!” Freminet hesitated.
“Because?” The other replied, tilting his head to the side.
“I.. I just can't…” Freminet mumbled. “I'm not like you, Ga ming. I'm an immortal…”
“Can I at least get your name?” Ga ming asked, dimming his playfulness down.
The vampire felt his throat tightening a little as he felt himself hesitating more.
“Hm, it seems that I won't be getting a name on the first try. But that's okay!” Ga ming offers a smile to Freminet.
“That's…” He mumbled again, words fading into silence as he accepted his hand.
Ga ming turned around, following the sounds of multiple howls. Freminet could hear it with his enhanced vampire senses. Curiously, Freminet looked around with him.
“Mhm! I can hear my parents looking for me. I must've not realized that I have been gone for a while since they don't do that most of the time.” Ga ming grins, preparing to leave.
“Anyway! I'll see you next time we hunt! I'll be here again!”
Before Freminet could respond, the wereman had already transformed into his wolf form and ran back up the hill until he's a lump in his sight.
Freminet could only watch him as he left, leaving him with the same silence that had been there his whole life.
He looks back at his family house then back up the hill, ensuring that the wolf wouldn't turn back around and follow him into his house.
Freminet dusted his pyjama pants one last time before stretching his bat wings, getting ready to fly back up into his window.
