Lili’s POV
I open my eyes and find myself in a place that looks like a cartoon....
I don’t know where I am.
That’s the first thing I realize.
The second is that my head hurts.
And the third...
I hear a voice.
???: I DON’T CARE ABOUT YOU!
I flinch and quickly look in the direction the voice came from.
In front of me is a purple rabbit.
A... rabbit?
And a girl wearing a jester hat who is staring at him in shock...
Wait... why is a rabbit talking?
???: I don’t care about Ragatha! I don’t care about Gangle! I don’t care about Zooble! I don’t care about Kinger!
What are these names...
The girl doesn’t say anything.
I stay a few steps behind them, trying to figure out what the hell is going on.
???: You’re nothing but toys!
I raise an eyebrow.
What the hell...?
???: I like it when you suffer! I like messing with you! I like making you feel bad! It’s fun for me!
That’s...
Pretty morbid.
The rabbit kicks a colorful cube on the floor.
???: Damn it!
I remain frozen.
He looks like he’s about to explode.
But after a few seconds, he raises his head and puts that fake smile back on his face.
???: There’s nothing there anymore.
He turns his back to us.
???: So stop staring.

I think I’ve ended up in a place full of crazy people.
I take a step back.
The floor makes a noise.
The rabbit stops.
He turns around.
His eyes meet mine.
We both remain completely still.
???: ...
Lili: ...
Perfect.
Now I have to say something.
Lili: Hi?
The girl looks at me and answers.
???: Hey.... Who are you?
I look at her.
Lili: I wish I knew too.
I look at my hands.
Then my clothes.
Then my tail.
My tail...
It’s rainbow-colored.
Since when do I have a tail?!
I put my hand on the cat ears on my head.
Lili: And... since when do I have ears?
The rabbit looks at me like I’m the weirdest creature he’s ever seen.
???: You’re new... wonderful... another one...
He doesn’t sound like he’s asking a question.
Lili: I guess I am.
???: What’s your name?
I stare at him for a few seconds.
Lili: I don’t really know...
???: You have a Lulu face... from Lili, but who cares!! Caine shouldn’t let people come here anymore!!!
Pomni: Please ignore him, Jax. By the way, I’m Pomni, he’s Jax. I’ll introduce you to the others if you want at the award ceremony.
Jax: Yeah... I’m leaving....
Pomni: Hey!!
Jax and Pomni leave...
I leave too and walk through the circus....
Later, after the award ceremony...
Pomni and I are standing in front of something that looks like a giant dental prosthesis with eyes and a human-like personality....
His name is Caine...
Owner of the Digital Circus....
He quickly shows me around the circus and then disappears...
Pomni leads me to my room.
I quickly close the door behind me and stay inside....
I slide down the door until I’m sitting on the floor and look around my room.....
Everything looks like a rainbow threw up everywhere......
It looks like a child’s bedroom, but I’m not crying because of that....
I’m crying because I’m trapped in this world....
With a jester, a purple rabbit wearing pink overalls, a chess-piece king, a rag doll, a mask with ribbons, and a weird toy..... + a giant dental prosthesis with eyes....
Everything is weird....
I start crying.....
Suddenly, I hear a knock on the door....
Ragatha: Umm, Lili or Lulu, right?
Lili: Y-yes?? What do you want?
Ragatha: I wanted us to get to know you too...
I get up from the floor and open the door....
The others are there...
Lili: Oh..
The real world
Leeroy’s POV
I’m walking through the streets....
Wandering without any direction....
How long has it been....
Years since I ran away, hid in that building, ran away again, and now here I am, back on the streets....
Suddenly, I see a blonde girl wearing a green sweater... next to her is a girl with black hair dressed in emo clothes... both of them have pale skin.
Next to them is a guy who looks about thirty, overweight, with brown hair and dreadlocks...
Dark skin....
I walk closer so I can hear what they’re talking about....
Guy: Hey, Leah! We should go to Riley’s bar.
Blonde girl: Doug, why?!
Guy: To drink... What else do you think we’re going there for?
Girl with black hair: To pick someone up. That’s what Leah wants.
Bar? Drinking? Picking someone up?
Sounds good.
Guy: Come on, Lili... Leah... let’s go.
Blonde girl: Fine, let’s go.
The three of them head in another direction, toward the bar they were talking about....
I follow them from behind....
I pull my hood over my head and walk....
I stay a few meters behind them.
I don’t know why.
Maybe because I have nowhere else to go.
Maybe because that bar sounds better than continuing to wander around the city without a destination.
Or maybe because the girl with black hair catches my attention.
I don’t know.
She keeps her hands in the pockets of her hoodie and walks a little behind the other two.
She has short, messy black hair, with a red streak showing from underneath her hood.
She looks like the kind of person who wouldn’t want to talk to anyone.
I understand.
We arrive in front of a bar.
Above the door, in big letters, it says:
TRIANGLE BAR
Doug opens the door.
Doug: Come on, let’s go in!
Leah: If Riley kicks us out again, I’m not getting involved.
Lili: Riley isn’t going to kick us out.
Doug: That’s because she likes you.
Lili: Or because you’re annoying.
Doug: That too.
They all go inside.
I stay outside for a few seconds.
I look through the window.
Inside, there are several tables, colorful lights, and music playing pretty loudly.
It looks crowded.
I pull my hood further over my head.
Then I go inside.
When I open the door, the music gets even louder and I can smell alcohol...
I walk toward a table and sit down.
I see them...
A bigger table...
All three of them are laughing...
This girl....
Black hair.....
She’s cool...
I get up from my table and walk over to theirs...
Leeroy: Hey...
Lili: Uh... hey...
Leah: Hey..
Doug: Hey...
Leeroy: Can I sit here?
Leah: Sure, it’s a big table!
I sit down.
The bartender comes over to our table....
A woman with short, wavy brown hair...
She’s wearing a tank top and cargo pants..
She has tattoos...
A lot of them....
Riley: Hi, what would you like to drink today? Leah? Lili? Doug? And you, new guy?
The girl with black hair gets embarrassed when the bartender winks at her...
Weird...
Leah: Two beers for me and Doug, and a Sex on the Beach for Lili...
Riley: And the guy?
Leah: I don’t know him. He just sat down at our table...
Doug: Eh, leave him....
Lili: Hey!
Leah laughs.
Leah: What?
Lili: You could’ve let me choose.
Leah: I already know what you drink.
The girl with black hair sighs.
Lili: Fine...
The bartender writes down the order.
Then she looks at me.
Riley: And you?
I look at the menu.
Then at Riley.
Leeroy: A beer.
Riley: Good.
Doug: Simple.
Leeroy: What did you want me to order?
Doug: I don’t know. Something extravagant.
Leeroy: I’m at a bar, not a five-star restaurant.
Doug: Fair.
The bartender laughs.
Riley: So we have two beers, a Sex on the Beach, and another beer.
Leah: Yep.
The bartender closes her notebook.
Riley: Perfect. I’ll be right back with them.
She walks back toward the bar.
I watch her for a few seconds.
Then I look at the others.
Leah: Listen, dude.... The bartender is Riley, I’m Leah, he’s Doug, and she’s Lili.
Leeroy: Nice to meet you. I’m Leeroy Mateo.
Lili raises her eyes slightly.
Lili: Yeah.
Doug: That’s it?
Lili: What do you want me to say?
Doug: I don’t know. “Hi, I’m Lili, nice to meet you, mysterious guy in a hoodie.”
Lili: No.
Leah starts laughing.
Leah: See? I told you she’s quiet.
Leeroy: I noticed.
Lili looks at me for a few seconds.
Lili: And you don’t seem very talkative either.
Leeroy: Depends on who I’m talking to.
Lili: Then maybe we can both stay quiet.
Doug: This is the weirdest conversation I’ve heard today.
Leah: And it just started.
Leeroy smiles slightly.
I don’t know why, but this girl makes me curious.
She doesn’t talk much. She doesn’t try to impress anyone. She sits there with her hood pulled almost over her head, looking around like she’d rather be anywhere else.
But at the same time, she seems comfortable here.
Or at least she’s trying.
Riley comes back with the drinks.
Riley: Okay. Two beers.
She puts the beers in front of Leah and Doug.
Riley: A Sex on the Beach.
She puts the glass in front of Lili.
Riley: And a beer for the mysterious gentleman.
She puts my beer in front of me.
Leeroy: Thanks.
Riley: You’re welcome.
She winks at Lili before walking away.
Lili sighs.
Leeroy: Does she do that often?
Lili: What?
Leeroy: The wink.
Lili: At me?
Leeroy: Yeah.
Lili: Yeah.
Leeroy: And?
Lili: And what?
Leeroy: Nothing.
Lili takes her glass and drinks a little.
Leah: Lili, don’t pretend you didn’t notice.
Lili: I noticed.
Doug: And?
Lili: And what?
Doug: Do you like her?
Lili almost chokes.
Lili: Doug!
Doug starts laughing.
Doug: What? I asked!
Lili: It’s none of your business.
Leah: That means yes.
Lili: It means nothing.
Leeroy rests his elbow on the table.
Leeroy: Interesting.
Lili looks at him.
Lili: What’s interesting?
Leeroy: Nothing.
Lili: You smiled.
Leeroy: So?
Lili: Nothing.
Leeroy: Then we’re even.
For the first time, Lili smiles a little.
Very little.
But enough for me to notice.
Leah sees it too and raises an eyebrow.
Leah: Oho.
Lili: Shut up.
Leah: I didn’t say anything.
Lili: Exactly. And I want to keep it that way.
Doug: So, Leeroy, where are you from?
I freeze for a moment.
Leeroy: Nowhere.
Doug: That’s not a place.
Leeroy: It is for me.
Doug looks at me for a few seconds, then shrugs.
Doug: Okay.
Leah: Are you new around here?
Leeroy: Not really.
Leah: Do you have somewhere to stay?
Silence.
Leeroy: No.
Doug: Ah.
Leah looks at me.
Then at Lili.
Then back at me.
Leah: You can stay with us.
Lili immediately turns her head.
Lili: Leah...
Leah: What?
Lili: We don’t even trust him yet! And the other room is empty. There’s nothing there for him to sleep on!
Leah: Doug and I trust him. He can sleep on the couch until he gets a bed. And he can work with Doug doing deliveries.
Doug: Yeah. I need someone who can carry the heavier boxes.
Leeroy: I can do that.
Doug: Perfect. See? We already have a new employee.
Lili: You two make decisions way too quickly.
Leah: And you think too much.
Lili: Someone has to think.
Doug: Ouch.
Leah starts laughing.
Leeroy stays quiet for a few seconds, looking from Leah to Doug.
Leeroy: Are you sure?
Leah: Yes.
Leeroy: You don’t even know me.
Doug: You don’t know us either.
Leeroy: Fair.
Doug: Then it’s fair.
Lili raises her glass and takes another sip.
Lili: If he does anything weird, I’m kicking him out.
Leeroy looks at her.
Leeroy: You?
Lili: Me.
Leeroy: Why you?
Lili: Because you’ll be sleeping in the same house as me.
Leeroy: Ah.
Lili: And I don’t like having strangers in my house.
Leeroy: So I have to convince you that I’m not a weirdo.
Lili: I don’t think you can.
Leeroy: That sounds like a challenge.
Lili: It wasn’t.
Leeroy: Now it is.
Lili rolls her eyes.
Leah: You two are going to get along.
Lili and Leeroy, at the same time: No.
Doug bursts out laughing.
Doug: Yeah, sure.
Riley walks past the table and looks at them.
Riley: What did I miss?
Leah: I adopted Leeroy.
Riley stops.
Riley: Who?
Leeroy raises his hand.
Leeroy: Me.
Riley: Ah.
She looks at Leah.
Then Doug.
Then Lili.
Riley: And Lili agrees?
Lili: No.
Leah: She does.
Lili: I do not.
Riley: Then it’s perfect.
Lili: What do you mean, perfect?
Riley: It means you’re already a little attached.
Lili: I’m not attached.
Leeroy: Yet.
Lili turns toward him.
Lili: That doesn’t help.
Leeroy: I know.
Riley laughs and goes back to the bar.
In the Digital Circus

Lili’s POV
I was at the beach with everyone from the circus.....
It was so hot and scorching.....
I was lying on a towel under an umbrella....
Pomni came over to me....
Pomni: Wanna go in the water?
Lili: Okay....
I get up and step out from under the umbrella...
Lili: Why is it burning so much!!!!
Pomni: The sun....
We get into the water after crossing the scorching hot sand...
Pomni: How is it?
Lili: It’s nice..
I smile.
Lili: It’s not as bad as I thought... it’s actually really nice...
Timeskip
I was standing in front of Jax’s bedroom door....
Everything was strangely gray and messed up....
Caine had been erased....
We were actually the children of real people. Our minds were....
I wanted to enter his room....
He left too suddenly.....
Suddenly, I hear.....
