“You can light up everythin you touch, but never me”
“But never me.
But never me.”
“But never me.”
“Never me.”
“Never me”
“Me..”
“Me.”
Rouge always regretted saying those words to her man. Gambit always was the kindest man she ever met. Flirty, but kind. She never said it out loud, but she liked that about him. His last words to her response stung the most as well
“Some tings deeper den skin,Chere”.
And he was right. Those words, and that moment, were the last true words of love from the Cajun before he sacrificed himself in Genosha. Just friends..she didn't want to be just friends, she was lying to herself when she said she didn't love him back. She regretted going along with Eric. What was best for Genosha, wasn't best for her. Every waking moment she wished that it was all a bad dream,at any moment the Cajun would come up to her,ask “, What's wrong Chere?” and wrap her up in his strong arms, smelling like his cologne that always made her feel safe. But it never happened. And she would think it never will. And that eats Rouge up on the inside. She wished she told him she loved him. She should've let him in..but she ruined that chance. Now she'll pay that price
..
6 months later
Rouge was with the X-Men when a familiar face showed himself..and she couldn't believe it. It was impossible! Remy was dead! He was supposed to be resting in peace!
At least he should be,but Apocalypse brought him back. Of course he did! His sick twisted sense of morality decided to resurrect him from his grave and use him as an undead puppet. She and the others didn't want to fight their friend..their family..but what choice do they have if he's in his side. One by one,the others tried to contain him,get him to stop, but they were all dropped like flies until it was just her. She took this chance and slammed him into the wall, cupping her hand into his cheek. She was attempting to get him to remember her,to stop this madness and to come home. And perhaps start all over.
Remy,or death, Flinches at her touch slightly, but then immediately leans into her hand. His eyes were like a puppy’s that found love. He didn't even harm her at all. But before she had a chance to speak, she saw a vision of them dancing. Exactly like she imagined what it would have been like with Remy. But then death took his place and lit her up from the inside, killing her from the inside out. She gasped from the vision. Death must’ve realized what she saw,and started to back off. Even through death,Remy still cared about Rouge. And he didn't mean to hurt her. He couldn't control the visions he sends out. Rouge understood this. Instead of letting him flee like he wanted, she took him by the hand, touching his face again.
“You lit up everything you touched, but you finally lit me up.”
A small hint of a smile reached his lips, dyed shining with unshed tears. She can tell those words meant the world to him. And they meant everything to her also. She wanted to say them for so long. And now that she got the chance to,she won't ever take them back.
She finally got her second chance after all
