Work Text:

Leona sat in his dimly lit room. Usually, he would laze around after classes, however his boyfriend didn’t show up. So he decided to take “notes” for him. It was more of random ideas and formulas scribbled down, but it didn’t matter since he knew Idia was smart enough to figure it out.

He extended his arms in a stretch and glanced at the small clock on his desk. 10pm. It wasn’t late for Idia, but Leona thought it would be good to give him the notes before curfew. So Leona stood up and slipped on his loose pajama shirt, preparing to depart from his dorm. He grabbed the notebook and a small snack that had been sitting on his desk for a while, it couldn’t hurt to make sure Idia has eaten.

As Leona walked through the halls of Savanaclaw he listened closely to the sounds of the crickets that echoed through the dorm. Listening to the sounds Leona couldn’t help but remember the first time Idia stayed over at his dorm. When he made such a big deal out of something so simple as nature. It was known he was a shut in, but it’s not like he’s never experienced the outdoors? Tch, Leona hated to admit it but it was something he liked about the other. He treated everything like it was some big deal. Usually it would just be him comparing something simple like talking in front of people to performing to a whole stadium. But when he had those rare genuine reactions, thats what Leona lived for. When Leona would watch anime with Idia and listen to him talk about the plot for hours. Only because it wasn’t the anime he was interested in, but Idia himself.

The halls were empty at this time. Most dorms kept an expected curfew which some held stronger than others. Leona didn’t concern himself with how long his students were out for, as long as they weren’t causing problems in the process.

Even though Leona has seen the familiar halls empty plenty of times, tonight felt different. Like there was a tension that submerged the dorm. However, Leona chose to ignore the feeling, it wasn’t like anything horrible was going to happen just because of some gut feeling.

After stepping through the Savannaclaw mirror, he walked over to the Ignihyde entrance, but before he could go through his body paused. Something was telling him to go back to bed, but at the same time urging him to continue, as if his own mind was against itself.

Shaking off the odd feeling, he entered Ignihyde. The dorm had its usual luminescent glow, a few students were awake in the lounge but they seemed to be saying their goodbyes to each other. Leona made his way through the dorm with ease, every time they hung out it always had to be Leona coming to him. Which he didn’t mind, but it would be nice to see Idia comfortable in a space other than his own.

When he arrived to Idias dorm he expected to hear Premo music or Ortho talking to Idia, but it was quiet. Weird… Ortho must be with the other first years doing some “sleepover”. He noted to himself to ask Idia about that, he knew Idia could become detached without his brother.

Snapping out of his thoughts, Leona knocked on Idias door.

“Oi, Radish Sprout, you in there?”

Of course he was in there, but there was no response.

“You better open the door. I don’t appreciate being left outside.” He joked but after hearing a fault cry out the situation didn’t feel like a joke.

“Leona..? Hah… You can come in..” His voice sounded strained like he wasn’t all there.

Leona made no hesitation to swing open the door after that response, and there he saw it, a confusing and horrible.

His boyfriend, who was joking and sacking perfectly normal the other day, was now sitting on his bed with his arms practically drenched in blood. Leona was in such a state of shock to fully comprehend what he was seeing that he just stared at him.

“What…What the fuck?” His voice sounded worried but disgusted. He didn’t mean to sound rude but he’s never seen something so… horrid in his life.

“Can you…help…me..?” Idia muttered, sounding like he was on the verge of fainting.

A long pause followed before Leona finally regained the control he had before. “You wanna tell me what happened…here?” Leona entered the room and closed the door, setting down the notebook on Idia’s desk.

“I just got emotional that’s all.” Idia slowly laid back against his bed, hissing as his arms touched the mattress.

“Why are you being so calm about this? Sevens Idia, I can see your fat!” He gestures to his arms but avoided looking at them. He grabbed a rag and first aid kit kept in a cabinet that Idia used more of an extra table for ramen cups rather than actual storage.
Walking over to Idia he carefully lifted up his arm and gently patted the cuts with a wet rag. “I know you don’t wanna talk about it but I need you to tell be what caused this reaction.”

“I don’t want to graduate.” Idia said softly.

“I know.” Leona snapped open the first aid kit and took out an ointment. He squeezed out some onto his fingers and pressed it gently started to apply it around the cuts.

“I don’t want to be in charge of STYX,” He continued. “I wanna stay with you here. I just want to live like this. Doing what makes me comfortable in my room, I don’t want to experience life” his voice shook with pain.

Leona made eye contact for a split second before going back to treating the wounds. Listen, you’re not at STYX, are you? You’re right here where I can hold you. We’re together now, and we will always be together.” Leona took out a roll of bandage and slowly unraveled them.

“But-“

“No buts.” Leona cut him off, Placing a hand on his cheek to wipe the tears. “I’ll wrap your arm up, and don’t think I’m letting you get away with this. you’re going straight to the nurses office, end of story.” Leona’s serious expression earned a raspy chuckle from Idia. “What? these need to be looked at.”

“No, Its not that it’s just…” Idia smiled, not his usual cocky grin, but w genuine smile. “Thank you.”

Leona stilled, Idia was thanking him for doing the bare minimum, taking care of his boyfriend during his lowest times. “Anytime, Radish Sprout,” He said, “but this better not happen again, you hear me?” He lectured.

“Mhm, I get it.” Idia responded.

“Good.” Leona fastened the bandages with a small safety pin, making sure the arm was secure. When Idia moved, Leona pressed his hand on his chest, guiding him back to lying down. “Nope, you’re not movin yet.” He moved to sit next to Idia, carefully pulling him to hold him in his lap.

“I’m fine ya know.” Idia protested, but made no effort to remove himself from Leonas hold. In fact, he enjoyed it when Leona pressed soothing kisses to his forehead. Leona was the one person who made him feel loved. The one person he didn’t have to program to respect him. The one person who understood him, even when he wouldn’t talk.

Even if Leona wouldn’t be able to be with Idia forever, he would know that somewhere, there was someone who saw him in the night. Someone who would hear the crickets and think of him. So Leona will do everything in his power to make sure that he would be with Idia in those moments. Because he will never leave Idia. Never.
