Chapter Text

He hated it

He hated the fact that he was the worst at everything. And he had to accept that.

He tried to make friends at school, he was talkative, smart, kind, chill, caring, pretty much anything about him was good. So why did they still bully him?

He would never know about this. He should have forgotten about that since he graduated this year and a new school was on the way, while he should rest now during summer, especially since his parents were out of the country for a few weeks.

It reminded that of him because he lost a very big opportunity to get to know people from North America through Discord, all because his immature undeveloped brain couldnt hold his words and remain silent. He didnt know when he was being bossy to others or he didnt know he was forcing others to speak with his topics, and even after apologizing he felt guilty, and saw himself as a monstrosity that didnt even deserve to have a chance to exist.

He was permanently banned, taking away every bit of possibility to communicate with them, all because of him, his pride and his short-lasting excitment.

He closed the laptop, went to bed and let himself cry until he couldnt anymore, not even bothering to take off his shoes. He wanted to forget everything bad, knowing he had no one to talk to, because he wasted every opportunity.

Before he realized it he went to sleep.

Next thing he felt when waking up was cold metal under his cheek. He groaned and slowly sit up to get a better view of his surrondings.

It wasn't his bedroom.

In fact it didnt even look like Earth anymore.

But before he could ask more questions, he saw someone staring at him opposite of him on their knees.

They wore a red cloak that looked feminine and engulfed their entire upper body. They had two long horns protruding from their white mask, with pitch black eyes gazing straight at him, that were expressionless. He noted there was what looked like an oversized needle optimized for combat, and was the exact height of them, strapped to the top of the cage outside of reach.

But the thing was that all of that looked like a spider.

He was scared of insects and spiders.

Everyone he saw an insect he would dart out of the room in fear that it would sting him. Or if he saw even a spider the size of a finger he wouldnt enter the room it was in until someone came inside and killed it.

He sat there frozen, his gaze level with theirs.

"What creature are you supposed to be?" they finally spoke in English, the voice being strongly feminine and non-human.

"Are you a spider? Please tell me you're not" the human said, slightly trembling.

"I'm not the type to answer immediately, as I only reveal it to friends or bugs that I trust."

"Well, you look like one and I'm scared of them"

He now realized that the spider was very likely a female, as if her voice didnt give away.

"Anyways, what am I and you doing here? Because I can only tell you that I went to sleep and woke up here." He said it to her.

"I have been captured and taken from my kingdom against my will, but unsure where we are heading. The captors noticed your shell laying underneath the sand beforehand in a different place, and decided to stop the transport and lifted you into the very cage we both are in. The captors showed struggle when lifting you though." She answers the question.

"So why didn't you escape when they were putting me in?" He asked another question, his fear growing worse and worse to the point where he was starting to panic.

"The magic they cast upon me weakened to the point where it is difficult to maintain the gaze with you." She answered again, but notices the human is terrified of her "Will you please show no signs of horror at me?"

"No! I'm really scared of you guys! Just your appearance is making me panic! Please don't eat me, im not even grown up!" He yelled, trying to back away from her as he pushed his back against the bars and held his hands up to shield his face.

Curiosity got the better of her, and couldnt hold it for herself as she looked at his hands.

"Your claws....they look yielding and lack sharp points at the end. How do you manage not to get eaten by the predators? And what is your explanation regarding 'not even grown up'?"

"Those a-are hands, normal human hands. And i'm only fourteen which is considered a mi-"

"Human? What nonsense are you saying? No such bug exists." She cut him off.

"I'm a Human. We call ourselves Humans. We are not bugs, but rather mammals."

She stared at him, her mask titled in complete confusion.

But before he could ask anything, she suddenly started slowly reaching out her claw to him. He tried to scramble away from her, his back pressing against the bars so hard it was starting to leave marks on his skin. His shoes were squeaking from their rubber soles as they slid off while trying to make distance from her. But since he was trapped with a human-sized spider, he couldn't do anything. The human closed his eyes tightly and pressed his back with all his strength against the cage, completely frozen as he could hear her scrambling towards him on her knees and one claw, with the other one still reaching out to him.

Her claws were somehow similar in shape to that of a human, except they were pitch black, segmented chitin with razor sharp tips that could effortlesly tear the human's skin apart.

But she didn't do that.

Instead she started gently petting his hair as her claw finally made contact with him. Instantly she thought about how fluffy this is, which reminded her about the hivelings that were roaming around the hive without a care in the world, when she was visiting Queen Vespa to train back home. On breaks she would pet them, marvelling about the fluff since she was secretely obsessed about that, and this stranger had the same feeling of that.

"Your fluff.....it is so soft and delicate. It truly is pleasant to the feel." She said, her voice becoming slightly softer as she gently stroked his hair. One of the human's eye opened, showing blue color as he stared at her, completely paralyzed from the fear to the point where he held his breath.

"You're... You're not gonna kill me?"

"I see no reason as to do that," She answered, pulling her claw away as her voice returned to what it was before."your golden fluff is exceptional. But I have no knowledge about your kind, or even your name."

"I'm Oskar," he said, fixing his dirt blonde hair and temporarily abandoning his fear as he wanted to suddenly know more about the world he was in."And you?"

This might take a toll on us. She thought."I am Hornet."

But before they could speak, the cage suddenly stopped.

Oskar scrambled to the side of the cage and pressed his face against the bars.

They were standing on a rocky bridge connecting the place they edited from with a what looked to be like forest. Under the bridge was a very huge drop, which 100% would kill him.

He and Hornet both perked up at the white light above them. It was a Stark white butterfly emitting white light. As it drifted down it landed on the roof of the cage and settled there.

Suddenly, the floor of the cage lit up with an unrecognisable pattern.

"Hold something!" Hornet suddenly screamed as she was gaining energy from the butterfly. Suddenly multiple silk threads shot from her and wrapped around the bridge, before pulling them and crushing the bridge, sending the cage with them inside down into the drop.

Oskar screamed as he desperately held onto the bars, not letting them go. Hornet was being tumbled inside the cage before she slammed her body onto him, knocking him out as everything went dark.

This is my first time using ao3, so any feedback or tips will be appreciated and even used. I'm only making this because i think there is not enough humans in hollow knight world and most of them are unfinished or discontinued. Don't worry ill make sure it wont be the case with this one!
