Chapter Text
As the trees slowly but surely began to die and the air grew colder, it was starting to finally sink in for Regect that fall was coming up around again.
More specifically, college was coming up again soon.
He took a sip of his coffee, staring out of the café window at the fading green leaves swaying outside. The little café Moe had brought Regect to was warm and smelled faintly of cinnamon and espresso, but it did nothing to calm him down as he waited for the moment their schedules appear in the system.
“Honk honk honk honk honk honk?“ Why is it taking so long for them to get our schedules out this year? Moe asked, taking another sip of her own drink that he could only describe as a huge sugary mess put in a cup.
Regect let out a groan at the question, hands sliding down his invisible face. “God fucking dammit…” he grumbled, getting an offended honk from Moe that meant for him to watch his language along with jabbing his side.
“Ow— what is with you always resorting to violence? Can’t a man be irritated in peace?” he snapped, tail whipping behind him in annoyance.
Moe let out a giggle, “Honk? Honk honk honk, honk honk.” What? she said teasingly. I just don’t want you saying the lords name in vain, y’know.
“Whatever you say, Moe-nel-lah.” That earned annoth laugh from her, taking another sip of his drink in hope that the warmth would soothe his nerves.
Just then, a small ding sounded from the laptop in front of him and all train of thought was lost as he nearly choked and dropped his coffee in the rush of trying to open the minimized window to look at what the notification was, Moe following in suit.
“Moe— Moe, they’re up— LOOK RIGHT NOW—“ the entity rambled, refreshing the tab over and over as it buffered.
As the schedule finally popped up, Regect looked over it once, then twice, then a third time— just to be sure, before sighing in relief.
“Huh. Not too bad this year… How’s your schedule, Moe?” he asked, peering over the clowns shoulder to look at her laptop.
“Honk… honk honk, honk honk, honk. Honk honk!” We have… Student Government, Ceramics, and Math together. Not too bad!
Regect pumped his fist in the air. Three classes, when last year they didn’t even share one!
The conversation naturally drifted after that from the schedules, to the professors, then to random thinks about each others week as time slipped by way quicker than either of them realized.
About a few hours later, they finally departed after their very long goodbyes, their drinks cold and sun almost set by now.
Though, Regect was still dreading the new school year. As he always did. But, at least this year at least there was an up to it.
Him and Moe have three whole classes together.
Maybe this year wont be too bad, he thought.
“Ana, I really don’t give a damn what is on my schedule. Don’t force me to do this again.” Ze complained as his sister attempted to drag him out of bed by his ankles.
“It’s tradition for us to do this every year brother. You are not backing out of this, you fucking dumbass.” Ana shot back, letting out another grunt as she pulled again, harder this time, on his ankles, successfully pulling his body halfway off the bed.
“God,“ she muttered under her breath. “fatass.”
Ze stretched lazily and let out a loud sigh as he sat up the same moment Ana pulled, bringing them both on the ground, Ze pinning Ana on the ground.
“Ugh— get off of me!” she started squirming in his grasp.
“What? I didn’t even cause this to happen! You literally were trying to drag me off the bed?” Ze half-shouted, using his arms to block a punch Ana tried to throw underneath him.
Just as Ze was about to retaliate and send a jab of his own, footsteps made their way to Ze’s room as his other sister, Phoebe, walked through the threshold of the door looking look deeply unimpressed at the two.
“Seriously? I check to see what all the commotion is and this is what your fucking gay asses are doing?” she asked, crossing her arms.
“Not my fault—“
“YES IT FUCKING IS DIPSHIT.”
“NO IT ISN’T! IT WAS YOUR. FAULT.”
NO IT WASN’T. HOW MANY TIMES DO I—“ Ze was interrupted by the soft buzz of a notification coming from the other room.
“Schedule time!” Phoebe clapped her hands together. “You joining us or not Zeebee?”
“If you stop calling me that nickname, then sure.” he said, unceremoniously getting off of Ana and smoothing out his clothes while Ana found her way up on her feet as well.
“Welp, it’s a deal then. Let’s go you two.” Phoebe responded, walking out of the room before they could respond and back to Ze’s kitchen.
“After this, square the fuck up. I want a rematch thats fair.” Ana said, looking at him with playful annoyance.
“Sure, whatever ya say sis.” he chuckled.
He hadn’t expected to get any classes with either of his siblings—they were in separate grades and completely different majors, after all. And unfortunately this year, he was right.
“I’m gonna die of boredom without you guys…” Phoebe complained dramatically, “Where will I find low budget drama now?”
“You bitch.” Ze said, elbowing her shoulder lightly.
“You love us though~” Ana teased, slinging an arm around Ze.
“Ok, fuck you guys— just for that shit i’m enrolling into random housing this year.”
Phoebe and Ana looked at each other in a way that practically screamed “sure, you do that.” before bursting out loud into full on laughter simultaneously.
“Man— you couldn’t do it,” Phoebe wheezed. “You— you wouldn’t be able to last a whole year with a bunch of strangers—“ she managed to mutter out as she laughed.
“Owuhhh— Fuck fuck fuck, my stomach… ow… my stomach..” Ana cried out in pain, clutching her stomach as she let out empty huffs of air which Ze assumed was supposed to be laughter, Phoebe doubling over at this, still letting out weak chuckles.
“Dude.” Ze stared at them before continuing, “What the fuck was even funny? What the hell??” he was completely bewildered on this reaction to something so small, though a huge smile creeped on his face as they laughed even more.
“I CAN’T BREATHE—“
