The untold tenderness of Jean grey and Peter Parker

Summary:

Peter Parker and Jean Grey visit a different state hoping to improve their current mental state and bond over grief, self-love, isolation, depression and discrimination. This story takes place more or less 2 weeks after the events of brand new day and is my first fic ever kinda short but I think I have some ideas for a continuation, enjoy :)

Work Text:

Peter, suited up sitting on a NYC rooftop on duty, still feels the sniper bullet like it is still inside of him, a reminder of pain perhaps? Or does the bullet symbolize the sacrifices Peter/Spidey makes for the people he cares for, and in this case for a specific, very odd and special person… Jean.
Jean sits in an old apartment, a quick rental she managed to find from a random old couple (even without having to use mind control). After what she did in New York, after Peter, Jean needed some distance, at least that is what she thought. So she got on a bus and just went wherever the universe took her, no plan, no destiny…. freedom perhaps?
In NYC Spidey stops robbers, thieves, burglars being the immovable object to the unstoppable force that is crime, always quipping, always playing with them making them feel humiliated. That is Spider-man’s charm and what separates him from other heroes… Peter really is a tender, kind and warm person. Spider-Man after another long, seemingly endless day of fighting crime falls into his small busted-up bed and takes off the mask allowing himself to be Peter once again, and suddenly a message on his phone appears… it is Jean…. Jean the girl who has no one.
Jean had given Peter her number shortly after the New York incident, in hopes of someday getting in touch with him as he really can serve as a comforting force to her. Now, Jean Grey finally decided to contact Peter and sent a simple “hey, I need you” as she realized life in a lonely room is not real peace for her. She does not need distance, she needs Peter.
Peter visits Jean, following the address she later told him by text and ends up on a rooftop in LA where Jean sits alone, Peter was skeptical about leaving NYC without Spider-Man but he knows he needs to show up for Jean, after all he told her she has him.
“Hey… I’m here Jean, quite a long trip huh.” Peter says, offering a cute and sympathetic smile.
“Hey, look I'm sorry I know how hard it must have been leaving your city behind… Just for me but I really really need you Peter.” Says Jean trying to smile and it’s visible the comforting effect Peter’s mere presence has on her body. “I guess you realized it isn’t easy going through all this alone huh?” Peter chuckles making the room seem “lighter” so she is more comfortable. “I guess I have been thinking about what your.. your aunt said and I guess I feel like I’m starting to doubt it… I don’t think I deserve what she said. Those words are for you Peter, I thin-” Peter interrupts Jean with a soft concerned look “Jean those words are for whomever need them most, you needed those words and I needed to see you take in those words and now i need you to really really get them in your mind Jean your so special, a special girl my special girl” Jean hears this and blushes deeply she feels her skin burning she feels happy… alive. With a swift move Jean moves into the space between her and Pete and they both close their eyes and the magic happens. Finally the tender connection melts into a passionate kiss as they are not just feeling each other, they are embracing the opportunity of going past the guilt and the self-hate and feeling like they don’t deserve love and finally live without the mental barrier of the isolation they suffer for being special and all the days of feeling like shit because of this feeling lonely: surviving and not living. With that newly-found freedom Jean Elaine Grey and Peter Benjamin Parker stare at each other and smile… they might love each other, at least they live for each other.
