Chapter 1: The mission

Chapter Text

“Nozomii” Dazai whined.
“Why do we have to listen to what that slimy doctor says? Why do we have to go to a school for wizards? If it's anything like abilities I’ll just nullify everything before I do a spell” he whined pouting as Nozomi wrapped new clean bandages on his wounds.

“Come on Osamu don’t be like that, I personally am excited at a change in scenery. Can you even imagine us going to school in England!” Nozomi said excitedly maybe a bit to excited.

“Ughhh you only say that because you love foreign countries…”Dazai said throwing himself on the bed after Nozomi finished bandaging his wounds.

“True but can you imagine magic, actual magic I’ve seen it before when I was younger but I scraped the idea of it being magic but now ohhhh I’m so excited!”

Dazai couldn’t help but smile despite the Mafias souls sucking ways, when he was with his sister he could be a child. Although he wondered how his sister managed to keep herself from loosing hope for life like him. He couldn’t understand her even though he understood her the most. “Just don’t let Mori catch you being all smiling or else he’ll probably take you off the mission.”

“I know you don’t have to tell me twice.” She sighed. “ Let’s get back to helping you study English after all school isn’t to far away.”

“Ughh fine it isn’t fair though you clearly have the advantage in this,” Dazai said sitting up from the bed. “ Your job is literally foreign relations you know multiple languages already this is clearly a way to make yourself feel superior, yep that’s it.” Dazai said whining which only caused Nozomi to chuckle.

“Oh cut the crap you know damn well you can master English before school starts,” she said throwing him his books which he easily caught.

“Well true it isn’t that hard but-“

“Yea yea just read Mori should be arriving soon we wouldn’t want him to catch us slacking would we,” she interrupted.

“Fine,” Dazai ultimately agreed opening his book and reading it while laying on his bed.

Twenty minutes passed and a knock on the door was heard before the door opened revealing a tall slender man with chin length black hair. “Aw how are my two favorite prodigies? I do hope you finished your research on Hogwarts,” Morí said walking in.

Before Dazai could speak, Nozomi handed a report on their research without saying a word.

“Ah thank you Fumiko-chan~ you are always so organized,” Mori said grabbing the report.

“If I’m going by Dazai Nozomi you better call me that. We do not want to cause a slip up when the guest arrives, do we?” She said in a dry unamused tone never looking up from her book.

“Ehhh but Fumiko is so much cuter isn’t that right Shuji~?”

“Don’t bring me into this conversation and don’t call me that,” Dazai said in an prickly tone.

“Must you be so feisty,” Mori sighed. “What can I do both my prodigies are ganging up on me…” he said faking a tear wipe.

“Surely you didn’t come just for this?” Nozomi spoke ever so uninterested. Dazai could only think how his sister was so good at driving the excitement she had earlier away.

“Of course not I came to inform you that our guests will be arriving sooner than I anticipated,” Mori said standing up straight.

“Let me guess they arrive in three days,” Nozomi said looking up from her book. By now Dazai decided to put his book down and listen in on the conversation.

“Yep correct as always Nozomi~ your guesses are always on point!” He said jokingly clapping.

“It was so obvious with our time frame from here till school arrives,” Dazai finally joining the conversation.

Mori sighed, “I will never understand how your guys brain work, your father was lucky with two geniuses.”

“Speaking of Father what did he say about the mission? I don’t expect him to be happy with us being away.” Nozomi said finally putting her book down.

“Oh don’t worry about the boss he’s on board with the mission for the most part,” he said scratching his head.

Nozomi and Dazai only nodded not bothering to ask anything. After talking about the mission a bit, mostly Dazai trying to figure out what the heck was the point in going to a wizarding school, Mori left to return back to work. This left both Nozomi and Dazai in the room with nothing to do since they both were excused from working under the excuse of preparing for a long important mission but it’s not like anyone dared mquestion what they did anyway.

“Oneesan can we do something else I don’t want to study,”Dazai complained.

“We can make dinner?”

“Ughhh I don’t feel like eating”

“I’ll make you canned crab? What do you Samu?” She said grabbing his hands and giving him puppy eyes. Even though physical contact made Dazai feel uncomfortable being held by his sister was different definitely something a mafioso should be feeling but he liked it.

“Okay but don’t expect me to eat a lot,” he said pouting.

“Yippee help me set up the table while I cook?” Nozomi said getting up.

“Okayy,” Dazai said following behind. A thirteen year old should definitely not be in charge of cooking for herself and her eleven year old brother but it was a way of life they had grown accustomed to so they didn’t mind who needed parents when they had each other.

“I can’t stand that slimy doctor it’s a good thing he isn’t staying over tonight,” Dazai said.

“You’re right about that I don’t understand why father keeps him around but oh well he serves his purpose. Oh don’t forget we have to start referring to Mori as our father once this mission starts.”

“No don’t remind me the thought of calling him father makes me want to throw up,” Dazai dramatically gagged causing Nozomi to chuckle.

They ate while talking about missions they finished the week prior. The punishments they got from father and the anticipation they were both getting about their long mission. They could only wait for when their guests arrive from three days time.
