So here I am dipping my toes in a new Fandom. Almost done with season 3 and this idea hit me so here we are. I have no idea if I will ever post another Babylon 5 fic only time will tell. I also have no clue if this kind of things is normal or not, every Fandom is different. The time line is a bit off but since it's a fic, and not a super serious one at that, I am not too bothered by that.
WarNinGs: Fluff, Sick Fic, A Bit Of Introspection, Frist time Posting Something In This Fandom.

“'Cause I know in the end it's worthwhile
That the pain that I feel slowly fades away
it will be all right...”
From 'Pale' by Evanescence, way sadder song then this fic but I was listening to it and decided to use part of it.

“Ah, just who I wanted to see,” Doctor Franklin greeted looking up with a grin.
Delenn blinked surprised but pleased to see the often overworked man in high spirits. Smiling in greeting she glanced around, everything seemed in order. “If you had need of me doctor you could have simply called.”
Franklin chuckled, the Minbari ambassador had always been one of his most pleasant patients. “It is more of a personal favor.”
Nodding Delenn folded her hands before her, “By all means how can I be of service?”
“As you know a bug is going around,” Delenn frowned slightly at the use of bug but nodded for him to go on. “So far it has only hit the human population, and those affected are down for 3-5 days and do not seem to get it again. A lucky break seeing as this station is run by humans.” Franklin frowned before shaking his head, “I am still trying to prove this was some sort of deliberate move, illnesses tend to be more chaotic.” Delenn frowned not looking pleased with the implications either. “I want you to look after our esteemed captain.”
“John?” Delenn asked titling her head. “Is he sick?” She frowned trying to think if anything had seemed a miss when last they had spoken, he had seemed well if not in need of a good night's sleep. That was hardly out of the norm for many of those running the station let alone fighting the semi-secrete war.
Franklin smiled at her reaction, “So far he is one of the few command staff that hasn't been hit but that has more to due with him having been away from his usual haunts then luck.”
Delenn looked down at the good doctor's gentle teasing, John had been spending his time on the White Star learning more about 'her' since he had been surprised by the new ship. She had been pleased at his reaction to his new warship as he had not even bothered to hide his reactions to all he was shown. It was somewhat fitting the Star Killer now commanded a Star that had already slain a Shadow. It had been her hope that the only human captain to ever survive combat with the Minbari fleet would be the right one to lead their joint fleet in the upcoming war and he had proven how right she had been the first time he had taken command. At first she had been concerned with the Star Killer being placed as the commander of Babylon 5, a concern their first meeting had helped with. Since then her faith in him had been rewarded time and time again. “He has been very...dedicated to learning about his new haunt as you may call it.”
Chuckling at that Franklin nodded, “It will be soon enough I'm sure. With him back on the station it is only a matter of time before he goes down and I would prefer he not collapse in command like Susan.”
“She is most dedicated and also lighter than he is,” Delenn agreed with a knowing smile, the pair were both about as stubborn. Watching the two of them could be fascinating, it became clear rather quickly why they were a formidable pair.
“Very true,” Franklin had been grateful Susan had only been sick for 3 days, and not just for the station's sake.
Amused smile still on her lips Delenn bowed her head, “I will see to John. Getting him out of command will be easy enough as we have much to discuss that would be better done in private...or at least until this illness is no longer an issue.”
“It's always something around here,” Franklin walked to his desk before returning with a small case. “It presents like a normal cold, at least for humans. This has any medicine you'll need for fever, coughs, what have you just follow the instructions on the labels.” Delenn took the case with a dutiful nod. “I crossed referenced typical Minbari treatments for similar illness and nothing seemed to have a negative reaction so if it is safe for you it should be safe for him.”
Touched Delenn smiled, “Very considerate of you doctor.”
“Well there is no grantee you won't get sick as well seeing as you are part human now but I also know how important traditions are to you and mental well being is also important for recovering.” Franklin was fine with prayers along with proper medical care, if some god wanted to offer a helping hand when he needed the luck he was all for it but he would not bet on it.
Bowing her head once more Delenn was grateful to the universe for providing this station with such an understanding head of medicine. “I will remain in John's quarters, if I need anything I can simply call on Lenneir.”
“If only all my patients were so reasonable,” Franklin gently teased. “If you need anything call, you and John are too important to our side to risk anything happening to if it can be avoided.”
“I shall call if what you have already provided proves inadequate, as unlikely as that is of occurring.” Delenn promised before turning and walking out the doors. She had a good idea where John was and she could easily call Lenneir on her way.

Delenn smiled slightly when she saw John talking to Susan off to the side and out of the way. They both appeared calm so she assumed it was not a stressful conversation, no doubt an update on what he might have missed. Walking slowly up to the pair she smiled at Susan in greeting who gave a slight smile and nod back. John must have noticed, or maybe he sensed her, because he turned and graced her with a wider smile reminding her of their first meeting. She had not expected such a greeting from the infamous Star Killer but it had been welcomed. “Am I interrupting?”
“N-no I was just getting an update...what do you need Delenn?” John asked curious if she needed something or was just checking in. Delenn and Susan were also friends so it was not impossible Delenn was simply worried about her other human friends while away.
“If you are not needed there are few things we did not talk about while we were away.” Delenn answered, not really concerned if he took that to mean the upcoming war or something more personal. As long as he followed her all would be well.
John frowned before turning to Susan, she made a shooing motion and he gave her a mocking hurt look before turning back to Delenn. “Seems I'm free for the moment.”
Nodding Delenn caught Susan grinning, it was pleasing to see her in a playful mood. “Then a moment will be enough.”
“Call if you need me,” John instructed knowing Susan would only interrupt for a real emergency, she was his second for many damn good reasons and that was one of them.
“Don't hold your breath,” Susan deadpanned, getting John to look over his shoulder, “Sir.”
“Noted,” John replied, turning to follow Delenn out wondering if she had a new toy in the case she was holding to go with his new ship. The ambassador had been surprising him since the moment he met her and he was pleasantly surprised most of the time. Taking her calm demeanor as a sign he was not in for an unpleasant talk he walked at her side silently.

Delenn walked into the captain’s quarters thinking back on the last time she had been in this room. His distress had made her heart ache for him, her words of comfort had also been for herself. His reaction to her touch made her want to stay at his side but her calling demanded she leave him and when he called her name she had to stop. Unable to say a word she had fled. When next she saw him he had gently taken her arms and moved them and she had taken his invitation to touch his face assuring herself he was real before he took her in his arms as she repeated his name to ground herself. He was here, he was real, he would hold her as she finally allowed herself to feel all that pain.
Turning she watched him walk past her to grab a blue bottle like she had seen that day. “Our good doctor told me what has been 'going around' as you humans say.” John nodded as he swallowed. “He is concerned it has not fully run its course.”
Setting the bottle down John sighed, “I'm just glad it's a cold and nothing more serious this time.”
Nodding Delenn was more than happy to not talk about the last time just then. As much as she treasured being asked to call John by his first name, a sigh of closeness among humans, she would have preferred waiting a bit longer and sparring them both so much pain. “How are you feeling?”
John frowned as he walked back up to Delenn, “Still processing everything I learned on the White Star...wait is he worried I’m sick?” It was just like the doctor to send Delenn to get him to relax and he could not even pretend to be mad about it for long.
“He is worried you will become so yes,” Delenn answered, reaching out and taking his hand. “As am I.”
“Delenn,” John started to protest before sighing, it was hard to assure her he'd be fine when she was looking at him like that. “You don't have to worry about me.”
“I am aware yet I have chosen to.” John's hand was warm, a bit warmer than it normally was and she wondered if there was a reason for it beyond he may have a slight fever. Delenn was aware humans were warmer to the touch than Minbari but she was not aware of every change in them. Her own body sometimes felt warmer when she felt certain things and she was sure that was not a solely female trait.
“Well lucky for you I happen to like strong will women who don't tend to fuss.” John had never really enjoyed being fussed over but a few people could get away with it. He was not sure Delenn would exactly fuss but her concern was touching.
Delenn smiled at that, the women she had seen John positivity interact with did seem to fit what humans called strong willed, she assumed his late wife had been much the same. The thought of that loss made her look away. Was it her place to be here now? She was a friend, he had held her more than once, trusted her like Jeff had before him. When he made a soft sound she had come to associate with discomfort she looked back up unsure if she had done something. He had removed his uniform jacket and had unbuttoned his collar but did not seem upset with her presence. “John?”
“hm?” John hummed before looking up, frowning at Delenn's concerned expression. “Sorry zoned there for a sec, did you say something?”
Taking a step forward Delenn reached up, delicate looking fingers resting on warm skin frowning, “Your skin is very warm.”
“Is it?” Eyes closed as she stroked his cheek, she really seemed to like doing that and he wondered if that was some Minbari thing. For all he knew she could be reading his emotions rather than his mind, not that he was all that concerned about it. It was not like he bothered keeping up a poker face around her most of the time anyway.
Watching John's face Delenn frowned, he was too warm for just standing there calmly and he seemed distracted. Lowering her hand to his shoulder she gently pushed, “Perhaps we should continue talking sitting down?”
John looked down when he felt a gentle push against his shoulder, considering Delenn's suggestion for all of two seconds before nodding. His nod seemed to please her as she lead him to his bed before pushing down on his shoulders in a silent order to sit. Sitting he sighed, it felt good to get off his feet he must have been more in need of sleep then he thought. “Delenn.”
“Be still,” Delenn ordered with firm gentleness, getting a blink but no argument. Studying John's face once more she was now sure there was something wrong. He seemed to be suffering more like one who was in need of sleep then one in pain and she was relived. She knew he would only get worst but perhaps he would not suffer much. When he frowned at her she gave him a reassuring smile before pressing gently on his shoulders, “Lay down.”
“Delenn,” John protested, he felt he should be doing something but for the life of him he could not remember what.
“We can talk of serious matters laying down as easily as sitting up,” Deleon reminded her stubborn friend with a touch of her commanding tone. John frowned at her for a moment but laid down without further protest. Nodding she knelt down to remove his shoes before setting them down out of the way. Slipping her own off she set them beside his before sitting down on the bed. Human beds were still odd to her but she had to admit this one was rather comfortable. Turning to look over her shoulder she smiled down at John. He was looking up at her perfectly calm and that level of trust from a human let alone one who had fought her people as he had was gratifying. She liked to think if Jeff was here now he would also have been as complaint to her wishes, another man who had every right to be bitter and cold towards her. Turning she reached down and played with John's bangs, his hair was longer than it had been when she had first met him and she found it charming. “Much better.”
John watched Delenn smile at him not sure what she was thinking but that was nothing new for him. He often felt as if he had no clue what she thinking or feeling or he could read her like a book with almost no moments in between. Odd as it might seem it was a comfort as he felt less confused by her over time. They were of different worlds so there would always be moments, Hell humans didn't always get each other, but it was nice to been seen and understood rather then judged. Being judged was a feeling he knew well, came with the uniform, rank, being the head of this station, so many things really. At Delenn's soft gentle teasing he smiled, closing his eyes for a moment, “You tend to be right.”
Smiling a bit wider at John's replay she felt her cheeks warm, pride could be a dangerous thing the Religious cast was well aware of this. John had much to be prideful of yet he did not 'lord' his rank over those below him. He surrounded himself with like minded people and trusted them to do what they needed to do, always ready to step in and protect them from foolish politician or whoever else tried to get in their way. She too tried to always do what was required for the greater good, she had passed Kosh's test proving she had been walking the right path she simply had remain on it. A path that was easier to walk with a human of his race's Warrior cast at her side. At times moving to be her sword before her or a ready shield behind her as she used her skills and influence to aid him as he needed in turn. Sitting here watching him weaken and vulnerable and not even hesitating to put himself at her mercy spoke louder and truer than any words could. She knew she would do the same in an instant, that she was safer with this former enemy than some current so called allies. “Like Susan?”
“You're a bit more optimistic but since you're not Russian she'd say nobody’s perfect.” John teased grinning, Susan had liked Delenn early on as he understood it. It made sense to him since Delenn had always been less of a headache than the other ambassadors if nothing else. He had seen images and video of her before her transformation, it wasn't hard. She had a brighter smile now, or maybe he just had no proof of it from before, her eyes still shown like stars when she smiled.
Laughing softly at that Delenn stroked John's face, please he was warm but not so much he was in need of some medicine. “Some are closer than I others I should think.” John hummed at that drawing a soft smile as fingers stroked his skin. Delenn was unsure how sick John may become but for now he did not seem to be suffering in the least. Watching him drift off she continued what she had heard teasing called petting him until she was sure he would not wake easily. Content she stood and removed her outer robe, moving to lay it over the back of the couch before she walked back to the bed. Debating for a long moment she closed her eyes before joining John in bed. He remained still as she shifted closer to him, something that had been imposable aboard the White Star. Laying her head on his shoulder she remained still for a moment unsure if what was left of her crest was uncomfortable at all to John.
When he did not react she sighed softly, shifting so she was tucked into his side, strong heartbeat a soft constant in her ear. Comforted by the sound she closed her eyes, opening them when John shifted slightly, head turning towards her. Hearing a soft content sigh she relaxed and closed her own eyes once more. Strange as it was to lay like this she easily understood the appeal. The solid warmth of the one you love at your side, the sound of their soft breathing and/or their beating heart a soothing constant. Yes she could get used to sleeping like this, with this man, oh so easily. Allowing herself to drift off she knew she would wake instantly if he got worst and needed her, for now she hoped being close was enough to heal his ills. Even if just for as long as he could sleep this night.

As I said this is my first time doing anything with this Fandom and it may be the last. My Muses can be very finicky but who knows what they may come up with past season 3 let alone rewatching 2-3. Feel free to leave your thoughts before you go. If you like this work you may like something else I have posted. If not then God be between you and harm in all the empty places where you must walk.
