Work Text:
So, so useless.
So weak. So vile.
What happened to the person you once were?
The fun, affectionate woman. The person full of life and hope. Full of dreams and with a bright future ahead. The person who smiled and had all their loved ones clinging to them.
That's where everything went wrong. Where everything fell apart; they are no longer here.
They left, and the light with them.
You made them leave.
You lost your wool disguise, and let your true self out.
While they were scared, you finished them off with your fangs. You killed them with your claws. There's nobody left. Only you. The killer. The Wolf. The crazy monster that is dripping blood from the jaw.
And her.
Your Sophie. Oh Sophie. Your beautiful little girl. Your little princess. Your first angel.
Now, she's the only one you have left. The only angel locked out of heaven. The only one you didn't kill.
You should hold her in your arms. Keep her warm and safe under your weight. Protect her from the world, because she is, and always will be, your little girl, and you, her guardian.
Then, why aren't you with her? Why did you leave her?
Oh, right. You left her alone. You abandoned her. You made her feel bad. You hurt her. Over and over again, your own loved one. You bit her.
You've lost everything, but so has she. You're all she has. Her only safe place.
Or you were. After making her cry and back away, afraid of you, you're not anymore.
You're horrible. Crazy. Cruel. Useless. There's no point in your existence anymore. You only bring sadness and pain to everyone.
You killed everyone. You already knew that. What you hadn't realized was that you had also killed yourself.
The person you once were would not have treated Sophie like that. That person wouldn't have yelled at her. They wouldn't have pushed her away and made her worry. That person wouldn't have made her eyes fill with tears.
The sheep had taken good care of her lambs. That sheep would not have given all the responsibility to their little girl.
But that's what you did, because you're no longer a prey.
When was the last time you took care of her, and not her of you?
When was the last time she spoke to you with excitement about something? When was the last time you truly listened to what she was saying?
When was the last time you paid attention to her?
Oh, your poor girl. You've neglected her a lot, haven't you? So caught up in your own mind, in your own body, that you can't take care of your baby.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
But there's not much those words can fix. Your happy world is gone, and you tore apart what little remained of your daughter's.
Even now, as you stare at that horrible water that took everything from you, the temptation to collapse forward doesn't go away.
Sophie doesn't need someone like you in her life. She doesn't need someone who hurts her. She doesn't need you. Not anymore.
You're no use to her. You're no use to anyone. Jobless, penniless, heartless, and lifeless in your eyes. Is there anything you could possibly give her?
...
You.
Just...you.
What a horrible punishment.
Sophie doesn't deserve that.
...
But who are you to decide what she wants?
Perhaps you don't know her as well anymore, but.
But you know, inside your horrible mind, that she still needs you.
That she still wants you in her life, despite everything.
Your legs move backward.
You don't want to live.
But until your own little lamb decides she doesn't need you anymore, you'll stay.
Just a little more.
Until she leaves.
Like everyone else did.
She deserves more than you, you know that.
But what can you do about it?
She is a little lamb. She doesn't know what the wolf will do to her. She just wants someone to protect her. Even if it's not the right person.
And after so much killing, the wolf has a full stomach.
Everything will work, until the wolf's hunger returns.
Perhaps the wolf will become the sheep she once was.
Or perhaps the little lamb will imitate its mother and become a little wolf.
Only time will tell.
