Mirror of a Mirror World

Summary:

It was like a mirror had suddenly shattered into pieces around him, a kaleidoscope surrounding him and cutting him into tiny little pieces of an infinite amount and thrown to all parts of the universe to become nothing yet everything as well, permeating every single surface and history and species out there. Becoming one with everything everywhere and slotting into place with all worlds and times so seamlessly it was like he was always part of that landscape and not an outsider pasted onto the painting.

AKA

Izuku gets The Sign and gets identity issues from it

Notes:

Just giving PM fanfictioning a try, Iori and the others might be ooc because I haven't played Ruina but still!!

Chapter 1: PROLOGUE

Chapter Text

Izuku blinked, staring out at the window facing the street outside Aldera Middle School, his face one of complete and utter befuddlement.

You see, a few minutes ago, Izuku’s teacher decided that it would be a good idea to reveal to everyone in the classroom that he had decided he would apply for UA’s hero course, which of course, drew Kacchan’s ire, which lead to now, where he had burnt and thrown his notebook out the window after he made fun of him and threatened to push him out the window as well.

Well, it could’ve gone worse, like being told to kill himself or something.

That wasn’t the point anyway!

The point was that the second Kacchan left the classroom, his notebook just- flew up from the ground and was currently at eye level with him.

Scratch that, it wouldn’t be fair to say it just flew up, someone was carrying it, a boy that seemed two years older than him at most, with a flowing ridiculously long blue scarf, and some sort of tattoo on his forehead that lit up the entire classroom in a red light.

The boy held his hand out with a smile, offering the notebook back to Izuku “This yours?”

Izuku just stood there like a gaping fish, staring into the boy’s blue eyes that seemed to bring him in closer and closer.

Now typically, he would’ve thanked the boy a lot and started gushing about his perceived levitation quirk.

If it weren’t for the fact that the notebook was completely pristine, completely and entirely in perfect condition, not a burn mark, not a drop from the koi pond it fell into, hell, that stain of coffee on the cover of it from a week ago was also gone!

“U-uh uhm, THANK YOU!” He finally choked out, wrenching his eyes away from the boy as he grasped the notebook and looked at the pages, rapidly skimming through them to find any and all imperfections gone. “W-what the-”

“I took care of that for you, don’t worry about it” the boy said with a soft smile, before disappearing into a PORTAL.

“...What?”

The rush of natural lighting coming back into the room nearly blinded him, the sun hitting him square in the eye and making him drop his notebook to cover his eyes and stop the burning of his eyes.

It fell back into the pond, and this time, no magic boy came over to pick it up.

He had genuinely forgotten how he was basically leaning over the window.

Izuku sighed, accepting his fate at having to transfer his notes to another notebook.

At least he had some money to buy a new one, but most of it had been centered on paying his classmates for physical protection against Kacchan and also to pay for the apartment because his landlord stopped pitying him the second she found out he was “quirkless”, so he had to pay now.

He missed his mom.

As he walked down the stairs, he began theorizing on the boy who helped him earlier, was his quirk spatial manipulation of some sorts? It would make sense based on everything he saw, levitation, portals, getting rid of stuff, it all was placed neatly there, but such quirk would’ve made the news by now, in some way shape or form with how lax he seemed using it.

Leaving the school, he stared at the blinding sun once again, and it reminded him of something weird about that boy.

He had no heat signature.

Sure, people may think Izuku was quirkless, but he knew he wasn’t, he had infrared light vision, a quirk fairly easy to prove, but the world would just bend itself backwards to convince everyone else he was quirkless.

Showing it off by noticing small differences in temperature not noticeable by sight? The wind made the other one colder when they touched to prove it. Tell people if they had a fever? Wowie looks like somebody’s immune system is now magical.

It was… annoying, and led to his mother’s death.

But back to the weird boy, he didn’t emit heat at all, it was like a void, shaped like a man, was he able to manipulate heat as well as space?

He finally reached the koi pond, staring at the fish happily swimming around and enjoying the food given to them earlier the day.

The menu today apparently included his notebook.

He reached down to grab his notebook, shooing the koi away.

“Stupid fish, that’s not food-”

CRACK

It was like a mirror had suddenly shattered into pieces around him, a kaleidoscope surrounding him and cutting him into tiny little pieces of an infinite amount and thrown to all parts of the universe to become nothing yet everything as well, permeating every single surface and history and species out there. Becoming one with everything everywhere and slotting into place with all worlds and times so seamlessly it was like he was always part of that landscape and not an outsider pasted onto the painting.

A constant.

The world’s will was searching for a constant in this boy’s life, a way to anchor him into being one self across different worlds and realities, what was the same in every world, something this child always used? Something every universe knew about him.

The answer lay in his hands, the notebook holding the child’s dreams and incredible analysis capabilities, not the best by a long shot, but with some nurturing, he could become a mastermind in anything he set his mind to.

Possibilities opened up before the fragmented eyes, mirror shards showing off different futures putting that wonderful mind to use.

Doesn’t matter what he chooses to do or be, that notebook will chase him until the end of times and keep him as the same being, shall he lose this notebook he shall be known as a different person and uncontactable by him and those in the same way.

Space and time bent over backwards to make sure the sad reality of his home world shall never be repeated, he shall never be known as an outcast pariah for his loss at the genetic lottery.

He will change, and the world’ll change with him.

CRACK

He blinked, looking around confused, what was that noise?

“Did you hear anything, stupid fish?” He asked the fish he was visibly struggling to get off his notebook.

If only he had a quirk, he would’ve sent the bastard flying all the way to the bottom of the pond and by good measure boiled the damn thing.

“Come on!! I just wanna go home to my mom!”

It then seemed that finally, the koi reluctantly let go of his notebook.

He picked it up, looking at the charred, stained, half-eaten, and soaked notebook.

“Come on man!” He whined, already dreading having to guess what anything in the pages meant and having to rewrite stuff.

It would be a good distraction of Kacchan telling him to kill himself though.
