(Chapter 1 (feeling alone in a room of laughter)
The ninja had gotten back from Imperium yesterday, it was hour before would start, since yesterday was the big battle, they all just kinda slept immediately when they got home, except for Sora, she had trouble sleeping after yesterday’s interaction with her parents
Zane was already starting to cook up noodles for dinner,
While Lloyd and Nya were getting the table ready,
Arin was making a couple different types of pie in the kitchen,
While Wyldfyre and Kai were gaming, with Riyu watching them game
Sora was in her room, she was laying on her bed, as she couldn’t help thinking about the encounter with her parents,
How they still didn’t care, even after all these years, even after all the proof, the video of Zanth being drained,
She turned up the volume in her headphones to try and block out the noise of her her own thoughts
Some tears slipped out as she spiralled, she shoved her face into her pillow, as the tears grew stronger,
While her stomach starting to ache, she curled up like a cat
She could hear laughter coming from where Kai and Wyldfyre were,
It kinda sounded like they were father and daughter, or at least what she imagined a dad was supposed to be like
It’s not like her father was ever really a dad to her.
She shuttered just thinking about how he and her mother treated her,
It always brought back painful memories, memories she’d tried to forget,
Tears welled up in her eyes as she thought about her parents, she wiped them away,
She felt sweat from her forehead, as she continued to spiral, she dug her nails into her forehead, as if it would help her,
As a few minutes later there was a knock at the door,
“Sora?”
It was unmistakable Nya’s voice
She and Lloyd must’ve finished setting the table
“Y-yeah, what is it?”
She said
Her voicing sounded like she was on the verge of tears
Nya slightly opened the door, to where she was peering into Sora’s room,
“You good?”
Nya asked her
Sounding a little bit concerned,
“Y-yeah I’m fine Nya, why you ask?”
“Just checking, also dinner will be ready in about five minutes, so you should probably come soon”
“K, I’ll be there soon”
Sora said
Nya smiled, as she left, closing the door behind her,
Sora figured she should probably get out of her room for dinner, or at the very least get out of her bed,
She rolled from her bed, unintentionally falling on the floor,
She slowly got up, making her way to the door,
She left her room, closing the door behind her, as she entered into the hallway she could hear the sounds of laughter in the gaming room and noise from the kitchen
As she walked towards the dining room, the noise got louder, not that it was surprising,
As she walked through the hallway she couldn’t help but notice all the paintings and photos of everything and everyone before the merge,
there was a photo of what looked to Kai and Nya parents, a group photo of the ninjas before the merge,
And one of Nya and someone else who was probably that Jay guy
One of Cole, Kai, Zane and that Jay guy
They honestly looked like a family, I mean they basically were one, even if Kai and Nya were they only ones who were actually siblings, they all still kinda acted like siblings
I mean when she first met them, she thought Lloyd was their younger brother, I mean he basically is,
Kai and Nya kinda reminded her of herself and Arin,
They way they would argue about anything, yet we’re the first to defend each other, and the way they constantly playfully teased each others
It was honestly nice having Arin, as kind of like an Older Brother in her life, he was after all like three month older then her
It was honestly probably the best thing to ever happened to her life, meeting Arin and the ninjas of course
Admittedly the photo on the wall did make her think of the only photo of herself and her parents
It was still back with at old home in Imperium, back she left Imperium,
A part of her did kinda wish that she could’ve had a photo of her parents at the monastery,
But it’s not like she has a photo of herself with them and they were never really her parents
As tears welled up on her eyes as she about them, she quickly wiped them away, as she finally entered the kitchen
She was greeted with Zane finishing up dinner,
She waved to him
“Greetings Sora, dinner will be sever momentarily, why don’t you sit down at the table while you wait.”
Zane said to her
Sora nodded in agreement, as she went to sit down at the table,
Lloyd was already sitting down at the table, he pulled her up the chair,
“Hey Sora, sit here, Arin can sit on the other side of course”
Lloyd cheerfully said to her
She nodded a yes to him, as she sat down,
Arin soon arrived afterwards,
“Hey Sora”
He said,
as he sat down beside her,
As not too long after, dinner finally started, as Zane brown out the noodles, while wearing a pink apron,
Sora could hear Lloyd giggling to himself seeing Zane in a pink apron
“Dinner is served”
Zane said,
As everyone nearly immediately dug in, except for Sora,
Despite how she unlocked her true potential, and finally stood up to her parents after all those years, her heart still feel empty
Like a black whole had consumed it long ago, while a nauseating feeling grew in her stomach
She took a little bit of noodles to her bowl, slowly slurping it down,
As Kai was already on in his third bowl of noodles,
They all started chatting about Imperium, and eventually Lloyd asked how she unlocked her true potential, Sora mentioned it had to do with her parents,
Later the conversation switched to talking about Intelligent George, somehow
Later that night dinner had finished, with Nya and Kai clearing the table
As Arin and Sora were getting ready for bed, Sora was surprised to see Lloyd at Arin’s door,
His room was right next to hers
“Hey Arin”
He said,
As he went to tuck Arin into bed,
Sora wasn’t to surprised by this admittedly, I mean Arin did mention his parents would tick him in when he was little,
When Sora first heard about this, she was a little shocked, probably cause her parents never did.
She was even more surprised when he came into her room to tuck her in
“Hey Sora”
He gently whispered,
As he tucked her the covers
“Night kiddo”
Lloyd whispered to her,
As he lightly and gently ruffled her hair,
After he left the room, turning off the lights in their room, and silently closing the door
She could feel her heart racing, maybe it was because she wasn’t used to anyone other Arin caring about her,
A few minutes after Lloyd had left the room, she could already hear Arin snoring, she giggled a little wondering how his snoring was that loud she could hear it from the other room
Sue really couldn’t tell how he was always managed to fall asleep so easily,
Sleep never came easy to her, even while living in Imperium, she would always have nonsensical nightmares, but her parents never cared about it,
They only ever screamed at her for waking up, or her father would just slap across the face for daring to disturb them while they were trying to sleep,
She turn her head to face the wall, as she felt tears forming in her eyes,
She wiped her tears away, it felt so childish to her, maybe she was just tired, and that was why she had tears forming in her eyes,
She thought to herself, as she tried to sleep,
