More Today Than Yesterday

Summary:

Penelope has a few surprises up her sleeve for her husband during their wedding reception, which inspires Colin to find time for them to be alone together.

Notes:

Polin is really out here making me experience many firsts. This is my first foray into writing smut, and although it took a while -- second-guessing tenses, battling smut block (writer's block but for smut), busy days at work and life in general -- I'm so glad I was able to push through. Here's hoping you enjoy this! Feedback is always welcome.

A big shoutout to all the writers, Polin and non-Polin, who inspired me! And thank you to Nov for beta-ing this piece!

Work Text:

Let’s give it up for our newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Colin and Penelope Bridgerton!

The cake has been cut, the host already said goodnight, and the DJ is already spinning his tracks for the remaining partygoers crowding the dance floor.

Colin trains his eyes at the glimmering lights of the party around him and smiles. He has been wearing that smile for the entirety of the day, and it just didn’t want to go away. Not when it was the happiest day of his life.

He turns to look at Penelope to see if she had the same expression on her face, but she wasn't beside him. Wait, where was his wife? Did she tell him where she was going and, like any good married man, already forget what she said?

He decides to find her and to also say his thanks to their guests who were starting to leave, when Michaela suddenly stops him in his tracks.

He considers Michaela as one of his greatest friends, someone who never hesitates to be his grounding force. Their banter would always leave Colin either seething or impressed, always one-upping the other for the last word in. But at this moment, especially on his wedding day, Colin doesn’t have time for any of her antics. He looks at her with narrowed eyes.

“Hang on,” she starts defensively. “I’ve come bearing gifts.”

She holds up a shot glass each in her hand and gives one to him. Colin smirks at her and eagerly accepts.

“To you and the happiness of your wife!” she shouts on top of the blaring music.

They clink their glasses together and down the drinks.

Colin could only whoop at the burn of the liquid.

“Thank you,” he coughs.

Before he can give the glass back to her, she hands him a small square envelope she fished from her suit’s jacket pocket.

He raises his eyebrows at Michaela as he gingerly reaches for the envelope. For a moment he only stares at it.

“Go on, open it,” she prods.

Colin raises an eyebrow at her, warily opening the envelope. Inside is a photo, a polaroid. The shifting lights in the ballroom make it hard for him to truly see the image, but once it comes into focus, his jaw immediately drops.

It was his wife, bathed in beautiful golden light. She was stretched out on a sofa, leaning on one arm. The creamy pink satin set she was wearing could hardly contain her breasts. Her head was tipped towards the ceiling, her curls cascading down her right shoulder. Her mouth curved into a relaxed smile, eyes closed as the late afternoon sun gleamed on her. She looked like a goddess.

Colin looks up at Michaela and down again at the picture, mouth still agape. He looks up again and she gives him a grin and, finally, he beams, releasing a huff of breath he didn't even realize he was holding. He looks back down at the photo, rubbing his lips with his index finger.

Michaela can only laugh and shake her head as his brain short-circuited.

“You lucky bastard,” she says as she claps him on the shoulder and walks away. Colin stands frozen on the spot for a few more seconds before realizing the party happening around him. He peeks at the photo one last time before tucking it inside his jacket pocket and scans the room for Pen. Suddenly, he can’t wait to have her alone in their suite.

Before he can go any further, he spots a flash of red hair. He stops to turn but only sees Philippa, who is, coincidentally, making a beeline for him.

“Colin!” she calls out.

Colin smiles at his new sister-in-law as she approaches him. She hands him another shot glass, one for him and one for her. He eyes her suspiciously, but has an inkling on what’s coming next.

“Welcome to the family!” she quips.

They clink their glasses together and drink up.

Philippa gives him the small envelope from her purse, grabs Colin’s empty shot glass, and bolts before he can even open it.

He carefully opens the envelope and pulls out another polaroid.

This time around, it was an overhead shot of Penelope lying down on a corner of a bed. He could see her looking straight at the camera, even though her arm was strategically covering her face so that only one of her eyes could be seen. Her hair was fanned out on the bed. She was wearing a dark blue bra which contrasted beautifully with her skin, her mouth slightly open to reveal a knowing smile.

Colin absentmindedly turns the photo around to look at it from another angle, and heat swoops down. He looks around consciously, pocketing the other photo inside his jacket again.

He walks around aimlessly, trying to catch up with the happenings of the last few minutes. He thinks of taking out the photos to look at them again when he hears someone calling him.

“Colin, hey,” Genevieve calls, walking towards him.

He nods to her. Gen is one of Penelope’s no-nonsense friends, so he decides to be straightforward with her. “Do you have by any chance a shot and an envelope for me?” he asks, grinning.

She shows him the goods, amused. “How many do you already have?”

“Just two. Do you know how many there are?”

“No idea. Do you still want this one?” she jests.

“Of course I do!” He eagerly takes the shot glass and envelope she presents him and drinks up before Gen could take both back. The alcohol has made him bolder at this point, so he rips the flap on the envelope immediately and pulls out the photo.

This particular photo was taken from the side, as if the photographer just entered the bedroom and stopped to take Pen’s picture by the door. One of her knees was perched on the bed. The pose made the creamy white slip she was wearing ride up a little, revealing a lacy thong in a matching color. Her hair was like fire, the only pop of color in the photo. On her head was a veil.

Colin imagines that this is what Penelope would look like under her wedding gown and he gulps. He quickly turns to Gen to see if she noticed, but she's looking at the picture as well.

“Ooh, I made that slip for her. Don’t rip it.”

Colin manages to laugh at that.

After thanking Gen, he moves about the room again in an attempt to find Pen. His feet bring him towards his eldest brother, Anthony, beside a dancing Kate and Edwina.

“There's the man of the hour!” his sister-in-law shouts.

He approaches them and Anthony immediately notices his empty hand.

“You're not drinking enough!” Suddenly, he’s passed a glass of amber liquid that Anthony seems to have conjured out of thin air. He’s taken aback with his brother’s spontaneity tonight, but he suspects that he’s just happy that Penelope is now officially part of the family. Everyone seems to be.

“Have you seen my wife?” swigging the drink his brother handed to him. He winces at the feeling of his face getting hot, no doubt caused by the alcohol being given to him throughout the night.

“Oh, right! I have!” Edwina suddenly chimes in and she opens her purse in search of something.

Colin chuckles. “She’s there?”

“Indeed, she is.” Edwina holds out the envelope to Colin.

It’s thicker compared to the previous ones. “Oh, god,” he says with a hint of desperation. The tease is becoming torture, but he rips the envelope nonetheless. Kate and Edwina gather around him as he pulls two photos out.

The sisters gasp, piqueing Anthony’s curiosity. He moves around to take a look but Kate and Edwina immediately cover his view.

“It’s for his eyes only, apparently,” Kate interjects. Edwina’s jaw is on the floor, as if not fully comprehending what she had just looked at.

“I didn’t know those were spicy!” she mumbles to Kate.

What Colin sees takes his breath away as well.

In the first photo, Penelope was standing in front of a full length gilded mirror, smirking directly at the camera, her expression knowing. Her auburn curls framed her face. A sheer pink sheet made out of tulle covered her from her chest down to her toes, her arms holding the fabric in just the right places to accentuate her skin and curves.

His eyes fly to the reflection in the mirror and he feels warm all over, his fingers subconsciously going to his lips. She wasn’t wearing anything else apart from the tulle. His vision rovers to the dip of her waist, at the birthmark he's had memorized near the small of her back.

He flips to the second photo, where Pen is seated on the floor in front of the mirror, her back to the camera. Her head was turned toward the lens, the pink sheet still held up to cover the front of her body. Her face was partly covered by her hair, but he recognizes the amusement in her eyes.

Colin smiles at the photo. It was more innocent, but it reminded him of past moments with her. Of quiet afternoons, whispered affirmations, tangled limbs and sheets.

He suspects he looks a bit goofy to the people around him, smiling from ear to ear.

“Pen!” Edwina calls out.

He immediately glances up at Edwina and sees her pointing to him while looking somewhere else. He follows her line of sight and, finally, finds Penelope.

They catch each other's eyes, and he sees his wife looking at him like a deer caught in headlights. She has seen him holding the photos. They start walking to one another.

Before he even reaches her, he makes a grand show of fanning himself and putting the photos in his suit’s pocket, patting them close to his heart. Penelope takes a hold of his arms as his hands grab at her waist. They sway a little, as if starting a slow dance that’s out of tune with the pop song blasting from the speakers.

“I think it's time we get out of here,” he leans down close to her face, a heated look in his eyes.

Her eyes go wide at his words. She takes a look around the hotel ballroom.

“We can’t go yet, the party just started,” Penelope laughs. “They’ll look for us.”

Colin takes a look around the ballroom. Eloise, out of all people, is leading a square dance on the dance floor. Even his older brothers have joined in. Daphne and their mum are having a laugh with Penelope's boss, Agatha Danbury. Everybody looks as if they’re in a world of their own.

He turns to his wife and gives her the most charming grin he can muster. He moves his face closer to her, as if to whisper. “They won't even notice. Or if they do, they’ll understand.”

Penelope gives him a look of disbelief, but a smile quirks from her lips. Taking another glance at the ballroom, she puts out her hand for Colin to take. A laugh bubbles up from him as he intertwines their fingers and leads them to the exit.

“Newlyweds!”

It was enough to stop them in their tracks. They turn around and come face to face with Portia Featherington with some guests in tow.

“Mr. and Mrs. Abernathy are about to leave and want to say their congratulations,” she says, all smiles.

Colin sighs heavily, enough for Penelope to hear. She quickly glances at him, a line set on her mouth as if telling him to behave.

They take the time to shake their guests hands, thanking them for gracing their wedding. As soon as they say their thanks to the Abernathys, more guests come forward to relay their best wishes and bid their goodbyes.

Their plans for an early exit soon dissolve as their family members catch up with them. The dwindling crowd allows Eloise to take a hold of Penelope and pull her into the next dance.

“She might be yours forever, but she’s mine for tonight,” Eloise says haughtily to Colin.

Penelope looks at Eloise and then at him with affection, which he returns. He might have been the first Bridgerton to meet Penelope when they were kids, but it was Eloise who made sure she was a solid part of their lives all these years. He watches them as they sing and bop to the music.

What happens next becomes a blur of dancing and drinking. Colin and Penelope again find themselves next to each other at the center of the room while Hyacinth and Gregory pour liquor straight from the bottle down their throats, their guests counting on who would last longer.

Then their families toast for them to kiss, which they willingly oblige to. Every kiss was followed by a shot. This went on and on until they were both giggly and clumsily holding onto each other. Then they were pulled again into the dance floor as Philippa and Albie led a conga all around the ballroom, inviting people to join and make the line longer.

The energy in the room eventually peters out as the DJ swaps the percussive beats for something slower. The shine of the lights become less erratic. Most of the remaining people, their family members, take to their seats, finishing half-empty bottles and nursing their sore feet.

In a corner of the ballroom, Colin pulls Penelope into an embrace, her back against his chest. They resume their sway-dancing in time with the music.

“Can’t wait to have you,” he whispers into her hair.

“You already have me,” she answers back lightly, reaching for his cheek.

“You know what I mean.”

She turns to look at him, a smile crinkling her heavily-lidded eyes.

“How are we even still awake?” she jests.

And in fact she was right. Colin could feel the adrenaline from the whole day wearing out and the alcohol catching up. But he responds by just laughing lightly and putting his mouth on hers as they continue their slow dance. Penelope doesn't seem to mind.

“Lovebirds,” Benedict calls them. “Let’s do more toasts!”

Colin can only groan as Penelope laughs beside him.

-----------------------

The next thing Colin knows is that they’re being pulled into the elevator.

The elevator was full of their party. There were a lot of hands. Too many hands holding them up and heads talking and laughing over them.

“Look up, look up!” Hyacinth excitedly screams from a corner, training her phone to the mirrored ceiling to take a photo of everyone inside. Everyone goes quiet as soon as the photo is taken, too drunk or tired to give out any other reaction.

At one point the smooth movement of the elevator halts and stops at a floor. He vaguely registers Daphne and Simon and the Featherington sisters and their husbands as they file out of the elevator and shout their good night.

Each one of the single siblings—except for Francesca who most probably slipped back to her room as soon as the reception ended—have gallantly decided to accompany Colin and Pen back to their suite.

Colin, pushed at the back of the elevator, realizes that Benedict and Gregory are the ones by his side. Their hands are raised in case he starts to sway and lose his balance.

“My bros! I’m fine, I’m fine,” he mumbles. He starts to laugh at the sound of his voice.

In front of him, Penelope’s arm is linked around Eloise’s, who, despite spending most of the night on the dance floor, hardly looks inebriated. Eloise whispers something to Penelope, and he hears his wife giggle at what Eloise says. They sound like bells waking him up.

“Pen,” he says at the top of his voice. “We’ll need to drink water.”

Penelope glances at him and her giggles start again.

The elevator opens on their floor and they start to walk towards their suite. Colin catches up to Pen and Eloise, taking a hold of his wife’s hand. Penelope snakes her arm around his waist. It seems he’s the one needing more support than she does.

“I love you,” he whispers to her.

“I love you,” she whispers back.

Benedict goes ahead of them to open the wedding suite. As soon as the door opens, the newlyweds make a beeline for the sofa and plop themselves on it. Colin stretches his arm slowly towards the coffee table to reach for the water bottles. After a wobbly try, he manages to open one and take a swig. He offers the remaining water to Pen, who’s already leaning on one arm of the sofa, struggling to keep her head upright.

“Drink, baby,” he says soothingly, touching the glass bottle to her cheek.

Pen manages to wake up to take it from him. She drinks the remaining water and starts to watch with fascination how the people around them are moving around, helping to tidy up the room and get them ready for bed.

Ever the best maid-of-honor, Eloise takes it upon herself to remove Pen’s heels, placing a pair of fluffy slippers on her feet. She pulls Penelope up from the sofa, forcing her through the bathroom door. She sits Pen in front of the vanity.

“Take your makeup off while you still can,” she says while preparing wipes and cotton pads soaked with makeup remover. “I’ll fetch you your pyjamas.”

“Thanks, babes,” Penelope replies, lazily wiping around her face.

Out on the living room sofa, Colin takes off his suit jacket and shoes with obvious effort. Benedict hands him a glass of water with a fizzing tablet.

“Drink this so you’re good for tomorrow.” he instructs Colin.

“Another drink! Thanks, bro. You know I love you, bro,” he flashes a genuine but sleepy smile to his brother.

Benedict just ruffles his younger brother’s hair. “Greg, can you find Colin a t-shirt to sleep in?” he beckons to his youngest sibling.

After finishing the drink, Colin stretches on the couch, not even bothering at all with unbuttoning his shirt. He goes out like a light in mere seconds. Gregory shuffles too late into the room, sighs, and throws the shirt beside Colin.

“I’ll go and fetch a blanket,” Gregory says exasperatedly.

Eloise looks toward the living area as she comes back to her best friend. “Your husband is already sleeping on the sofa,” she tells Pen.

Penelope tries to peek from the bathroom, her head bobbing up and down. “Poor thing, his back’s going to hurt tomorrow.” She tries to paw at her dress as well, struggling with the fastenings of her corset.

“Let me,” Eloise tells her.

A laugh bubbles up from Penelope. “It should’ve been your brother doing this,” she says matter-of-factly.

Eloise’s eyes go wide. “Oh my god, please don’t remind me.”

Hyacinth joins them in an effort to help, bringing Penelope the same fizzing drink Benedict gave to Colin. She removes the pins from her new sister-in-law’s hair, while Eloise works on the wedding gown. The sisters look at each other as they observe Penelope trying her best to keep her eyes open, doing a poor job at removing her makeup. She still had patches of foundation around her face, some of her mascara still clinging to her eyelashes.

After finishing the drink and deciding that her makeup was removed enough, Penelope musters just enough energy to change into her pyjamas and brush her teeth. She then goes out into the living area and sits beside Colin on the sofa. For a while she just stares at her husband.

She can’t believe she gets to call him her husband now.

He looks so peaceful that she doesn’t even want to let him bother transferring to the bedroom. She just strokes his hair and gives him a peck on the cheek. His eyelids flutter at the contact.

“Okay, off to bed you,” Eloise orders Penelope.

Before obeying Eloise, Pen pulls her into a hug. “You know I love you, too, right?” she asks.

“Would I even be here if I didn’t?” Eloise answers her.

Penelope hugs her even tighter. “Thank you for today. And for wearing your best trainers,” she chides.

“It’s the only way I could still be doing this at this hour,” Eloise chuckles, lifting her dress to examine the shoes she was wearing. “Okay, bed. Now,” she repeats, pointing the bedroom to Pen.

Penelope rolls her eyes but yawns at the same time. She takes one last glance at Colin before retreating to the bedroom.

“Goodnight, thank you. See you in the morning,” Pen hollers to the Bridgertons.

“I doubt it,” Benedict murmurs as he and his siblings shuffle out of the suite. Only Eloise hears him, who generously gives him a jab to the ribs.

Penelope turns down the lights and drifts off the moment her head hits the pillow.

-----------------------

Penelope wakes up desperate for a glass of water.

She takes a look around the room, feeling a bit disoriented. The light coming in from the curtains tells her that it’s not too late but not too early. 8:20 am, the clock on her bedside table thankfully reads.

Beside her, Colin is fast asleep in nothing but his boxers. At some point during the night he must have woken up and transferred to the bedroom, discarding his shirt and pants in a heap at the foot of the bed.

Slowly, as to not wake him up, she gets up from the bed to get herself some water. She catches her reflection in the mirror and sees streaks of leftover makeup on her face. Her hair is also no better. There are some parts sticking out, and parts clumped together by hairspray.

She tiptoes back into their bedroom to leave a bottle of water beside Colin, who was still fast asleep and snoring. She then saunters to the bathroom to get a much needed shower.

Stepping into the shower lets her replay and reflect on yesterday's happenings. The day was a blur, and it’s as if her mind was playing a video tape at double speed, but every time she recognizes her favorite parts, the tape plays at normal speed again. These are the moments that she could only hope will be stored in her core memories.

It was seeing Colin all weepy and red faced when she emerged from the door, trying to compose himself with a smile as she walked closer to him on the aisle.

It was his mum pulling her into a hug before handing her over to her son.

It was him dipping her for a kiss, flower petals raining over them, at the end of the ceremony.

It was them on their way to the hotel for the reception, hands clasped together in the bridal car.

It was her dancing with her mum for the father-daughter dance, her sisters joining them in the middle of the song.

It was Eloise’s maid-of-honor speech, half of it told in jokes, but then turning emotional towards the end, with classic Eloise making a comeback by threatening her own brother if he hurts Penelope.

It was them answering questions about their story for their wedding video, with Colin saying how she fell first, but he fell harder.

It was her asking him while the guests were eating dinner if he was happy and he responded by putting his arm around her and eagerly nodding.

It was her giving the female members of their entourage envelopes with her boudoir photoshoot photos and asking them to be distributed to Colin.

She can’t help but smile a bigger smile at each memory, the last one in particular making her giggle. She generously lathers shampoo on her hair, recalling her conversation with the ladies as she handed the envelopes out during the tail end of the reception.

“You can take a peek as long as he sees them first,” she told them with a wink.

Eloise held her hands up and out of the way before she could give one of the envelopes.

“Penelope Bridgerton, do not even think of giving me one of those. I bet you look sublime there, but I do not want to personally see what reaction it causes my brother,” she said dryly.

“Fine, hand them to Winnie and tell her they’re just my photos for Colin,” Pen answered, pushing the envelope into her best friend’s hands. Eloise just rolled her eyes.

The memory grounds her and all she can do is release a chuckle. She raises her face towards the shower spray, letting the water mingle with her amusement.

Lost in thought, she doesn’t notice the shower door opening at all. Strong arms wrap around her waist, causing her to shriek in surprise. She whips around to see Colin’s sleepy face, water droplets slowly glossing his features.

“G’morning,” he mumbles, looking at her bemused.

She lets out a huff of breath and pulls him closer to her so that he can share in the warm water.

“Hey there, Mr. B,” she says coyly. “Are you okay?”

Colin nods. “Better than I expected, actually.”

She examines him for a beat then turns around to get shampoo. Suddenly, her husband’s arms (her husband!) are around her again.

“Wait,” she giggles, turning back to face him. “Bend your head a little.”

She lathers the shampoo on her palms and runs them through his hair. Her hands massage his scalp, wringing out the foam through her fingers. His hair is so lush that it’s so easy to get lost in the moment. She deliberately stretches the time to let him feel her love for him in this small act of service.

“That feels quite nice, Pen,” he murmurs, eyes closed.

She smiles as she hears the satisfaction in his voice. She brings down her hand to affectionately swipe at his cheek.

“Now rinse mine,” she laughs, turning away from him again so he can put his hands on her hair.

She comes to realize that this was a mistake — but a beautiful one, at that — because he does put his hands on her hair to help her rinse. But he doesn’t even last for a few seconds because the next thing Penelope knows is that he’s tipping her head gently to the side and bringing his mouth to her neck.

“Colin!” She says, half protesting, half moaning. “We’ll be stuck here,” she says pointedly at him.

“Then we’ll be stuck here,” he answers, turning her face so that he can put his mouth on hers.

She relents, kissing him back. He pulls away for a bit and brings his mouth at level with her breast, sucking at her sensitive skin.

She closes her eyes, relaxing and moaning at his kisses.

“No we can't,” she forces with a huff, eyes still closed. Her hands are already on his head in an attempt to keep herself steady. “We’ll be cold and wrinkly,” she giggles.

Colin moves up and kisses her on the lips again.

“Fine. But I don’t care how wrinkly you’ll get.” He spins her around slowly and starts rinsing off the suds in her hair.

Penelope can only smile at what he said, shampoo bubbles dripping down her face. She has a quick mental image of them together in their 70s. Having a date in a cafe. Gossiping in a corner of a ballroom. It’s them, wrinkly together. She lathers the bar of soap and turns to him, working the soap all over his body.

“You have no idea how cute you are,” looking him straight in the eye. She places her hands on his bum, kneading her soapy fingers over his skin. She tiptoes and plants a kiss on his lips.

“Cute?! I don’t wanna be cute right now!” he chuckles.

He leans for a kiss and darts his tongue to hers. She eagerly accepts it, letting him also push her to the wall of the shower stall. They hardly break apart, their hands sliding all over each other’s slick skin, the shower left running and forgotten.

Colin is the first to pull away and she notices the effort it takes him. She also notices his erection at half mast, her eyes darting to it. She gingerly touches the tip, causing it to bounce a little.

“Who’s cute now?” Colin laughs, wrapping his arms around her. She joins in his laughter and thinks how much they sound like a pair of teenagers. Well, they were teenagers before who were bantering like this. Just not naked together.

She reaches up to rinse his hair, his chest, his back, making sure there were no more bubbles. He pulls her close again.

“I’m good. You good?” Colin whispers, his fingers skating over her breasts.

She doesn’t know whether to press herself closer or pull his hands down so she just turns off the shower knob and nods her head.

They get out of the shower together, Colin’s hands still roaming Penelope's body. She moves to wear a robe, but Colin tries to pull it away.

“You won't need that,” he reasons. He pulls her flush to him, his lips immediately kissing her shoulder.

She laughs and moans at the same time. “We’re dripping wet!”

She pushes him slightly and proceeds on wearing her robe. She tosses a towel to Colin, who rolls his eyes. He wears the towel around his waist anyway.

Penelope starts to brush her hair while eyeing Colin from the bathroom mirror. They stare at each other like that for a few more seconds, serious faces and all, until they both break into wide smiles. Colin kisses the crown of her head. He reaches for the hair dryer and begins blowdrying the strands she has brushed.

This action is enough to make her feel warm all over. This is her husband: kind, caring, and tender.

She reaches for his face and gives his cheek a kiss. He stops the hair dryer and responds by nuzzling her neck.

He glances at her in the mirror.

“Whose plan was it to seduce me with all those photos?” he asks, a lilt in his voice.

Penelope laughs, a blush creeping on her cheeks.

“You know I’ve been wanting to take photos like those for the longest time. I didn't want them to go to waste. You liked them?”

“Liked them? I’m gonna have a secret shrine built for them,” he murmurs, his voice muffled by the way he’s kissing her neck.

Penelope laughs but she feels the energy in the room changing, becoming more charged. The heat from her cheeks a while ago travels down to her toes.

“Well, there's more of where that came from.”

Colin groans. “I can’t wait to see them. But now you’re in front of me.”

His kisses become hungrier. He tugs at the belt of her robe and caresses her neck, her breast, her stomach. His hand travels further down. Penelope gasps at his touch.

She leans her hands on the bathroom counter while Colin slides her robe further down her shoulders, kissing the sensitive skin there. She can’t help but arch her back, and she gasps again when she feels his hard length.

All Colin can do is push against her when she reaches for him behind her back. Her hand fumbles around the towel on his waist until finally it gives. She wraps her hand around him, smooth skin to smooth skin.

Penelope gazes at Colin in the mirror, and he gazes back. Their eyes are glazed over, hypnotized by their own touches.

Colin’s hand travels down further while his other hand cups her. From her reflection in the mirror, he sees her eyes flutter close. Before he can go any further, her hands stop his.

“I want to kiss you,” she says softly.

She turns around to face him, sitting on the bathroom counter, and presses her mouth on his. For a second, the kisses start off sweet, reverent, transforming into something more fervent that leaves both of them panting.

She makes space for him, bracketing him with her legs as he presses his body closer to hers. He continues touching her, his hands now cupping both of her breasts, thumbs rubbing her nipples.

Penelope whimpers. What he's doing with his hands makes her even more breathless. Her hands also go up to explore his body, rubbing down his back. She grabs his bum and pushes him even closer to her, his erection pressing on her center. The sensation causes both of them to gasp and pull apart.

“Darling,” Colin grunts. “As desperate as we are, I don’t want our first time as husband and wife to be in the bathroom.”

He lifts her up by the waist all of a sudden, causing her to squeal and laugh.

“Colin, put me down, this is dangerous!” she laughs.

He does put her down, but he quickly pulls her hands and walks them backwards to the bedroom. He resumes kissing her as his legs hit the bed. He spins her gently and lays her on it.

As he hovers over her, Penelope sighs languidly and looks at him with adoration in her eyes. She reaches up to stroke his forehead, brushing away the loose strands of his hair still wet from the shower. Her hand continues gliding down his neck, his chest. Her eyes rove downward between them and suddenly her hand is there as well, stroking up his length.

Colin’s breath hitches and he brings down his face closer to hers until they're nose to nose. He takes a quick glance down where she’s touching him and takes her hand.

“No, not yet,” he whispers.

Penelope starts to protest, but Colin’s lips are on hers in an instant. They deepen the kiss, their tongues darting every now and then. It was as if time slowed and quickened at the same time.

Colin brings his hand up to the side of her face, his thumb grazing her chin. He lets it travel downwards to her neck, to her chest, resting it over her heart. His mouth begins tracing the parts where his hand has travelled, kissing the top of her breast until she is left panting and squirming on the bed.

His mouth suddenly latches to her nipple, causing her to buck beneath him. He kisses the valley between her breasts, moving to the other nub, his palm caressing the one his mouth just left. She responds by running her hand at the back of his head in an attempt to keep him there, a moan escaping her lips.

Colin continues further down her body, laying kisses on her stomach, his hands closely following in their reverence. His hands settle on her hips, his lips pressing feathery kisses on her lower abdomen.

She glances down, unable to look away from all the love and attention he’s been giving her. His eyes meet hers, and she sees a glint of mischief in them. With deft hands he lifts each of her legs to rest on his shoulders. He starts kissing the inside of her thighs, inching closer and closer to her center.

She knows what’s coming next, knows that he will unravel her, and she’s overwhelmed by the knowledge. She attempts to keep her breath steady and puts her arm to cover her eyes to focus better on the present moment.

“You look like one of your pictures,” Colin points out, his breath warm on her skin.

Her arm slips down a little and she starts to laugh, but the wind is knocked right out of her as Colin puts his tongue on her. She can’t help but moan at the sensation. The warmth of his mouth is comforting, and she relaxes at the feeling of it, her other hand gently caressing his head.

Colin starts off slow, pointing his tongue and licking on her bundle of nerves. He then experimentally drags his tongue across her whole slit, causing her to jerk on him. He settles on her clit, and she feels him wrap his lips over the sensitive nub. Penelope brings her hand over her mouth in an attempt to stifle her moans. Colin pauses a bit to gently pull her hand away.

“It’s just us. I want to hear you,” he says, voice low.

She glances at him and smiles, amazed at how darker his eyes look. She sweeps at his hair and puts her hand over his head again, gently navigating him back to business.

This time when he dives in, she lets go as well. Her moans are on another level. She feels her cheeks redden at the sounds coming from him as he slurps her, but she soon becomes desensitized to the sound, only focusing on the feeling. Delicious. Glorious.

“Colin…you’re so good,” she pants.

He responds with his fingers slowly skimming her thighs, thumbs rubbing circles on her skin. Despite this, his mouth never leaves her, clamping over her clit and licking her entirely. And then his fingertips flutter down further, until one of his fingers comes inside her. Even though she expects it, she still gasps at the new sensation.

He switches between sucking and licking and curling his finger until Penelope feels the room spinning. She rocks herself on him, anchoring herself on his head. Her thighs are already trembling. His other hand comes up to knead at her breast.

“Ahhh,” she cries out, the feeling lifting her higher and higher. She rocks herself more vigorously on him, and he responds by moving against her, following her rhythm. Sparks fly down from her breast to her toes and up again to pool at her center. She could feel herself starting to float, her moans transforming into pants coming from the back of her throat. She takes a deep breath, and that’s when she feels Colin’s other finger join his first one, both curling inside her.

“Colin, I, I…” she stammers.

He doesn’t even lift his head. He just nods vigorously, hitting the most sensitive parts of her.

That’s when the dam breaks. Penelope almost screams, but she remembers they’re not the only people in the hotel, so she tempers her cries enough for the two of them. Stars explode at the back of her eyes and she feels everything all at once. Her other hand flies to her chest to contain her galloping heart.

Colin doesn’t let go of her. He moves his mouth and fingers in a way that she can no longer comprehend as she reels from the first orgasm he gave her. She feels another one building up, so she cants her hips faster and pats him frantically on the head. Colin’s eyes shoot up out of curiosity.

“Don’t stop, don’t stop,” she whispers, her eyes shut tightly.

He happily obliges and she rides the crest the second time, clenching down on his fingers.

Her body bucks from the pleasure. It becomes too intense that her hands flail and her head whips left and right on the bed, moans still escaping from her lips.

She opens her eyes and sees Colin finally lifting his head up, looking at her as she becomes undone. His fingers are still inside her, stroking her walls lightly as she pulses on him weakly. Once she can no longer take it, she reaches for him, pulling him over her, eager for him to cover her. She sighs into his mouth when it connects with hers.

Colin lifts his head slightly until it's just the tips of their noses touching.

“Did you like that?” he asks breathlessly.

Penelope closes her eyes and nods, a smile blooming from her lips.

“Very, very much,” she answers while stroking his back. She opens her eyes and stares at him as he smiles at her, his eyes dark and yet warm. She wonders if her eyes reflect the same.

Suddenly she flips them over so that she's on top of him. She registers the surprise on his face and kisses him again. She swirls her tongue around his, tasting herself. Her hands are everywhere, too, as she kisses him — on his shoulders, his chest, his sides. She reaches between them and tenderly holds his hard-on, and she feels more than hears him grunt on her lips.

She lifts her head to look at him and the dark blue of his eyes are now black. The warmth in his eyes has transformed into full heat and fire. His hands come up to cup her breasts, rolling his thumbs over her nipples. She starts to squirm and she purposefully rolls her hips on him, earning a gasp from him.

Before she can laugh, he sits up and wraps his mouth around one of her nipples and she moans in surprise. His arms enclose her in an embrace, fingertips imprinting on her thigh. She pushes him away from her chest, grabbing his face to lead him instead towards her mouth. They kiss with abandon, their teeth sometimes knocking into each other, but they soothe them with their tongues.

She feels how much he wants her, the tangible presence of his desire pressing towards her center. And honestly she can feel her own desire mirrored back, dripping from her. They pull away enough to look at each other, lifting their eyebrows in anticipation of what’s next.

They don’t break eye contact as Penelope slowly lifts herself while Colin takes a hold of himself, guiding his erection towards her entrance. He pumps himself a few times, and Penelope can’t help but look, her mouth opening at how big and red his penis is already. When she looks at his face again, his eyes are glazed, hypnotized. She wonders if hers look the same, but her train of thought breaks upon their first contact.

Penelope gasps and she feels goosebumps rising all over her body as she sinks on him inch by inch. Once he’s fully in, they sigh at each other, limbs melting onto one another. She gently pushes Colin to lie down again, bracing her hands on his chest as she moves up and down.

The stretch is different. It's delicious. She rolls her head towards the ceiling as her hips roll down on him. She feels Colin’s hands roaming again over her skin, his hands once again cupping her breasts. She takes one of his hands and holds it to her cheek, and he slides it down to her chin. His thumb gently caresses her bottom lip, and she kisses it before he fully hooks it inside her mouth. She moans as she wraps her lips around it.

“You feel magical,” Colin blurts a bit breathlessly, his eyes glazed and half closed.

She sucks at his thumb still in her mouth, not breaking eye contact, her hips moving against his. She releases his thumb with a pop of her lips.

“So do you,” she says to him, smiling.

Colin’s hands are suddenly on her hips and she begins moving faster. She suddenly becomes conscious of every sound, hearing them both panting, hearing the soft squish of their bodies coming together. She starts to feel the concentrated pleasure building up again where they’re connected, and she can’t help but moan and loll her head back.

She starts to feel tired and her movements become sloppy, but Colin doesn’t let go of her and instead meets her thrust for thrust. She looks at him and the orgasm suddenly strikes, her mouth falling open to a silent scream. She flops down on his chest as she catches her bearings.

She still feels boneless and tingly when suddenly Colin lifts her and flips them over. He enters her again in an instant, as if nothing happened. He hitches her leg up to his waist and thrusts even deeper, both of them moaning in unison. It’s a move that he knows they both like, from years of exploring each other’s bodies, but their mouths still fall open in awe at the sensation.

She can feel herself starting to tremble and she lets go of all the sounds bottled up in her chest. Colin comes closer to her and puts his mouth on her neck, and she hears how ragged his breathing is also.

“I love you,” she whispers.

“I love you,” he whispers back.

And then she crashes beneath him, whimpering. His thrusts become more erratic and he soon follows close behind with a loud groan. She feels their bodies pulsating together.

Penelope looks at her husband’s face (her husband!) in awe as he ascends to the heavens and comes back down to earth on their bed. He rolls off to his side, eyes closed while he catches his breath. When he finally opens them she has a wide grin ready for him despite feeling as breathless as him. He extends his arms towards her for a cuddle, and she happily scoots over.

Colin closes the distance between them, sighing with pleasure as he kisses her. She hums in response, stroking his back.

“Good morning again to you, Mrs. B,” he says, rubbing their noses together.

“Good morning,” she giggles. “Breakfast? Or more like brunch, actually,” she says while craning her neck to look at the clock.

Colin nods.

“In bed,” he adds, burying his face in her neck.

Penelope can only laugh. For the next few hours she hardly thinks about anything else that could be happening outside their hotel room.
