The system shuts down, and so did Moondae

Summary:

Moondae might be one of those MCs who's self-control is truly the best. He reacts for only milliseconds then goes back to his resting bitch face. He's simply impenetrable. So, of course, him not holding anything back is a treat for the members. Not until they realized just how much he holds back about them.

Notes:

I was speedrunning this sht. So sorry for any inconsistencies, grammar errors and whatnots. It's 2am and I'm tired. Enjoy!

Work Text:

It was a big mistake to consume alcohol when you’re in the middle of surviving a system that’s trying to kill you.

As much as Moondae's self-control probably deserves a medal by now, if he ever got the chance to completely let loose, he wouldn't think twice about getting drunk as hell.

And although convinced he wouldn't get drunk, Moondae didn't bother holding back because of his status abnormality. But he only realized too late that the system had, once again, decided to play a dirty trick on him.

His Bacchus 500 was temporarily “disabled”.

So, here he was, in the middle of their shared living room in the dorms, blurting every single thing his mind comes up with.

This goddamn system.

----------------------

“I’m probably gonna… die because of some damn… system trying to kill me,” he slurred, his vision swimming as he knocked back another glass. “But if I actually wind up going back in time like that bastard said... I’ll find you guys again. Whatever it takes...”

Silence fell over the table and the group just stared at him like he’d lost his mind. Through the thick haze of alcohol, it took them a second to process his words. Assuming, almost in unison, that they must have misheard.

Keun Sejin snickered. “Moondae-Moondae’s too drunk, he’s saying nonsense.”

With his glazed eyes, Moondae turned to him instantly. “You… I really am happy I met you.” Keun Sejin’s body stilled at the sudden drunk statement. “You might be the only one who really gets me inside out. I did assume you were the druggie at first but you were just another different problem altogether.” Moondae chuckled inwardly. “I didn’t know you would be one of my best friends in this life.”

“Okay, I think that’s enough alcohol for you, Park Moondae.” Bae Sejin stood up from the floor and tried to gently pull Moondae up.

Since he was the only one remotely sober left, Bae Sejin decided it was time to call it a night. The moment he moved to get up, however, Park Moondae hauled him right back down, plopping Sejin’s entire weight squarely onto his lap.

“Hyung…” Moondae cooed, wrapping a pair of clingy arms tight around him.

With his mouth agape with joy, Eugene stared at his hyungs and mumbled under his breath, “[God, this is so funny.]” The red-haired menace scooted closer to the two. “Moondae hyung~ What do you think of Bae Sejin hyung?”

Everyone’s a bit buzzed in the head, but they couldn’t help but wait for his response.

Then, a dopey smile spreads across Moondae’s face. An expression that was really not something you would see on him.

The members immediately tuned in, more eager to see where this was going.

“You know your acting is superb, right? Whenever you nag, I feel like I’m the female lead in one of your dramas.” He chuckled softly to himself, as if enjoying a private joke. “I half-expect you to lift my chin and say something that’ll make my heart skip a beat.”

Everyone froze as Moondae suddenly tilted Bae Sejin’s chin up. “Like this, hyung.” Moondae offered him a heart-melting smile, sending a flush straight to the older man’s face.

Bae Sejin scrambled off Moondae’s lap and practically dove behind Chungwoo. “Ya! What the hell, Park Moondae?!” he yelled, his face still burning beet red.

A mix of stunned and amused expressions washed over the members' faces. It was official. Their usual Tibetan fox was long gone, replaced entirely by a guy running on pure, drunken instinct.

Eugene, naturally, was the first one to pounce on the opportunity. He leaned in close, fully expecting Moondae not to budge an inch, and he really didn't. Moondae just held his gaze, completely unbothered, making Eugene’s grin widen even further.

“Hyung~ [You’re super cute, you know that?]” Eugene cooed, refusing to back out of Moondae's personal space, practically vibrating with excitement. He tapped his own cheek, eyes gleaming. “[Can you give me a hug and a kiss right here?]”

“Hey! Hey! Cha Eugene!” Raebin tugged uselessly on Eugene’s arms, refusing to let go. “Moondae-hyung is heavily under the influence right now, which means his judgment is compromised and he can’t properly process what you’re asking!”

Still pulling with zero effect, Raebin pressed on, “As his members, our job should be making sure he gets proper rest, not taking advantage of his compromised state for hugs and kisses!” Eugene didn’t budge even a fraction of an inch.

To everyone’s utter shock, Moondae reached up and cupped Eugene’s cheeks, aiming straight for his lips instead. Before he could land it, Keun Sejin and Ahyeon lunged forward, grabbing Eugene’s head just in time to steer Moondae’s kiss harmlessly onto his cheek instead.

“[Hey! Not fair!] Hyung was right there!” Eugene whined, immediately trying to drag Moondae back in. “Do it again, hyung. That one didn’t count!”

Just as Moondae was about to try again, Keun Sejin grabbed Eugene by his collar and hauled him away.“Cut it out, man~ Moondae-moondae’s clearly out of it, and he’s going to kill us once he–” He choked on his words as warm lips pressed against his cheek instead. Specifically Moondae’s lips.

“Wha–!” Eugene stared at him in utter disbelief, looking at Keun Sejin like he’d just committed the ultimate betrayal.

The two Sejins were now the only ones left blushing beet red, gazing back at Moondae with completely indefinable expressions.

Ignoring Eugene’s whining right beside his ear, Keun Sejin slowly lifted a hand to palm his own cheek, still feeling the warmth Moondae left behind. “What the hell…” he muttered to himself.

The rest of the members could only stand by and watch. Raebin and Ahyeon were left slack-jawed, while Chungwoo maintained the same amused grin he’d been sporting ever since Moondae first opened his mouth.

“How was that?” Moondae asked hazily, looking up at the flushed Keun Sejin.

Still clutching his own cheek, the bear of a man could only gawk back at Moondae. “Huh?”

Without waiting for an answer, Moondae turned his attention to Ahyeon. The moment his eyes landed on him, his expression softened completely. “Want one too, Ahyeon-ah?” he asked, scooting over without hesitation.

"W-What?!" Ahyeon froze, completely stunned by Moondae’s directness. Glued to his place on the ground, he just sat there, watching Moondae lean in closer and closer.

But a hand reached out and cupped Moondae’s face, pulling him back from his next target. "Let’s call it a day, hm? Moondae-ah?" The leader’s voice was calm, but carried a quiet authority no one dared question.

Moondae stopped instantly, hooking his arms over the leader's shoulders, trapping Chungwoo in a sudden hug. Smiling softly, Chungwoo slid his arms around Moondae’s waist to support him.“Come on, everyone. Let’s wrap this up.” He then half-carried Moondae away toward their shared room.

Moondae’s drunken rambling echoed away down the corridor. Left behind, the group traded ridiculous glances. Some were still utterly baffled, a few looked hilariously jealous, but all of them knew one thing: their leader was simply built different.
