Chapter 1: First meeting

Chapter Text

The day San understood his fate could change,it was raining. Rain, thin and cold, was hitting the windows of their apartment, streaming down slowly on the glass. Wooyoung was still asleep, buried deep under the covers, and San stayed there, immobile for a few seconds, at their bedroom’s door. This scene wasn’t unfamiliar. Messy hair, slow breathing. This familiar presence, calming his alpha.

Since they discovered their bond, years ago, San always thought nothing could pull them apart. A bond was a promise. Two people. Forever. He walked to the bed and gently shook Wooyoung’s shoulder to wake him up. The young omega only groaned, eyes closed.

“You’re going to be late.” San said gently.

“Tell my boss that I’m dead.” He answered without opening his eyes.

San smiled softly, showing his dimples.

“You already used that excuse last week.” He chuckled.

“Does it still works ?” He asked sleepily.

“I hate to break it up to you but this excuse usually works once.” San answered.

This time, Wooyoung opened an eye, observing San with a tired expression.

“Then I’m really dead.” He answered and the alpha burst into laughters.

For a few seconds, everything’s was simple. Their apartment. Their routine. Their bond. Nothing could change that. Nothing. At least, that’s what they thought.

At the coffee shop, Wooyoung was the first one to notice the strange feeling in his chest. He suddenly stopped in his tracks, earning a few insults from the people behind him in line. San, who was walking beside him and noticed a little further that his lover wasn’t following him, frowned. He gently took his omega’s hand to go back in line.

”What’s wrong ?” The black haired man asked.

Wooyoung instinctively brought a hand to his chest.

”I don’t know.” He answered and gave a smile to ease the alpha’s worry.

His heartbeat was normal. Still, something seemed…different. Like a vibration. Nearly imperceptible. A few seconds later, San felt the same. His frown only deepened because he knew perfectly all the reactions of their bond. And this…this was a first.

“Wooyoung ?”

Before the omega could answer, someone ran into them.

”Sorry !” A voice said promptly.

A calm voice. San immediately looked down as a blonde haired omega kneeled to pick up his books. He didn’t look particularly striking,at first glance. Dark clothes. A bag which shoulder’s strap was slipping off as he carried his books. An embarrassed expression. Then he looked up at the couple, pushing his big rimmed glasses up his nose.

And the world stopped. Wooyoung’s heart missed a beat. San’s alpha instincts woke up brutally. But it wasn’t anger nor desire to protect. It was something else. Something he never felt before. The young omega stood up and bowed, cheeks slightly red.

”I’m so sorry ! I was in a hurry and I wasn’t watching where I was going.” He bowed again.

Wooyoung brought a hand to his neck, where San bit him many years ago, leaving behind a mark that never seen to fully take. It was burning. His omega seemed to recognize the other person as his bonded mate. He seemed confused as his eyes darted toward San. The alpha seemed just as lost, the twin mark also feeling hot against his neck. Somewhere, deep inside their bond, a third presence was calling.

For a few seconds, no one moved. People behind walked in front of them as they weren’t following the line. Some were already seated, oblivious to their little exchange. No one seemed to notice that San and Wooyoung’s world was shifting.  Them, on the other hand, seemed to only notice one thing: the stranger in front of them holding his books closer to his chest. The silence was long, embarrassing and as the other omega turned around, Wooyoung spoke.

”I’m Wooyoung !” He said stupidly. He felt his lover grab his biceps. He didn’t know what to do to hold back this unknown man.

The young male looked at him, surprised and stopped in his tracks.

”I’m Yeosang.” He said with a polite smile.

Yeosang. What a beautiful name. Wooyoung could feel San’s hand around his biceps, tightening its grip. Yeosang was looking at the alpha expectingly, probably waiting for him to introduce himself as well.

“San.” He said, using his lover’s arm as a stress ball.

”It hurts.” The omega winced and San let go immediately.

”Sorry.” He answered, unable to avert his gaze from Yeosang.

Something inside him was telling him to stay vigilant. To protect Wooyoung. To protect their bond. Because what was happening couldn’t be real. When Youngie tried to reach for Yeosang, the young omega took a step back. Even if he seemed pretty oblivious at the beginning, it looked that he also felt what happened earlier. The gesture seemed to hurt the other omega as he whined.

“What’s happening ?” Sangie asked, visibly troubled.

“You tell us ! What have you done to us ?” San asked protectively, pushing his omega behind his back.

”I.. I don’t know…” The young omega answered.

”What are you trying to do ?” The alpha asked as Yeosang took another step back.

”He told you he didn’t know !” Wooyoung said as he stepped away to face the other male.

”And you believe him ?”

The silence following was heavy.

“I’m not asking to believe me. I don’t even know you !” The blond said with tears in his eyes. He kneeled down to pick up the keys Wooyoung dropped when he pushed him and gave them to the other omega.

Their fingers touched. Wooyoung inhaled deeply. San felt a vibration. This same, strange sensation that started a few minutes ago passed through their bond. And for the first time since they knew each other, their bond answered someone else. San took a step back. Wooyoung seemed petrified. Yeosang wished he could disappear in the ground.

”You felt that ?” Youngie was the first to break the silence.

No one dared to answer. Because the answer was obvious.

Yes.

They felt that.
