Chapter One
When I open my eyes I can hear whistling coming from the kitchen. I'm confused for just a moment before I remember what day it is.
Chaos Cup Day.
The only day in the year is guaranteed Dad will have a good day. I smile to myself before turning over on my bed. Skandar is still asleep on his bed.
"Hey,Skar." I whisper over. He opens his eyes,blinking at the light coming through the curtains across the room. I grin at him.
"Hey Kenn." He says back.

About 15 minutes later we're both dressed and sitting at the kitchen table discussing the Chaos Cup,as Dad makes breakfast. "I'm telling you," I say, "Ema Templeton and Mountains Fear have a chance this year,Air Allied,exceptionally fast-" I get cut off as Skandar buts in "Aspen Mcgrath and New Age Frost are going to win,I swear!" We both laugh.
Dad places a plate of beans,eggs and toast each infront of us. "I'm sure they'll both do very well." He says smiling at us. Dad hardly smiles now.

Another hour later the three of us are in the living room listening to the commentary. "Rumour has it this is Alanna and Whispered Rapids last year in the race before retirement." One commentator states. "Tough race for a Water Weilder." The other says. "Federico Jones and Sunsets Blood are top favourites for this race." The commentators give the status for a few more unicorns and their riders before the race starts.
And then they are off.
Twenty-five unicorns come galloping put of the stalls. A few strides out their wings snap open. Then they are airborne.
"Mark and Ravens Demise instantly engage Asha and Oak Leaves Harmony in a sky battle and-Oh! Did you see that diamond axe flung by Asha! Poor Mark is out of the running this year." One commentator remarks.
Skandar and I lean forward in our seats,watching the television intently as Hillary Winters and Sharp Edged Lily send a an air attack at Fedrico and Sunsets Blood. The fire-allied pair block it with an earth shield before sending a fire ball back at the earth-allied pair. Hillary blocks it a second too late and gets pushed back a few spots in an attempt to dodge.
Sunsets Blood beats their wings catching up to Tom Nazari on Devils Own Tears and Alanna and Whispered Rapids to make it into third. Asha and Oak Leaves Harmony participate a sky battle with Ema Templeton.
"-And Asha and Oak Leaves Harmony are out of the running for this year after that spectacular display from Ema and Mountains Fear." The commentator-Tim I'm pretty sure his name is,to be honest I never paid attention. More interested in the unicorns-says,excitement growing.
"And Ema Templeton sends a massive wave charged with electricity straight for the top three and-ooo-hard luck Tom and Alanna,looks like this is not your year." Fedrico soars above the offending wave and whirls to face the air-weilder. "Come on Ema." I murmer. Fedrico sends multiple elemental attacks in quick succession, pushing Ema all the way back to eleventh place.
"And Fedrico lands,racing for the finsish line! Jackie and Volcanic Voyage close on his tail but-oh..OH!" The commentators voice rises as Fedrico and Sunsets Blood race under the finishing arch,followed by Jackie Ryan and Volacanic Voyage three seconds later. Followed shortly by Ally Connor and Blizzards Reckoning.
Skandar,Dad and I cheer in delight.
Ema Templeton ended up coming in tenth while Aspen Mcgrath ended in twelfth.
