Buck, Eddie, Chris and Theo are in the market, getting their weekly shopping done. Buck and Eddie always enjoyed doing their weekly shopping together. More so now that Eddie finally came out as gay, and him and Buck are now in a relationship, raising their sons together. Eddie and Chris had even moved into Buck’s place with him and Theo once Eddie’s lease was up on Bedford Street, reasoning that they did not want to waste any more time apart.
They were in the pasta aisle and Buck and Chris were debating on what pasta would be better for dish that Buck was making for dinner tonight. Eddie was over it and decided that he would go and get the milk and eggs that they also needed.
“While you two argue about what pasta to get, I’m going to go and grab the milk and eggs that we need” Eddie said while starting to walk away.
Of course, since he was Theo’s favorite person this week, Theo insisted on going with him.
“I want to go with Eddie” Theo said, trying to climb out of the cart that Buck had put him in when they started shopping.
“Only if you promise to hold Eddie’s hand the whole time and not try to run away from him.” Buck told him.
“I promise.” Theo said with the most innocent face.
Buck took Theo out of the cart, and he ran over to Eddie, holding his hand up so Eddie could take it.
“Alright Spiderman, let’s go and get some milk and eggs while your brother and Buck argue over pasta.”
Buck and Chris were back at it before they got out of the aisle.
“Chris, I know that Rigatoni is better for a Bolognese sauce, but Penne is easier for Theo to eat.”
“But you could always cut the Rigatoni up into smaller pieces for Theo so that it easier for him to eat.”
“You Know he doesn’t like it when I cut up his pasta. He likes to eat his whole, like his big brother.”
“Yeah, I guess he does. Alright fine, we can get the Penne this time.” Chris says like it’s a big hardship for him. Secretly he loves that Theo looks up to him so much.
After putting the box of pasta in the cart, Buck went to get a can of whole tomatoes when he heard a voice that hopped to never hear again calling his name from behind him.
“Evan? I thought that was you. Long time no see.” Tommy said as he walked towards Buck.
“H – Hey Tommy. It has been a while. H – how have you been?” Buck asked trying to be polite.
“I’ve been good. How have you been?”
“Yeah, I’ve been good.”
“Well, you certainly look good.” Tommy said looking Buck up and down like he wanted to eat him alive right there in the store.
“Ugh, thanks?” Buck said while taking a small step back away from Tommy.
It was at that time that Christopher cleared his throat, letting Tommy know that Buck was not alone. Tommy finally looked over noticing Chris standing there for the first time.
“Oh, hey Chris. I didn’t even see you standing there.”
“Clearly.” Chris said unimpressed while raising a brow at Tommy.
“I heard that you and your dad were back in L.A. How long have you two been back?”
“A little over a year now.”
“Oh ok. I also heard that you, Evan, moved out of Eddie’s house and into your own place.” Tommy said turning his attention back to Buck and forgetting about Chris. “Maybe I can come over and see it sometime. You can give a tour like the last time.” Tommy said, looking Buck up and down again.
Chris made a face like he was about to gag at what Tommy was suggesting. Right before Buck could respond to Tommy, Theo came running down the aisle calling out Buck’s name with Eddie right behind him.
“Buck! Buck! Eddie got the right eggs this time.” Theo said, crashing into Buck’s legs.
“I always get the right eggs___” Eddie was saying as he walked up until he saw who Buck was talking to. Then his smile immediately left his face.
“Kinard” Eddie said, already over this little run in.
“Diaz” Tommy replied, not even trying to hide the fact that he was not happy to see Eddie there with Buck.
Meanwhile Buck picked Theo up and put him back in the cart.
“Are you sure that Eddie got the right eggs this time?”
“Yes, I’m sure.” Theo answered. Then turning to Tommy, “Who are you?”
Tommy turned, finally noticing Theo now that he was back in the cart.
“I’m a friend of Evan’s.” Tommy said staring at Theo. “Evan, who is this kid?” Tommy asked, turning to look at Buck.
“Who’s Evan?” Theo asked scrunching up his face.
“I’m Evan.” Buck answered Theo.
“No, you’re not. You’re Buck.” Theo insisted.
“Theo, remember I told you that my real name is Evan, but all of my friends call me Buck.”
Theo had to think for a minute, tapping his finger to his chin.
“Oh yeah. I remember.” Theo said. Then he looked at Tommy, “You’re not a friend of Buck’s because all his friends call him Buck. You’re just some weird old man.”
Buck just put his head down while Eddie and Chris tried to hold in their laughs. Tommy, getting upset, turned back to Buck.
“Evan, who is this rude child?”
Before Buck could think to answer and before Eddie could tell Tommy off, Chris answered for him.
“That’s Buck and dad’s son and my little brother, Theo.” Chris said with a big, innocent smile on his face.
Eddie smiled at the look on Tommy’s face at what Chris had just said. God, he loves this kid. Buck just looked at Chirs like he couldn’t believe how easily that came out of Chris’ mouth.
“What?” Chris asked as he shrugged his shoulder. “He is you and dad’s son and my little brother. You literally just said so yourself.”
Buck turned back to answer Tommy himself.
“What he said. This is Theo, mine and Eddie’s son and Chris’ little brother.”
Tommy tried to hide the disappointment on his face at hearing while looking back and for the between Buck, Eddie and the two young boys.
“So, you and Eddie are___?”
Once again before Buck could answer Eddie stepped up and placed his arm around Buck’s waist after putting the milk and eggs in the cart.
“Yes, Buck and I are happily together. It took us some time, but we finally figured it out. And best believe, unlike all the others, I have no intention of ever letting him go.”
Eddie said that last part while looking right at Tommy. Buck couldn’t help the blush that was creeping up his cheeks. He loved it when Eddie got all possessive. Then Chris chimed in again.
“Oh, and that house that you were asking to be given a tour of, yeah, we all live there now, together. One big happy family!”
“Wow! I guess Diaz really was my competition? Right Evan?” Tommy asked, looking right at Buck.
“Kinard, please! There was no competition. I already won and I wasn’t even playing the game.” Eddie said, stepping between Buck and Tommy.
“Whatever! I hope you two have the life you deserve.” Tommy said turning to walk away.
“Bye Mr. Old Man!” Theo yelled out.
“And for God’s sake, teach that kid some manners.”
Eddie was about to respond when Theo, bless his little heart yelled out,
“I have manners. I said Mr.”
At that, Chris could not hold his laugh in anymore and bust out laughing. Eddie was having a hard time holding in his laugh as well while Buck tried to reprimand Theo. Theo was just happy that he got his big brother and his Eddie to laugh.
Tommy just turned and walked away, mumbling about rude kids.
Once all the laughter died down Chris asked,
“Now that that horror show is over, can we please finish shopping so we can go home? I’m getting hungry.”
“Yeah, me too.” Theo added on.
“Come on Carino. Let’s finish up here so we can take our kids home and feed them.” Eddie said while kissing Buck on his cheek.
They did just that, without given Tommy Kinard another thought.
