Chapter Text
The irritation would have been easier to dismiss if Lord Ashbourne were less conspicuous.
Minho had reached thirty-four with the kind of beauty that had only become more difficult with age, with high cheekbones, a straight nose, dark eyes that narrowed almost feline when he was amused, and a mouth that seemed severe until it curved into the small, private smile Jisung saw far more often than society did.
He was not a towering man, but he carried compact strength through his shoulders, chest, and arms, the result of riding, fencing, and an irritating refusal to let servants perform every physical task on his estate.
Time had settled into him in subtler ways too, faint lines at the corners of his eyes when he genuinely laughed, a steadiness in his expression, the self-possession of a man who had already survived grief and public expectation and learned which parts of himself belonged to other people and which did not.
That alone would have made him desirable. His title and fortune made him unbearable.
The Lees had held Ashbourne for three generations, one of several Korean-descended families long woven into the aristocracy of this particular Britain.
Minho's grandfather had been raised to the peerage after decades spent between British and Joseon courts, and by the time Minho inherited, the Lee name was no more exotic in London drawing rooms than Kim, Cho, Han, or any of the older English houses.
Society had found something else to gossip about instead, namely the handsome young earl who had married dutifully, loved his wife sincerely, lost her to illness, and then declined for nearly eleven years to replace her.
Society had interpreted grief as mystery and mystery as invitation, a romantic equation Jisung wished, with increasing fervor, everyone would stop solving in Minho's direction. Across the ballroom, Lady Seoyeon Kim was dancing with Minho.
Having known Seoyeon since childhood did not help. Their mothers had spent the better part of a decade exchanging invitations, and for three miserable months Jisung had even shared a music master with her before the poor man concluded that neither pupil respected scales sufficiently.
Intelligent, pleasant, and infuriatingly lovely in pale blue silk, she would have been easier to resent if she had possessed the courtesy to be silly. Instead she moved gracefully through the quadrille, smiling up at Minho while he answered something she had said, apparently cured of the conviction she had held at seventeen that dancing was tedious.
Beside him, his mother did not immediately comment, which was considerably worse than commentary. Mrs. Han had dressed him herself that evening, rejecting one coat for washing the warmth from his complexion and another for broadening his shoulders too heavily before settling on black superfine tailored close through his slim torso and narrow waist.
Soft white linen circled his throat in a looser, more decorative knot than most young gentlemen favored, with restrained lace spilling at collar and cuffs and a dark green stone catching candlelight at his cravat.
Brushed smoothly away from his face, his black hair remained a little longer at the nape, where the soft ends grazed his collar and sharpened the contrast with his warm, unblemished skin, straight refined brows, elongated dark eyes, delicate nose, and naturally plush mouth that always seemed one breath away from a pout.
Unlike several young men of his acquaintance, Jisung had never understood why prettiness ought to be received as an insult. If God had given him a face people enjoyed looking at, refusing to enjoy it himself seemed rather ungrateful. At present, however, the soft pout his features suggested even in repose had become entirely genuine.
His mother noticed his champagne glass before she mentioned anything else. “You do not like that.”
Jisung glanced down as though surprised to find it in his hand. “I know.”
“Then why are you drinking it?”
For one hopeful second he considered claiming newly sophisticated tastes, until he remembered she had heard him complain about the same champagne less than fifteen minutes earlier.
Without dignifying the matter with an answer, Jisung surrendered the cold-stemmed glass when she extended one elegant hand, and she exchanged it with a passing footman for lemonade, and for a little while neither of them said anything more.
Then the dance turned and Seoyeon rested her fingertips briefly against Minho's sleeve as the set changed position. Jisung's grip tightened around his replacement glass. His mother followed his gaze. “You knew Lady Seoyeon still danced?”
The question was so ordinary that he looked at her suspiciously. “She used to hate it.”
“People change.”
“She said the quadrille made her feel like furniture being rearranged.”
Mrs. Han made a soft sound behind her fan, suspiciously close to a laugh. When Jisung turned on her, she lowered the painted silk with perfect composure and reminded him, before he could accuse her of anything, that at eighteen he had described country dances in almost exactly the same terms.
The comparison was irrelevant, or at least Jisung chose to consider it so. Turning back toward the polished dance floor before his mother could see that he possessed no useful reply, he fixed his attention on the moving sets of silk, dark coats, jeweled hair, and gloved hands.
Almost immediately, Minho looked over, though nothing about the glance was dramatic. A man who had survived society as long as Minho had did not openly stare at his secret lover across a crowded ballroom.
His dark, watchful gaze merely passed over the room and lingered on Jisung a fraction longer than coincidence required, enough for Jisung to catch the subtle sharpening in his expression that always appeared when Minho sensed something was wrong. With an unreasonable prickle of satisfaction at having been noticed, Jisung looked away first.
A pair of older women nearby were speaking with exactly the carrying softness of people who believed themselves discreet.
“It is good to see Ashbourne dancing again,” said Lady Cho, a widow who knew nearly everyone's business and considered this a form of public service. “For years he would hardly remain in a ballroom long enough to finish supper.”
The Countess of Hawthorne, Seoyeon's mother, watched the dancers with mild satisfaction. “He was very young when he lost Lady Ashbourne.”
“Twenty-four?”
“Near enough. They had scarcely begun their life together.”
For a brief and unwilling moment, Jisung's irritation softened. He knew about Minho's first wife, though never more than Minho chose to offer when an old memory surfaced naturally between them. Jisung had no interest in worrying at grief merely to satisfy curiosity. She had been kind, Minho had told him.
He had been fond of her before their marriage, had loved her within it, and losing her so young had rearranged something permanent in him. None of that threatened Jisung. Love did not become counterfeit merely because another, different love came later, and he had no desire to make a rival of a dead woman who had once made Minho happy.
The living, however, continued to test his generosity.
Lady Cho said, “One hopes he might marry again. Ashbourne is too fine a house to go on without a countess forever.”
Beside him, Mrs. Han went very still, while Jisung dropped his gaze to the gleaming ballroom floor and studied the reflection of candlelight in the polished wood with sudden, unnecessary concentration.
The Countess of Hawthorne sighed. “He is under less pressure than an unmarried man would be. Everyone knows he fulfilled his duty once, and his cousin stands perfectly ready in the succession. Still, it would be a pleasure to see the house lively again.” Lively. Lee House was lively enough whenever Jisung was there.
Perhaps not according to society. Society did not know that Jisung had left three books in Minho's library, a silk scarf in his dressing room, and a pair of slippers beside the bed in the adjoining blue chamber because he had once changed there and forgotten to take them home.
Society did not know that he had opinions about the hideous brown curtains in the library or that the writing desk in the morning room was placed badly for afternoon light. Society certainly did not know that he had asked Minho, more than once now, why the adjoining blue chamber should remain empty when Jisung could simply occupy it permanently.
Minho had never actually said no, and that was almost the problem.
There was time, Minho had said, with maddening gentleness. At twenty-two Jisung need not hurry himself into another man's household simply because he was in love.
People would talk, servants saw considerably more than employers liked to imagine, and an unmarried young gentleman taking permanent rooms beside a widowed earl would become a story whether or not anyone ever dared voice the story plainly.
Most infuriating of all, Minho insisted that Jisung deserved the chance to possess an adult life entirely his own before folding it into somebody else's.
Every argument was thoughtful, responsible, and transparently rooted in love, which only made Jisung resent nearly every word more fiercely.
Jisung required no instruction in his own age, in the shape gossip took when spoken behind fans and over teacups, or in what people would infer from his permanent presence at Lee House.
What he could not seem to make Minho understand was that preserving an escape route Jisung had never requested increasingly felt less like protection and more like expectation, as though Minho believed, somewhere beneath all that careful reason, that one day Jisung would need to use it.
Across the crowded floor Seoyeon smiled at something Minho said, and Jisung drank his tart lemonade with enough force to send a cube of ice clicking sharply against his front teeth.
His mother finally glanced at him. “You are going to chip one.” He lowered the glass.
“You have been quiet,” she added.
“I am at a ball.”
“That has not historically prevented you from speaking your mind, frivolous or otherwise.”
Offended despite himself, Jisung finally looked at her and caught the faint amusement warming her dark eyes. She declined to pursue the observation, a restraint so suspiciously merciful that he narrowed his own eyes before turning away again.
When the quadrille ended, Minho bowed to Seoyeon and received her delicate curtsy before the Countess of Hawthorne intercepted him at the edge of the floor, Lady Cho joining them almost immediately.
From across the room Jisung watched Minho settle into the courteous, unreadable smile he wore for society, and the sight must have betrayed more than he intended because his mother leaned closer and quietly suggested that he take some air. Jisung turned on her at once. “I never said I needed air.”
“No.” She adjusted the lace at his cuff as though that were the only reason she had spoken. “But I suspect the conservatory is less crowded.”
There were several questions Jisung could have asked. He asked none of them. Instead he handed her his lemonade and escaped.
The conservatory was cooler, quiet enough that the orchestra became little more than vibration behind glass. Moonlight lay in silver strips across the tile floor and the leaves of citrus trees, while a small fountain ticked gently in the center of the room. Jisung went to the nearest casement and worked at its latch until fresh night air touched his face.
He had been alone for less than a minute when the conservatory door opened behind him. Minho did not announce himself. After months of stolen meetings Jisung knew the measured cadence of his step, the slight pause before a doorway, and the quiet way he entered a room. Even so, Jisung kept his attention fixed stubbornly on the cool brass window latch beneath his fingers.
For several seconds Minho said nothing. He came to stand a little behind and to Jisung's left, close enough for Jisung to feel his presence without creating a scene should anyone enter unexpectedly.
“Your mother sent me in this direction,” he said at last.
Jisung's fingers paused on the latch. “Did she.”
“She was very precise.”
Of course she had been. Silence gathered again between them, an easy instrument in Minho's rough hands and a form of torture in Jisung's, who could endure perhaps half a minute of it before his own thoughts became louder than whatever he had hoped not to say.
“You danced with Seoyeon.”
The sentence escaped before he had decided to speak. Minho's expression did not change much, but Jisung saw recognition settle into it. “I did.”
“She hates quadrilles.”
That, apparently, was not the accusation Minho expected. His brows shifted. “Does she?”
“She did when we were younger.” Jisung heard how ridiculous he sounded and pressed his lips together. “It does not matter.”
Minho leaned one shoulder against the stone between the windows. He did not smile. That helped.
Jisung stared into the dark garden. “Lady Cho thinks you should marry again.” Minho's attention sharpened.
“And Lady Hawthorne thinks your house would be livelier with a countess. There was a great deal of concern for the state of your domestic arrangements.” His voice began to move faster despite his intention to stay calm. “Apparently a housekeeper is insufficient. A woman is required. Preferably someone accomplished and graceful who enjoys dancing after all.”
“Jisung.”
“No.” He turned at last. “I know you did nothing wrong. I know Seoyeon did nothing wrong. I know what a dance is, and I know people speak because they have nothing better to do. I am not frightened you will suddenly marry her because she touched your sleeve.”
Minho only watched him, and the absence of an argument stripped away Jisung's easier anger far more effectively than contradiction would have. When he spoke again, the words came smaller, the sharp edge worn down to something embarrassingly close to hurt.
“I am tired of being the only person who has to behave as if none of it concerns me.”
The music beyond the conservatory swelled and faded. Lowering his gaze, Jisung worried one thumb over the fine lace fringing his opposite wrist until the delicate threads caught against his nail. “They are allowed to imagine who belongs in your house. They can decide who ought to wake beside you, sit at your table, manage your servants, wear your title.
And I have to stand there as if I have no more opinion on the matter than the footman carrying the wine.”
Whatever private amusement had followed him into the conservatory disappeared completely, and in its place came the concentrated stillness Jisung knew well. Minho's deep brown eyes fixed wholly on him, his handsome face stripped of indulgence and social polish until nothing remained but attention.
“And then,” Jisung continued, “I tell you I want to live with you, and you explain why I ought to wait.”
Minho drew a slow breath but did not interrupt, and somehow being permitted to continue without resistance made the vulnerable admission more difficult rather than less.
“I know what you mean when you say it. You think you are protecting me. You think because I am younger I may wake up in five years and discover I made my whole life too small around you. But I am not asking you to choose for me. I am asking you to believe me when I tell you what I have chosen.”
He had not intended to expose so much of the tender thing beneath his jealousy. Heat climbed from the open collar of his cravat into his cheeks and ears, fed equally by anger and the peculiar humiliation of realizing Minho could now see the hurt in its entirety.
Minho looked toward the closed conservatory doors, then back at him. “If I answer you properly here, I am going to forget where we are.”
Jisung blinked, caught off guard by an answer so characteristically Minho that some of the pressure in his chest shifted despite himself. It was not quite a joke. Minho had delivered it with complete sincerity, more warning than flirtation, which somehow made the warmth rising beneath Jisung's irritation worse.
“I am still angry,” he muttered.
“I know.”
Minho's hand, with the rough palm of a working man despite his pedigree, moved as though he meant to touch him, then stopped in the space between them. He was always maddeningly careful in public.
Jisung's gaze dropped to the calloused hand suspended uselessly between them, close enough to imagine against his skin and too carefully restrained to touch. Minho followed his eyes, understood, and said very quietly, “Later.”
The single word warmed Jisung far more effectively than it should have. He turned back to the window so Minho would not see. By midnight, irritation had become purpose.
• • •
Their hosts had put Minho and Jisung in rooms along the same upper corridor, separated by enough doors to preserve appearances and not enough to inconvenience anyone determined to ignore them. The house had gone mostly quiet when Jisung slipped into Minho's bedchamber without knocking.
Before the dressing table, Minho stood halfway through untying his cravat, the loosened white linen caught between his blunt, capable fingers when Jisung's reflection appeared over his shoulder. He went still.
Jisung had already abandoned his coat and waistcoat in his own chamber and arrived in shirtsleeves, fitted breeches, stockings, and a cravat hanging untidily at his throat. Freed from its careful evening arrangement, his black hair had fallen forward at the temples while the longer ends curled softly against his nape.
Without the severe polish of formal dress, his slim figure and refined features looked younger, softer, and, judging by the sudden focus in Minho's reflected eyes, considerably more dangerous to the earl's concentration. Minho turned at last, and for once neither of them seemed inclined to fill the silence immediately.
Jisung crossed the room, shut the door behind himself, and slid the bolt. Minho's eyes dropped to the lock, then returned to Jisung's face.
“You were right,” Jisung said.
“About?”
“I did not finish being angry.”
Something almost like amusement passed through Minho's eyes, but he had learned from the conservatory and did not let it reach his mouth.
Jisung came closer. His pulse was loud in his ears. Boldness was much easier to imagine alone than to sustain with Minho looking directly at him, and for a moment the old instinct rose, to soften the demand, laugh it away, wait for Minho to take over as he usually did.
The ballroom flashed through Jisung's mind, bringing back Seoyeon's gloved fingers on dark wool, Lady Cho's casual speculation, the endless, infuriating not yet. Before shyness could reclaim him, he planted both slender hands against Minho's broad, solid chest and pushed.
Minho yielded without resistance, taking two controlled steps backward until the backs of his knees met the mattress and he sank onto the edge of the bed, dark eyes never leaving Jisung's face.
That quiet compliance affected Jisung more sharply than resistance would have, heat curling low through his stomach as Minho studied him with none of the teasing Jisung had half expected. “Tell me what you want.” The directness dried Jisung's mouth, but the absence of mockery steadied him enough to answer.
“I want you to stay where I put you.” He heard the breathlessness in his own voice and hated it. “And I do not want you deciding I have had enough because I become shy halfway through saying it.”
Minho's gaze darkened. “All right.” The answer was immediate. Stepping into the space between Minho's parted knees, Jisung caught the older man's sharply handsome face between both palms and kissed him with enough force for their teeth to click.
A low, startled sound vibrated from Minho's throat as his broad hands rose automatically toward Jisung's narrow waist, but before those familiar calloused palms could settle, Jisung caught both wrists and pressed them firmly into the rumpled coverlet beside Minho's hips. Minho looked at their hands, then at him.
“Leave them there.”
For the first time, Minho smiled. It was small, though not mocking, and somehow that was more dangerous. Jisung flushed all the way to the tips of his ears.
“Do not make me regret this.”
“I won't.” Minho's voice had gone lower. “Go on.”
Climbing onto the high mattress, Jisung settled astride Minho's lap until their bodies met from chest to thigh, his narrow waist bracketed by Minho's restrained forearms and the older man's broader, harder torso radiating warmth through thin linen. This kiss was slower.
With his mouth moving deliberately against Minho's, Jisung could feel the controlled tension held through every compact muscle beneath him. Minho could have reversed their positions with embarrassing ease, and knowing he had deliberately chosen not to made Jisung's borrowed authority feel more substantial, not less.
With impatient fingers, Jisung opened Minho's shirt himself, each small button giving way until pale skin emerged beneath the linen and then the familiar, compact planes of a muscled chest and abdomen.
Minho's body carried age in small ways Jisung loved rather than feared, including thicker strength through his torso and shoulders, a faint trail of dark hair below his navel, old silvered marks earned from riding and fencing, and the slight natural softness laid over power by a thirty-four-year-old man who ate well and had long since stopped caring whether his body resembled a carved statue.
Jisung shoved the loosened shirt down over Minho's broad shoulders, and Minho, watching him with increasing interest, simply lifted his arms and let the garment fall away. Then Jisung worked open the fall of Minho's breeches.
By the time Jisung worked open the fall of his breeches, Minho was already fully hard. The heavy length of his cock sprang free against Jisung's waiting palm, thick and flushed from root to darkened head, a clear sheen already gathering at the slit. Familiarity had done remarkably little to blunt the effect of the sight.
Jisung's thoughts scattered for one humiliating second before his slim fingers closed almost automatically around the hot, rigid shaft. Minho inhaled through his nose.
Drawing his slickening grip from the thick root to the swollen head, Jisung watched the hard muscles of Minho's abdomen tighten beneath candlelight. The second stroke was slower, deliberately so, his thumb dragging across the wet crown until a fresh bead of precome glazed the pad of his finger.
“You looked very calm tonight,” Jisung murmured.
Minho's eyes stayed on his face. “I was at a ball.”
“Mm.” Jisung stroked him again. “Everyone thought you were calm.”
He liked the private contradiction of it, the immaculate earl from downstairs already hard in his fist, shirt open, hair beginning to fall across his brow.
Minho understood what he was thinking. His mouth changed, not quite a smile.
Jisung squeezed the base of his cock just firmly enough to stop whatever comment might have followed.
“Nothing clever,” he said.
Minho's brows lifted, but he obeyed. Undressing himself proved considerably less elegant. One wrist snagged in his shirt cuff, forcing Jisung to wrestle the fine linen over his head with a muffled, irritated sound that made Minho's rough hands rise on instinct, but a single warning glance sent those broad, helpful hands back to the mattress before they could rescue him.
By the time the last of his clothes landed in an untidy heap, the curtained bedchamber felt considerably warmer. Amber candlelight moved over Jisung's smooth, honey-warm skin, tracing the lean line from narrow ribs into an even narrower waist before softening over the fuller shape of his thighs and the rounded curve of his backside.
Beside Minho's compact muscularity he looked more delicately made, but never frail, long-limbed, supple, and graceful until stubbornness straightened his spine and put a challenge into the set of his shoulders. Minho looked at him openly now.
Usually that kind of attention made Jisung cover himself or crawl closer just to hide. Tonight he forced himself to stay still and let Minho look. The effort lasted perhaps ten seconds. Then his face heated and he turned toward the bedside table. Minho, mercifully, said nothing.
They were established lovers, so the small bottle of almond oil in the drawer required no discussion. Jisung poured some over his palm and returned to Minho, coating the hard length of him until his hand slid easily from base to head. Minho's breathing deepened. Jisung liked watching control leave him by degrees rather than in a single dramatic break. The quiet breath.
The tightening fingers against the sheet. The almost imperceptible lift of his hips into Jisung's fist.
Bending between Minho's spread thighs, Jisung brushed his plush mouth over the slick head, tasting salt beneath the almond oil, then took just enough of the thick length onto his tongue to hear Minho's breath catch before withdrawing with deliberate cruelty. Minho's eyes opened. Jisung smiled despite himself.
“That was cruel,” Minho said.
There was no ready-made comeback in Jisung's head, only satisfaction. “Good.” He reached between his own thighs and began preparing himself.
Ordinarily Minho did this. Jisung liked pretending he did not need the patience, but he loved the attention of it, especially Minho's thick fingers slick and slow, the constant watching of his face, the way Minho would stop at the smallest tension and wait until Jisung relaxed again. Tonight, however, handing that part over felt like giving up the point before he had made it.
Slick with almond oil, the first slender finger entered easily, while the second drew a quieter breath from him and forced his tense thighs to relax. By the time he worked in a third, his own cock lay fully hard against his lower stomach, the flushed tip wet while his fingers pressed deeper in patient, circling motions.
Carefulness lasted only until he brushed the sensitive place inside that made his breath fracture and his hips chase his own hand despite himself. Minho's hands tightened in the sheets, and Jisung looked up.
That was enough to make Minho glance away for a second, as though he had been caught doing something indecent rather than lying naked on a bed while his lover prepared himself to ride him.
The absurdity almost made Jisung laugh. Instead he crawled back over him.
Rising onto his knees again, Jisung wrapped one slick hand around Minho's heavy cock, guided the swollen head carefully to his loosened entrance, and began to lower himself.
The first blunt pressure was familiar and no less demanding for it. Once the broad head breached him, Jisung stopped, eyelashes lowering as he breathed through the immediate stretch before accepting another slow inch. Every trace of amusement had disappeared from Minho's face.
His jaw was tight and powerful body held unnaturally still beneath him, he watched Jisung with the fierce concentration of a man resisting the instinct to steady, guide, or help without permission.
Jisung lowered himself until the trembling in his thighs forced him to stop halfway, eyes closing while he breathed through the stretch. He felt rather than saw Minho's calloused hand lift a fraction from the sheet, the instinct to steady him nearly winning out. “Stay,” Jisung managed, and the hovering hand settled obediently back into the rumpled linen.
Drawing one deep breath after another, Jisung waited until the taut resistance of his body softened, then sank lower. Inch by deliberate inch Minho filled him, thick heat and pressure spreading through his pelvis until the soft curve of Jisung's backside finally settled against the tops of Minho's strong thighs and there was nowhere farther to descend.
For several seconds neither of them moved while the dense, almost dizzying fullness settled through Jisung, his stretched body clenching reflexively around the cock buried to its root.
Bracing both delicate palms against Minho's warm, solid chest, he opened his eyes and found the older man already looking more affected than a single movement ought to have allowed, composure thinning around the edges of his dark gaze.
The sight gave Jisung enough courage to lift himself until only the broad head remained inside before sinking all the way down again, drawing an audible breath from Minho as their hips met.
On the second stroke he began to find the rhythm he wanted, lifting until only the broad head remained inside before sinking all the way back down to the warm meeting of their hips. Every measured rise dragged the thick shaft along nerves already made tender by his fingers, while each descent jostled his own hard cock against his stomach.
Heat gathered with alarming speed, yet Jisung deliberately refused to hurry. This was not one of their frantic couplings after too many days apart. Tonight he wanted to watch Minho come apart beneath him in stages, and he intended to preserve enough control afterward to continue.
Minho tried to keep his hips still at first. He failed within minutes.
The first upward thrust met Jisung halfway down and drove Minho deeper than Jisung expected, punching a startled sound from him. His hands flew to Minho's shoulders. Minho immediately went still.
“Too much?”
Jisung shook his head, breathing hard. “Again. Just, do not take over.”
Something in Minho's expression softened at the last three words. He nodded.
They found a shared rhythm after that, Jisung controlling the pace from above while Minho met him only when allowed. The room filled with small sounds, including the slap of skin, the creak of the mattress, Jisung's increasingly uneven breaths. Minho stayed quieter, but Jisung knew his tells. The way his fingers curled into the coverlet. The flush climbing his chest.
The sudden tension in his abdomen whenever Jisung tightened around him on purpose.
Jisung leaned forward and whispered against his ear, “They all think they can have you.” Minho's eyes closed.
“I know they cannot.” Jisung's voice shook with exertion now, but the anger underneath it remained. “That is not the point.”
He rode him harder. Minho's hips answered before he could stop them.
Jisung felt the change almost immediately. Minho was getting close. His thrusts lost precision, becoming shorter and more instinctive. The hand he had kept obediently at his side finally clenched around Jisung's thigh without permission. Jisung let him keep it there.
“Look at me.”
Minho did. Jisung could feel the heat painted across his own face, could feel damp strands of black hair falling into his eyes and the helpless parting of his plush lips around every breath. Ordinarily the naked intensity in Minho's gaze would have sent him searching for somewhere to hide his face.
Tonight the shy instinct surfaced, faltered, and lost to the stubborn anger keeping his chin lifted.
Minho came with his eyes fixed on him, the first hard pulse of his cock inside Jisung distinct enough to feel before another followed and thick heat spilled deep. His whole body tightened beneath Jisung, rough fingers digging almost bruisingly into one thigh while his head tipped back against the pillow and a low, broken sound left his parted mouth.
Jisung slowed through the final contractions but did not stop, but before Minho had done more than drag in a few uneven breaths, he lifted himself again. Dark eyes opened at the movement, registering what Jisung intended only a heartbeat before Jisung sank back down around him.
The reaction was immediate. Minho jerked beneath him, hand flying to Jisung's hip.
“Jisung.”
It was not a warning yet, more disbelief. Jisung moved again. Only slightly softened after release, Minho's spent cock remained firm enough to drag against newly oversensitive nerves with every slow movement.
Each time Jisung lifted, fresh warmth slipped from his stretched entrance, slicking the thick base beneath him and running messily along the soft inner lines of his thighs.
Minho stared up at him, disbelief gradually giving way to understanding. “You meant it.” Jisung's thighs were already beginning to burn, but the realization on Minho's face sent a warm, vicious thread of satisfaction through him. “I told you,” he breathed, and resumed the rhythm before Minho could gather himself enough to answer.
The second round was nothing like the first. Minho's body no longer accepted every sensation easily. Pleasure came sharpened by hypersensitivity, so that movements which had made him groan before now made his abdomen jump and his jaw clench. Jisung learned quickly.
He shortened the strokes, rolled his hips instead of lifting as high, kept Minho buried deep while grinding against him. Every time Minho's body tried to pull away from sensation, Jisung slowed rather than stopping, coaxing him back toward it.
The dynamic intoxicated him. Minho was usually the one who knew Jisung's body well enough to lead him through too much pleasure, who could tell the difference between Jisung's dramatic complaints and a real request to stop. Tonight Jisung was the one reading him. Watching. Adjusting. Discovering that Minho's composure could be dismantled patiently instead of violently.
At some point Minho's warm, calloused hands closed around Jisung's narrow waist, not directing him so much as holding him upright. Jisung allowed it as the sustained motion had begun to burn through his thighs, and the steady pressure of those strong palms gave his trembling legs something to work against.
“You are shaking,” Minho murmured.
Jisung ignored that.
“Jisung.”
“I heard you.” He leaned forward, forehead nearly touching Minho's. “I am not stopping because my thighs hurt.”
Minho breathed out, something between affection and disbelief. “Of course you aren't.”
The words could have been teasing from anyone else. From Minho they sounded almost fond enough to undo him. Jisung kissed him to avoid that problem.
His own climax caught him during the kiss. The pressure had been building almost unnoticed beneath his concentration until one particular grind pressed Minho against the right place inside him while his own cock rubbed between their stomachs.
Jisung broke from Minho's mouth with a gasp and came across both of them, hot spurts streaking Minho's abdomen and Jisung's hand where it had braced between them. For several seconds his body clenched helplessly around Minho. Minho groaned into his neck. Jisung nearly collapsed.
Instead he remained seated through the aftershocks, trembling against Minho while one broad palm traveled slowly up his back. By the time Jisung's breathing steadied enough for thought, the body inside him had hardened fully again. An involuntary smile curved against Minho's shoulder, and the stroking hand paused as soon as Minho felt it.
Jisung lifted his head to find recognition already settling across the older man's face. The weary sigh that followed pleased him far more than it should have, and, without wasting the advantage on another exchange, he began moving again.
The second climax took longer from Minho. Jisung could feel the difference in him through the involuntary flinches when stimulation became too sharp, the way arousal rose and fell instead of climbing steadily.
Jisung slowed when he needed to, sometimes remaining fully seated and circling his hips until Minho's breathing deepened again, sometimes lifting only a few inches and sinking back down with deliberate pressure.
By the time Minho came again, his restraint had disappeared. He caught Jisung around the waist and held him down against the final thrusts, face buried at Jisung's throat. The pulses inside him were weaker this time, but still accompanied by another warm spill, less than before and thinner, enough that Jisung felt it join what was already leaking between them.
Minho stayed motionless afterward.
Resting his forehead against the earl’s shoulder, Jisung listened to their uneven breathing and acknowledged, with perfect clarity, that he could stop there. For several seconds he nearly did.
Then Lady Cho’s voice returned to him with maddening precision, countess lingering above every other word, and when Jisung lifted his head, a weary understanding settled across Minho’s still rosy face before either of them spoke.
“You are thinking about continuing.”
It was not a question, and Jisung did not bother denying it. His gaze dropped briefly to where their bodies were still joined before returning to Minho, the corner of his mouth beginning to curl.
“I am not done.”
