Work Text:

It was evening when Rumi and Mira were relaxing in the living room. Well, as relaxing as Rumi slouching her back, her leg prop on the legs of a bar stool as she type furiously on her work laptop on the kitchen counter. Meanwhile, Mira was lounging on their long couch, her eyes glues to the screen- watching choregraphy videos on Youtube, mostly to inspire her or to motivate her for their next upcoming song.

It lasted for almost a hour before they look at each other. Something wasn't right, and that someone isn't here.

At this point, they would have hear the running footstep of Zoey by now. Her voice, a loud music that sings beautifully for them, and at this moment, she should been jumping over the couch and sat next to Mira to show her something on her phone, or a music note, or anything in her mind on the notebooks. And how Mira will lean to listen, and Rumi would've tore herself from the laptop to join them.

But none of that happened.

"Zoey...?" Mira was the first to speak, concern in her tone, and she shut her phone and drop it on the couch, while Rumi mumbles as she get off the stool, "Can we-?"

"Yeah," Mira says, joining Rumi as the two begun their walk back to the bedrooms, "Let's find her."

They walk to Zoey's room, and to their surprise, it was quiet. Eerie even. Usually, there would be a loud music coming from within. It's not often Zoey would've use the girls' instrumentals as her comfort background. It was something that had eased her knowing these tunes came from her girlfriends. But now, it's… Quiet.

The two exchanges a look, a concerning dread rising in their chest as they open the door to Zoey's bedroom. They gasp softly at the sight of the room.

It was expected to be chaotic and full of plushies scattered around, notebooks often topple over each other on the desk, and sometimes land on the floor. But… they see the notebooks were untouched, they see how the stuffed toys were in their usual position from night before. But what really got their attention is the bed.

Across the room, on the bed itself lies a large blanket with something inside. The two look at each other again and nod as they walk inside, toward the bed. They look over and their hearts breaks at the sight of Zoey. They can see that Zoey is likely curled up, and is covered by a big comfort blanket. Her hair is unkempt, and her face- Oh, Honmoon, it was a face of someone who is truly tired.

When Zoey woke up, the first thing she notice was how uneasy she felt. She tried to get up, and went to look over something on her desk. But she felt nothing. Her brain is buzzing, and her hands felt numb.

Zoey curses herself, it had been a long time since she had this sense of feeling nothing. She doesn't have the mood to reach for the notebooks, or turn on her laptop for music samples, or scrolling through her phone. But when she look at these, none of them really interests her and she's just so sudden exhausted in the spite that it was still morning, almost late morning in fact.

Zoey felt… unwell. Sick, even. Maybe, with a bit of tiredness? She grumbled to herself that maybe she shouldn't ate something bad the night before, because she knew she spent last night feeling not so well and thought sleeping through it will get better. It's not, of course, it's not.

Zoey groans to herself, and since she doesn't have the energy to even change, she turn to drag her feet back to her bed.

Zoey flopped down on the bed, crawls herself up to lay on the pillows and she curl up in a fetal position. She reaches for her comfort blanket, and pull them up to cover her. She looks at the phone that had been on her bedside table the whole time, and tried to grab it.

But her mood to scroll isn't there and so she put her phone back to the table. Zoey sighs, and decided to shut her eyes. Maybe she can try to get better after a good rest!

But It doesn't last that long, Zoey felt something has dip in her bed and it woke her for a bit. She tried to lift her head, but her eyes were meet with the most beautiful face of Rumi who looks so, so, so concern. She blinks her eyes and mumbles.

"Rums...?"

"Yeah, shush," Zoey watches Rumi move to lay against Zoey's back and felt her arm covering Zoey's waist, "I'm here."

Then Zoey felt another one- Closer this time, and she turn away from Rumi to see Mira's face. Mira joins the other side, facing Zoey and like Rumi, her arm joins Rum's arm.

"Mir-" Zoey tried to speak but her voice sound tired and it made Mira's brows frown.

"You okay?"

"Hmmm," Zoey shut her mouth for a bit, then she shakes her head against her pillow, "Not okay."

There's a thing about Zoey. Zoey used to say that she's totally okay, that she is fine and peachy. But hiding her discomfort or her tiredness bottles up more and more and one day, it exploded. But now? Years later? Zoey had started to speak up for herself, and these two had always made her feel comfortable to say so.

And so Zoey continues, "Tired, uh, not well?"

Zoey can feel their arms tighten around her, and she doesn't remember if it was Rumi or Mira who told her that she can go back to sleep, so Zoey did. She let the warmth pulled her into a deep sleep.

There was no energy, there's nothing to say, and there is the quiet that is not quite loud.

But it is quiet in this room, where loud was truly quiet and they stay with Zoey through this evening.
