Chapter Text
Many, besides those in heroics, know nothing about prime omegas, the information purged from the mainstream history books a century after the dawn of quirks.
Secondary genders were the step of evolution before quirks about five centuries prior. Alphas, betas, and omegas rose amongst the ranks, soon outnumbering those without, until all that was left was the new model of human.
With these new secondaries, increased production of pheromones helped matchmaking and the development of bonds. Bonds could be either romantic or platonic in nature and helped create the pack dynamic. With this, the number of births skyrocketed. Women of all secondaries and omegas now could produce offspring, though the possibility of multiples greatly decreased from its already meager count.
Additionally, the senses were enhanced.
Noses of the genders were more sensitive to their offspring, adopted or biological, and their ears became more attuned to the sound of pups. Voice boxes also underwent change by allowing differentiated noises based on the biological aspects of the gender.
But no one was ready for the mode of gender that rose above all others.
The prime omega.
While typical omegas tended to stay smaller, primes got as big as their alpha counterparts, even going gaining the same amount of muscle if they worked at it. Not only this, they were overprotective of a fault. They often caused more "problems" in public than Alphas.
This was not because they were peacocking their way into a mate. No, it was their defensive nature picking up on the very real danger that danced around in the shadows.
So to stop the public interruptions, prime omegas, when presented, tended to be sent off into the country, away from major cities.
But this was a major mistake.
Not only did crime climb rapidly, but primes are social creatures who need the other genders to properly operate in the world. Many went scent-hungry or completely overtaken by their painful heats, making them succumb to terrible omegan drops, leaving them to waste away. Additionally, the general public came to suffer for the lack of this secondary in their society, as heats and ruts spent alone, without the scent of primes drifting through the air, became astronomically more painful and harder to suppress the over-protective instincts. Especially if said secondary is single or not living at home.
Thankfully, for some time, primes were reintroduced back into the world, their scents helping ease the general tension around them. Some protections were put into place, and thankfully they were able to live relatively peaceful lives.
But a glowing baby threw the world off-kilter once more, and the Alpha’s who tended to get the more volatile quirks saw the prime as a threat.
Primes never once lorded their power to command Alphas over their head and rarely even went to claim places of power. Most thrived in the social scene, helping in shelters, and police departments, not to mention trying desperately to reform the childcare system. Never did one want to step foot into politics.
Primes didn’t even manifest strong physical quirks if they even manifested one at all. No, the only types of quirks they received were ones that could even the playing field.
But despite this, they were once again targeted.
And so, whether to erase their existence or to protect them, prime omegas faded into the background.
Toshinori couldn’t breathe.
The absolute most revolting scent invaded his sense, the smell of sour milk mixed with burning wood, a bitter note of rancid coffee underlying it. But the smell wasn’t the thing that prevented him from taking in precious oxygen. No, his alpha cowered in the recesses of his mind, commanding him to stay as still as a lamppost because the thing giving off the scent?
An apex predator.
Midnight was overly sensitive to her friend's scents. So, when she stepped inside the USJ, she immediately backed away, her omega whimpering at her fellow omega’s sour scent. Something happened, and now Shouta was feral.
Nothing but Hizashi could help them now.
Now Snipe knew he didn’t have the sharpest nose. He was a beta, so that was a given, but when he stepped into the USJ with Ectoplasm his mate? All he wanted to do was nuzzle the alpha’s neck. The smell was so wrong, so angry. It was Aizawa, no doubt, seeing as Thirteen was up with them, but the man had never smelled such a horrible stench from his friend before.
And it scared him.
Nezu had no secondary seeing as though he was an animal, but smelling his pup so enraged sent shivers down his spine. Never before has he smelt the tones of protectiveness embedded in the coffee and books, nor has he smelled that particular dam scent emanating from his soul-son either.
One thing was for sure, his child had found someone to protect, meaning Nezu’s family was growing.
Who knew such a horrible event would reap such rewards.
When Hizashi stepped into the building, he was bombarded with his mate's scent screaming danger and harm to those around him. He also smelled something else, something new, something that he loved smelling from his one and only. When two pairs of yellows lasered onto him, and he was commanded to join them, he didn’t even fight it.
He knew where he belonged.
Shouta needed to bring the pup to his nest. Needed to protect, needed to scent more! Now, with his alpha here, he could easily carry with one arm while the other protected.
No one was going to hurt his pup.
. . .
He snarled and chirped furiously at those who he thought would get too close. He almost bit a short alpha who tried to kiss him if it wasn’t for Zashi giving a warning growl to not do so.
Why does his alpha not want to protect their pup? Izuku was theirs, but Hizashi wanted this woman to invade his space and get near enough to touch both of them. Absolutely not! But his blond wouldn’t let them pass until he allowed the other to check them. Of course, he fought every minute and didn’t dare let go of his pup even when his arm snapped back into place, and his energy was drained.
He would protect this pup to the end of time.
But his alpha finally let them on, meaning they could get back to the den.
. . .
When they got into the apartment, his omega receded a little, letting the more human part of their brain take control. Though it was still in the driving seat. Still holding the kid, he asked Hizashi to grab water, food, blankets, and whatever they could possibly need before heading into the master bedroom and plopping the pup into the nest.
Izuku was sleeping currently, and while Shouta could move to grab the other stuff he asked his alpha for, he just can’t let the pup out of his sight, at least not yet. So, he sat there, hands brushing through sweaty green curls as he stared at the room's entrance. Truthfully, he felt like he could sleep for a year, but his omega declined his needs, so here he was, watching for Zashi.
His legs were falling asleep as he waited, so he moved to resituate, his hand moving from the boy’s hair in the process, but as he did, a whine tore itself from his pup, and he immediately rested his hand back into the bush of hair. Despite this, the kid’s pained sounds wouldn’t stop.
Panic choked him as more and more discomfort sounded from Izuku, instincts screamed at him, but both himself and his omega didn’t know what to do! That’s when he smelt it.
His pup was having his first full-blown heat.
Oh no, fuck, shit, he didn’t even realize he was giving a command as he called his mate, “HIZASHI! GET IN HERE NOW! HE’S GOING TO GO INTO A DROP!”
Glasses shattered in the other room as heavy footfalls raced towards them, anxious snarls barking out from the man as he kicked the door open so hard that it ricocheted back to hit the blond at his side.
Yellow met concerned orange as Shouta chirped out a sound that could only mean ‘get your ass over here. Hizashi rushed to their side, the glands on his wrist overflowing with his scent as he rubbed them all over both Shouta and Izuku, the scent of a sire washing over both of them, quieting the agonized whimpers emanating from Izuku and soothing Shouta in the process.
As both dam and sire scents mingled together, Izuku drifted to sleep, Shouta and Hizashi following him into slumber, the smell of their pup finally relaxed, releasing the hold of their respective secondaries.
Shouta awoke to someone gnawing on his hand.
Now, it wasn’t exactly painful, but it did wake him up, so it wasn’t his favorite thing. Still, he kept his hand where it was because he knew it was just his pup chewing on his hands.
It was apparently a prime thing, something a pup experiencing their first full-blown heat does to both ease the ache in their new canines and for comfort. He doesn’t remember doing it, but he was informed by both Recovery Girl and Nezu that he wouldn’t stop whining unless he had something scented to chew on, whether it was one of their hands (or paws in Nezu’s case) or a teething toy that was often used for babies.
So, he lets it happen for the next hour as he formulates ideas of how he can shower without the kid dropping.
. . .
The answer comes in the form of their large ass shower, a waterproof seat, and swim trunks.
Hizashi scents a plush just enough so that he can run and set up the bathroom and grab Shouta’s trunks before rushing back to their kid’s side. He scents the plush and quickly changes before the kid starts whining, before carrying him into the bathroom, the kid still clutching onto the plush as Hizashi changes as well.
The kid was unresponsive, eyes glassy as he swayed back and forth as he was placed onto the seat. Because the pup really needed a shower, he stripped the boy down to his boxers and hoped to the gods that the wet fabric would cause too much chafing because they had no clothes that would fit him.
As he pulled the kid’s shirt off, an unbelieving gasp left both men as his omega purred to itself. On the boy’s chest, right over his heart, were an assortment of daisies and baby's breath entwined together with eucalyptus.
Shock froze him before he and Hizashi rapidly shed their own shirts. Sure enough, they had the same bouquet pasted on his chest in the exact same spot.
They had a soul kid. A soul kid! This means…
They had a chance in court if what they are doing now doesn’t count as kidnapping.
Apparently, his omega doesn’t care about the legality of taking a pup, seeing as Izuku is in his home, but in Shouta’s defense, the kid didn’t have any scent on him, which was a huge red flag. It was basic dynamic biology that everyone should have a scent of someone besides themselves on them at all times. Hormone drops unrelated to cycles can still cause detrimental damage to everyone, but especially to growing children.
So, if Izuku has parents, they were to be thrown into jail for neglect. Though, there is another reason a pup might not have an additional scent on them, which tends to happen in orphanage-type situations.
But if he remembered right, there was an actual emergency contact connected to a name and not an institution, an Inko Yagi. The name sounded familiar, yet he couldn’t quite place it, so he began washing himself before starting on the kid.
He did their bodies first, getting the grime and dust off their skin before moving to their hair. He just shampooed his, not bothering with the conditioner, then moved to Izuku.
The kid had a shit ton of hair. It was curly, thick, and unruly, and Shouta wished he had the correct products for this type of hair because considering his wavy hair and Hizashi’s pin-straight hair? Well, let it be said that they are going to enlist Nemuri’s help in finding the right products.
Besides its volume, his hair was pretty easy to wash and comb fingers through. He was just about finished with shampooing when, as he retrieved his fingers to get the showerhead wand, his pup whimpered sadly at the lack of head massage.
Now Shouta rarely indulges Hizashi when he asks for them since Shouta’s fingers chronically hurt after years of capture weapon use, so he’s going to blame the unhappy pup scent that was swirling around him that encouraged him to keep going. Surprisingly, his fingers didn’t ache as much when he finally did stop. It was weird.
But what was truly weirder was the fact of how much he was changing within the twenty-four hours of smelling his pup. Sure, he was intrigued by the kid at first. But when coffee cake and books smacked him in the nose, a deep part within him snapped in place; the piece of him riddled with anxiety was destroyed. And he knew it had little to do with being an omega and parental instincts and more with the fact that Izuku was the only other Prime omega he's met. Not to mention the fact they were soul family. That in itself can cause underlying problems if not met within a certain timeframe, but right now, that didn’t matter. He just needs to make sure his kid gets through his first true heat without a problem.
And for that, he might need to call in the reinforcements.
