Chapter Text

The simmering rage that had promised to cause devastation mere minutes before had suddenly been snuffed out. The way he knelt before you, bearing an expression that resembled a lost school boy warmed part of your heart that had been broken for so long.

But this left you at a cross-roads. For all you knew this was part of his plan. A plan that would leave you dead - or wishing that you were. And you could use this moment to utterly destroy him. But did you even want to do that anymore? Yes he had cheated, and that would always be unforgivable. But the man he had become was not his intention, that you knew. You had known his plan to rule, he'd always been open about that with you. Of course, this was not how you'd imagined it. You'd expected Vergil and Dante to do what their father and his own brother had not been able to, yet it seemed history had a way of repeating itself.

In that moment, you decided that you wouldn't let that happen. His relationship with his brother could still be repaired. Together they could sort out this mess. But to mend such a rift, you would have to go to drastic measures - ones you weren't sure you could pull off. But you'd damn well try.

"Yes," you breathed, watching the relief wash over his face. It had been a long time since you'd seen any sort of emotion other than lust or rage.

This gave you hope.

Something within him was changing. Ever since he had bit you, you'd noticed how he'd look at you, an expression that you couldn't quite make out brandishing his features.

"Really?"

He sounded so insecure, something within you started to piece it all together - what you had to do.

"Well I was hoping when this moment came there'd be a rather fancy looking ring... and that I'd be fully clothed..." You notice the small tug of his lips that eventually progressed into a chuckle. Your heart skipped a beat as you caught a glimpse of your Vergil. He got up from one knee, his gloved hands finding their way to your hips and pulling you close to him. How long would this Vergil last? How long until he has you crying again? For now none of that mattered. Here, in this room, stood the two of you. Something about that moment was all you needed to eradicate that hate that had been growing within you.

"I'll buy you any ring you want. Besides, I'm not complaining about your attire."

His lips brushed against yours, a sweet moment that you'd treasure. Your hands found their way into his hair as he deepened the kiss, a moan escaping your throat. It will be this moment that keeps you going. A moment so blissful that it will keep you from falling into that darkness you'd been having trouble escaping from.

He picked you up as your legs wrapped around his waist, your core already aching for him.

"Fuck the foreplay, I just need you right now," you moan into his lips, breathless and dizzy with lust.

"So eager today, my Queen," he chuckles, pulling back to look at you.

His hand brushes through your hair, caressing your cheek as he lays you gently onto the bed. This newfound Vergil made you want to weep with joy. But you knew it wouldn't last, not for long. Still, you'd bask in this bliss while you could. Memories of happier times flooded your vision as you remembered similar moments back in your old home.

Home.

That's what this felt like. As he slowly inserted himself into you, breath shuddering as you realised that nostalgia had hit him too. He was home. Each thrust paired with 'I love you's' and sweet exchanges that made you forget that you were in Hell currently making love to it's King. Hell wouldn't have him any longer, you decided. Vergil was yours. Your fight was no longer with Vergil, it was with this place.

Order would be restored. You'd have him back.

His pace quickened as you both got closer to the edge. His forehead pressed against yours, and every now and then he'd kiss you to make sure you were okay. His hand reached down between the two of you in hopes of speeding your release up - obviously he was close, and the comment you'd made earlier had stuck with him. You chuckled at this thought, quickly followed by a moan as he made fast circles on your clit. Within seconds you came, legs tightening around him as he continued to thrust, prolonging your orgasm. It didn't take long for him to follow suit, cumming with a grunt before attaching his lips to the mark he'd left on your neck. The sensation nearly had you cumming once more, fingernails digging into his biceps.

"I love you, my Queen," he panted, moving so that you now lay on top of him.

"I love you too, my King."

You study his features for a moment, thinking back to how rocky your relationship has been since his crowning.

"I was going to kill you," you whispered. No more secrets. He stiffened for a minute before his hand moved up to cup your face, thumb trying to rub off the smear of black gracing your cheeks.

"I know," he replied hoarsely, "I would have deserved it."

"We're going to fix this. All of it. Together," you reply.

"I don't know how long until I trigger again, I can't control it anymore... I don't know if any of it's even fixable at this point."

"I'll help you control it. You've got to fight it, Vergil. I know we can fix it all, I know it."

"How?" He whispers, all too aware of the prying ears within the palace.

"I need to see Kat."

At this he stilled, the hand on your hip tightening, "She's dead."

"No Vergil, she isn't."

"I killed her. I killed him! Why do people keep telling me they're alive!?"

"You didn't kill them, Vergil," you began, hand caressing his wrist, "You killed parts of yourself that Hell had portrayed as them. They're still here, you don't have to carry that burden. It was just Hell testing you."

Another unreadable expression crossed his face, and for a moment panic arose in you as you believed that you'd lost him again already. This intel was dangerous. For all you knew you'd just signed their death warrants. You had to hope that some part of him still loved them - after all, he'd proved his love for you still existed. One wrong move and he'd fall into oblivion. Something in him was changing, but progress was slow. His trust was in tatters, his heart thoroughly broken. You hoped that by telling him this, the burden he'd been carrying around would be somewhat lifted.

"They're alive?"
