“I hate my eyes,” I mutter it almost to myself and am surprised to realize I’ve spoken out loud. “That’s what they all say. That they love my eyes. My hair. My skin.”
“Finnick. What you’re doing. No one’s forcing you, right? You’re willing—“
“I like the Capitol, dad,” I say quickly. “It doesn’t smell like fish, the buildings aren’t falling apart, there’s always enough to eat. Your friends don’t show up dead on the beach.”

The Scotts were notorious for their wealth, influence and connections to the capital they had been in favor of the capital during the dark days often their family trained the future tributes in the academy or had a hand in the top participates in the academy games. Those would rank the senior academy students in their likeness in winning the games or participating ranking from 1-30 ranking under the top ten could secure a spot as the tributes for that year.
And yet Odara was the exception, mostly choosing to not handle a weapon aside from throwing knives or darts weapons that allowed her to stay a considerable distance away from another person.

Summary
Peeta Mellark has been rescued from the Capitol, but he's not the same boy with the bread Katniss once knew. His highjacked mind has opened his eyes to the real Katniss Everdeen. She's selfish, surly, and indifferent towards him. And he hates her for it. He's angry that he was abandoned. Again. He's bitter that everyone treats him like a deranged monster. All he wants is to go home, but even that has been taken away from him.
Late one night, he gets a visitor in his hospital room in District Thirteen. Someone who tells him they can give him something impossible: A second chance. He has nothing in this timeline. No family, no friends, not even memories he can trust. So he accepts.
Peeta finds himself in District Twelve on Reaping Day of the Seventy-Fourth Hunger Games. He vows to do it differently. This time, there will only be one Victor, and it won't be Katniss Everdeen.
